Chris totally took care of Tim Ostrom and Ray Novak when we flew in last weekend. The Sequoia he rented to us was really clean and the perfect car for the weekend. We’ll definitely use Hertz Destin again. Thanks so much Chris.
TERRIBLE!!!!! Closes at 12 on Saturdays and closed on Sundays. They made unauthorized charges. No customer service. On hold for 45 minutes waiting for a manager who never answered. Customer service reps have no clue how to help. Spent 5 hours on the phone talking to 8 different people trying to get a problem resolved. No help whatsoever!!!
Picked up a car for a week rental. The ONE employee at the location never got up out of his chair to walk outside and do a walk around for damage and to check the car before we left.We discovered that it already had a cracked windshield which eventually spread throughout the week. We called to no avail and then had to file a report for existing damage online. We traveled over 2,000 miles and couldnt get a single Hertz rental location to swap the car for us between Florida and Texas!Bad business practices eventually equal no business at all.Unfortunately, this is not the first bad experience we have had with Hertz! They dont have enough employees. Their cars are left dirty. And they, quite frankly, dont care!My suggestion is to hire people who will stand up and meet a customer at the front of the location instead of sitting at a desk in the back and yelling back and forth to see what they want!The bunch in Destin need to get their act together! Terrible customer service. I put one star as my review and that is being generous.
We rented a car at a location near to the Pensacola Airport and we were able to drop it off at this location. It is a small office inside the Island Palms Shoppes mall infront of the Walmart supercenter .The car we rented was brand new, comfortable, clean, with low miles. They gave us a free upgrade from a mid-size to a full-size car.Friendly staff and reasonable prices. We recommend to pre-pay the tank of gas.
Great experience and they gave us a free upgrade from a standard car to a BMW convertible to allow us to start our vacation quickly.
Absolutely do not book a rental through them! This place almost ruined my vacation! We booked a rental car through them a couple weeks ago to then get a call the day before we fly in to tell us we are being put on a waiting list because they don’t have any cars.... I then ask how we were able to book then & receive a confirmation number & the lady tells me it’s corporates fault for not shutting the website down when they were already full.. so how is that our fault? She tells me there’s nothing they can do & says “I called ahead of time so people could make other arrangements”. How is a day ahead of time enough time to make other arrangements when it’s busy season for vacations & already a shortage on rentals. I then call corporate for them to act like they didn’t know what to do or how to do their job & to say the same thing, “there’s nothing we can do”. Absolutely disgusted by this place, I don’t know how a well ran business would allow this to happen & allow it to happen with such a short notice & show no empathy & not try to help. I highly advise everyone to rethink before going to this place. Very unhelpful & very unprofessional.
Absolutely terrible. Was supposed to go pick up my car at 9 AM, got there and no one was there. There was no call to let me know it wouldn’t be available. They didn’t call when they got their several hours late to let me know I could come get it. When I got there at one o’clock that afternoon they didn’t even apologize. Terrible company
Terrible service. The car smelled like a bar ashtray. I immediately tried to exchange it for another but they said they had no more cars, even though three of my friends were able to get similar rentals a few hours later at the same place. Its 80 something degrees and I have to drive with the windows down because the smell is making me nauseous.
Location temporarily closed due to staffing. They tell you to go to airport Hertz locations.

Lee is the absolute best; service and vehicles are great will never use anyone else!
Very bad service. I got there at 8:00 am and the Lee at this location came in at 8:30, 30 min late, and he was the only one working there. I asked to rent a car and I was given the run around for 3 hours waiting inside. Also he had 2 drivers trying to gang up on me when I was complaining about the run around. They told me you are far from the airport and the only place that can help is us, so stay there and wait until we can help you. They know that you are far from the airport and you don’t have much options available around so the don’t care about costumer service. Very very rude people, the drivers and Drew. I will never ever rent from Herts again. They were other costumes who had rented a Van, and they were being told that they do not have a Van available. The worst experience ever. Please stay away from this place. Do Not Rent from this place.
Out of cars. Didn’t notify their customers that had reservations booked. Had to spend uber fees to get there and back.
When I arrive at my scheduled pick up time, the door is locked and no one appears to be in the office. Maybe 10 minutes later some guy comes to the door and apologizes ... so everything is okay. First car reeked of cigarette smoke so I went back to the office (he locked the door again) but he answered and quickly gave me another car - super thankful for that. Weekend over - returning car on Monday morning at 0630 - no key box. Left car there with key above visor. Tried calling office 6 times from work and each time there was no ability to leave a message and he clearly had everything set to DND. Office was technically open but he wasnt answering calls. No email receipt or anything ... super frustrating.
Website says you can “pick up your car and go” which isn’t true at all. Waited over an hour just to get told told my reserved and already paid for car was not available. Place is a poorly run disaster.
The Hertz office in Daphne Alabama really made the experience of renting a vehicle easy and stress free. The vehicle was clean and everyone was very nice during the quick process. Thank you again.
Dropped a friend off to pick her car up and the door was locked there was however a note saying the employee was helping someone and he would be right back.... an hour no employee call the number it just ring ring ring ring ring. There was not an employee in the parking lot where all the Hertz cars were so I have no clue where the person was. Extremely unprofessional way to run a business.
Showed up at 8am and no one was there. Waited 50min til anyone showed up. Real professional, these guys...
Do not use this rental service. The vehicles are filthy, they don’t treat loyal customers the way they claim to, and their Fort Walton Beach airport location is ran horribly. Was scammed out of almost a thousand dollars. Furious and disgusted by their customer service. Plan to report the Hertz at the VPS airport to the BBB. I hope nobody else goes through what we did. Ruined the first 2 days of our vacation. They will ask you to leave and call another number or email them at a different location, rather than taking care of you right then and there. My husband is in the presidential circle with Hertz and this is how we were treated. I can only imagine if we were new customers. Absolutely sick about the way this place is ran!

Had a good experience here and would rent again. Took off one star because there was no windshield washer fluid and low oil (25% when we left down to 8% when we returned). There was a bit of trash in the vehicle also but I can overlook that. Next time we will definitely check oil and washer fluid beforehand. However the rental price here was phenomenal. Thumbs up.

Rented a car for three weeks, love the service I received and car was brand new Hybrid Ford Focus 2018 and just loved it!
Best selection for cars in this area and have rented from them for all my trips, but one day Ill rent from them and they will take cash, next rental they will not accept cash.... 🤷
Scott the manager was great! Toyota Corolla was brand new, only 5000 miles and spotless.
Im very upset and will never use this location again nor would I recommend anyone else to them either. I called several times before even renting my vehicle and was hung up on when I asked for rates being told the lines were messed up. So I arranged a ride to the location and when I got there I was told they didnt have any vehicle that would fit my husband, myself, and my 3 kids besides a luxury SUV which would cost me a fortune but I really didnt have a choice as I was without a ride and needed a rental. When I returned the vehicle I was told a way bigger amount than I was told I would have to pay (plus they had a deposit due to me having just a debit card). It seems as if keeping my deposit as well. When I asked why it was so much I was told that he is accusing me of smoking in this luxury SUV that I have my children in. When I informed him I did not smoke in vehicle ever and neither did anyone in my vehicle I was told that because I vaccuumed it out before bringing it back that i looked guilty. Mind you I have small choldren who make food messes so I vacummed to avoid losing my deposit due to mess. You would think they would appreciate it. Then he said he saw ashes... Well I asked where and he pointed out a speck of dirt or dust. How ridiculous. I then asked to speak to a manager which there wasnt one there and the employee told me that he would leave my rental open and have a manager call me in just a litle while when he returned. I NEVER received a call. I have called and cannot get anyone on the phone. I have not seen a itemized bill showing me what i have been charged for or what i have paid or if my deposit was paid back since he said he added the $400 fine for smoking but also kept my deposit. Someone needs to make this right. As of right now I still have an open rental with them and I dont have possesion of the vehicle. Never spoke to a supervisor. And being charged for smoking when i did not smoke. Watch out. NO customer service whatsoever. Unhelpful answers and attitudes that made you feel like they could care less if you were there customer or not.

Got into an accident and the people who hit me their insurance covered me a rental car wow somehow I missed placed the key and had to call and get them to tow the car to the airport so I found the key and called them and told them that I had the key meanwhile they had my $50 deposit and they weren’t going to release it to me so then I filed a dispute with my bank and it was four in the amount of 400 and something dollars and my bank investigated it and I got my money back However keep in mind me and my father did a three-way with the district manager and was extremely rude to my father and so he said that if my bank to speed or that then I would get a bill in the mail And I simply told him OK will you send me a bill and I’m going to return it to sender because for one it was not my fault and for two it just was an unprofessional situation they’re very rude there and I do not recommend anybody renting a vehicle from them they’re crooks and I’ll take your money and not give you your deposit back so BEWARE of this business!
Consistently one of the best car rental locations I have EVER used - and that is easily 100+. If you are anywhere near the Florida panhandle, this is the place to get a great car from some awesome people.
I booked a economy car a day in advance and at last minute they told me I should wait for the next car available. They sent me to a different location and made me lost 4 hours of my time, at the end they rented me a very expensive car. Bad service!!!

Absolutely terrible service, they ignore people that walk into get a car, say it will be a few minutes when they really mean a few hours, and I’ve waited since 11am for my car and it’s now 5:40pm and they didn’t even have the decency to call me to let me know they couldn’t get me a car. I’d never use this place again.
Drew answered the Phone....asked me if I mind holding...came right back on and locked me on for a rental....1 way to Gainsville GA from Destin FL........WITH my Military Rate it is $120 LESS then what Enterprise quoted me..... Rock On Drew....!!!!!
Hertz was great as always. The employee who picked me up, John Bell, was great.

The idea of having a credit check to rent a car is absolutely ridiculous.

Made an online reservation. Tried to pick up and drop off at a different location, but it wouldnt let me. I tried to edit my order after placing it and it would not let me do it online. I called corporate, the local office, and it would never go to a person. I tried the Internet two more times and it would not let me. Kept reverting to pick up and drop off at the same location. When I picked up my car I told him the situation and he told me just to go ahead and drop it off andthere might be a small fee. Small as an a $120? Because thats what I was charged to drop it off 20 miles away at the airport. They wont do anything about itanything about it . I will never use Hertz again
