While they were quick and easy to work with on getting my car to the shop, I was very frustrated with the overall service of my car. They replaced one part for me, but I needed another part they didnt know about until afterwards. Twice Ive made an appointment with them, verified the appointment, and showed up to the shop to find they were closed without warning. No one calls to tell you they cant make your appointment. Ive never experienced such bad service. I was never apologized to for those instances and they were confused when I called to inform them I will no longer be using their business. Avoid them if possible, especially if you want a complete diagnostic on your car.
We were travelling on I-68 and desperate for help with brake issues on our truck. So glad Roys came up top of list in search as we got connected to a responsive, professional, competent and caring business. We were so fortunate they were able to provide service the next day and very capable and prompt - way more than we could have expected with no notice. They also fully guarantee their work and took the time to explain all details and the quality of the replacement parts.
Very friendly. Brakes were growling on F250 so we brought it in on short notice. They were able to fix the same day and a reasonable price. They were very thorough with a few no pressure recommendations. Very nice place to get a repair.
Will go here for any services that I need on my vehicles from now on! They got my car in quickly and fixed it the same day. They were professional and so caring. They wanted not only me but my children to have safe transportation. I was delaying getting my car fixed due to cost but they completed the job and I wasnt charged an arm and a leg. Thank you Roys Auto Service for everything!
I had car trouble while passing through town, and this shop did an amazing job helping me out and getting me back on the road!
I went in to get my break pads fixed and they never gave me an estimate, so I went home and a lady called me and told me it would be $836 for all four of my break pads to be replaced and I needed new rotor’s, I had agreed to it because I’m 18 and don’t know much about cars and I had contacted my father who knows much about cars and told me that’s outrageous so I called back immediately and told them to not do it. The lady had told me someone had started to fix the front tire and I asked how much it would be she told me it would be $236 or $263 for just the front breaks !!!! So I declined it and just said don’t fix anything on it so I hung up and she had called me informing me that I’d be paying $85 for a diagnostic fee which I was very confused on why that would be $85. Because my mom had went to auto zone the day before and they did it for free but I just didn’t think any thing of it because I don’t know anything about cars and that stuff. Anyways she had hung up called me back for the second time and told me it would be $125 instead of $85 which is insane!! I ended up paying it because I’m not the type of person to ask questions, they where trying to scam me because I’m more vulnerable, I do not recommend this place whatsoever !!! they’re scamming people with insanely high prices I had gotten quotes from multiple places stating it would be $300-400 but I had chose them because I needed it done ASAP and they got me in the next day, so yeah I do not recommend this place they’re scam artists !!!!
Great work, good price point, quick turnaround and friendly service. Cant really ask for more from a mechanic! Highly recommend.
I was referred to Roys for my cars body work by a rep at a dealership. The best service they ever gave me was Roys address! The work performed on my car was excellent.I have since returned to Roys for regular maintenance. Roys is now my go-to for auto care!I appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness demonstrated by both Roy and Shannon and all their staff. So glad I found you!
I have never been more excited to have a mechanic tell me what was wrong with my vehicle. Roy found the problem that we had been trying to figure out for months. Literally.... months. He also diagnosed another problem that we werent aware of. Everyone was super friendly and easy to talk to and joke around with as well. Roy told me that the problem with my vehicle was circled.... whatever that means. 😁 Either way, I found a new mechanic, and one that I feel good about going to. I will definitely use Roys Auto Service for any future repairs or maintenance.
They did a great job on my sister-in-law s jeep.
My son and I broke down in the summer 2018 and it was after hours. We dropped the car at Roy’s and they worked on it the following day. Their service and communication is excellent. They really helped us in a pinch!! This place is fantastic and I will definitely use them and trust them again for my car needs when in the area!! Super nice and easy to work with! Customer Service is top notch!!
Was ripped off by Roy’s auto. They tried to put us in a hotel for the night even though they had the parts to fix the immediate issue. We were 400 miles from home and had no other choice. They told us we needed to replace all 4 coils when only a couple went out. We knew the others needed to be replaced but we just needed to make it home that night. The mechanic said it was only a 15 minute job but the owner said it would take around an hour (presumably to get more labor cost out of us). The ceiling is missing many tiles and the overall feel of the place was sketchy. When they take your car back, the windows are blacked out so you cannot see what is being done or how long they are actually working on your car. The owner that greeted us was only nice when she was taking our credit card. Overall the visit was a stressful mess.
My dad and I were traveling through Cumberland on our way to Arkansas. They fit us in on a Saturday morning last minute. Fair prices, honest people. The problem was fixed and we were able to get back on the road shortly after stopping. Very good customer service! Everyone was very kind and helpful! Thank you so much, Shannon and Roy!!
These guys are life savers. My car broke down in the middle of nowhere in Maryland I luckily found this mechanic shop on Google, they had pretty good reviews so I took the chance and had my car towed for 30 miles to get to their shop. It was Saturday around 12:00p.m. When we finally made it there, their shop was scheduled to close at 2:00 and not be open Sunday. They stayed open later than scheduled on Saturday and then worked on Sunday just to make sure we got back on the road safe and sound. These people took us in, I had a dog with me they let us hang out in the shop for a while as they figured out the problem. Roys wife called a hotel for me and booked me a room where I could have my dog. They gave us a ride to the hotel from the shop which was just so kind. They gave me an amazing price to get everything fixed. These guys do amazing work on cars are genuinely some of the kindest people I have ever met. Thanks everybody at Roys shop we appreciate everything you have done for us.
Needed brakes and rotors badly! Roys Auto Service was EXCELLENT! Understood my situation, easily worked with me for a very good price, and did a wonderful job on my brakes and rotors for an outstanding price! Ms. Shannon and Mr. Roy gave me piece of mind knowing I had very safe brakes and rotors, especially traveling I-68 in Maryland going up and coming down those brutal mountains at interstate speeds. Thank you so much Roys Auto Service!
Roy and Shannon are honest and amazing people. My girlfriend is from it of town and broke down in Cumberland. I was over a hundred miles away. Roys didnt have the part she needed, but they went out to get it and put her at the head of the line. Not only that, but they charged her $150 less than 2 places I called near me. I was on my way to pick her up with the full expectation of having to leave the vehicle and come back another 100+ miles in a day. Much to my very happy surprise the car was completely repaired as I was pulling in. I cannot say enough good things. Shannon even offered to help us with looking up any warranty issues should they come up, knowing we were not from the area. I would highly recommend giving them a chance at your business, they were more than fair and honest to us.
This automotive repair shop is a great place of business they really know their stuff when it comes to automotive repair. They was very professional to work with and have a great atmosphere. Along with outstanding customer service they answer all questions with out making you feel dumb like most shops do. Also after they repaired my car it ran better than ever before it barely wanted to run at all everything was out of wack. I got a very fair reasonable price actually lower than other shops quoted me. Now I no longer dread getting my car repaired I actually am relieved I now have a place to go. I will be recommending this shop to all my friends, family and even strangers!!! Thank you Roys Auto Service!!! I almost forgot to add after my car was fixed, picked up and paid for and I even got a courtesy call asking if my car was still running great and if I was satisfied with my service. Wow what business does that anymore really cares for their customers and goes out above and beyond for their customer anymore, well this business does.
I was traveling for work when my engine temperature light came on. My car was overheated. I ended up getting it towed to Roy’s. Shannon was very sweet and provided excellent customer service. She called the nearest hotel (Ramada Inn) and reserved a room for me and my boyfriend as well as told us some places I could eat dinner. Unfortunately, they were unable to get the part I needed, but were able to get the part the next day. Shannon called me early the next day and told me that they ordered the part and it will be in at 1. Because of the part getting in so late, she took it upon herself to call the hotel and ask for a late check out for us. She was able to get check out moved from 11am to 2pm. Excellent customer service from Roy’s :)
I was in Cumberland for 24 hours for my job (I travel a lot), and my battery light came on just before I got into town. I knew it wasnt my battery, because that was less than a year old, so it must be the alternator. I wasnt able to get the car to Roys in the morning because I absolutely had to be present for my job, so I didnt get my car to his shop until about 1:30 in the afternoon.I really put Roy on the spot, but he didnt even flinch and was able to get the part delivered within 20 minutes and had my car fixed and back on the road within 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thats about twice as fast as I expected it to take. He knew I was from out of town, he could have fleeced me if he wanted to, but the price was completely fair, even on the cheap side! Also, his staff was very friendly, including his wife and (I assume) his son, who was hanging out in the waiting room. The kid kept me company while I waited :)A great overall experience and they really saved my bacon. Many thanks!
Best automotive repair Ive ever had!!! I was mid 8 hour trip and this hard working American business owner saved my ass. A Full service shop. They even provided a quick lift when I was awaiting my repair. The lovely lady on the phone answswerd with swift customer service and care for my unusual situation. 5 stars in every category!!!!
On a road trip to Ohio I experienced car problems and stopped at Roys for help. He was quickly able to identify the issue and was able to order parts and fix my car over the weekend. He contacted a local car rental company as well since I would have to leave my car there over the weekend. He also gave me his cell phone number to call when I was on my way back and would be near the stop since he would meet me there to get my car on his day off. Its good to know there are still good people around like Roy!
Our 2010 Jeep Wrangler is our baby. Im not kidding, we get it gifts on its birthday, but what Im saying is - we dont just let anyone work on it. We needed brakes in the front and rear and we lost a part in our 4WD gear transfer box, so I called around in Cumberland MD to places large and small. When I spoke to the folks at Roys they were professional and courteous, and were willing to give me a ballpark estimate on the brakes because we might just need pads, but we might also need rotors. Uh-huh, yeah sure. I called over to my wife and said Honey, Chuck (our jeep - see above) is gonna need brakes and rotors....So we took him in and went off to lunch and waited for the call. They called back sooner than they said they would and sure enough we needed brakes AND rotors. Before I could even take on a knowing sarcastic tone in response they added...But just on the back, the front brakes are fine. Now, I dont know if you have an iphone, an android or a disposable phone because you know the government wink-wink, but these days they are all more expensive than ever. Well I picked mine back up after dropping it, and my wife conveniently tucked my lower jaw back up my mouth so I could tell them to go ahead with the work. Now the transfer box on a Wrangler is what I call a gotcha part, in other words, its a 3 dollar plastic bushing holding a 300 dollar cable assembly together, and naturally, you cant just get the bushing. Well our bushing broke, and Roys was willing to fix it OR, they offered, Roy will make a metal sleeve that will not only fix it, but for good.We went back to get our baby, I mean, Jeep and the work was reasonable, on time and they told us if the transfer box issue ever reappeared, we could bring it back and theyd take care of it.I write professionally, and my stories aint cheap. Roys in Cumberland MD was such a great experience that I figured Id give them (and you) a story worth sharing. Give them a shot, you wont be disappointed.
On Labor day my car broke down on our way to a resort in West Virginia. We were referred to Roys by our tow truck driver and left the car and keys there that day. The next business day Roys immediately inspected our car and communicated the issue to me, which turned out to be needing a new engine in our Mazda. It was a very challenging set-up because I did not have cell service at our resort 2 hours away, but all week Shannon did an excellent job of keeping in touch and working with us on the details of our repair and invoice. She even went the extra mile with paperwork based on our extenuating timeline. I would refer Roys for any automotive needs. They understand and execute customer service at an extremely high level!
Engine broke down on a Saturday on the side of the highway. Thank god Roys is open on weekends. They were awesome in finding a reliable quick tow company, and reliable engine and performed an awesome installation job.Its always a rough experience to get an engine replaced, however Roys friendly team and adorable dog Penelope made the experience as positive as possible.
I stopped in without an appointment on my way across the country as my car had started making noise. Roy and his wife got me in right away, quickly fixed what was wrong and showed me amazing hospitality. 10/10 would visit them again, quality of work and care for customers is #1 at Roys.
Passed through Cumberland on a long road trip. Roy gave me a great price on new brakes and did the work very quickly. Everyone was very friendly.Worth the visit just to see Penelope even if your car is running fine.
Awesome service guarnteed to get the job done staff is more than awesome i would tell anyone and everyone to take there vehicles to roy and no questions asked your ride will be fixed and working properly when you get it back overall awesome garage just wish it was closer to home id ask for a job
On our way from Virginia to Ohio, and the car broke down in Cumberland, MD on a Sunday afternoon. Roy is apparently the only mechanic in the area who answers his phone on Sunday, and he immediately drove out to us and quickly identified the problem (broken alternator bracket). He had our car towed back to his shop, ordered the necessary parts which took a few days to arrive because the assembly in question had been discontinued and had to be ordered from an out-of-state supplier (true story; in the interest of due diligence, I contacted the local Dodge dealer to confirm what we had been told), and he had us fixed and ready to go within a week. I cant say it was cheap because of the nature of the repair (he essentially had to rebuild the engine to replace the part in question), but the price was fair and reasonable. Bonus: Our van runs better than it ever has! He could have so easily taken advantage of us seeing how we were from out of town and in a desperate situation, but he didnt. Roy and Shannon are pleasant, personable, and professional, so if youre ever in need of car repairs in Cumberland, give Roy a call.
On a long distance trip to go camping, my battery warning light was illuminated. The destination was in a remote area and during early morning cold weather, I had to be sure that my battery or alternator were in perfect order.Roy diagnosed that I needed a new battery.(The Altenator was OK ).Shanon ordered a new hi crank battery from the regional distributor in Cumberland. The battery was delivered in 12 minutes and promptly installed.Super service from Shanon, Roy and Bill
We had an axle lock up and Roy had us fixed and ready to go in less time than expected. They even drove to pick us up to get us back to our car. Cost was reasonable and you just dont find service like this everywhere. We would give more stars if we could!
Roy and Shannon and Bill are the epitome of Auto Repair. They pride themselves with old fashioned, excellent customer service. They are also very knowledgeable when it comes to repairs. They are the best place in the Cumberland area for all of you auto repair needs.
Great people who know what to do! Our AC went out on a road trip out east and Ray saved our vacation! They were flexible, helpful and friendly. Good people, good place!
Great service I was in town for the week and they fixed our work truck on the same day I took it in highly recommended if you need work done to you car or truck
During a long road trip, our car broke down in Cumberland, MD. Roy came to our hotel, assessed the problem quickly and accurately, ordered the parts and quickly got us back up and on the road. He did this all with transparency, kindness and professionalism. His work was excellent, he finished early and the bill was reasonable and as quoted.
Roy goes out of his way to make you the best deal he can to fix your vehicle .He is truly a great mechanic
This Guy did great work and was cheaper than anyone else I called after totally redoing the top end of my motor on my Honda CRV I drove it 3300 miles in the 2 weeks following picking up my car to Florida and back. I used to be a mechanic and owned my own shop and I would highly recommend this garage for any mechanical need on any type of car or truck!
Two members of our family experienced serious car problems trying to make it from DC into the mountains for vacation. Roy diagnosed the problem one morning, had the part from the dealer by the next morning, and had the car fixed by mid-afternoon. This was an expensive job, but all was done fairly and competently--as well as graciously!
Shannon and Roy were an absolute pleasure to work with!I was moving to Milwaukee and broke down in Cumberland, MD on Sunday AND July 4th weekend. They were still able to fit me in right away (I had to spend the night because they didnt have a part, but they did everything in their power to get me back on the road as soon as possible.)When Roy got into my car and noticed that it wasnt as bad as he originally thought and quoted me at, he immediately came out and told me the good news! He ended up saving me a few hundred dollars rather than taking advantage of me!Shannon and Roy treated me the like family the entire time. Even fed me cup cakes and coffee. LolThey truly made a very difficult time much much easier on me and for that Im ever thankful! If you brake down in Cumberland CALL THEM! I promise you theyll take great care of you!!!
This little family-run shop is something youd expect to find in Maybury of the old Andy Griffin Show fame. They were friendly, reasonably priced, seemed to take pride in their work, and went to extremes for customer satisfaction. Our minivan began sputtering about 20 miles from Cumberland and in a frantic online search we found Roys shop. With only minutes to go before the shop closed on a Friday night we called and they offered to stay until we arrived. They immediately diagnosed the problem and interrupted their planned workload to fix it over a holiday weekend for a reasonable price. They ended up having to fix it twice because the new part failed due to a manufacturing defect but they did it with no additional labor cost. They went out of their way to work around our schedule, staying late Friday and Saturday nights waiting for us and working on Sunday even though the shop was supposed to be closed. And despite what another reviewer claimed, no we arent family or friends of anyone in the shop. We highly recommend Roys for stranded travelers and nearby residents alike.
I was a woman traveling alone, and just barely limped into Cumberland on a Sunday night. Based on reviews, I gave Roys a call first thing Monday morning, and they were able to get me in right away. Roy was clear in communicating what the problem was and what my options were, he was fair in cost, and fast in service; he had me on the road before noon in a car that was happy again. Where we live, we have a mechanic who we rely on, trust, and value; if we lived in Cumberland, that would be Roy.
They went out of their way to run down the parts we needed. Really helpful. These guys did a good job to get us back on the road.
Roy was a life saver. Car broke down at 5pm on a Friday night during a cross county road trip. He had it fixed and we were back on the road by 2pm the next day. After Roy fixed the problem, I realized quickly that this is the same issue that we had been trying to get the Honda dealer to fix for over a year. Thank god it broke down completely when it did, so Roy could fix it. If you live in the Cumberland, MD area take it to Roy. His knowledge and ability to listen to the issue and then explain the fix can not be expressed enough. A true professional.
This amazing family owned business went above and beyond to help us. From rescuing us on the highway to finding us a place to stay while we waited and getting us back on the road to get back home in ny. They were kind, compassionate and understanding turning g a tuff situation into a great oppurtunity. There shop is right around the corner from a nice hotel and historic area with plenty of shops and eaterys to keep busy. In addition to quickly getting our van fixed they have beautiful collection of hand crafted furniture any car lover would appreciate taking old parts ND transforming them into unique fun pieces good for any budiness, home, or establishment.
Had air conditioning problem with two of my vehicles .work now like they did when there were new. I have a 2004 Ford 150 with a few problems because of age. Roy found them and fixed them with no problem. He treated my vehicles like they were his ownTRY ROYS I BET YOU WILL YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. AND IF YOU ARE HE WILL MAKE IT RIGHT Jim and Debbie
Got to cumberland and my alternator broke. Made it to one place but they would not be able to see me for 4 days. Roys was the next one down so I called them and they said they had the part AND could fix it the same day. Really nice folks there.
Engine swap took way too long but problems on the suppler end not shop.Looks like quality instalation so far we see if it makes iback to Missouri.Only complaint I have is coolant reservoir left empty and greasy.fingerprints all over vehicle which is a big no-no in the car biz ;)
My 75 year old Father took his truck to this shop and was told it needed a new motor. He was also told he had to pay the over $3000.00 before they would order the motor. He gave them the money and the checks were cashed. My Dad and I have both went to this shop several times when we were told the truck would be ready but it was never ready. It has now been 11 months and my elderly Father still does not have his truck. I rode by this shop the other day and the truck is still there with no motor in it. Needless to say we have had to retain a lawyer to get the truck and money back. I hate that I even have to give one star on this review. I dont understand how this business could do this to a 75year old man who had just lost his wife of 50 years a month earlier. I would never recommended this business to anyone.UPDATE . ON OCTOBER 22ND WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF THE CUMBERLAND POLICE DEPT WE FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET MY DADS TRUCK BACK. UNFORTUNATELY, MY DAD HAD PASSED AWAY ONE WEEK BEFORE. THE POLICE INFORMED ME THEY HAD MANY ISSUES WITH THIS BUSINESS AND SUGGESTED I FILE COMPLAINTS WITH THE BBB AND ATTORNEY GENERAL WHICH I AM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING AND WORKING WITH OTHER AGENCIES TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESNT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. I ALSO STILL HAVE AN OPEN LAWSUIT AGAINT THEM. WHEN WE PICKED UP THIS TRUCK THIS BUSINESS HAD ABSOLUTELY NO REMORSE FOR WHAT THEY HAD DONE OR THAT MY FATHER HAD PASSED. ALL THEY CARED ABOUT WAS MAKING SURE THEY WERE PAID FOR THE LABOR COSTS. I CAN NOT BELIEVE A PLACE LIKE THIS IS STILL IN BUSINESS.****This business is nothing but dishonest and crooked. The fact that you think there is any justification in keeping an elderly mans truck for nearly a year shows alot. Dont you say anything about my Father after what you did to him. The stress you put on this 75 year old man right up until the day he died is disgusting. You absolutely need put out of business so you can never do this to someone else.
Incredible people that stayed late on a holiday weekend to help a stranger. Really knowelable and kind owners!! So thankful for them!!! Saved us and got us back on the road!!!
They stayed late to squeeze me in on a friday. I needed my truck to do a job in DC the next day. Good people, good work, good price. Thanks Roy.
They did a good job on my Jeep. I recommend this place because Roy makes sure your vehicle has got the right parts it needs.
I had a wonderful experience with Roys Auto! They were very professional and friendly. They were very helpful to me while I was going through a hard time they helped me out trumendusly!!! Thanks so much Roy and Shannon.
Ive read through the reviews and Ill say this. Im not a family member, paid rep., etc. My 2001 Carolla went down due to a problem from another corporation around 2:30 am. I got my car towed to Roys and by the early morning they were calling me to get the ball moving on getting my car fixed. Roy and his very nice coworker (was a lady never caught her name) fought the corporation for me and continuously called them to get my car fixed, no extra fees, no run arounds & no bs; great work & great people. Its refreshing to know there are still good hearted mechanics out here. Two thumbs up for sure. Thanks guys and I will tell anyone in your area to use you guys for sure!
Roy is an absolute scam artist. His business should not be allowed to continue to exist. He operates with no morals or ethics. The man is an absolute liar and is not to be trusted!DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY. And do not believe the fake positive reviews that come from family of the owner!
GREAT JOB GUYS!!!! I WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP ON MY OLD VETTE WHEN I GAVE YOU A CHANCE WELL LET ME TELL YOU THIS THING IS RUNNING BETTER THAN EVER SO THANK YOU AND WILL DO BUSINESS AGAIN.
Not in any way reputable, they are court ordered to pay me $4200 to me due to ripping me off and of course they refuse to pay me or the court. I have spoken with at least 7 other customers who Roys has ripped off. They are untrustworthy, unprofessional, unscrupulous and you should NEVER let them touch your vehicle.
My truck was overheating driving across country. I called Roy at 3pm on a Saturday and even though he had closed at 2pm, he stuck around until I got there at 3:30 to look over my truck. He diagnosed it and figured out it was only a bad temp gauge. Cant say enough good things about Roy, great experience.
Friendly staff. Stopped for an oil changed with no appointment and didnt wait very long
A+ Excellence work plus great pricing for repairs
Freindly mechanics
Best shop ever
Stay away!
