I brought 2 dogs, a Belgian Malinois and a Lab Mix (one was playful and easy, the other nervous and little more difficult) in for boarding for the day on Aug 30, 2021 and I was astounded by the high level of care these employees gave my dogs. My dogs are extremely important to me and I felt like I left them with the best care that day. The front desk personnel were very professional and kind. The handler came out and talked with me about my dogs, took extra time & were super understanding. It really felt like everyone there was passionate about animal care and I honestly appreciated it so much. Will recommend to everyone I know!
Front desk staff is awesome 🤩Special shout out to Mallorie Barenie, DVMYour customer service is the best
We have been taking our 2 dogs to coyne since moving here to Crown Point and I have to say, we couldn’t be happier! We have seen a few different vets for regular check-ups, but have spent a lot of time with Dr Waleski when our senior dog suffered a slipped disc in her neck, causing temporary paralysis. We came in with Toots in our arms, terrified that this was the end for her. The entire staff was so kind and compassionate while we waited for X-rays and to see what our options were. Dr Waleski was so so kind and took so much time with us figuring out a treatment plan which ultimately, gave toots her full mobility back! I know there were other patients waiting to be seen, but she made us feel like our crisis was TOP PRIORITY.. I assume it’s safe to say that she gives this treatment to every single family that comes in! Thank you so so much to everyone who works at Coyne.. we appreciate all the hard work you do, especially given the pressure you are often under. You are the best!
Customer service was great, veterinarian was very informative and can tell she has a passion with animals. My dog is very anxious when it comes to new people but she was very comfortable with the and safe, it did not made me anxious as well. Would highly recommend to anyone who is having trouble with their pet’s health.
Always friendly service! The techs are always very sweet with our dog. The doctors are awesome! We have never felt uncomfortable or like we were just a number to them. Our dog loves going to daycare and we love that we can see all the fun he is having on SnapChat!
I normally don’t write bad reviews, but when it comes to caring for a pet, I know others should be aware. We normally board our dog at a different facility, but unfortunately that facility was booked, so we had to go with Coyne. We took our dog in for the social evaluation a few days before she was going to be boarded and they reported to us that she was timid but she was fine overall. (She was there for at least 6-8 hours that day) Therefore, we felt comfortable enough to leave her for boarding. We paid for the luxury suite which included four hours of daycare time, watching TV, a bath, etc. On the second day of our vacation, I called to check in on my dog. Come to find out, she had not been receiving the daycare time because she was “too scared” to join the other dogs. They reported that they would try to put her with a smaller group of dogs that day, but when I called back the next day, I found out that they did not try again. I asked them to try her out again the next day with a smaller group of dogs, but apparently she was too scared again. Number one, why was I not notified about this the first day? I would have called someone to go pick her up. I did not pay for my dog to sit in the kennel for days straight. Secondly, I don’t understand how she was so scared, but a few days earlier when we dropped her off for daycare, she passed the social evaluation and she was fine overall? She also never had an issue at her other daycare where she was boarded previously. We ended up leaving our trip early to go pick her up. Also, she did not receive the bath that she was supposed to get.I just don’t feel that they did enough to make my dog feel safe and comfortable there. Again, we did not want her to be in a kennel for days straight. Our dog has a lot of energy and requires a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. This experience can cause anxiety and stress.Side note: Some of the front staff there is rude and not willing to help. When you walk in the front door, even if there’s no other customers, they will ignore you until it is convenient for them to stop what they are doing.
Do not trust any location to even trim dog nails as they must employ amateurs! My dog was bleeding and was walking as if walking on glass for how hurt he was! This is DISGUSTING, avoid at all cost regardless lies on reviews.
They take forever, if you bring your animal in for an appointment, expect to sit in an examination room for an hour or two before you even speak to a doctor. The doctors are totally hit or miss and youll play doctor roulette every time you go there. You will never see the same doctor and the ones you talk to will likely not have any idea of what you discussed with the other doctors, to bring every single one of them up to date every time you go in. From my experience, half the doctors will be engaged abs care, while the other half are thinking about what theyre going to fyi when they get out of there later that evening I gave it two stars because the front counter people are nice and the place is clean. Will not be going back however.
First off, any time I call I’m on hold for at least 10mins. The first time I dropped of my dog for vaccines, they told me it would take about 2hrs. They claim to be a walk in clinic, but be prepared to spend your entire morning there. I paid for the vaccines because my husband would be picking up my dog, when he picked him up they claimed he owed money, when I had already paid for everything. After the girl told him he owed, she walked away from him and he waited another 10 mins and finally just left after being ignored. Nothing ever seems organized here. I was supposed to get a “report card” after his boarding and daycare and I didn’t. Last week I had my dog boarded over night. I dropped off my normal happy, eating dog. We also PREPAID due to someone else picking him up. When they arrived to pick him up, they claimed he had to pay another $60. They trimmed his nails without asking and charged me $20. I never asked for authorized for the nails to be trimmed. I take him to a different groomer for a reason. My dog now has a cough that he didn’t not have before going in, has extremely shallow breathing, and will not eat. Not only is this company unprofessional with the 20yr olds running the front, I’ve been charged for things I didn’t ask for nor agreed to, but I now have an ill dog from boarding there and will have a vet bill ( not going to be going to this location) Never returning and will make sure to let people know how I feel on Coyne Vet.Edit for response. You never should have charged me with out asking!! I’m livid. I didn’t not agree to any additional charges. This company is a scam and I’ll be sure to let everyone know they steal. You actually think I’d bring him back for you to charge me for more in necessary services? This place is a joke. I’ll return to our old vet and boarding place.
My dog requires insulin shots. As i am unemployed i always try to order it from an online pharmacy as it is cheaper. They contact Coyne and it takes several days and a call from me to get Coyne to approve it. This last one was 3 full days. Unfortunately that pushed us into the holiday weekend. To top it off, Fed Ex has experienced a delay in getting me the prescription. I went to Coyne at noon today and explained the shipment was lost and asked them to please send a prescription todsy to Costco as I was going to be out. At 3 pm Costco didnt have it. I called Coyne and again explained and asked please to send it today. She said she would text or call me the minute it was approved. They never did. Now I am sitting here with no insulin for my dog. I dont understand why they wont just give me a prescription for several refills. Every month it is the same issue.
It is difficult for me to even give one star to this veterinary hospital. I boarded my two dogs this past March. There were several issues but I will start with the biggest. My golden has extreme food allergies. We brought all of his food with specific directions on how to feed him. He eats twice a day. (This was all approved ahead of time.) When we picked him up, they brought out half of the food untouched. When we asked what happened and they said that they must have messed up, but dont worry, he ate twice a day. We gave him our food. HE SHOULDNT EAT THAT FOOD! They were supposed to follow up with our vet about what shots they needed. (They offered to do this and then had not done it as of three days prior and we had to give our dogs shots at THEIR facility upon arrival. They then said that they performed a social evaluation and when we called to check on them, they said that they didnt pass (our golden is all but a stuffed animal) and they would evaluate again. They passed the next day, but it all seemed very unusual and suspect. We picked them up a day early (we arranged this the day before) and requested a credit for the final day. They didnt know how to do this and finally (after a half hour of waiting) said they would do that the next day. They never did. They did, however, call to tell us that they think they undercharged us $200. After hearing how this went for us, they said they would waive the $200 which was their own billing mistake. After admitting to their mistakes in our dogs care, they asked what they could do to get our business in the future. There was no offer of financial restitution and absolutely no concern over our dog who was completely misfed the entire week.
We had to bring in our 13 year old Black Lab Max when I got there they rushed him right into the back for treatment. Everyone was so helpful they make you feel like family. The doctor was straight forward when I asked her opinion. Max was pretty ill so she gave us her honest opinion and that helped ease our minds. Needless to say Max is no longer in pain. RIP Max. I want to thank everyone at Coyne Veterinary Center for making this difficult and life changing decision a comforting decision. 🙏
Do not bring your pet here if you need to make it on time anywhere else. The average wait time to drop your pet dog or retrieve it is between 15 and 20 minutes and I have waited as long as 25. All of this while the waiting room fills up with people and pets and the two (or sometimes 3) attendants continue to answer phones and completely ignore the gathering crowd, let alone apologizing for any wait. I stopped bringing my dog here for this reason in early 2020 and gave them a try again last week. Nothing has changed. There are multiple reviews with the same commentary but nothing has been done to address it.EDIT - I would respectfully recommend that instead of using valuable resources to reply to low star reviews so you can state you addressed them you actually use your staffs valuable time to check customers in at peak hours. Efficient use of resources is not a novel concept.
I brought my senior Chihuahua there about a month ago due to heart failure and the receptionist Rayne was amazing . I was waiting in line (2 people in front of me ) and she quickly saw how distressed my pet was and quickly rushed her to the back for an evaluation. She was so kind and comforting. I went back again today for another pet and was able to thank her in person, her response was genuine and heartfelt. We saw Dr Bonoma today and she was extremely thorough and answered all my questions. Thank you for providing such a wonderful caring service .
This place is amazing! They are extremely compassionate. They care about your animal, & they are truthful! They don’t try to sell you on things you don’t need. I’m so happy a friend recommended me to come here!
Always friendly and patient with questions and concerns. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
The staff here genuinely cares about your pet! I brought my cat here and they treated her so well, and explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet.
The staff at Coyne are extremely professional and compassionate. My sweet little puppy absolutely loves going here. She is excited the minute we pull up every time! She trusts them, and I put trust in them because my sweet lil pup is so comfortable here. They are always welcoming and friendly. The staff takes time to explain procedures and health necessities. The facility is always nice and tidy. I recommend this location to all my friends and family.
I adopted a dog a few months ago and started talking my dog to this facility because on paper it seemed like an ideal place for my dog. For whatever reason I chose to ignore a lot of the red flags this place displayed because of their no appointment based model but wow this place will disappoint you at every turn possible. The first red flag was the first week I got my dog and took it there for a check-up. The vet checking him out told me to come pick him up but when I arrived the facility was closed (my dog had came there 3 hours before closing time). The woman who opened the door had a huge attitude and said FYI and for the future we are closed at this time. I said well the doctor told me to come to get my dog, and that seem to change her attitude. I decided to brush it off and continue to bring my dog there for day care and medical treatment. If you are going to get your pet treated there, just prepare to take off work because it will take a while for them to see your pet. Unless you go towards the end of the day-dont go in the morning, they will not see your dog any faster if you come first thing. My dog was badly injured by an unleashed dog in the morning, it took 3 hours for medical attention. Also you ill never see the same exact vet, and they never read prior notes. They tried to administer a blood panel test 3 times, which was nuts because they already conducted one....but because the doctors kept changing they just didnt realize one was on file.I took my dog there for boarding a few times and for whatever reason, he was always given loads of his food back (which tells me they were feeding him their food) and I was never given an explanation. They also would give your dog a bath if your dog stays more than two nights, but every time my dog did stay you can tell they gave him the bath the day I would pick him up. He was always wet when I came to get him. It just felt rushed. Ive never experienced this with any other groomer. Also dont expect them to tell you anything about your pet while its in their care.My last straw with this location came recently when it came to day care. My dog was a regular at day care until he wasnt because of medical issues. When he was able to attend day care, the kennel manager for whatever reason refused to put my dog in day care. They just literally had him sit in a kennel or day board all day. They didnt call, there isnt any noted issues with any dogs or staff. They just decided to keep doing it, after I spoke with multiple attendants about not having him sit in a kennel for 6+ hours. What makes it even worse is that the kennel manager for whatever reason hasnt decided to provide anyone with an explanation on why it kept happening, none of the staff members have any clue. It also dawned on me that this isnt the first time they decided to switch him to dayboard with out my consent. When you attend daycare at Coyne, you are to receive a card telling you how your dogs day went. Well weve may have only received 3 cards out of the maybe 10+ times hes been to day care. And the cards never check off what he really did, occasionally they would write a small note on the back. Well, one of the last times we took him to day care, I asked him where is his card, and she responded what card. Well when you do day board you dont receive a card and then we realized that their must have been many times theyve elected to place him in day board. That also explains that when we asked for a card other times it would take us forever to receive one that we would literally just leave. We noticed his behavior is different of course from when he gets to do day care compared to day board. With dayboard all you get is 10 minutes of cuddle time but hours locked in a kennel. One day we tried to just even get him into daycare but it took an hour for me to even check in (40 minutes before the lady would even speak to us about check in, and 20 minutes in the waiting in the lobby before leaving). And when we left they called 10 minutes later asking if we left.
They treat every animal as if it were their own! We never have to worry when they take our puppy in the back to give him his vaccines! Every staff member is incredibly friendly! Their puppy package is a great value for all the new puppy needs! Lovely people, unbeatable value, and SUPER clean! Overall impressed! Very recommend!!!
I cant believe its taken me 2 years to write this! Coyne animal hospital came to my home to put my baby of 16 years to sleep. I was so thankful for the staff and doctor. They have no clue how much that helped. They were very supportive and showed compassion. So close to thanksgiving, they came same day. I was very depressed after losing my Ruthie, cocker spaniel. Each time I wanted to write a review I couldnt. I knew it would be hard but did not grasp how much pain I would feel, still two years later. The card they sent me I have read several times. I wonder when they were signing it if they knew it really would mean something to somebody! I hope they will continue to help people like me with the passing of their babies. Thank you doctor and staff!
I had a somewhat frustrating experience trying to get my cat’s medication compounded because he wasn’t taking the pill form anymore. Took them a full day for someone to call me back with a doctor’s approval so my cat missed his dose for the day. I was worried he might have uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms, though thankfully he seemed ok for the day. However, my main issue with this office is the attitude and disorganization I found when I actually brought the medicine in to be compounded. The receptionist told me again I needed to have it approved and questioned me as to who I spoke with before. I confessed I didn’t know their name, and she told me they couldn’t do it and gave me the bizarre excuse that they had a shift change at 2 and therefore didn’t know who had approved it earlier. This concerned me because it seemed as though they hadn’t been properly documenting these medical decisions or perhaps didn’t understand how to look at the notes, and my cat was going to have to miss his dose for a second day. Then she disappeared for about ten minutes without any explanation…in the end I finally got the medicine compounded, but not without some difficulty. Overall I’d say this vet office is convenient for people whose pets don’t have any ongoing/long-term care issues and want a quick check up, but if you need more involved care you will likely experience long waits and miscommunication in the process.
We just had a very rude vet tech who complained that our cat sneezed on her which is why we brought him in with a respiratory issue and appeared to be very put out to even be there in the same room. She then proceeded to leave my wife waiting in a room for some kind of status update for over 50 minutes before I had to call (from home) the front desk of the office and tell them that my wife has been sitting waiting for someone to deal with the problem for over 50 minutes with not even an update of sorry we are busy sorry we are running the numbers it will take an hour nothing. She also complained that there was no computer to process the bill and came back and slapped the credit card and receipt on the counter very put out. The service level is shocking, if you cant handle a cat sneezing on you then maybe you should be working in a different career.Sorry that we inconvenienced your veterinarian practice with our sick animals but we have now chosen to move our 10 family pets away from the practice. We came to coyne for help, not for attitude problems.
Compassionate staff, beautiful facility but a bit overpriced
I had our toy poodle groomed in December,2020, they kept her for 6 HOURS, & I had to call to check on her. Then Foxys ear started bothering her, we thought it was a hair issue, but after taking her to our vet, we discovered it was from water in the ear. So be careful taking your dog to be groomed?
Our furbabies have gone to Coyne for all their care and boarding needs since they became part of our family. I wouldnt take them anywhere else. For the most part, theyre on top of everything. Last month I had to put my sweet pomeranian to sleep, the kindness and empathy from the vet tech and doctor was unparalleled, it couldnt have been better under the circumstances. The routine care my Doberman/GSD mix girls receive is outstanding, the reminders are so helpful as a busy, working, mom who has a ton to keep track of as is. Love Coyne. The only disappointing experience Ive had, (which is the for the most part instead of always) was this morning. I called last week to update my card info on file for my two dogs wellness plans. The staff member on the phone was great. She was able to help me, and when I had questions about how the new wellness packages were structured, she was happy to answer. My dogs are boarding this coming weekend. I wont be picking them up, someone else will, so I came in the morning to bring in fecal samples, and put a credit card on file for the boarding charges and anything else as theyll be receiving their annual vaccines while boarding. The girl at the front desk (Lynn by the name on her necklace) said thatll be $62... okay. Ive never had an issue covering my dogs expenses, but I did ask why when they have the wellness package. She told me they had already used the fecal exam for the year. I asked how that was possible when their plans literally renewed last week. She replied the same, they already used it for the year, again I asked how if the plan just renewed? She just stared at the computer and didnt reply at all, seemingly annoyed. I paid, she said youre all set. I told her when I called last week I wanted to put a card on file for boarding and an alternative pick up person. She took the info and again said youre all set. Alright, but Im not finished. I also wanted to ensure that my pomeranian whos no longer with us, no longer had a reservation. It seemed every question or task I was checking off my list was a nuisance to her. I understand entirely if she didnt have the answers to my questions, nobody knows the answer to every question in any given practice, but perhaps she could have asked someone else to help me, or at least have acknowledged she wasnt sure rather that staring at her computer screen with her chin in her palm waiting for me to hush up and just pay. I only wanted to know why I was paying it, as most people would want to know what theyre hard earned money is being spent on, especially when paying for coverage for such tests, and wanted to put a card on file to ensure their arent any issues with payment for the person picking up my dogs on Sunday while Im on a plane unable to answer the phone. Frustrating.
I highly recommend Coyne Vet to any pet owners! The staff is so nice, caring, and knowledgeable. Dr. Salay has been great with treating my 5 month old puppy who broke his toe. Dr. Salay and his staff made me feel comfortable and informed with the way they cared for my puppy during our little scare! The compassion the whole staff shows is astounding! Love this team.
Anytime I tell my puppy were going to the vet she gets excited. They are amazing with her. I would recommend them to anyone.
We make the extra effort to drive out to the CP Coyne because we trust the whole practice with our pups. We are closer to the Portage location but we just love the Crown Point staff so much! The vets, front desk staff, vet techs and all of the employees have never been unprofessional and have ALWAYS given all of our babies the absolute best care. We had a very special needs guy who they treated with kindness, compassion and respect throughout his whole treatment for Cushings, with the addition of diabetes and rear paralysis, until he needed to cross the bridge. The doctors allowed us the chance to give him the most comfortable life he had left while keeping his dignity. We now entrust them with our others and our newest ❤. Please continue to do what you all do...
The staff was extremely sweet and caring for both me and my pup. Facility is super clean and the social distancing was highly appreciated. If I didn’t live so far, I would definitely come here as my primary vet. ❤️
Coyne Veterinary Center is where I take my year old Siberian Husky. It is on a walk-in basis which is nice because you can quickly address issues without needing to schedule an appointment. Staff are attentive, friendly, genuine animal lovers. The process is quick with minimal wait time to see the doctor. They have payment plans available which really help spread out the costs of shots and visits.
This office carried out my beloved dog’s homegoing ceremony and I couldn’t have asked for a more compassionate, skilled, professional team to do so. They even sent me a card expressing their sympathy a couple of weeks later which meant a lot. I will definitely be frequenting this vet from now on.
So lucky to have Coyne nearby for our furry family! Rayne makes us smile every time we check in. Highly recommend!
I have boarded my girls at Coyne a few times now and I have been happy every time. I like how I can go on to Snapchat and see whats going on with them when Im away it makes me feel better. I am more at ease when Im away being able to look in on them and see that they are having a good time. Coyne also has very convenient drop-off and pick-up times and thats important when you work.
The folks at Coyne always go the extra mile to care for my dog. They always greet you with a smile, the doctors are knowledgeable, and the staff tailors your long term care plan to the issues you are most likely to encounter over the life of your pet to make sure you get the most value for your money. Such a wonderful facility and a caring staff. Customer for life!
The staff at Coyne are always a delight. They performed emergency surgery one of our pups and we couldnt be more grateful. The facility is clean, and everyone is very friendly, and great when it comes to any questions. The puppy/dog plans are amazing and I would suggest them to anyone. My Australian Shepherd gets groomed by Kristen every three months and she does an absolutely amazing job! With his breed I get very nervous about new people grooming him, but she was very knowledgeable!
For the most part its a great place . The only thing I would say is the front desk. I know these girls are busy I can see that . However they could make better eye contact with you or at least acknowledge your standing there. The was a big difference between the Crown Point office and their St John office. The girls in St John was right on with greeting you even saying well be with you in just a minute.
We love this place! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. They treat our pups with great care and compassion and make us feel like family. The vets are always willing to answer any and all questions we might have and they never make us feel rushed. They are by far the best vet center we have ever been to and we highly recommend them!
Blown away by the customer service my doggo and I received! The facility is immaculate, fresh, and welcoming. Dr. Waleski was able to make both of us immediately comfortable and determine the best course of action for treatment. Very knowledgeable and was quick to answer any and all questions! Cannot wait to return! Well worth the drive from Chicago!
When I adopted my puppy, they recommended Coyne for the first checkups & neuter. The staff, from when you first walk in the door, right to when the veterinarian sees your pet was so friendly and helpful. They fully explained everything you need to know about the first few appointments required to keep your fur-baby healthy and happy. The building was immaculate! They keep it very clean. They offer free coffee & water in the lobby of theres a wait. They also offer daycare services for your fur-baby! We had a wonderful experience there and highly recommend them!
I love this place. They’re always very accommodating and take such good care of our pups! The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Crown Point - Coyne has such an incredible staff, we always feel important when we come in with our Ruka girl! She loves going to the vet, its always a positive experience.. even on the tougher times.
I was referred to Coyne by a few co-workers on my department. My most recent visit was my first visit and I was super pleased with my experience, even with having to deal with curbside service. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and very informative. Im always nervous about bringing my dogs to the vet, especially since I couldnt accompany her, but I feel confident that my pup was treated with care.
I was introduced to Coyne Veterinary Clinic through the SSHS - Chicago Heights. The clinic was VERY clean and everyone from the front desk to the Veterinarians to the staff in the back ... EVERYONE was sooo nice. Everyone was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! I would definitely recommend bringing your furbabies here!
Really nice people. The kennel was very clean when we took a tour of the building before we boarded our Charlie and Duke in the spring. Took really good care of my furbabies. They always are bathed before we pick them up. This time we had to stay one extra day out of town unexpectedly. I called to tell the staff and they were very understanding. Matter of fact they gave me a call back to check to see if it was ok to feed them the house brand of food because I didnt have enough of the food they like because of the extra day. Of course it takes a few extra minutes to pick my boys up but I dont mind because I know they were in good care while we were out of town. We have used Coyne in Crown Point for about 8 months and will continue to do so.
Had to take my cat in unexpectedly on a Thursday evening at 7pm. After checking in, because my cat wasn’t feeling good, they got us in an exam room immediately. This really impressed me....they wanting to be cautious so other pets weren’t exposed. Dr Waleski was wonderful....as was the rest of the staff. My cat and I were in and out in 45 minutes and that included blood work and sub q fluids.
Walled in, very quick to get back in a room. Tech was very nice and kept us informed for the wait. Office was busy, but the wait was not bad at all. I was just thankful i was able to get in same day and quickly. Thank you to all the staff for being extremely friendly.
We moved to Indiana recently and needed a new vet researched this group and lovedLoved loved the experience I had here. The place was so clean and inviting walk-ins welcomedAnd encouraged.I called to make an appointment entered my information they had contacted my previous vet to confirmHealth records and vaccinations. I walked in waited about 15min was shown to a pt roomThe tech came in weighted the dog. Did his exam then the doctor came in saw the dog.Asked great questions did the lab work because he’s 14 and they could run some test toSee if he has anything underlying things going on. Great experience
Terrible line of communication between the staff on all levels and over priced. I expected better service. Every time I went there, they never knew what to do with my puppy, pretty much just guessed in all honesty. Perhaps they need new management or better updated systems idk. But I’m not going back after 7 visits there.
Very impressed with Dr. Szalay and his colleagues and staff. I am 100% confident my puppy is getting quality care when I bring him to Coyne. The doctors, technicians, and staff always take extra time to answer all my questions.I especially like the puppy care plan that includes checkups, routine year-one vaccinations & immunizations, and getting fixed - a great value for the first year of a dog’s life.I live in Chicago and make the trip to Crown Point because it’s worth it to me to get good quality care I can trust.Coyne has been great during difficult COVID-19 times, offering drive-up service with no appointment required.
We have boarded our dog here on a number of occasions and have had great experiences each time. Our dog has seemed to really enjoy staying here. The staff is helpful and friendly. They are quick to answer questions and allay any fears you might have. We have also had the dog vaccinated and received routine veterinary care with good results. I would definitely recommend Coyne.
We have used the Vet, boarding service, and daycare. I LOVED this place. They answered all my questions (bc this is our first pup and we are new to everything) with patience and understanding. From the front desk to the poor lady I called daily with boarding, everyone is caring and so so nice. I Highly recommend that anyone with a pet consider Coyne for all your needs. ❤️
Love the long hours, one-stop, had one dog groomed and wasnt worth it. Dont care for several snooty staff members and a couple of doctors. Can spend #SEVERAL thousand a year on medical, daycare, boarding and doesnt matter still snooty, impatient, and nasty. Customer service is everything and although the one-stop vet is convenient, not worth it if theres not a welcoming feeling even after years! #SHAME
I brought Gunner, 10mo old French Bulldog, to Coyne to see what might be causing regurgitation. Dr Mallorie Barenie recommended the following after a brief examination... neuter, soft, palate resection, and stenotic nares repair (nostril widening).April 19, 2019, surgery began at 10am. I called at 11:24am and was told Gunner was doing great, surgery was a success. I called back at 12:26pm to find out when I could pick up Gunner as I was told it would be a few hours after the surgery. Dr informed me Gunner was resting. At 2:36pm and 2:58pm I called back and began driving to Coyne to find out what was going on. Now it is 3pm. I was shown to a room where Dr Mallorie Barenie came in to inform me that Gunner is not able to breathe on his own and needs an emergency tracheostomy. Dr then informed me that they were not equipped to perform an emergency trach nor did they have the supplies. Dr said they are attempting to locate a Dr to perform the emergency surgery and supplies. Dr Mallorie Barenie then asked me,”Do you know anyone that can perform an emergency tracheostomy?” which was witnessed by 2 other people with me in the room. I called Hobart Animal Clinic at 3:35pm and was informed Dr Baisden does soft palate and tracheostomy but was in surgery. Coyne located a DR to perform trach but no supplies. After another 30 min, the supplies arrived from Highland Animal Hospital. Tracheostomy was performed on Gunner and transported to Highland Animal Center where Gunner spent 5 days breathing through trach, IV fluids, urine catheter.SIDE NOTE: After Gunner was released from Highland Animal Hospital, I needed to do a follow up for his tracheostomy wound site. I chose Hobart Clinic Dr Baisden because I recalled that he was experienced in performing a tracheostomy (it was one of the vets I called from Coyne trying to find a surgeon to help on April 19th). At my follow up, the receptionist came back to the room requesting to meet Gunner, because she recalled me frantically calling April 19th. The receptionist informed me she called Coyne back to let them know they had the trach supplies and someone to drive the supplies to Coyne. Coyne informed them they did not need their assistance.COYNE CP was negligent by failing to inform me of the risks associated with a soft palate surgery on a brachycephalic type dog so I could make an educated informed decision (which had I known I would have chosen an equipped specialty facility). I was informed by the DR that it is simply like a tonsillectomy and not to worry. I was told to be cautious to ensure Gunner had nothing that might cause an issue I could add an ECG, blood tests, chest x-rays and add IV cathether in his arm to administer meds if needed. I said YES of course to everything offered. All tests came back normal.COYNE CP was negligent again by failing to inform me when I called at 11:24,12:26,2:36 that Gunner was in distress and that they knew immediately post-op shown by the timeline picture of his records that he was unable to breathe on his own. COYNE failed to inform me of the TWO failed attempts to extubate (pull the breathing tube). COYNE TWICE administered an emergency steroid (11:30 & 1:30) Dexamethasone to reduce the swelling in his throat which failed. I was told that Gunner was great and resting all while he was going through all of this.Dogs undergoing surgical correction (soft palate surgery) of brachycephalic airway syndrome abnormalities should be clipped for tracheostomy and the surgeon should be prepared to intervene IF necessary. COYNE CP did not prep for an emergency trach pre op. COYNE did not have the supplies or a vet at the location to perform an emergency trach.Placement of a temporary trach may be needed and should be QUICKLY performed if the dog is displaying signs of partial airway obstruction post op.One follow up call was received from COYNE on 4/23/19 from Med Director stating they must learn from what happened to GunnerPhotos attached of his treatment timeline as well. I highly recommend Coyne veterinary center. I had to bring my cat in for the first time and they did a awesome job. Efficient and very friendly. We will be bringing him and our dog back to them!
To say Dr. Szalay has been phenomenal would be an understatement. Him and his staff treats every single pet that comes through the door as his own. His staff is beyond friendly as well. He explained everything to us and was able to answer every single question we had about our puppy. I would 100% recommend Coyne Vet and specifically Dr. Szalay to any pet parents!
I am so beyond impressed with the service I received at Coyne for my Czechoslovakian German shepherd. I brought my shep in for her annual deep clean and the package I bought was exquisite. She received her shots that needed updating and the sedative for her procedure for a very fair price. I am most definitely recommending to family and friends who cherish their animals as much as I do.
They take very good care of our babies!! Always a fair price and the staff is excellent!!
Coyne has been very good to our fur baby. We have never had such a good experience anywhere else. We trust them completely!
Something was wrong with our puppy after dinner on a Friday night. I called and though they were about to close, they waited for us to arrive and ran tests. I cant say enough about how kind they were.I also like that they believe in administering the Bordetella (Kennel Cough) Vaccine every 6 months instead of once a year. The staff is super friendly.
Absolutely love the staff and everything they do here. They are so good to my animals and I love the care and time they spend with them. They will answer any questions you have and try to explain the best way possible. I absolutely recommend this place.
Due to unforeseen health circumstances, we had to put our dog down. However, the staff and vets in this facility has out done themselves! They are awesome in every aspect! If I could have given them a 100 I would. They were quick with diagnosing the problem. Very nice and considerate! Great hours. I would HIGHLY recommend this facility to everybody. Even after the passing of our dog, they sent a card 😭! Ill never forget the experience I have had with this place. Thank you guys!
I travel all the way from Chicago just to go here because of how amazing the care is for my dogs. The staff are so helpful and answer any and all questions I have. I know when I run into an issue with my dogs I can call them and they will be able to help. I have a sickly dog and so we go here often, and everytime, Im blown away by the care and attention we receive. I have the wellness package which is a life saver (money saver) and I highly recommend looking into it. I genuinely cannot say enough good things about this place! These people who work here, are God sent!
Very very very disappointed. We called to see if we needed appointment or if we can walk in. They advised that they take walk ins. We go there, text them, wait in parking lot. Advise what we needed. We waited 1.5 hours in parking waiting for them to come get our pet. They finally come out and tell us it will take about 1.5 hrs because theres just one vet available, we go get food and decide to drop off food at home for rest of family. They call us in 30 mins telling us pet is ready to pick up.This is unacceptable to not forewarned us that this was a 3 hr ordeal for something simple. Then they tell us it would be 1.5 hrs and we leave only to find out it took 30 mins. How ridiculous this place is and how ridiculous this process is also
Coyne has been absolutely incredible. Being a first time dog owner a couple of years ago, I had no idea the steps in being a responsible pet parent. They have guided my family on how to keep Peanut healthy by being preventative instead of reactive. Its one thing to have such an incredible facility for everything Peanut needs, but the true value has been the trust weve grown with all of the staff. Our experience has been incredible.
Good variety of stores. Liked all the employees we talked too. Like the outdoor activities. Lots of visual stimulation. (Trees, water fixtures) A few good places to eat.
EVERYONE is so nice, friendly and accommodating! I get THE very best care for my dog at every single visit. They follow up and have upfront pricing. I love their flexible hours, and regardless of day or time you are greeted with the same excellent customer service. We will forever be loyal. PLUS++ this place is very clean and so well kept.
First time coming really liked the the friendly staff and was impressed with Dr, Szalay the first day explaining everything to us and then seeing Dr. Barenie the next time and getting quality care and anwering all of our questions. Both doctors called to check on our pet as well. We really appreciate everything they did for us. Thank you! We will definitely be coming again.
So rude! Called a few times and always get hung up! Like thanks I just wasted 10 min in hold for you guys to hang up! So rude and unprofessional!
Great place, very clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I love that you don’t have to have an appointment, I’ve never had to wait for very long. They send you reminders for vet visits, which I love. You can view your pet’s records online, which is awesome.I highly recommend taking your pet here. :)
I love Coyne and have boarded my dog Miley there many times in addition to her regular wellness visits. The only thing my dog hasnt been able to experience there yet is play time with other dogs but that is because my dogs socialization skills need work-I hope that will be something they can help us with in the future. The staff is so friendly and accommodating to the dogs and their humans. Today my dog received a happy birthday message from Coyne, what a cool surprise!
Absolutely love this new animal clinic. Always accessible when you need a good doctor or just a nail trim. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this clinic to everyone.
The staff here are fantastic! They are friendly and quick! I love all of the services they offer especially the wellness packages you pay monthly, plus all pets have an online profile with their records which you can print out at any time!
Had my 1st visit there today was very satisfied what the service very professional and friendly people know contact greenness point in time which was great I would recommend them to anybody
I brought my dog Toby here for a checkup and I must say, it was a great experience! The staff here was kind and helpful. Toby is usually very anxious and uncomfortable at the vets but this visit was the smoothest yet. I will definitely continue to go to Coyne and I recommend everyone else do the same.
Clean beautiful building. Caring helpful staff. My dogs go to daycare weekly and love it. Ted got the ole snip there and everything went well. Good place.
We absolutely love this place!! The staff are so good with Bobby! He loves his cuddle time with them. Even without an appointment, you are taken care of promptly. The Wellness Plan makes it easy to be sure his immunizations are kept current.
Never have a problem going. They are always friendly to us, courteous and helpful!
If you board your pet, they really get pampered while you are out of town. The have numerous playtimes, they put stuffed animals and toys in their cages, play animal television shows. Its like a spa for your pet. Their fees are reasonable. The veterinary costs is reasonable too for shots.
Dr Mallorie and all the staff are great! Im so happy to have such great care available in Crown Point for my cat.The waiting area is comfortable and the whole office is always so clean!
Great place, super friendly staff. They remind you of visits and priced well. Totally recommend for your pets.
Great staff and veterinarians. They removed a large tumor from our Maine Coon quickly and effectively. They offer treatment choices and informed us at the right detail level about the surgery and prognosis.
Coyne has been our goto vet for years now and we couldnt imagine taking our dogs anywhere else! The staff has always been professional, caring, and knowledgeable.
Nicolette was very professional and kind for my pup Tess she was spay yesterday she was well taken care of. Thanks doc! Job well done♡
Another great experience for my shy heeler mix. In and out for vaccines with no anxiety (which is normally unusual, but shes always been comfortable for her visits here). Shes previously had lump removal surgery and dental cleaning as well. Thanks for providing another positive experience!
Great place to take your pooch for a one day get away or a little vacation.Water fun in warm months and room for them to run.
Very clean, friendly staff. I highly recommend this place. I have also referred a friend and she was also pleased with this place.
Hands down the best place around to board your pet! They give them all the love they need while you’re away!
We love this place! We have been bringing our pit bull here since we adopted her as a puppy over a year ago. She is always very well taken care of and the staff is super friendly. They always send us postcards reminding us about what she is due for. Without it, Id forget. They are fairly priced for the service they offer. No complaints!
My dog has been scratching herself like crazy and though she has allergies, it was worse than I had ever seen it. Since I have a wellness plan with Coyne Vet I decided to take her in to make sure nothing severe was going on. I saw Dr. Barenie and she was very thorough and helpful. She was able to rule out fleas right away (what a relief!) and suggested a course of action which was simple and cost-effective.After my visit I was able to check out right in the exam room which was really nice so I didnt have to wait in line again. I had also ordered a blood panel while I was there because I had seen ticks on my dog a month before and wanted a baseline to confirm she didnt catch anything. The next day I got a call from Dr. Barenie herself who said everything was fine and wanted to know if I had questions. I felt it was very thoughtful for a busy doctor to go out of their way to contact me in case I had questions-this is not something I was used to from my previous vet.My service with Coyne Veterinary Center continues to be high-end and welcoming. I trust their veterinarians and staff, and I wouldnt want to take my dog Sadie anywhere else! Oh and I almost forgot to mention...Sadie saw instant relief from the allergy relief injection they gave her and Im pretty sure if she could say THANK YOU, she would!
We are new to the area and live close to Coyne. One of our dogs was sick and I was surprised with the no appointment policy...we got in quickly to see the doctor and have had a follow up situation with them on the phone. The call back and treatment were both very thorough. Next I am going to try them for grooming of my two little guys. So far very happy to have them as an almost neighbor!
