This place is super cute. Parking was easy on the street. I was greeted by the owner Christina when I walked in. They salon is so sophisticated, clean and decorations are perfect. I was offered and received a tasty glass of wine (there are non-alcoholic options as well). Vanessa my stylist was prompt, had great ideas for my color, and was great to chat with during the services. I had a balayage (I love it!) and blow dry and the products were exactly what my frizzy hair from the rain needed. Next time I’m adding a cut. The person who shampooed gave a great scalp massage and I left feeling pampered and beautiful. They offered a shower cap to leave because I was raining!! Booking online was easy and checkout was seamless. The service costs are reasonable and I can’t wait for my next appointment!!

Would you believe me if I told you that Christina did the hair of 12 women, including the bride, in 6 short hours on my wedding day? AND every single one of us looked amazing, if I do say so myself. If you know anything about her then you probably have no problem believing this. I first went to Christina to have my hair done for my high school sophomore semi-formal 15 years ago!! Since then I have moved to Virginia and I still come back to MA to see Christina, as do my mom and my sister. She’s done my hair for every major life event so far and it just didn’t seem right to not have her at my wedding. When we asked her to join us in North Carolina’s Outer Banks she agreed without hesitation and when we told her the long list of people needing hair help on that day, she told us, no problem. And so, the story goes. My hair looked perfect, and she even added some really wonderful special touches to the hair of my mom and sisters as a surprise to them. Everyone in the wedding party could not stop singing her praises. We love Christina!! Also, the salon itself is amazing, go there!

I had my first cut at Philosphē with Allie and it was a great experience overall. She asked me about my hair, what I was looking for, and then went straight to work. I have a ton of hair, so getting a cut is quite an endeavor, but my hair came out beautiful. Allie was professional and friendly, as was the owner, Christina. This was my first new stylist since I was a child, but Ive been converted to Philosophē. Highly recommend!

I went to this place for a full weave paid for it when it fell apart in two weeks I called back.I received a alot of negatively. All I wanted was for her to fix my hair. I paid 200.00 including a nice tip. My hair only looked good for 2 weeks. And then fell apart. Never have I paid for such nonsense.BAD BUSINESS. Please save your money. Dont trust this shop they only care about ripping their customers off.

Besides this hair salon being the absolute CUTEST place Ive ever been to, the staff surpasses that in professionalism & friendliness. Betsy is my go to girl. Its like hanging out with one of my friends because we chat the entire time and I always leave feeling like a beauty queen. I cant even keep track the amount of compliments I receive on my hair daily. I refer everyone to her and to Philosophe.

Amazing place! The stylist Neli.K is the BEST! My hair is done perfectly every time i come in for a cut.All the staff is very professional and super friendly. The salon feels like a high-end place with a great selection of courtesy snacks and drinks.

Philosophe has been my one and only place for both my hair and eyebrows for as long as I can remember! I have a lot of hair, and it is very thick, and many salons cannot manage it that well. But at Philosophe, I have never had to worry about it! Christina has been cutting my hair and threading my eyebrows since I was a teenager, and I am always beyond satisfied with my results. My haircuts are always beautiful and my hair is super healthy and strong! I buy all my hair products from the salon as well and love everything I get. The salon is always clean and organized and the service from all the girls is amazing!

Good COVID practices, lots of signs and very distanced. Feels relatively safe. Also high quality services for both hair and nails.

I went through the Cinderella transformation that is their « Bling Bling Blonde » package done with Laurina C and could not be happier. I went from a dark brown to blonde, with minimal to no damage, (i actually think that I came out with healthier hair in the end thanks to their hair facial!) and without having to cut off really any of the length! I went in with a photo and a dream, and fully expecting her to tell me that it was unrealistic but after a very detailed consultation she found a way to achieve something that was even better than what I was looking for. All of the girls there are extremely kind and helpful and contributed to such a beautiful atmosphere in an already beautiful salon. Laurina is extremely knowledgeable in her craft and taught me about good hair practices and products to use and answered all of my millions of questions about the process. I cannot recommend this salon enough, they will make your hair dreams come true❤️

I can’t say enough great things about this salon; it’s like a little second home to me with built-in hair besties. I went in for a wash, blow-dry and style for a last-minute event at the beginning of the summer when I was feeling “blah,” and fell in love with the funky vibe of the place. It’s like a slice of Beacon Hill, Soho, or Adams Morgan right around the corner. I left with everything I was hoping for and more: fabulous hair plus expert tips and friendly conversation. I felt very welcomed!On my next visit I got a balayage with Emily and it turned out so well I made her take a pic of me so I could post on social media (strangers complimented me on it as well). Again, I learned a lot about how best to take care of my hair, from how often to wash and rinse to the right way to use dry shampoo. The salon uses and sells Kevin Murphy products which are pricey (but well worth it) plus two other high-end but affordable lines.Needless to say, Emily is my favorite go-to colorist and stylist for life! She and Christina and the rest of the staff have made a huge impression, and really go above and beyond to offer an incredible, personalized experience. Case in point: I was curious about what Kevin Murphy products offer for heat protection, and got an email and voicemail the next day from Christina who provided me a list from the supplier. Now my sister is a client, and my husband just got me a gift certificate for me for Christmas, which naturally I can’t wait to use.

I NEVER write reviews, mostly because I forget BUT I cant forget this one!!!From the moment I walked in this sweet, funky gem of a salon I knew the vibe was just what I was looking for.First, just feeling comfortable is so important to me. I like to feel at home in the place Im going to be visiting a lot for a simple trim touch up to full on color, eyebrow threading and sometimes makeup.Christina, the owner is rocking it. She has created her business with her sweet, funny and kind personality. Not to mention her expertise, immense knowledge and confidence!I booked with Emily for my first session AND she rocked it!!! I was in a slump and really hadnt taken much time for myself but she not only cut and colored my hair with expertise, she made me feel like a new person. I have since been back for a shorter cut and Emily had already been thinking about what we might do.....she is so passionate and talented!!! I trust her so much Im like, I dont know...what do you think we should do....its fun! Lifes too short!Christina threaded my eyebrows like it was second nature to her ( I always had them waxed but never again ) they were perfect.Last but not least, Sophie the sweetest dog princess lights up my day! I started going to this early summer time and I havent stopped going since. That for me speaks volumes because Im always about quality as well as price. The overall ambience of the salon is very relaxing almost spa like in a salon setting. All of the stylists are very nice and they all know there craft!!! The owner Christina Elfar is not only an amazing young stylist herself but an amazing entrepreneur as well!!! She really did an amazing job with the salon to give it that relaxed Zen like atmosphere with the whole set up of the place!!! Overall like I said that I like quality .The quality is not only in the cut but also the products they use and above all else is the quality of the people who work there. Ive seen on many occasions how much they all care about how their clients feel and that their clients are happy with the service that was provided to them!!! I also mentioned price after quality but the prices here are very reasonable for the services that they provide. I cant put a price though on the overall experienceand how I feel when I leave.

This is my absolute favorite salon. Ive gone to other salons but with Philosophe Hair the experience is so amazing! As soon as you enter the salon the environment is so welcoming! The decor is absolutely stunning its hip vintage mirrors and barber chairs are so charming. The employees in the salon are so friendly and respectful. Their personalities are so wonderful they all make you feel right at home. The best part is the haircut! I have never had such an amazing haircut; the time and technique they put into the cut itself is tremendous. I highly recommend this salon to anyone!

I also got a lob haircut with her and it looked amazing!I’ve gotten balayage done with Danica, and I’m obsessed. I first got it last summer and I just got it done again and the color is perfect!!So much talent, I highly recommend Philosophe!!

After having the best haircut I have had in years.... I have continued to go back to Philosophe because I love the results. Immediately when you walk you are offered a latte or Prosecco and then you get to see your hair transformed. I haven’t even been able to get the color or cut that I have and love now anywhere else. The atmosphere is very cozy and the hairdressers make you feel like you’re at home.2 weeks ago I went to another hair salon that charged me for $70 for a haircut that I didn’t want, so I came here to get it fixed.Rebecca not only fixed my hair to make it look the way I wanted it to, but she made it even better than what I envisioned.She, as well as all the other hairdressers, was super nice, chill, and friendly. She went the extra mile to glaze my hair so that the color looked more natural too and styled it to my liking. Haircut, glazing, and styling ALTOGETHER for my hair was $75 and it was well worth it.This is definitely my go-to salon now. Rebecca is amazing.

PHILOSOPHE is gem! A diamond in the ruff (pun intended) with a city vibe. Sophie is the salons mascot and she is so cute and greets you as soon as you walk in. The service is exceptional and the staff is very knowledgeable. They dont just make you feel and look great but they also explain to you the best way to maintain your hair and which products to use. From my personal experience PHILOSOPHE is all about the client and conusmer. They will do whatever it takes to make sure you are happy and confident in your new look.Highly recommend!

I had a different experience from all of the other clients writing their reviews. I originally made an appointment to get a blow dry one Saturday during the summer. The reviews I saw told me that I should definitely check this place out, especially since I was looking for a new salon/hairdresser. On the first visit everything was fabulous! I was treated like a queen. I came in for a blow dry and left the salon spending over $100 because the hairdresser suggested fitting in a toner and cut before doing my blow dry. Even though I was not expecting to pay this amount of money, I did not mind because again, I was treated like royalty. A few weeks went by and I needed another blow dry for an event I was attending that weekend. I made an appointment with the same hairdresser and it was confirmed. The night before my appointment, I get a call, from this hairdresser, telling me the person I have my appointment with does not take new clients. I explained that I am not a new client because I have been there before (at the first appt they had me register into their system). She kindly asked me if I could be seen by another stylist which I met last time. I figured it would be fine. When I arrived for my appointment, I was treated as less than human. No interaction and I felt like I did not belong. The stylist that was supposed to see me, was starting a new client. The original hairdresser, who took a client to her chair and by their conversation I could tell that this was a new client because she was telling her about herself and about the salon in general (the client also said they just moved to the area), told me that I will be seen by a 3rd stylist. I was never informed that this was a celebrity stylist. I was WAY over charged for just a blow dry without any notice about it. I was sooooo confused about the inconsistency. The clients coming in after me seemed as though they were regulars and all of the stylists acknowledged their presence and were offered coffee and water. Not that I am upset about not getting coffee, I just did not understand what happened. I left very upset, I did not even get a good blow dry for the money that I ended up paying. 2 stars only because the first time was so great. otherwise 1 star.

Emily is awesome at what she does. I was trying to go light after black hair and my sister tried helping me get there but it was a mess. I googled salons near me, found Philosophe and made an appt online for a consult. Best decision ever.. and yes, its a bit on the pricey side for my used tos and likes but its definitely worth it. I have an appt to go back for more magic to be done; I cannot wait 😊

I wanted to find a place where stylists listen to your needs, pay attention to details, and can make informed suggestions on what can and cannot work.I decided to schedule a men’s hair cut at philosphe, met with Danica - a sharp and attentive stylist - who trimmed, cut, and shaped a messy, curly mop into something newfangled and so much more manageable.Great atmosphere - the owner’s dog hangs out in the salon sporting a serious underbite (uber cute), cozy and modern interior, and the results I see make me believe staff at philosohe are not just skilled but enjoy the work they do.

I decided to make a huge change.Im a natural blonde and I wanted to be redhead...just because. So, I entrusted the ladies at Philosophe Hair to execute this task. They were amazing! From the consultation to the actual semipermanent treatment, they were engaged in every detail. Im so happy with my new look---blondes have fun, but they dont have more fun than redheads.They are my new salon, for as long as I live in Massachusetts. Worth the drive. Worth the time.
