Arrived to the site 45 minutes before pick-up time for the car we RESERVED but we stood in line for a little over 3 hours overcrowded by Budget and Avis customers (in the middle of the pandemic) to be serviced. Although AVIS line was moving quickly (a hour faster than Budget), there were only 2 ladies working. While getting all documents and payment together, we were told that they were out of the reserved car that we waited over 3 hours for (mind you it was almost 4.a.m. when we left the facility). So we were given a car that was not only damaged but it also had an horrible odor in it. Thanks BUDGET, but no thanks. Well definitely choose someone else next time.
I rent a pick-up truck to help my daughter move. I arrived at the airport Budget. The line was really long. We were uneasy at first, but I watched the agents work very hard to get us out of there. They could have worked faster but there were not enough car porters. Each one of the agents were nice and eased our minds. It took a while but we all waited patiently. Great staff!!
I was a few minutes late getting the car turned in because I went back out to get gas. You charged me an extra hour which is pretty much the same as a whole day. In addition, you charged me for gas. I filled it completely right across the street from the terminal right before I turned it in. Why did you charge me for gas? It is completely full and I have the receipt.
I have rented from Budget 3 or 4 times lately. I have always filled the gas tank prior to returning the car. On all of these rentals I have provided this information on the rental agreement or have told the receiver this. On 3 of the rentals, I have still been charged for gas. Its obvious that some of your locations are deliberately trying to cheat renters. I have always had to call your customer service to straighten out the charges. This is time consuming and very bad for your business. Please call out these locations that are doing this. Thank You
Rented at Detroit Metro Airport. Had to stand in line in doors for 90 minutes before I saw an agent.Horrible experience considering what we are experiencing with the Coronavirus. No efforts were made to expedite patrons.
Budget gets a 4 from me, and that is based entirely on customer service. Everyone from the lady in the exit booth and the director in the lot to the gentleman at the reception desk were cordial to begin with. Both the receiving and the returning of my vehicle were handled politely, professionally, and with very little effort on my part. Both agents, especially Idris (at reception) was phenomenal at meeting my familys specific needs. Also, everything about the vehicle was perfect!! I gave a 4 as my overall experience because of my dissatisfaction with locating the Budget lot. Apparently my GPS wasnt aware that the lot had been moved. If I were in a hurry, this would have been a serious problem. Apparently Avis has bought Budget, but I had no clue in order to get my vehicle I needed to go to the Avis lot. To me this is a huge boo boo!! Nevertheless, the staff saved the company a 1 rating. It wouldve been a 0, but I loved the vehicle. Also, I wouldn’t fail the company based on this one location (Detroit Metro Airport-Lucas Drive).
Every single individual I interacted with at the DTW Airport location was so kind and personable. Even when I needed to exchange the vehicle and extend my rental the process was super simple and convenient. Both vehicles were clean and well maintained and the return process took minutes. Their pricing was also the most reasonable, especially in comparison to Enterprise.
Car was great. Check-in was bad but returning was the worse. They expect you to wait in line just to return the car. Online says theres a drop box but there was no drop box. 5 other people in line were also waiting to return. I will definitely stick with enterprise or hertz in the future.
When I showed up, there was a long line and only one employee available. When Im given my car, a white Corolla I believe, it had a dead battery. I had to wait for the one employee to finish with her current customer to get a different vehicle. I go out the retrieve my Kia EcoSport, only for it to not be there. Again, I had to wait for her to be done with a customer to let her know. By then she had called for assistance. A gentleman showed up and told her the car I was given was probably back in a different spot. I appreciate that she left to go get it and pull it up to the door, still running. When I got in, I immediately noticed an odor that smelled like a soiled diaper. At this point I just wanted to get to my hotel and sleep. I was hoping that the smell would dissipate. It didnt. I was so embarrassed, I wouldnt let a friend carpool with me. The smell lasted for the entire rental, even with spraying deodorizers in it. The employees were great at both drop off and pick up, but I definitely am displeased with my rental experience at the cost I paid especially.
Worst place to rent a car from... best to go with hertz or any other establishment. Took 4 hours and staff kept walking off the job incredible
Two front tires were DANGEROUS. zero tread left and cracks on the roadside surface. Tires were also mismatched, causing significant vibration and road noise. right rear tire needed to be maintained daily due to a leak. cigarette burns all over the interior of the car (2020 Kia, not what I had rented although there were plenty of those sitting in the lot) windshield had NOT be cleaned since the last smoker was in the car. unable to see through at night. spit trails down the center of the windshield on the inside from where the last driver attached his phone holder suction cup. vehicle misses TERRIBLY on low speed acceleration. cruise control increase does not shut off allowing speed to increase unabated until brakes applied or cruise disabled. counter staff was plentiful, but most of them were standing around talking (in a group and not about business) while the building was packed and NO AIR CONDITIONING was on. On a positive note, your shuttle bus staff is STELLAR. Great group of folks that should seriously be commended. Pretty sure we will never be back.
On labor day weekend I waited for 3hrs to get a car in Denver. You overbooked rentals and screwed your customers because you were greedy. I accepted that it was a holiday weekend even though you made no effort to accommodate your customers. But on Sept 24th I made the mistake of booking through budget again in Detroit and waited two hours again. No excuse what so ever except that clearly your customers are not important. I rent numerous cars each year mostly for business. These are high end kuxary cars at big bucks. I will never use budget again.
It took 2 hours of waiting in line to get the car. We did end up in a decent car, but I will never run from budget again after that experience. The employees were understaffed, had very old and slow computers, and there was no means of automatic checkout.
When I arrived at the desk to pick up my car, there were about 25 people ahead of me. By the time I left, the line behind me was out the door and wrapped around the building. I have never had to wait over an hour to get my rental car. I have pictures to prove it and NO ONE was practicing social distancing at all.
My mom was in a tragic motor vehicle accident. I came to Michigan to assist in the fight against covid-19, but when my family is affected I have to eat the whole bill, not to mention you are going to rent the car out that was paid for and earn double. What a rip off
The very courteous man behind the counter. He worked the over-crowded afternoon before when I gave up and left and came back next morning to try again. And he was there: early Sunday morning. Lucky for Budget to have such a conscientious, dedicated employee. The people make the company, and he really did!
Not impressed. When we arrived, there were several people in line and only 2 agents checking people in, 2 others were standing around behind the counter seemingly playing on their phones. They say their fleet is 100% smoke free, but when we opened the door to the car we were hit with a wall of smoke smell. Speaking of the car, usually rental cars are fairly new but our car had over 30k miles on it. The tread on the tires was low in some places and the windshield wipers seemed like they had never been changed as they were next to useless when it rained. When we returned the car, the return agent said that their systems were offline so they couldnt print a receipt. I went online to get the receipt once I got home and found that since the system was down they didnt end up checking the car in for almost 4 hours after we dropped it off, and we were charged for those 4 hours even though the car was in the return lot and our flight had already departed! Speaking of the flight, when we went to board the shuttle to the airport the driver acted super annoyed that we arrived to the shuttle area about 20 seconds after the previous shuttle had left. He said you just missed the shuttle - like we were somehow supposed to know it was about to leave. Then he huffed and puffed and said well, its going to be a while before I leave. Fine, I always arrive early so Ive got time. He didnt like that one bit, like he legitimately expected that we were going to somehow find another way to the terminal?? Customer experience here can use some polishing all around.
It took over 2 hours for me to receive my rental car. I didnt even choose budget so I could save money but the alleged savings werent justified by the wait. I dont think Ive experienced this before. Some people in line were able to get their vehicles quicker elsewhere once they enrolled in fastbreak so that may be worth looking into.
Outstanding experience. My Mazda CX5 (?) performed great, no issues, very reliable. The Young lady at check out was a hoot..drop off was smooth and effortless...very professional. Highly recommend Budget at the Detroit airport. PR
Was terrible will never rent hear again1st time to detroit was a nightmare....Not a good look for 1st time travelers!Waited in line 5 hrs after a midnight flightThen after we got rental had to replace the tire cause it had a nail in it...Worst place ever!Ill stick to my budget in texas!
Even though we had to wait for a compact car to come in as the inventory was low the staff was more than gracious. The car was cleaned and washed for us and performed well during our trip.
Waited 45 minutes to get to the counter didnt have a car the size i had reserved. The mini van I was given was dirty had all the back seats folded down which were also dirty when brought into an upright position. Then realized the tire was low. Like 12 pounds low asked what I could do and they said I would have to get back in line to wait for a representative. Granted at this time the line was even longer. So I was forced to take the dirty mini van with a semi flat tire
I checked my car in at 5:30 a.m., Ive then received an email at 3:28 p.m. stating that my car was just checked in at that time and I was charged an additional day and it stated that the car was returned to Indiana when it was indeed turn to Detroit Airport. It was a hassle getting it cleared up and it still stays on my receipt that I returned it in Indiana with I do not appreciate the in accuracy hello
Rented car to attend funeral. Decided to stay an extra day to help out my Father. The extra day rate was $1200/day!! I called and talked to 4 or 5 reps they were all very sorry but that was the rate I had signed up for. Pretty sure I never considered the extra day rate when renting a car....but I will now. Just not from Budget.
The Avis/Budget check-out was fast near July 4th weekend. However, I found the car was filthy inside. It looked as if someone had been living in the car prior to my rental. Obviously, no one from Avis/Budget inspected the vehicle prior to my rental. Unfortunately, I did not have time to exchange the vehicle so I annotated the filthy condition on the inspection report. After returning the vehicle in exactly the same condition in which I found it, the check-in process was quick. Approx. 2 weeks after I returned the vehicle I receive a letter in the main from Budget explaining that I returned a soiled car and I owed a $450 cleaning fee!?! They ask me to provide documentation, which I did indicating that the vehicle was filthy. Then, they provide some cryptic response about how they cant find some report (I believe the inspection report prior to my accepting the vehicle) but their going to give me a $100 credit. There is no mention of the status of the cleaning fee. This makes no sense. The customer provides you prove of the condition in which they find the vehicle, but you provide a $100 credit!?! I respond to let them know that they need to after the responsible party. Then, they respond with lowering the cleaning fee by 50%, but they still charge my credit card for the original $450 cleaning fee even though were still trying to resolve the dispute. Im not sure what is going on in their thought process that they think I am somehow responsible for cleaning a FILTHY vehicle THEY provided to me -- other then to make sure I never use their service ever again.Be forewarned, NEVER ACCEPT ONE OF THEIR VEHICLES UNLESS IT IS IN PRISTINE CONDITION, EVEN IF YOU HAVE DOCUMENTATION!
Dropped off at Avis/payless/budget combined rental desk with 100 people in line to get reserved cars at MIDNIGHT. Minimal staff. Couldnt find out if my Fastbreak auto available so had to standin line for an hour. Horrible setvice
45 minute wait in line. All the customer service reps were new and had 1 person helping them all. Once It was my turn...took agent 20 min to get my info and that was with asking for help twice. Then her computer went down and we had to start over. I reserved a 12 passenger van because there were 8 of us. She kept telling me she could do an upgrade...I kept telling her I have 8 people and I would like the passenger van. She stated they didnt have one ready..but she could call and they could get one ready...by this time we had been there well over an hour...i again told her I would take something else but I have 8 people. She stated the van would hold all of us. Well guess what? It only had 7 seats. And I was not going back in. One of my passengers had to sit on floor between middle seats. Luckily we only needed it for that many people to get back and forth to airport...but it was an uncomfortable 1 hour ride to our destination. I have used Budget for over 20 years. It was my favorite until this incident. Very disappointed. And it was prepaid.
Showed up to get my rental. Wait is 1hr plus Outside in the hot sun. Meanwhile Avis is professional and streamlined. Choose a different company.Sincerely,Hot, tired, thirsty and cant get the time back that I wasted with Budget😐
Got to the site at Midnight - stood in line for FIVE AND A HALF HOURS to get my car. 48 customers in line and only ONE clerk. Very slow service to pickup a pre-paid rental. I am a heart patient and this was hell on my body!
I used to solely use one of the Budget competitors but now, at least so far, Budget/Avis employees have treated me better. This includes their customer service, vehicles offered (with upgrades) and lower rates.
The counter service was courteous, the shuttle drivers were efficient and considerate. There were just two minor issues. First, one of the tires needed air after about two days of driving. I ended up having to fill it twice during the week that I had it. Secondly, the servicewoman who greeted me upon returning the car still charged me for gas when I indicated that I had brought it back full. Fortunately, this was easily ameliorated with a call to customer service the next day.
When we received our car, 40 miles into our journey all the tires showed low pressure. We check tire all balled and every tire had screws and nails. The odor of the vehicle was unbearable and extremely dirty interior. Once we got to our next town we went to a budget/avis location, they had no extra cars available and said to call customer service which directed us to that same location. Stuck with a unsafe vehicle, the attendant finally located us a vehicle. We had to fill with gas and it was very dirty inside however it was safe to drive. Dont drive off the lot without checking every square inch of the vehicles. Dont assume you have a safe vehicle
I reserved a Jeep Wrangler (Luxury SUV) two weeks before my travel date (7/2/21 - 7/5/21) at a cost of $827.55. Ive never had issues with Budget in the past, but this experience has lost you a customer. The Jeep was not on the lot at DTW Airport; I was offered an upgrade to a Nissan Forerunner; I dont consider that an upgrade....I wanted the Jeep I paid for! Then when I went to the lot, someone else drove off with it. I went back into the office to let them know that someone else took off with it. THEN, I was offered the Nissan Pathfinder...after another 20 minute wait, I was told that that vehicle was unavailable. Finally after another long wait, another Pathfinder was available. I was told that because of the inconvenience, I would be credited two days off my reservation & free gas on return. I have yet to see this credit to my credit card. But instead, I got another charge on my credit card for $130.19 on 7/6/21 with NO explanation. I am extremely unhappy with the quality of service I DID NOT RECEIVE, and considering I prepaid for the Jeep initially, the promises made for any credits have not been fulfilled. Who can I contact to rectify this issue?
Easy on-line reservation, good shuttle service, FAST BREAK easy pickup! Nice new car, clean. Quick return. Everything was GREAT!
Wish I could give zero stars. Would not wish this torture upon my worst enemy. Two hours just to get a car I already reserved?? No urgency from the employees. They. Don’t. Care. Absolutely terrible.
I ordered a standard size car and was goven s compact
I am a long term Budget Fast Break Customer and this was by far the worst rental experience I have ever faced. When I picked up the car it only had 1/4 tank of gas. The rental document said to bring it back with the same level which I did. This resulted in being billed $135 more than the actual amount owing. The person at the car drop off was frankly rude and nasty and told me to walk all the way across the lot to an office. The lady at the counter eventually helped me but she said that I should have been smart enough to not take the car with only 1/4 tank of gas even though the paperwork said just to bring it back with the same amount of gas. Frankly I cant believe how awful this whole situation was.
The office is plastered with Avis signs, but not a Budget sign to be seen. The line to pick up my prepaid rental was out the door. Again, there were no signs to show which door was for the Budget rental line and which door was for the Avis rental line. I ended up in the Avis line for about 20 minutes before I got into the building and saw the Budget line was on the other side of the building. Again, there are no signs outside to direct people to the correct side of the building. The entire building says Avis. When I switched over to the Budget line I waited for over 2 hours to pick up my vehicle. If I had not pre-paid for my rental and at risk to lose my money, I would have called an Uber and left. The wait was ridiculously long. When I finally got to the counter, I had to wait another 20 minutes for a vehicle to be available. The staff was friendly, they just didnt have the appropriate resources or personnel to efficiently complete their jobs. More resources need to be funded to this location, or less cars need to be rented at a particular day/time. I would not rent from Budget at the Detroit Airport EVER again. I will also let all of my friends and family, who live in Detroit, know how awful my experience was.
Had a fast trip to Detroit for a family function. Had a wonderful time, rented a car from Budget. Fast in and out, a great car and all the paperwork done before we even got there. I will use them again
When I arrived at the customer service desk, not only did I wait over an hour in line and I was only the 9th person in line. I approached the counter and was informed that my particular vehicle that I reserved was not available and my options were a Ford Edge or Toyota Tacoma, I was not happy. I took the Edge because I needed the trunk space. The Edge had pretty noticeable damage and a whistling sound while driving which was quite distracting . Not very impressed with the services I received with this particular rental.
Other than long lines and the waiting time to get the car when we arrived (I think several planes arrived the same time so the lines were a little longer that maybe normal), it was a wonderful experience. Very friendly, helpful and the car was amazing. Returning the car was super easy and made the stress of the day ahead easier.
I was harassed for 3 weeks. saying I did not return the car. Calls, emails and text messages. I emailed my itinerary to you 2 weeks ago and you all told me you could not find it. Now I have been told you took it to a body shop to be serviced. I am angry and I will make sure everyone I know, dose not rent from you ever. I had until this point been a very loyal customer.
Very friendly staff that I interacted with. Concise and helpful with pulling up my reservation. Good selection of vehicles to choose from when reserving.
The line was too long for check in.But, Im giving a 5 star 🌟 instead of 4 stars because they people at Budget were super Nice, even the security guards and shuttle bus drivers.
At Detroit airport there is no budget counter. So shuttle will drop you at the AVIS counter. The counter do not have any sign or direction for Proffered or Fast break customers. When I got there, the line was out the door and after standing 20 mins in line I stopped a staff member and he informed me i have to go another counter on the other side of the parking lot for proffered or fast break reservations. Which was very inconvenient when you are traveling with an infant. By the time I got out of the parking lot wit a car, I spent 2 and a half hours, where it should be in and out for being a fast break customer. I hope AVIS in Detroit airport will improve their service and signs. Also make sure you get a receipt when you return the car. I dropped off my car and staff informed me that I will get an email receipt. Yesterday I got an email form Loss and Prevention that I havent returned the car and they tried to charge my credit card $1700 for extra 2 days. I was in line with them for 1 hour to resolve the issue. THE WORST EXPERENCE EVER AT DETROIT AIRPORT AVIS LOCATION.
It was very easy to get the car that I booked online. And the checkout was not such a long wait. And customer service was very good.
The gentleman didnt charge us to add my sister when we came back in to add her. He offered and he was very polite and courteous. The initial lady was very nice and accommodating
Easy from start to finish. Check in and check out were fast and convenient. Buses to the rental lot were plentiful and spacious, and the drivers were friendly and assisted with bags.
I reserved & paid for a 4 passenger car. We waited 45 minutes in line to be told all they had available was a 12/15 passenger van. If I hadnt been traveling all day & needed a car to get to the hotel I wouldve requested a refund. Customer service was great & she did advise me to come back the next morning to inquire about another car, but that wouldve been a 50 min drive. Wont rent from budget again!
I picked up a car. A slipped was given to me with a time on it. They took another 30 minutes to bring me my car. I was charged for being an hour late based on the time stamp. They said that it is stamped when I left. That was untrue. I was given the paper at the counter with time on it. I did not get my car at that time. I had to wait on the car, do the inspection, and wait in a long line to check out. It was extremely crowded. I waited in line 60-90 minutes. I was in the check out line for about 7 minutes. I enjoyed my rental but to wake up to a 273 charge for being a hour late is ridiculous when you werent more than 10 -15 minutes late.
The line is too long it wrapped outside the building. Should prepare with enough staff prior to letting people book. Will not use budget at DTW again.
We had problems right from the start. We didnt see that the Budget Avis had merged and the shuttle was late arriving to the airport. Once we got to the Budget/Avis office, we were in line for 3 hours for a car we had already reserved and paid for. When we go into the car, it had a strong order of smoke, which the agent said sorry about that. There was no windshield wiper fluid and when we returned the car, the agent was fussing about where we were parking but there were not signs or direction were to park. It was a very disappointing experience...
I rented the car for 59 days and I did not get charged on my credit card and after one month. I got charged for more than one month. I called the Detroit airport location who did not answer my call and forwarded to the national office who told me that the contract was split in two portions and I should have gone to the Detroit airport location and start the second half which unreasonable to drive 7 hours back and forth from Columbus Ohio. Some body should have told me in advance when I made the reservation then I would have gone with another company. He told me he will send an Email and I should hear from them within 24 hours. No one called. I received a charge again for a total more the cost on my reservation. That is not appropriate.
I was billed an extra $3300.00 in error. I had prepaid for the rental and was still charged. Mileage was charged incorrectly.I had to call twice to find someone to assist me in resolving the matter and getting a refund. The agent went I picked it up was rude and not helpful at all. I had to look on you tube to find out how to open the hatch as it was not a standard way to open it.Agent insisted in sending my final bill via email but it took 3 days to get it. I found out I was over billed by a notification by my credit card company.
You said you cleaned the car, that was a lie!!! It had crumbs and the person before us paperwork still in it ( the car was dirty). With COVID growing this is super sad that you dont care and are helping spread it around the country, please do better for the people that rent from you, they dont know what the person before them Had/Have. FYI, they are in the Avis building
They offered me an upgrade. First gave me a car that smelled so bad, I threw up. The second car they gave me the dashboard wouldnt work. The third car and final car was not an upgraded vehicle. It was a tiny car and no upgraded features. Just because its a new car doesnt mean its an upgrade. I told the agent that I didnt want an upgraded car because they were messed up, of course they didnt switch me out of it. They took the money and ran. I tried to call Budget and was left on hold for 45 minutes. I hung up. No one is there to listen. Super sad about this experience.
Nice car for the money, long lines at airport but they went quickly. Car was nice and the check in process was quick and efficient. Shuttle was quick both to and from airport.
I stood in line for 30 minutes just to speak to an agent. My car desperately needed an alignment, as the car was pulling seriously to the right. At times I felt I was fighting with it. When I returned the car there were no employees visible to return the car to. I went into the office twice, just to be told (rudely) that they were out there. I ended up walking all over the parking lot until I found someone. I understand there is a pandemic, but, seriously, this was the most awful experience ever. And I paid top dollar for it.
I rented a car last week from the Detroit airport and had a pleasant experience the whole time! I had a cute little car (new) that was super clean and ran very well. The agent who helped check me in was SO nice as was the shuttle driver who took me back to the hotel. I rented a car earlier this year from another company and was very unhappy. I am happy I chose to try Budget and I am excited to use them again in the future!
Helpful staff, well-running car for our one-month rental for a family of 5, no problems at all
I picked up at 7am and return at 1am. It was fast at these times. Not sure other times.
The worst experience of my entire life. Not only did they ruin my vacation by refusing to give me a car that I paid for months ago, they then stole my wallet and took their phone off the hook. So I was stuck in another state without a car or my wallet for a week. Hopefully someone reads this and talks to the employees that were there on 8/16/21 as I have been unable to get through to anyone. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE.
Fast service - Great car - best price. REALLY found the entire rental experience positive. Thanks!!
The process was easy and smooth reserving car for pick up and Returning car without going through a long process.
DTW airport car rental was a hassle. We had to take a shuttle to the rental car lot then wait in a long line of confused people who booked through Avis, Budget, and Payless for over an hour to get our car. The staff were nice, but the process was terrible.
I made a reservation at Detroit Metropolitan Airport Budget Rental for an economic car for weekend to visit a family member. Once I arrived at the counter, the agent offered me a free upgrade and gave me a Nissan Pathfinder. Well, I went to K15 where my rental car was parked and I was in shock. The car had damages to all around the car. I marked almost entire inspection form with damage spots. Once I open the rear lift door to put my baggage and it was so dirty. I started the car and saw the mileage on the car was close to 60,000 miles. I have never rented a car from rent a car place with that high mileage. I was totally disappointed and I wouldnt recommend this place.
I paid and reserved an SUV 7 passenger vehicle. I did not get that!! All you had available for me after a 2 hour wait in line was the Toyaota 4 runner. I could either take that one or wait another couple of hours until one was available. It didnt matter that it was a considered an upgrade I needed a vehicle that would hold 7 people, I got one that only held 5. I thought the reason I gave a time and day was so you would have the car ready. Other places I have been that was how it worked. It was very frustrating and caused problems with my vacation. The other thing was I paid alot to have vehicle that held 7 people and didnt get it. So I dont plan to use budget again.
Nice price compared to the competition, staff was nice and very friendly. There was a small scratch on the car and it wasnt totally clean, there was a water bottle under the seat but besides that great experience, most def will be back.
Getting the car was HORRIBLE!The problem was the line. I waited almost 2 hours in line to get my car.2 HOURS to get the car I reserved! Avis and Budget now share a building at DTW. About 2-3 people from budget were working with an Avis rep jumping in when she had no customer.I think the representatives were all fine, and helpful to the point of being too helpful--for instance one woman stood in front of the rep for 20 minutes asking about ALL OF THE OPTIONS, and how much it would cost one day more, one day less. I think she eventually got a car, but so much time for the one person--no consideration for the line out the door.Ultimately, this is a management issue--this is an airport location, and they know how many reservations are coming in at what time. Budget decided that making customers wait was a better idea than serving customers in a timely manner in Detroit. In contrast, I was in AZ about 6 weeks ago, rented through Budget, line was twice as long, and I was out in 15 minutes--why? Because they had every station open to move people out to their rentals.Bottom line, if you have an engagement and need to rent a car at the DTW airport, make sure you have an extra two hours after landing to get your car if you want to rent from Budget. I just barely made it to my event in time.AGAIN--management failed--and the representatives did the best they could.
Lines were disorganized. Staff unhelpful. We continue to get emails about car not being returned despite returning the car on time and calling twice to address the problem
One star because I cant put less, horrible disgusting service, never again. I had to wait 3 hours in line. There was only one person to serve more than 100 clients. horrible service. dont waste your time get away from this place
The level of competency is low and greed is high in your organization. To the point that a solution is hopeless. Ill never rent from you again .
Car was dirty and they tried to up charge me for things i didn’t do...Wouldn’t recommend this place but the customer service on the phone was understanding and helped me dispute the false charges
The wait to pick up the car was really long. I waited about 1 hour and 10 minutes to pick up the car even though I showed up about 15 minutes early before my pick up time. Also I did not feel like the A/C in the car worked. When I turned it on it would blow air but it never actually got cool. There were times where I would have it running for up to 40 mins and it still wouldnt get cool. However, the transportation from the airport to the car rental center and from the car drop-off location to the airport was great! I had a baby and a stroller with me and I had no problems at all.
LOVE love love love love this Budget Car Rental near the Detroit Metro airport. It was just absolutely so speedy making this rental happen and then, my goodness, it was a same day type pickup on a Sunday. They had just such awesome options and I was able to rent for a week a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was so new it still has that new car smell! There was also parking nearby in the parking lot so it made it super easy for my boyfriend to drop me off to pick up my car. The car was amazing and I loved driving it! Finally, check in was so smooth and they let me even bring the at back early and I was able too save some money. Great value, great cars. Everything is as advertised.
The attendant Don in Detroit was so pleasant and help full. Our car was perfect and so n.
The car was nice the ride was nice however the inside of the car could have been clean better there was so left over paper in the back under the driver seat and crumb on the driver side door opener other than that it was a good car.
When reserving a vehicle, it should be in bold that there will be an additional $250 charge for security purposes. I said okay whipped out my debit card, and after numerous attempts, the machine didnt work and I was subjected to a credit check which didnt go through. The employees kept asking me for another charge card. I told them I didnt want to use another credit card of course, they shrugged their shoulders and said there is nothing else they can do. What a crock of shyt when the car reservation was already paid in full. I had to call someone to assist me that had a credit card. I wont be reserving with you again anytime soon.
We had to return early due to problems with my husband who has dementia. I was told I was charged a non-refundable prepay fee and it wasnt refundable. I didnt know that. We had to return due to the problems with my husband - it was medical. Please refund the $405.53 to our charge card. I did not know there was such a fee until we wanted to return early. Please help us with this.
Pick up was easier than we expected.Drop off was good but could have better signage for drop off points. All staff from the transit to counter people and drop off representatives all very helpful.
The lines were really long and I have a knee disability so standing in that long line was very painful. The agents were taking people as fast as they could but with both Avis and budget Avis customers moved much faster
Budget, Avis, and Payless walk into a car rental store... and never leave. Thats the punch line for this place. The line for renting a car is way too long, even with reservations. Combining three different rental car services into one area sounds like a bad idea, and it is. Adding to this is the fact the Payless clerk has almost no customers coming in, and thus stands there idle much to the dismay of the massively overworked Avis and Budget staff.Cars are not being serviced or maintained as promised. Ours had been run heavily (wheel alignment bad, engine rough, brakes heavily used), inside had not been cleaned (paint all over the place, seat stains, steering wheel had 2 years of gunk on it when cleaned), the outside was a mess (trim missing, massive door dent), and this was acceptable condition. In a PANDEMIC?! Isnt the company supposed to clean the car, not the customer?I know theres a massive shortage of rental cars right now, and every vehicle is needed. But if you want to provide a service, do it right and dont patronize us in the process with upbeat classic rock songs in a 30 minute to 2 hour line and radio communications blasting our ear drums every 2-3 minutes. Did no one give you an ear piece?! If you dont have cars that are ready or safe to drive, just say so and save us all the trouble. At least the drop off was painless, it was good to be free of this mess. Avoid here at all costs, its better to ride share everywhere, and probably cheaper emotionally and financially.
The car broke down. It took 3 phone calls, waiting on hold, and 3 hours to get a tow truck. A car never arrived to take me a to the airport to get a new rental car. I spent another 3 hours that day trying to talk to customer service but never was able to speak to someone who could help. I went to the airport myself and spoke to a representative. The rep. offered to comp ONLY THE TWO DAYS OF THE TRIP WHERE I LITERALLY DIDNT HAVE THE CAR SINCE IT HAD ALREADY BROKEN DOWN. After negotiating and another hour at the service counter, we agreed on a full refund, and I got confirmation they would process this request via email. Three days later, Budget attempted to charge my card for an additional $1,600!! I received an automated voicemail stating that I needed to return the car ASAP, since the horrible system thinks I still have the car in my possession!! Countless phone calls and hours waiting on hold, I finally spoke to a customer service supervisor. The supervisor was unable to “close out the ticket”, and said it would take a few more days to resolve the issue. This is now 5 days after the car was towed away. I’m frustrated, appalled, and likely going to sue to the fraudulent credit card charges. Next time I need a rental car, and Budget is the only option, I WILL CHOOSE TO WALK RATHER THAN GIVE A DOLLAR TO THIS SHADY, WORTHLESS COMPANY.
UPDATE: the car we finally got smelled like a hotbox of weed with airfreshners stuffed in every vent...ugh. Then the engine light keeps coming on and the motor is missing even during idle. The car was junk. Lesson learned. No budget rental for us and our kids.Waiting in line to get to the counter to get our prepaid car and its been an hour.....still waiting!Get a QR code system for prepaid customers.Budgets current car retrieval system is HORRIBLE!!!!!!
Ease of service and convenient . Customer service staff were friendly and courteous. Had a pleasant experience overall.
First it took 2 hours to get the rental. The counter personal were nice but did not seem to know what they where doing. The car was not especially clean. It smelled like Marijuana parts of the plastic were broken in the back. The staff in the lot could have been at the counter helping the flow of the line. Overall this was the worst rental experience Ive ever encountered.
After prepaying and checking in online, my wife and I stood in line for 2 hours to get our rental car. People would just walk in and proceed to the counter and from what I saw, were not pre-registered or prepayed. Never again!
There was no hassle friendly and kind people. The prices are reasonable than other car rental places from Airport.
Very easy expirience. Price didnt change. Got exactly what I thought I was ordering. No added fees. All good in my book.
Our car was dirty, beat up and smelled funky. The check-in time was inexorably long in a shabby rental car space. And for this subpar experience, we paid a premium of $100/day.
Well had to wait a long time to get the car then the car was so dirty. Wasnt vacuumed out had orange that was rotting under the seat, seats sticky and dirty, and needed an oil change.
Worst car renting experience. Picking up the car was great. Had mechanical issue with the car and it went down hill. They treat customer with no respect and no one cares to resolve issues. I will never rent from budget ever again after this. I spend too much on car rental monthly to be disrespected.
Easy and quick process for pick up and delivery!! Need better pricing and discounts, but overall good experience!!
What a joke of a company!Preordered the car the week before and then showed up to a 3.5 hour line before we can even talk to someone! My flight was shorter than that.My wife took an Uber to a local shop to buy a car seat just so we could Uber to our destination. Last time we’re even going to think of using Budget/Avis
I experienced very little counter time which allowed me to get my car and go!
The line inside to pick up the rental was moving too slow, there was not enough workers to service the people, there must be improvement, there must be improvement, there must be improvement in service to cut down on the waiting time, my legs were very weak. An idea is to take a number and take a seat while waiting for your turn. I will have to tell anyone who ask about my experience with Budget,to bring a folding chair, stool, etc. to sit down while waiting to be serve. Just awful, awful, awful, the rental car was not cushioned. the ride was very uncomfortable. We were in pain from that situation. That Mazda ride was horrible. Sincere, Ms. Lou Austin
Went with Budget due to the promise of double cleaning and sanitizing which apparently neither are taken seriously. Rented two vehicles while in the area and both were filthy which I hesitated to allow my 4 month old grandchild to be transported. Very disappointed!! The only reason I gave a 2 was due to the agent. She was friendly, engaging and very professional.
