There has always been a stigma within the black community so I was also so hesitant to go but one day I knew it was time to heal. I was paired with with the greatest therapist and I trust her. She listens, guides me through my roughest moment and most importantly she cares. Abby has truly been a miracle and I am forever grateful for her finding her calling as a therapist and be a connected with her. I know everyone will not find the right person on the right path but with the team at Mental Edge you definitely will find one.

Ada does EMDR .flash as well as installing safe place to calm my PTSD symptoms. I have made progress with my anxiety and I credit that to Mental Edge. I will stand behind metal edge and recommend to all my friends. After seeing other counselors and got not relief I called mental edge. Got me in quickly always understanding if you can’t make a payment right away, and great staff. Without this place my life would still be a mess

The pandemic really had a crushingly negative effect on me last November/December so I sought counseling. I now see Ada weekly, and she is fabulous! Her experience, compassion, and understanding made me comfortable enough to really open up. Her treatment plan is working wonders for me. With her help, I am gaining back the strength that I forgot I had!

This place changed my life for the better. When I started therapy I was suffering from panic attacks and depression. It was rough at first- I started having episodes of insomnia in April which derailed my progress badly- but I managed to get on medication and from then on my life done nothing but improve. Ada has helped me re-process the negative thought patterns and work through the trauma I suffered as a child, and Tammy has been really great about checking up on me with my meds. I feel better and finding new hobbies and rediscovering old ones. Thank you so much!

Im very happy with the services i recieved here at mental edge with my therapist. She listened to me and was there when i needed her. Really helped with my severe anxiety and flipped it around. Feeling 10000xs better !Thank you mental edge !

First psychiatrist was a no show for our second appt. requested a new one after issues communicating and same thing. Two different times she didn’t show up, and other appts she would cancel a few hours before, and at one point got a text from her at 3am to tell me she sent me meds to the pharmacy because I’d have been out since she kept canceling my appts. Then I got sent to collections on a bill for me not showing up to an appt I didn’t make. Talked to billing about it but got no where at that point because they could see it was made during my last appt, despite me having texts from her asking to reschedule my appt and then canceling the new time she rescheduled as well. Was told there’s no record of that so I’m now responsible for a $70 collections payment on an appt I didn’t make when their staff can repeatedly not show up or cancel.

Let me start off by saying I’ve been in therapy since 1996. After coming to Mental Edge, from the front staff to the back. Finding a therapist that works for me, I don’t have enough good things to say. They have enough people to find the one that works for you, without judgement. I see John and let me tell you how this has change my entire life. The CBT and skills I’ve learn help me through everything in my life. HES not for everyone, but those he is for, whom are serious about change and growing.... I couldn’t ask for more.My daughters also went here and saw two others and loved them. When you find the right therapy for you, it is life transforming.

I was a patient of theirs. I loved them. Then I got an astronomical bill from them. Called and they placed me with a counselor out of my network. I was told my counselor took my insurance as they scheduled me with her. They are admitting the mistake and working on it. Then I get a letter in the mail that I am being let go as a patient. They won’t even switch me to someone in network. Stay away. This was my second counselor in there after my first one left the practice after I saw her only once. Stay away from the edge.

I am so thankful I found Mental Edge! I cant say enough good things about them. All the therapists that I have encountered through my children or myself have been receptive, informative, communicative, and, most importantly, helpful and effective. The office staff is also personable and efficient as well. John, Sam, Shelby, and Tammy (there are many more too) are all wonderful!

Great counselors and much easier to talk to and reach than other places.

I have been a client of Mental Edge for about the past 5 or so years. I could write pages about the ways Mental Edge has changed my life and has provided me with countless tools and guidance to better myself. The brief version is, without Mental Edge I would never have had the knowledge and confidence to engage in the journey of becoming the best version of myself. Their level of empathy and care and their research-based practices are absolutely unmatched in Kent County.

Don’t go here if you have actual mental health needs..they don’t treat people with serious mental disorders …I learned the hard way after one session and was treated like a quack and was referred to go else where extremely disappointed

Garah has helped me so much. She is kind, compassionate and caring. if I need anything. I know I can reach out to her at any time. Tammy is wonderful as well.The staff is friendly. Im thankful I found this wonderful place for counseling.

Five stars for my amazing counselor, 3 for the facility itself, and wish I could give 1 star to the receptionists. Theyre always so rude and one once gave me attitude problems about a glitch with my insurance. She made me cry, didnt seem to care that she did so, and tried to make me feel bad over something I couldnt help. Although this incident happened several months or so ago, theyre still just as unkind and try to fake being nice until something irritates them to break their polite facade. Also, Ive experienced many issues with being billed and have had to get it straightened out multiple times. It always does in the end, but it usually takes several attempts and dealing with the right person to correct the problem.

Horrible communication. I couldn’t even get refills cause I couldn’t get a call back. I needed up having worse mental after going there. The only thing that this place has going for it is, Janet. She actually listened to me. Everything else, eh.

Overall, not the best, but Ive experienced FAR worse! At the office I visit, the receiptionist need to be replaced. My therapist is sincere in her efforts. She wants to help and pushes positive concepts, but she is very young and I see it as the ant trying to move a (rubber tree) plant.My med prescriber has been fine, but this month ran into issues affecting the scheduling of my functioning and successful medications, which is not a good thing for my overall life disposition at this time.Theres not much in Dover, but this is the best here.In response to the owner: No you dont care about anything, you just just care about your profit margin. My experience means nothing to you, neither does my review.

The negative reviews made me very hesitant. So glad I went. The Office staff, Doctor, Support staff, were amazing, professional, and caring. I needed to call to ask an important medical question and received a call back in less than 15 minutes. Wow!

I have seen ada she is the most caring and is awesome as a counselor to work with she has dealt with me and my families issues that we got worked out she’s so amazing in everything she does if you need someone that will care and be there for you every step of the way go see ada you won’t be disappointed at all

Mental Edge is absolutely great, from the nurse practitioner to the therapists. Doctor listened to my history & what medications had worked for me in the past, and was willing to work with me when other doctors weren’t. I see Shelby for counseling and she is so great & has been a true beacon of hope for me after a really rough time in my life. I would highly recommend!

Called months ago after hearing how great the owner was from a friend and after being advised by the receptionist how extremely busy and hard it is to get an appointment with him (which btw is the same bs my friend was taken through by this staff), but was later told by the owner shouldnt have been done they shouldve just taken the information and let him look at his schedule and hed let them know. Anyway, she takes all my information only for me never to hear back, its been 5 months! Totally, unprofessional! Id hate to be someone contacting them in real crisis or need for help..

Im really glad I decided to make the change from Mind & Body in Dover to this practice. After several issues with M & B I had my insurance company recommend Mental Edge and I cannot say enough good things about them. Dr Papa and my therapist Shelby are awesome and are very easy to communicate with and have shown that they genuinely care about me and my struggle with mental health.Anytime Ive had an issue the owner of the practice has helped me personally and that has been a very refreshing change from previous practices. The staff Ive encountered have been pleasant and respectful and pre-COVID they knew who I was and who I was there to see the moment I walked in. That really impresses me and I want them to get their kudos for that attention to client care.Overall my experience has been outstanding and I highly recommend this team of mental health professionals over any other practice in the Dover area!

Had to reschedule due to reasons I wont share here. Practice manager was incredibly rude and refused to reschedule me. Do not recommend.

I agree with what others have said here. Counselor was fine, but billing/office staff was extremely unprofessional and difficult to deal with. I was charged for a missed appointment that I had actually cancelled and, after not returning my multiple phone calls/voice mails, was threatened with having the bill sent to collections. Finally had to pay the missed appointment fee just to avoid having to deal w/ a collection agency and to keep the mistake from showing on my credit report.

The staff members need to get it together, they said they have 79 hours to process your prescription after the doctor calls it in, the doctor met her part of the deal, 5 days later we were still waiting, had called previously and they said it was being taken care of then it turns out it wasnt, we kept calling for them to fix it, finally they called back to say they lost the prescription, had to give them the prescription number again and during all that time my husband has no medication!!!! Do they really know how serious this is???? Depending on the medication it could be a matter of life and death, this is your sanity they are dealing with!!!!!

Billing staff lacks professionalism, doesn’t return phone calls. Scheduled an appointment that we didn’t request then billed us for missed appointment. After several months of requesting confirmation they sent us to collection. Notified insurance commissioner for billing fraud. Bad business.

Counselors are awesome-front desk, business office staff and partners lack professionalism, common sense, empathy and are fear mongers.

5 stars for the counseling end. 1 star for the nurse practitioners end. Lack communication really bad.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The lack of professionalism by the owner John and staff is terrible. My son started their with him, but didn’t feel comfortable so we switched counselors. I think his huge ego was hurt.They don’t answer the phones when you call, they will bill you for no show, however I have all phone records proving I did call. We drove there and they told us they cancelled all his appointments. However they failed to call and let us know. They try to bill for things not utilized. And they were always 10-12-15 mins late taking him back and he’d come out 10 mins early. But we were billed for 60 mins (keep track of it all). I called in a prescription refill after they cancelled my sons spots. They never filled. Was done playing around. So I went to a great place now. 2 months after they send me a bill for a miss appt. for med check?!? Seriously? Get it together. Skip this place. It’s a shame.. Dr. poppa was great as well as Ruth.

My son has been coming to mental edge counseling for a little over a year now and Dr John has helped him so much. My son can control his anger and listens. I recommend this practice to everyone and anyone!

I have not had any issues with the doctors or counselors. Helped get my anxiety under control with meds and therapy.

Male counselor called my elementary aged daughter a woman, very inappropriate.
