Absolutely horrible and lazy customer service. I have never had to call a rental car company to let them know in advance that I wouldnt be in their establishment at the very minute the reservation commenced - the reservation was accepted and had no time of arrival contingencies. Apparently this location has a strict policy on repurposing reservations if you do not arrive to pickup at the exact time you made it for. I had to pry for information to try to find a solution as I needed a car and the two employees were practically silent and when one of them DID speak, it was to just point out the fact that they have no other cars in the entire establishment (and that they wouldnt have any until the following day). Overall, this was an awful experience made (somehow) even worse by a total disrespect for customer service or problem solving.

I rented a cat for a week. The car was not cleaned even though it had a sticker on it claiming that it was cleaned. The items were left from previous renter.Car had excessive rattling noise from passenger seat.

The staff was very helpful fast and met my needs the prices were reasonable and there was no problem when I needed an extension and I couldnt stress enough about how wonderful the employees were

This is one of my favorite Hertz locations. I rent cars just about every week, spending around $15,000 or more a year on car rentals. Ever since I found this Hertz location, whenever I fly into the Detroit area, I skip the airport Hertz and just head right over to this neighborhood Hertz location. They are extremely friendly, always give me an upgrade when they have the availability and the staff knows me as soon as I walk in the door. Had one issue with a SUV I rented, took it right to this location and they switched me into a new SUV right then in there without any hesitation. They provide the best customer service of any Hertz I have been to. Thank you to the team at this Hertz location!

Horrible customer service. Charged me for an exchange fee when the vehicle they gave me was not safe. Hung up on me on a Friday afternoon when attempting to extend my rental, then charged me ridiculous.... will never come here again. And oh by the way, it was a 4 week rental!!

My girlfriend had to get a car from them. The guy we thought that would be helpful ended up putting in extra coverage without telling us and she got charged over 400$. This clause was not gone over with us at all. Never ever use these people. They are shady and charge you when youre not supposed to be. I will never recommend this company or location to anyone. Terrible business practice to add extra things and not tell the customer.

I dont know if this location is the problem or Hertz itself, but they hold my 400.00 in my card, at the end of the rental period, we decide to paid with another payment method, but they never release the CC, so after this rental nobody can help us to release that money, so the CC was 400.00 off, please advise in case you decide do the same and check your CC balance in case you require made a trip and have money available. Be side the car blue Hyundai stink cigarette and complete dirty (semi wash).

I rented a car from this location the middle of this month. I was visiting Michigan from out of state and needed a car for a couple days. There were no cars available...at any car rental companies. They allowed you to apply for a rental online, and then when it was time to get it, they had none available.I received a call the morning that I needed a car from Jamar, Manager at this Hertz, and was told they were expecting to get some cars transferred from OH in a couple hours and he would call me to let me know if they got them in, He did call back and also, picked me up because I didnt have a ride there and he said if it was within a 15 mile radius, he could pick me up...and he did and was very prompt. He was very courteous and I was very pleased with the service and the car.It was very strange that no rentals were available from any car rental places......none! Not even at the airport. So I am thankful that I was able to get a car from this Hertz.

This location is marked to pick up/drop off customers within a 15 min distance (which I am) but they told me they don’t support that feature when I arrived in person.Also, not their fault, but they are incredibly overwhelmed with phone calls. I tried calling first but they let my call drop. So when I went in-person, they had at least 5 new phone calls put on-hold.If you do use this location, have someone drop you off/pick you up in person. Customers in-person have higher priority than phone customers.

I rented a Full sized car, this time this time I got a Toyota. I prefer to drive American. However, we made tomout destination and back without incidents. Thank God! Shouts out to William who is always so professional.

Brought a car back with a half tank of gas and they charged me $78.00. Yes I should have read the paperwork but to not give people a heads up and then charge 10 dollars a gallon for each gallon short is ridiculous. No wonder why this place has a bad rating.

The young man was extremely help and has an A+ personality. He was able to stand up under the pressure of overcrowing and short tempered customers.

Well first of all, my wife and I were therefor over a half-hour. As we were about to call to be picked up, the gentleman asked if we were calling Hertz. We said yes and informed us that a couple just left after waiting over an hour to he picked up. Upon arriving we ran into that couple.... still waiting for their car. Next time I will call Enterprise, and see if they really pick you up

Someone at this location, stole my credit card information. I just got off the phone with the bank. The person at this location that I was dealing with (incredibly unprofessional might I add) is Nicoseus (sp). This is the last straw... I called to make my rental reservation (my insurance company was to reimburse me due to an error on their part). Hertz (Nicoseus) asked for me to call back a day before and the day of to confirm the pick up from the collision shop. Odd, but I did that. The day of, they told me they were on the way... 20 minutes later I called and then was told by this Nicoseius that the car I was being picked up in was just being sent for an oil change. What! What was the purpose of me making all of those calls? They still were almost 45 minutes late to pick me up from the collision shop. The people at the shop could not even believe it. Then, they sent an Uber without saying anything to me about it. When I arrived there were four guys sitting at the table doing absolutely nothing. I told them I was there to pick up a rental car. They said nothing and looked at me like I was insane. Nicoseus approached the counter a few minutes later. It took another 20 minutes to do the paperwork, then Nicoseus took 10 minutes to inspect the car, and another 10 minutes to wash it. Finally, he told me I’d be getting into a Hyundai Sonata. Well, when we walked out, it was an Impala. I asked what happened to the other car and he said it needed an oil change. It was so bizarre. He said he’d call me when another car came in and we would swap it out. That never happened and I had the car for a week. I’d rather drive to the airport than to deal with this place. Now I’m dealing with hundreds of dollars in fraud claims a little over a week after I dropped the car off. It’s a business card and I never use it. I used it for this rental due to the insurance company reimbursement. I don’t think it’s a coincidence. Stay away. It’s a small dump with shady workers.

The service is horrible wouldnt swap out my car had full coverage insurance with them after a accident didnt care if I didnt have a way back home just horrible wouldnt go back if my life depended on it

Nice and helpful staff working here, I recommend to rent a car at Hertz. Just in case that you are a foreigner dont forget to bring your passport, drivers license (doesnt need to be international) and a credit card (debit card will be not accepted).

DONT RENT A CAR THERE. I had a horrible experience . My insurance company set up a rental while my car war in the shop. The car i rented was fine and worked great it was the service and the scam that got me. First dont buy the insurance they want to sell you your regular car insurance will cover everything they tell you their insurance will. Then when I returned the car I filled the tank up and they checked it and told me they were charging me for gas because the needs on the gas gage was not all the way full..... then they told me it was going to be $9.99 per gallon for 2 gallons of gas that somehow they figured i owned them. How do you fill a gas tank at a gas station where the pump stops and you squeeze a little more in till it runs out of the car then drive a few blocks and now you owe the rental company 2 more gallons of gas. Its just not customer friendly... full is full close enough its not like it was a half a tank. Then the service manager in training told me i couldnt run up to the gas station after i gave her the keys so i would have to pay nearly $20 for less than 2 gallons of gas untop of the rental cost my insurance company didnt cover.

The interior was clean and well-maintained and I was given quick and friendly service.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE WITH HERTZ. I cant understand why Michigan ave. Dearborn was closed, They provided stellar service. I was on way to location at 12 noon to find out there was no vehicles available. I did not even get a courtesy call. I had to pay someone to drop me off at airport. Airport do not do pick-up and drop off for customers like local editions locations. I do understand that but it was an big inconvenience.

Rented a car August 16 and returned September 10. State Farm paid for the rental. Thanks State Farm. State Farm also told me not to sign up for insurance or any extra charges. Again, tnx. I returned full of fuel. Now, a full 2 weeks later, they bill me $42 for fuel. Liars and thieves!!!!! It also took an hour and a half to rent because the idiot did not know what he was doing and was too shy to ask his boss. Shame on her for not noticing that he was just sitting there with me doing nothing while she rented car after car after car.

Initially, I was skeptical renting a car here reading all the reviews, however they seem to be professional and got what I paid for. Just book your reservation online to avoid all the insurance scams they put out.

I called, they said they had vehicles. When I got there they didnt have any. For a company that solely rents vehicles, they dont seem to have this business figured out. Maybe someone will buy them out and do what they couldnt.

I would give 0 stars if I could. DO NOT rent from this location! I have not rented from Hertz in several years, and likely never will again, nor will I ever set foot on this specific Hertz location. I rented a vehicle as a replacement for my car that was in the shop. Although I understand I picked it up on a Saturday, there were literally only 3 cars to choose from, and not even in the best condition. There were several loopholes and differences in billing practices (than a normal leisure rental) that were NOT explained to me by an employee (somewhat rude) at this location, which resulted in my final charges being higher than expected, as my insurance was to cover a majority of the rental (but then I ended up paying more). When I spoke with the branch manager, it turned into you should have know that, we do not explain everything to our customers basically. Nice way to represent the customer is always right philosophy. NEVER again!!

Dont buy the insurance they offer a ripoff state farm covers it if you get in a accident unless you hit somebody with a rent a car I only had it for 3 days and got charged 168.00 never again will I take there insurance go to another location very rude people there they lost my business I will never go back there again

Always awful...rented here multiple times since Michigan Ave location closed. Ill list but a few concerns to be aware of: always running late, manager rarely onsite, manager NOT at all schooled in customer service, ties with blebs in them, must wait for cars to be cleaned and maintainanced sometimes needing oil changes-wait can be 40-60 minutes. Im headed to Woodhaven next time which unfortunately doesnt open til 8 but you cant get a car at 7 or 7:15 from Kean St anyways. Jermaine Armstrong is the branch manager and reports to no one so you can expect service to be far below par. 😖
