Very honest mechanics! What more can you say really? They always did right by our cars and never left me feeling overcharged. I have an automotive degree and worked 5 years in the field, so Im hard to impress when it comes to mechanics. This shop is worth your money.

After my partner had a positive experience here, I decided to try them out with my vehicle. I was more than impressed. Theyre everything these reviews say they are. Gary is very personable and he and his staff are very knowledgeable about automotive repair. Recently I had to take my car in last minute after I got run off the road and a piece of metal was hanging below my car. He told me to to bring it in immediately and accommodated a visit like this. They repaired the damage and did a very thorough job looking over the rest of the car. They were more than reasonable regarding the price to fix it. So, Id also say that theyre reliable and more than willing to help out. I know sometimes its harder to get your car in than others; but that just shows how high in demand their services are. Theyre that good. I highly recommend them.

As a student moving to Corvallis from out-of-state, I figured I was going to have to go through some rough car repairs before finding a competent mechanic. Luckily, I went to Garys first and hit the nail on the head from the get go.My experience with Gary started almost immediately after I arrived in Corvallis two years ago. My girlfriends mother helped move us to town, and on the way her vehicle started to act very suspiciously. (stopping randomly on the highway, overheating, spitting smoke) Safe to say, we were in need of a mechanic. Garys Automotive was right by our new apartment, so we took the grumpy van in. Gary was able to get the van in right away and fix it in time for everyone to get home on time, at a reasonable price to boot.Since then, Ive taken two different vehicles to Gary on many occasions for anything from oil changes to timing belt replacements. Hes always very diligent in explaining to me what work needs to be completed and why. The work is always completed on time for under the quoted price. He also guarantees his work for a year, which, to me, gives some peace of mind when youre spending money on a repair.Anywho, Gary and the employees of Garys Automotive are extremely competent professionals who have always proven to be fair and honest in the interactions I have had. I recommend their services.

Based on great reviews, we decided to get our brakes looked at by Gary and his crew. He was able to get us in within a week and took care of us in a couple of hours. Gary seems very honest and we are happy with our experience at Garys. We will be taking our vehicle to Garys if any other issues arise in the future.For our brake service, the pricing was fair and reasonable, based on the comparison between Garys and other service shops.

O.K. So, I dont want to sound like all the other reviewers, but.....uuuuuh....I am. This guy is GREAT! I, too, have a kid at OSU and was worried about not being present when my daughter needed to take her vehicle in for repairs. Gary has worked on my daughters vehicle several times for several issues over the last four years (the number of times refers to the crappy quality of my daughters vehicle, not poor work on Garys part). Gary has always been completely honest and fair in regard to any repairs that have been necessary. He makes every effort to keep costs at a minimum which is greatly appreciated by my daughter who is trying to be financially independent. Furthermore, on more than one occasion, he has diagnosed either no problem or a minor problem that could easily be fixed by my daughter on her own. He did not charge for any of these occasions even though they obviously used up a portion of his day. I wish I could clone Gary and his business philosophy and put him in every town/city. Sadly, in this day and age, most people feel like they have to be hyper-vigilant to avoid being ripped off. Gary is a welcome exception to this rule. Thanks again, Gary. God bless you, brother!!!!

I received exquisite service from Gary and his crew. Gary is the kindest and most genuine person! He and his crew are incredibly knowledgeable with what they do. I came in for a taillight repair and with no appointment and he stopped and helped me immediately. They repaired my light within the hour with no hesitation. Without question, I 100% recommend to come to Gary’s Automotive Repair if you have any type of car trouble. I will always be coming to Gary’s from now on!

Gary is just a good guy, period. Its reflected in the mechanics that work for him, their honesty, and the quality of work they do. There are several good auto shops here in Corvallis, but Garys is the best and weve never had any reason to look elsewhere.

Gary seems nice and he seems honest. But unfortunately Ive had a hard time getting him to actually fix anything on my car. Most notably, he just kept turning the check engine light off and pulling the codes but not actually fixing anything, even when I specifically told him it was running rough and asked him to please fix it. The codes came back saying I had misfiring cylinders but again, he just reset the computer and seemed surprised that I actually wanted it fixed. A week later the light was back on and I had it fixed and D&B Bear around the corner.

Only place I will take my car from now on! Gary was incredibly nice and helpful, and only charged me for the part of my car that needed replacing. The whole trip cost me $20, and he even took the time to explain to me what was wrong and all the different ways he checked to be sure that nothing else was wrong. Sad Ill be leaving the area soon, otherwise this is the only place I would ever go.Down side is that sometimes you have to call multiple times to get a hold of anyone, but thats really a small price to pay for great service.

Gary was able to help me out directly with a small task that I couldnt have done myself. Got to it the same day, unlike everyone else I called. The price was also the most reasonable. I will definitely be a return customer after my experience.

Hands down the best experience I have ever had with a repair shop. Gary and all his guys are friendly, honest, informative, and do great work. They worked with me on multiple occasions doing repairs as I could afford them. They took the time to explain what was wrong, showed me the broken parts, and were always able to fit me into their busy schedule. Not only are their prices the best in town but they have the best customer service of any shop. They worked with me on multiple issues and were honest with what repairs I could accomplish myself. I am so thankful to have taken the old Subaru here.

Gary always treats me well. He doesnt ever try to upsell over over diagnose. They do rework for free if needed. Very honest and a great mechanic. Highly recommend.

Always had a positive experience here. Just came back from having a code cleared and the source checked. No problems, no charge even when I offered to pay for their time. Class act all the way.

I havent used them but they seemed really friendly I would have no issue taking my car there.

I went into Garys because my heater controls were not working. I was quoted around $200 for parts and labor for one of the plastic pieces that had broken. I went in to pick up my car, was told it looked great and if I had a problem to let them know and paid my bill. I got in my car to realize that they had not really fixed the issue... it worked better but wasnt fixed. Went right back inside to let Gary know and his response was it was fixed enough and he had not let me know that the air conditioning didnt work because it was winter and he didnt think it was a big deal. After some really unpleasant words he refunded the cost of the work. Most unpleasant experience Ive had in town. Will not return.

Whenever I get a choice I will choose to have my cars repaired at Garys! Whatever wait time they say youll have to wait is so worth it! They are honest and, in my experience, and their charges consistently come out to less than the quoted amount. One time my husband took our old 4 runner in. The mechanic spent an hour diagnosing the problem. Gary didnt think his conclusion sounded right and went to check for himself. Apparently the problem was that we had gotten it stuck between 4 wheel drive and the other option. He popped it into place and told us it was no charge because the hour of pay for his mechanic was worth the look on his mechanics face when he told him what the actual problem was.

Everyone was so helpful and caring! Explained my problem and got in a few days later! Will be going to them for all of my automotive needs!

Came here based on the great reviews and I was not disappointed. The staff and Gary are really nice and funny; because the service is great A LOT of people go to this shop so I had to wait a few days to get my car in. However, now that I have been there I dont think I will go anywhere else :)

My daughter attends school at OSU. Here car developed an engine problem but I was unable to look at it since we live so far away. She knows little about cars and was clearly at the mercy of an auto repair shop. She took her car to Garys Automotive. He spent about 45 minutes on the car, fixed the problem, and at a nominal charge. I have never written a review before, but thought this experience warranted some positive feedback. If you are in need of service, I strongly recommend Garys Automotive.

I am not upset that they were not able to fix my car. However, I am upset that I had to call over 6 times in one day (my fiance called several times also) to get someone on the phone and not their mailbox is full message.They did not call and contact us about our car all week (4 days past our original appointment) as a patiently waited to hear their assessment. The customer service is seriously lacking.

They were able to fix an idling probelm on my car that no one else had been able to for the past several years. They got my car in the morning after I called and the repair was cheaper than expected.

Just had work done there, great quote, honest service - no upselling. He even threw some work in free.Only downsides: 1) I wanted a number of things done and had to remind him of the smaller jobs, 2) it took longer than originally planned.Ive a feeling that #2 is part of why I got one of the pieces of work done for free (the cost was 99.9% labor).I recommend the shop, with the caveat that if you have several jobs to be done (e.g. brakes, tail light replacement, and AC refill) - bring the list in on paper and hand it to him.FWIW, Im taking my other car there next week.
