I have called over 20 treatment centers in Colorado and California for my step-daughter over the last couple days and Sandstone was BY FAR the most helpful center. Claire has been so helpful, kind and calming in such a scary time for our family. She made herself available even over the weekend and followed up with us several times to make sure that we had found a center. She offered to help us find something even if Sandstone wasn’t the right fit for us. Thank you Claire.
Professional and efficient. I never worry when I send a referral their way. I always hear back and theyre always helpful.
There is nothing to improve upon in my opinion. The face of Sandstone began with Ms. Priscilla Gonzalez. Her compassion, passion and confidence in her quest of saving lives cannot be put into words. Her value to Sandstone Care and to the world cannot be deemed with a price. My daughter would not be receiving the care that she needed in order to save her life without the help and the fight we received from Priscilla. I have no doubt she will continue on until her last breath to keep fighting the good fight for people. The count on one hand would cover the amount of people that could be found in this world that could match what Priscilla has to give. Since the words, thank you, are all the civilized world has to use, we will give back with those words and I know Priscilla will understand what goes into them. This is not to take away from the entire team that I have been in contact with after our admission to Sandstone Care, which also includes the billing team! The peace that flowed over my daughter, myself and my son when we dropped her off could be seen in the surreal smile my daughter had from ear to ear. You cannot fake energy and culture. She is flourishing and receiving the professional and compassionate care that she needs. I can hear it in her voice each evening. Our worlds have been rocked to the core with this experience with my daughter and will be forever changed. We are just so grateful that our paths have lead us to Sandstone to help us navigate through it all with peace and confidence. Please make sure to share this with the Entire Staff of Sandstone Care as far as you touch families across the nation and/or world.Cathi M.
I’ve been in treatment twice now. I have to say Sandstone is the most amazing place I’ve been. I don’t understand how anyone could see this place negatively. The staff is amazing at what they do. They really help you prioritize sobriety over anything else. My personal opinion is that distraction is a huge cause for relapse, but this place helps you delve deep into your heart and find the reason why you drank or used in the first place. This sober living house is also a great place to learn how to start over. I love the people here and can’t thank the, enough for all they’ve done for me. Sandstone and it’s staff has really helped me change my life for the better. I highly recommend to anyone who is struggling with addiction. This is the first step to a better life.
Sandstone has been a life saver for our son and our family. He has a dual diagnosis and the program is exactly what he needed to get his life back on track. THANK YOU to everyone at Sandstone!!!!
I would not recommend this place to anyone for many reasons. First, the staff is unresponsive and consistent communication is incredibly inconsistent and lacking. Second, on paper it sounds like it would be a good program but they do only about half of the weekly activities listed. The family therapy via zoom is a mess. You are in a group with 15+ other families, the amount of actual therapy you do is minimal in the 3 hour time frame, and the main counselor is very condescending to all participants. Lastly, when my son stopped attending they would not discharge him and continued to bill my insurance company.
As a former client of sandstone I would not recommend. If you have any other priorities do not go here. The program must be your only commitment because there is not much flexibility with scheduling. I also had bad experience with the psychologist. Only got a 5 minute meeting and was horrible about refills. It was a group setting which was great to meet other people but you can be forgotten about. The communication between the staff was also bad. I was forgotten about when moving from iop to op. The family night was probably the best part of the program
I was a patient at Sandstone Care a year ago in January and words cannot even begin to express how much this place has changed my life. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and all around good people. They care about their clients, are invested, and will go to extremes to make sure we are okay, safe and that our needs are taken care of. I did two rounds of care at Sandstone and both times I was treated with respect and got the help I was seeking. My therapist, Trisha Johnson, was the most amazing therapist I had and taught me so much about myself that I didnt even recognize. They have unique methods of teaching, understanding, and mentoring that has helped me become an entirely new person.Sandstone has changed my life--they saved my life from going down a dangerous path I did not want. I have been sober for a little over a year now and choosing Sandstone was the best decision of my life. I have my life back and all the people who saw me struggle has seen this new version of me and are also very grateful for what Sandstone does for their clients. This place helped me make sober connections and long lasting friendships. They also have a staff I will never forget and be forever grateful for.If anyone is struggling with mental health and addiction, I highly recommend Sandstone Care. Unlike other facilities, Sandstone cares about people and what they do with their life. If it wasnt for my decision to go here for help, I would definitely not be where I am today or successful with my life. I could go on and on about my experience here, because I never had a recovery program like this before. After completing my time at Sandstone Care, I now know my true self, and love myself more than I ever have!
Great drug and alcohol treatment program. Very experienced team doing wonderful work!
I know that this entire process is very hard and stressful. I am so glad that I got the chance to go to sandstone. My mental health has beensignificantly better. I met new friends I go to meetings with and hang out with. Thank you, Sandstone for bringing back the happy girl I lost a long time ago. I wouldnt still be here if it wasnt for all the help and support, Igot along my journey.
A very friendly environment, you feel like family there within a short amount of time. I’ve grown a lot and that’s with the help of all the super kind staff
Sandstone was one of the BEST facilities I’ve been able to attend in my opinion. I have been thrown into 13 different rehabs since I was 16 all across the United States I am now 25. I’ve attended “top of the line and highly rated rehabs” such as Hazelden Bettyford. I was never able to scrap up more the 3 or 4 months. At sandstone I was able to put together close to a year under there care at the sober living.Sandstone stands out the most because they gave me chances when Other places had kicked me out. I came in from living in my car, I called every day begging for help unsure I’d make it and they were able to get me in ASAP. I made some friendships I still have two years later with patients and primarily staff. I have a therapist that has worked with me on addiction and trauma (EMDR) I still see her once a week and twice when needed. I hope to some day be able to work with the sandstone team and do for others what was done for me.To be clear I attended the boulder woman’s sober living and now am a part of the Denver alumni! This place changed my life. Thank you Ben, Kelly, Kim, Annabelle, Liam, and the whole sandstone family.
My situation is unique and I require a factuality that could meet a specific set of requirements. I called sandstone to be greeted by Brittany who took time out of her day to hear out my unique situation. Unfortunately sandstone did not meet those requirements. Instead of leaving me to fend for myself, she emailed me a list of places that might be able to help me out. The people here care!! They are going to make sure everybody gets the treatment they need regardless if it is with them or not.
I am a current Admission Coordinator at the Denver facility, but work for all locations for Sandstone Care. This company continunously blows me away with the passion all employees have, and the care we provide individually for every client that walks through the door. As an Admission Coordinator we also provide resources for people who may not be an appropriate fit for one of our programs. Sandstone Care hands down gives the best all around experience if you are in need of a life changing moment to learn how to learn a new life away from substances. 10/10!!
Change of review. They answered the phone and am being helped with great service, thank you!
As a referring community partner I can say that Sandstone Care is an excellent program. We at Denver Recovery Center have referred several patients to Sandstone Care for detox. The experience has been good for the patient and the admissions process is always very smooth. I would highly recommend Sandstone Care.
We had a very negative experience at the Sandstone Denver residential treatment center for teens. The primary therapist was aggressive. Sensitive information shared without our permission. Poor oversight and insufficient care of the kids. It was a traumatic experience for our family during a difficult period of time. Would not recommend, there are superior residential programs available.
I started at Sandstone in the Colorado Springs detox center 7/20/2019 and was amazed by how comfortable the atmosphere was. It was the best place I could have imagined to go through what I was experiencing at the time. I transitioned into the IOP program up in Denver, which is where I live and the experience there continued to be exactly what I needed in order to maintain my sobriety. My therapist during IOP (Trish) was absolutely astounding in my recovery. She saw what kinds of tools that worked for me and focused on helping me learn and master them. After IOP, I transitioned into the OP program with Carrie. Carrie continued to live up to my expectation of Sandstone and provided a comfortable environment for me to check in once a week with her and my peers, who were able to understand everything I was going through.I stayed in IOP as long as possible as I did not want to lose my connection with Sandstone and then the Alumni program was started.Kelly has been an amazing asset to Sandstone as the new Alumni coordinator. I feel that the weekly meet ups have been essential in my recovery and she has made the experience one that I thoroughly enjoy every week! I believe that the success of the individuals going through the Sandstone program (no matter which path they take) NEED something at the end to know that they will not be forgotten.I hit my one year of sobriety on 7/20/2020 and I could not have done it without the support and love that I received through this program. My entire journey through Sandstone has changed my life forever and I have become a better person as a result of my peers, family, Trish, Kelly and Carrie!Thank you!
All the people are amazing at Sandstone. We had an excellent experience as a family who supports a child with addictions. I would recommend them to anyone who needs help.
My Son was recently admitted to SandStone. While going through the admissions procedures and working with Walter and Kristin, it was amazing how gentle, kind, communicative they were all while understanding some of the hardship and issues going on in our lives. It was so nice to have the support of the staff. Walter worked hand-in-hand with us and our insurance to make sure he could maximize our benefits and make sure the commitment made to us would stand while providing the best of care for Zack.I am completely amazed at the truthfulness and honesty of this team of heroes.
Sandstone Care is one of the best places out there for young adults to get the quality care they need. The team is always professional and treat their clients as individuals, with treatment plans tailored to each client. Sandstone gives families a chance to grow and learn to support one another again. Teens and young adults will be supported with their vocational and academic endeavors with the guidance of the Sandstone Care team. I work for another organization, and we always feel confident in our clients continuing care with Sandstone because we know they will be in great hands. If you are unsure of where to start, you won’t go wrong starting here.
I work in Sandstone Cares Denver office. Although I do not work directly with the clients, I am constantly impressed by how every aspect of the business is run with our clients best interest in mind. I am encouraged and supported to thrive personally and professionally and I see that happening for my entire team. This creates a positive and supportive workplace that I am proud to be a part of every day. I am convinced that our teamwork and support for each other translates to the people we support and improves their experience. I have been blown away by the dedication and expertise of the clinical team as well. If you are looking for treatment for yourself or a loved on, or if you are looking for work in addiction treatment, I highly recommend Sandstone Care.
Cant say enough good things about this organization and its commitment to helping young people who are struggling with substance use and mental health. Professional, knowledgeable and on your side. Definitely the place in Denver to receive care.
The rehab was beautiful and so was the location. Some staff were nice and the food was good. But the reason they get one star is because I had an unknown medical condition which I later found out was endometriosis. They ended up letting me go 17 days out of 30 days because they didn’t want to be liable in case my pain was worse than they thought. So they sprung it on me that I was leaving and I expressed some depression and suicidal thoughts for them kicking me out, and instead of helping me they put me on an M1 hold which made the thoughts worse and sent me to a mental hospital instead. I never got the full treatment I needed to succeed and battle my addictions. So I’ve had to fight this battle on my own which I’m doing a wonderful job at. When I got there I told them please don’t open all my mental wounds and then throw me away. They promised they wouldn’t but that’s exactly what they did. If you want mental health help or addiction recovery sandstone care is not the way to go.
Very helpful and professional staff. The team is wonderful to work with and they are doing great things in the Denver area!
My son did not meet the criteria for admission, yet Rick and his team in Rockville went the extra mile and researched other facilities that might could be a good fit for us. Completely beyond my expectations. If I were ever to need to use their services, that level of care and concern alone would tip the scales in their favor.
I have witnessed the miracles in process since the beginning. This program was well-received in Denver and continues to offer world-class treatment options for patients and their families. I have referred my clients, who need a higher level of care that offered in my practice, and will continue to partner with this stellar program. The continuum of care is essential, and Sandstone Care is doing it right.
As a psychiatric hospital treating both Addiction and Mental Health for adults and adolescents in the region, Denver Springs is thrilled to partner with Sandstone Care in an effort to spearhead the recovery process and walk with and support those individuals AND families seeking long term sobriety and mental health wellness. We work with Marcello and his team on a weekly basis and have had great success...they are top shelf clinicians and even better people...Sandstone really understands the needs of the family as well.
Working with the team at Sandstone Care drug and alcohol center has been an amazing experience. Every team member cares about the work they do with helping teens and their families.
Can’t say enough good things about Sandstone Care. Caring and compassionate team doing incredible work.
Sandstone Care is one of the few treatment programs providing high quality outpatient services. Many outpatient programs are cookie cutter and Sandstone really makes an effort to go above and beyond with the family therapy and academic vocational services. Highly recommend them for any adolescents and young adults struggling with substance use/mental health.
The team at Sandstone Care is incredible! They are so invested in the families they work with and go above and beyond to help clients. Truly an amazing program!
Excellent staff and counselors
I called to get some research for the area and Tim was very kind and helpful with the outreach and to find a correct placement if I werr to weigh the option of moving to another state.
I have worked with Sandstone Care where we have referred some of our clients to continue their path of recovery. The staff has been very responsive to helping our clients. From scheduling tours and rides to helping them see themselves recovery and get their voices back. They have a large team of professional therapists. They have beautiful buildings and rooms that help young adults.
Ive collaborated with Sandstone Care several times, and am always impressed by their professionalism and dedication to doing what really helps with struggling clients. Their staff is well educated, trained, and experienced, and they take their work seriously, and their Denver facility is lovely.
Considerations from a former employee:**A quick note, nearly all of the reviews are from current employees and their family members. An interesting move for a company that stresses the value of integrity.Pros:+ Full benefits+ Wonderfully kind, experienced therapists+ Large, sunny office space+ Therapy dogs on site (occasionally)+ Ample, off-street parking+ Strong dual diagnosis treatment center**Sandstone Care is truly one of the best treatment programs that Ive come across. They sincerely know what good programming looks like and their therapists are top notch. I loved my job and the position I held within the company.Cons:- High employee turnover- No HR department- Inexperienced supervisors- Cliquey environment- Employees prone to gossipAdvice to management:Invest in creating an HR department. During my first week of employment a woman resigned and posted a note to the entire organization to the effect of, No matter how hard you work, it wont matter if you arent in with the right crowd. Her sentiment rang true. During my time at Sandstone Care, my character was attacked in ways that were not quantifiable nor justified. I was regularly subjected to verbal abuse from a male superior, notably, that I needed to smile more, make more eye contact, and stop sighing. My employment was threatened more than once solely on the basis of how I was perceived in the office - instead of productive feedback, I was told that if I couldnt figure out what that meant or how to change on my own then I must not be self-aware. I had never in my 10 years of steady employment received this type of criticism. The work environment is toxic and hostile, reminiscent of a small-town high school. When I sought help from senior management I was told, verbatim, We disagree with the statements and your assertion about the work environment being hostile. There was no room for a dialogue. My choice to leave the company was not easy. I sincerely enjoyed my position and was excited to go to work every day. However, the lack of support was extremely disappointing and ultimately was why I chose to move on.Instill the empathy and values in your employees, particularly management, that are taught in your treatment program.
Though Sanstone Care was unable to help with our situation they were very professional and knowledgeable. They kept in contact and followed up with us
Sandstone Care has a professional, highly-skilled, supportive team that even offers incredible support to the entire family system. Their facilities are beautiful, clean and very welcoming.
1 Star because 98% the ratings are the staff that work their... You’re hurting your buisness by telling all your employees to write something about how amazing this place is, then telling them to put it 5-stars. It’s okay though, it will take a couple years for costomers to balance the ratings out, great marketing technique👍🏽 Next time integrity will benefit you!🤠
I couldn’t be in a better treatment program. Brannon Pruet truly is the definition of humble, caring and professional. Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to have in my life right now.
I’ve been going to sandstone for a little over 2 months and I am a completely new person. They took care of me and every single staff member there took an interest in me as if I were the only patient. I suffered from meth addiction and PTSD, and I’ve healed tremendously.
Well I wanted to go here although I apparently had to jump through hoops to do so. I must say Im quit unhappy sandstone coaxed me out to Colorado with the idea of an assessment and then added a bunch of requirements only to not even do that assessment. After my assessment which ends up not even counting they say I need to detox. The detox place they basically force me to go to (Denver springs) forces me to go cold turkey (they don’t even give me suboxene) even tho i have goosebumps and Chills and all the symptoms one could think of. They (Sandstone) also said if I didn’t go to detox, I could detox myself and then wait weeks and weeks for an assessment after they already told me I could fly out and have one. Pretty upset with the time I wasted with them and they were very unflexible. I did leave detox although it was not against medical advice and yet they still complained and didn’t schedule me another assessment.During the fake assessment I did have with them, they insisted I went to the detox or couldn’t get “a real assessment” (which is why I even went to detox) and then were telling me I had to leave now and leave my stuff at the hotel I was staying at because I wasn’t save to drive and just had to detox RIGHT NOW. I was functioning and in my right mind, mind you ( on a normal dose of subuxone. That I had been for weeks.) and who in the world could just leave their belongings at a hotel that ends the next day ? I even said they could help me get my stuff if they didn’t want me driving and then the staff just talks in another room for what felt like an hour then told me I could go the next day. They just want your money and don’t seem to really want to help. Sad I wasted so much time with them and got no results from itThe high reviews seem to be all from staffLook elsewhere
I love the people at this place. The last few months have helped me immensely
I find that the staff and clinical team at Sandstone are professional, experienced and very passionate about the work they do.
I havent visited Sandstone Care having just started researching but they responded immediately to my queries. Jessie went out of her way to spend time on the phone giving me ideas and hope.
Went there for trouble with a teen and the sessions were well run, and the therapists were invested and competent. Unfortunately, they couldnt connect with our child as she wasnt willing to meet them half way.
An outstanding organization, committed to client well-being. A holistic approach to care.
Overall, I believe this is an excellent addiction treatment center. The staff are warm and welcoming, particularly the intake coordinator, Anne Kahn. The academic and vocational coordinator, Liam Grafton, is knowledable in virtually every feild, incredibly well spoken and has an ability to gently provide guidance and insight for struggling adolescents and young adults. His committment and passion for helping his clients is unparalleled, and he doesn’t let his personal opinions get in the way of doing job well. Liam has a unique ability to speak in obscure metaphors to get his point across to participants without offering direct advice, something I believe is very valuable in an immersive treatment facility like Sandstone. From my experience and observation as a program participant, I must say that Dr. Donna Grandi-Nikander is currently the most valuable asset of the program. Her ability to openly listen and provide heartfelt reflections has truly changed my life. The reason this is not a 5 Star review, is that I was very unimpressed with the resident LPC, Cindy Collinsworth. Collinsworth is the core reason I ultimately felt unsafe at Sandstone and chose to terminate my treatment at the center after a few days and seek treatment for my dependency issues elsewhere. To me, she seemed more like a bully than a therapist. I experienced her as incredibly unprofessional. I didn’t feel she cared to get to know me beyond my diagnosis of marijuana dependency. I made it obvious after I met with her three times that I thought the program wasn’t a right fit for me.Before we met for therapy, Collinsworth made her conservative political views blatantly obvious. The first group therapy session she led was about the various types of communication (passive, passive aggressive, assertive, etc.) which I found ironic because I experienced her as incredibly passive aggressive throughout my time at Sandstone. One day, she promised she would finish a conversation with me immediately after an all-staff meeting, but then promptly left work for the day without so much as waving goodbye. In passing, she made comments about my music taste that clearly were meant to be digs at me and my current individual situation. For example, I was listening to Everyday by Buddy Holly, a song about seizing the moment, and she interrupted her conversation with her boss to sneer “cool song” to me. Then, a few songs later I played What a Wonderful World by Sam Cooke, a song about how the lack of a quality education has nothing to do with experiencing true love, and she interrupted her conversation again to comment “I love this song.” I know it’s hard to see without the appropriate context, but it is clear to me that Collinsworth went out of her way to show me she thought I was arrogant. Furthermore, she had emotional regulatory issues so clear that other therapists used her as an example in group therapy. One day, she came in after getting rightfully pulled over and ticketed by law enforcement, and she was incredibly angry and defensive and swore she would go to court to dispute the ticket. It took her awhile to calm down and realize she needed to just pay the ticket because she had obviously violated the law. Two days before that, she damaged her 6-month-old car in the parking lot. When I attempted to sympathize with her over the tough day she’d had, she rolled her eyes at me. So, I apologized for bringing it up. She was silent. To put it simply, I hope that Collinsworth learns to practice what she preaches so she can provide sincere and helpful support for her struggling clients at Sandstone.
Sandstone Care staff care deeply about the recovery process and can help families!
