I got to visit Earl’s shop earlier this week when on a late night trip from Vermillion, SD to Kansas City, KS.Earl was very accommodating when it came to my tire woes seeing as I had been stranded en route. When my tire blew in Blenco, IA., a nice sheriff in Monoma Co. changed it for me and gave me a jump start while I road my donut all the way to Council Bluffs. I arrived in Council Bluffs around 4am and was supposed to land in KC by 5:30. My parents (in KC) agreed the best move was for me to head to Des Moines and they would meat me there the next day with my daughter. I won’t get into details, but I had a few complications with paperwork, but Earl was very thorough in making sure I was taken care of.Earl accepted me as a walk in even though they traditionally only work off schedules. He also was very up front on quality and specs on the available tires. When he asked what tire I would like, I answered “which ever you would trust putting your 3yo granddaughter in during a South Dakota winter.” He then recommended a tire by Cooper with a nationwide warranty. He broke down the difference between the cheapest tire and this tire, as well as the most expensive (a difference of ~$9 per tire on both sides), and explained that the more expensive tire did not even meet the specs as the Cooper. This meant a lot to me (and my parents) with the no BS sales pitch and just pure efficiency in getting me in the shop and on the road again.All in all, we ended up having to go back the next morning for the replacements due to a complication with the person before me, but getting there at 9am, I was back on the road before 11.I ultimately picked this shop based on reviews, one of which stated the shop cat didn’t make up for the other person’s experience; however, the shop cat was just the cherry on top for my experience.Great locally owned shop and I’m sure if I’m in the area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to return. I felt like I was treated nothing short of family.

I needed to get a tire patched that had a screw in it. When I called they informed me they are normally by appointment only but were able to squeeze me in for such a simple repair. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. Extremely helpful and professional. Plus a cute dilute tortie cat to hang out with too.

Earls Tire did a fantastic job of helping me pick out a new set of wheels for my car and then did an excellent job of installing them. I came back for the 100 mile re-torque of the lug nuts on a Saturday when they were closed (didnt know they were closed as they had changed their hours for the pandemic). Steven was working in the shop while they were closed to get caught up on some commercial accounts. He took time out from his scheduled work to re-torque my wheels. Highly recommend Earls Tire ... great product and excellent service!

Im so glad I found this place, and will never have to hunt for a tire/wheel/suspension shop again! I worked with Earl himself, and man what a great guy! He worked very hard to find me the wheels and tires I wanted, and was even texting me pictures of options. He ordered everything I wanted, and got it promptly and professionally installed at a very reasonable price. They were honest, and Id absolutely trust their judgement and recommendations. This is just a genuinely good company, and I will absolutely be using them for all my vehicles in the future!

Great place to get tires replaced. I needed a couples of tires that matched some existing ones as far as tread depth because I have all-wheel drive and they took the time to go find a matching set.

They fixed my tire and everything was great. It didnt last long but it wasnt their fault. My rims are just naturally too big for my vehicle. Great service though.

Brought my car in with a shaky steering wheel. A prior mechanic told me that I needed new rod ties and was going to charge me ~$900 for the repairs. When I brought it to Earls, they did a thorough inspection and did more than just replace the rod ties... for $450. They stand by their work, their service is great, and they wont charge you a fortune. Do yourself a favor and go to this shop.

Got an alignment and it took 45 minutes and was a great price.

What a wonderful experience today! I had called here 1st. They didnt do a lot of used tires, directed me to their 2nd ave location. I called and they were also very helpful. I communicated with my AAA service tech yo take it to the 2nd ave location and handed them my keys. I get a call from the Scotts location saying that AAA dropped my car off there instead. But not to worry, they were sending someone to grab a tired across town, and would call when it was done. They are just wonderful! Ill be directing any and all inquiries their way. Thanks guys!

Great service great price they were half the price of the dealership and the last set the dealership ruined all four rims from scratches on an aluminum rim . Consistently fair pricing. Consistently excellent customer service. in my last visit, I thought I had a major problem. Earls realized it was a minor issue (saving me money) and sent someone across town to get a part - allowing me to get my car back sooner.

Needed a single used tire. Time from my first phone call to driving out on a good tire was less than 1.5 hrs. They even put the donut completely away, secured and all, not just tossed in the back. Will definitely be going back when it’s time. Thanx fellas!!

So, I went to this shop based on reviews. Guy over the phone said 15$ a tire to mount and balance. Cool. Awesome. Drove 13 miles to them. Before he even greeted me, said woah! Your trying to fit that tiny tire on that huge rim? Charges me 47$ instead of the quoted price, because its dangerous for his technician. I wanted a mild stretch. Nothing crazy. Like tire stretching hasnt been around for years. Not to mention his attitude towards the concept was so unprofessional. So, if you have a modified wheel/tire setup. Forget these guys. Go to bills whitewall. That goes for any location.

I took my car into Earl’s to get a new tire after one had gone flat. Justin(guy behind the counter) was courteous and efficient. He told they would be done by 3. I call back at 3 to see if I can pick it up. Justin tells me I didn’t need a new tire just a patch and it’s on the house! These guys are the best!!

The one word I would use to describe Earl’s tire is: integrity. While waiting for my tire repair (which was done at no charge) I could hear Earl dealing with a customer over the phone who was unsatisfied. Instead of just invoking the typical,” not my problem”, Earl dug into his records, interviewed his staff and made quite an investigation to get at what really happened. As I left he was calling around trying to find another tire to solve the customers issue. You just don’t see that level of personal accountability anymore. I will be back-but hopefully not for a little while! Thanks!

I came in to the Scott St. location with a very flat tire. I didnt think it was repairable, and had given them permission that if it couldnt be repaired to replace it and its mate with new tires. Not only did they call me right away after finding out what was up, they said it was completely repairable.I am overjoyed by their honesty, when they could have easily made a sale for 2 brand new tires. I would happily do business with them again.

Quick efficient

I purchased 2 new tires from Earls Tires in Nov of 2015. After my appointment I drove to work. After working all day- going to my car in the dark, I discover that my front passenger tire is COMPLETELY flat. This was one of the new tires they put on. After I changed to my spare and made it home, I called them first thing the next morning. I took it in and it turns out that whomever did my tires didnt make sure it was sealed properly. It doesnt stop there though! After that, when driving on the interstate (going 60MPH or more) my entire steering wheel would tremble/shake. I called them and they said they would come retrieve the car from my work the following day - I waited for the time they said they would come and they never showed. Two hours later I called and told me that they were sending someone right away - they forgot. Turns out, the reason that I was experiencing trouble with my front end/the steering wheel was trembling was because they totally spaced off balancing the tires. I wont be going back. Honestly, the only good parts of my experience was that they were at least nice.... the best part of the experience? The cat that lives in the waiting room. Although shes super cute and sweet- its not a reason to buy tires from a place that didnt take my safety OR their reputation seriously. Im finding a new place.

Driving across country with a 6month old and a 6year old wasnt hard enough, My tire, and my spare popped! I drive a Mercedes benz gl550 no one in Iowa has my type of tires!!! R21! its a odd number tire so no one carries it. Kati SAVED me! she was able to order me brand new tires, get it hooked up and had me out of there in less than 2hrs! I was so amazed! I love that its a family owned business so when you are there they make you feel like family. Great guys! Ordered 4 tires and only one showed up so they made sure the other 3 got there quick! And the delivery guy ended up getting stuck behind a train for 45 minutes but once the tires for there it took them 10 minuets to put them on and I was on my way. I have definitely found my new tire shop. I live in indianola and will travel all the way to the Scott street location!

Had mishap with some debris on the interstate and punctured a tire. Took it to Earls,and they didnt try and sell me tires,they looked at it and said it could be repaired! They took care if it and when I tried to pay he said no charge! Said I was a hardworking guy that deserved a break! He has no idea how much that was needed right now. Just FYI. I never give five stars, but I have always received great service at Earls. I was having problems with my brakes. When I called my regular shop and explained my issue, they advised that I wait a week until they could fit me in. I want and talked to Elmer at Earls By his grimace I could tell he was busy, but he said he would find a way to get it done. Within 24 hours my car is back and fixed and my peace of mind restored (and likely at a much better rate than I could expect elsewhere). Im not even a regular customer but Elmer still gave me top-notch and courteous treatment. For competent, competitive and helpful service, Ive seen no better in Des Moines. Thanks. T.
