Jobs like this are notorious for turn around rate. It isnt for everyone and can get stressful. The company and the people are great people and they are in the business of helping people, which is to be commended. All the people are great, clients and staff alike. It really isnt a bad place to work.

The mental health training provided out of this office is absolutely exceptional! I have never had better training on mental health.

I love working here. I have been trained on all points of my job by friendly people that will go out of their way to help you if you do not understand something that you are doing or need to do. It’s centrally located in CB so it’s easy to get to with free parking or employees. Good company to grow and learn with.

I have been around people with disabilities my entire life, and worked for several local companies providing services to those with disabilities, with 20 years of experience. Iowa Focus is the last place I would recommend a qualified person to pursue employment, or would trust with the well being, and personal growth of a family member.The employees are paid a very low wage, even for this field, and are treated terribly. For a pittance, the management expects an employee to bend over backwards, and go as far as to expect control over an employees personal life, demanding prioritization of their interests over an employees own needs, for no where near a relative compensation.Consumers are often cut off from chances to flourish, and create support networks in the community due to the micromanagement of the directors, who enforce company rules with no regard as to the benefits of community interaction. There are several other companies who provide the services Iowa Focus provides in the Council Bluffs community. None of them are perfect, but most are leaps and bounds above Iowa Focus.

I have worked for Iowa Focus for a little over 3 years. The only reason I am leaving is because it is time for me to retire. I have loved working for Iowa Focus. I have the opportunity to meet many individuals with mental disabilities. I worked with several individuals each day for about 3 hours each. Iowa Focus has always treated me with the utmost respect. They always tried to work with me when making my schedule while making my schedule workable for the consumers I worked with. Each day was different so the job never gets monotonous, while my schedule remained about the same. I spent my time taking consumers shopping, to the doctor, and just being someone they can talk to. Each consumer has Goals that they are working on and I helped them achieve their goals. I would highly recommend this job to anyone. It is very rewarding.

No benefits but they expect you to work at least 60 hrs a week. They don’t care if you’re burnt out and if you try to reason with anyone it’s “that your job, that’s your responsibility “. I sent an email to the CEO and he had the person(the director) I was having the problems with call me instead of actually resolving them. Don’t work here if you like to be personable, it’s frowned upon. I was a house manager and even if I knew someone couldn’t work I was forced to put them on the schedule, well guess what happens when you put someone on the schedule and they can’t work? They call in and you’re forced to work it. They still paper doc because if they don’t have to pay for the computers that’s more money in their pockets. You have to use you’re own car and if it breaks down you can’t work and guess who is forced to? The house manager. They only care about the money going into their pockets. I don’t recommend putting your loved ones here either because they’re not allowed to hug them or tell them about their lives. This place is ran like a boot camp and the director will breath down your neck if ever in the main office at the same time. There is no leniency would never even think about going back but I can’t because it wasn’t even worth a two week notice.

I have worked here for years and IAlways feel uncomfortable when I have to go to the office. I feel like am always being watched. The way I dress the way I talk. I feel the office personnel look down at staff. I just wish that would change.

Worst place to work! They do not care about the workers, they treat them horribly. They care more about the all mighty buck than the consumers or the workers.

If I could give zero stars I would! Would never recommend anyone to work there! Training is horrible. They sneak unwanted hours on you and overwork you. Like 7 days a week. Don’t care you need time with your family. Management is horrible and cliquey. No health insurance for full time. And be careful when you turn in your timesheet you may not get paid. There is a million reasons not to work there!! Just don’t waste your time!
