The House of Mercy is, without a doubt, the best addiction treatment center in central Iowa for women. The center is full of mothers and non-mothers alike. After your first assessment, it takes usually 7-14 days to be admitted. You’ll be added to the waiting list and get an intake date. When that day comes, you’ll bring all the things you need to make your stay there feel as “at home” as possible. You’ll be assigned 5 different counselors, right off the bat. An employment therapist, a parenting counselor (if you are a mother), a 1:1 therapist (that will confront the issues that keep bringing you back to addiction), and more.The House of Mercy makes SURE you’re ready to leave before they outplace you. Some people stay 90 days, others are there for 6 months. They make sure you have saved enough money through employment. And they help you find a place of your own within your budget.They also work directly with DHS and CPS, so if you are fighting to regain custody of your children, they facilitate that fight. Infact, a majority of mothers there are fighting that fight. So you won’t feel alone in the fight.I’d highly recommend this facility. It changed my life.
