I cant stress this enough- If you are a young woman dealing with a sexual disorder, Dr. Coons is not right for you. I found her card at N2 physical therapy while undergoing treatment for my disorder, and called her since I was told that there were no good sex therapists at kaiser. Instead of helping me find ways to cope, she tried to push me to have normal sex or a more normalized kind of sex than I could have at the time, which made me think she was quite ableist. She hardly even wanted to talk about my disorder, or the fact that I was getting ready to off myself because I fell in love with someone who didnt love me. All she could do was point out the banality of being so upset about something that really wasnt that bad. When she looked at me, all she could see was someone unemployed with no degree, and we had to hurry up and fix that. She didnt bother getting to know me, which would make her realize that I had major depression, PTSD, and panic disorder among other things that probably were contributing to my situation. Perhaps she does help other people with very different problems than mine, but if you are looking for a sex therapist who deals with sexual disorders, she is not for you. I have really never met a therapist like this before who made me feel so ashamed of how I felt and who I was.
