Zach was the barber I got when I went and he did a fantastic job. Hes a great barber who knows his stuff and will take care of you. He stayed open late to fit me in last minute and went above and beyond.Glad to finally find a new regular barber I can go to, and confidently recommend to anyone else.

They are excellent at making sure you get the style you want. Additionally, a few of the barbers are not afraid to use the traditional razor to make some clean cuts, whether you need a hard part or some sort of skin fade. The skill and dedication to the customer service is exceptional; Id say the price is worth it.

I had almost the exact same experience as Rok with the same barber about a month ago. Whatever he was doing on the back of my head and neck, it hurt. I thought maybe it was temporary, but I experienced extreme redness and flaking that still persists to this day. At least he was nice and seemed attentive. I only saw him because my usual guy, Chin, whos outstanding, was not available and I really needed a cut.

Prob the worst experiences Ive had at a barber.-Late-Kept taking calls during my haircut-MESSED UP my neck (its been 2 days and its still inflamed/red/painful)He used a HOT TOWEL on inflammation... I took my two boys 8 and 12. It was the 8 year olds first haircut since our original barber closed due to Covid . My 8 year old was nervous and Zach went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable . Their haircuts look amazing and even though I didnt have a appointment Zach worked my fiance in to line up his beard . Hands down the barber shop . It will be our new family barber .

Got a hair cut and asked for a line up with a straight razor. Was told my haircut was $56, 21 for the hair cut and 35 for the razor. And with what the barber did with the straight razor I still had to go home and use my razor to shave hair off. Was not expecting to pay that much for not even a good haircut or experience. The barber was not very social. And better lighting is very much needed inside so people can see what they are doing with someones hair. I will never go back to this barber ever again.

As a new resident to Columbus, I found it difficult to find a place where I could get a good haircut. I tried most of the chains and a few hole in the wall shops that were recommended to me by friends, but struggled to find somewhere I could get consistently cut. I stumbled upon Mug & Brush and havent looked back. All the barbers, in both shops, have been able to cut my hair to my personal specifications and always exceed my expectations! Both shops have a great atmosphere and are filled with great conversation. I highly recommend checking out the shops and paying Jim a visit!

The Mug & Brush was the only shop open on a Sunday, so I just went with that availability and hoped for something bearable. Chin hooked me up beyond nice! He gave me the fade and tape I wanted without any errors. He even blended into my beard like hed been taking care of me for years. Crazy! And I was in and out in under 30 minutes. WHAT WHAT?! Whenever Im in the Columbus area again, nobody but Chin is going to touch my hair. Trust that.

This is my first time going to a proper shop that isnt a cheap in-n-out deal. I requested Dave based on some reviews Ive seen here on Google and Im glad I did. The guy is meticulous and even took the time to school me with some pro-tips for managing my fledgling beard. On top of that, hes got killer music taste. Ill definitely be going back.

I met Dave Britt who cut my hair and is a manager for Mug and Brush. Dave did a fantastic job and he is an awesome person. We talked about where life has taken us career wise and Dave shared with me his goals for Mug and Brush. It is hard to find that kind of authenticity and I truly appreciated it. As I said Dave is awesome and I am excited to be a patron for a business that has individuals like Dave who want to make a positive impact in the Columbus community.

Doug cut my hair before an important interview. It was a great haircut, exactly what I asked for. He went above and beyond and gave me complimentary razor shave to make sure I looked the part for the job.He also said he would say a prayer for me.It was a great experience, and to top it off, I got the job.If I were not moving out of state, I would be a regular customer at this establishment. Mug and Brush is amazing.... Well, really, Bekah is amazing. We were introduced to her the first time we went to Mug and Brush, so we associate one with the other, but if she ever left, we would follow her with a quickness. Nothing bad to say about the shop itself, but shes the reason weve been going there faithfully for several years now.

All these years I was convinced I have a funny shaped head or unruly hair (still think I do), but my man Myron hooked me up with the best hair cut I have EVER received. So nice that my wife was in shock lol. His attention to detail is second to no one, as if he was cutting his own hair.I had my customary cash and $5 tip ready to go, but had to run across the street to the ATM because I felt he deserved more. Do yourself a favor, take your odd shaped head to Myron and let the man work his magic.

Felt like a vacation from my normal routine. Very unique little shop. Easy to make an appointment and easy to find the location. I went there with my son for a haircut. The atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant. There was enough interesting things to see to keep my son occupied the whole time.

Im a graduate student at Ohio State, so money can sometimes be tight. However, I cant recommend The Mug and Brush enough. My favorite barber is Jim, a super nice and chill guy who knows hair so well that he can give you styling tips and advice specifically for your hair type. Im sure everyone there can do the same, but Ive always gone to Jim.Expect to pay $18+ for a visit, which sounds like a lot, but its definitely worth it, especially if youre looking for careers/internships. Atmosphere is really welcoming, and they do any kind of old school beard trimming/straight razor shaves. Ive always been super pleased with the quality of the haircuts, so I usually leave tips.Well done M&B!

Ive been coming here for a while now, in the past every barber did a great job, thats why I kept coming back. Recently one of their new hires has given me two not so great cuts so I wont be coming back. On the phone he did not ask which barber I preferred or tell me who all was available, he just marked me down for himself.

Been going to several other shops throughout the city and couldn’t get an appointment with my regular guy. Ended up getting an appointment with Jim as my first time coming to this shop and I’ll just say this is where I’ll be going from now on. My hair is very thick and was longer at the time. Jim is a legend and a magician. We talked about music for the 45mins-hour it took to cut my hair and he didn’t complain at all. My hair is always a commitment to take care of and he has it looking awesome. Best cut I’ve had in a while. I’m sure everyone else working here is a badass barber as well. 20/10 would recommend.

This is the only review I have ever made, since this place, the high street location, was so incredibly bad I hope to stop others from coming here. The barber I had cut my hair facing away from the mirror, and cut my hair very roughly, pretty much slamming the electric razor into my head.Then at the end of the cut, the barber barely showed me my hair in the mirror, and didnt show me the back of head at all. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they had done a good job, and went home to take a shower.When I got home, after a closer look I realized something was wrong, since the hard part I had asked for was about an inch too low, and the worst part was the barber had essentially shaved the back of my head completely bald. Something I was not aware of until I tried to wash my hair and found myself shampooing skin instead of hair.A complete 0/5 stars and the worst experience I have ever had at a barbershop. I would strongly suggest people look elsewhere for a better experience.

Jim delivers a consistently good cut every time, but what makes this barbershop different is the ambience. Theres something about the Mug & Brush. Hip music, cool artwork, and a really cool barber, Jim.

Ive been here a few times. It usually was pretty comparable to other barbershops around Columbus. I will not be returning because Jim cut both of my eyebrows (without asking or giving my time to react to what he was doing) and they looked pretty bad for about three months.

I went to Mug & Brush once a couple of years ago. I was recently talking about my worst experience at a barbershop and recalled my experience here. I came to check out the reviews to see if anyone else shared my experience – only to be completely shocked by the inexplicably high reviews. It’s so confusing to me because it was definitely the worst experience I have had with a barber next to a sad trip to Supercuts once.At the time, I was living away from home and was visiting my family here in Columbus for a couple weeks. I was living in a much more expensive city then, so when I knew I would be visiting, I would plan a day to do shopping and get my hair cut here to save a few dollars.Enter: Mug & BrushThe first red flag was the cleanliness of the shop. The day I went -- and I am not exaggerating -- it was like the floor was covered in a carpet made of human hair. Barbershop 101 is keeping the floor clean. And it wasn’t like, one client’s hair. There was a ton of hair everywhere that I had to walk over to get to my chair. The counters were pretty gross, too; I don’t know why I stayed.The next red flag was that I showed the person a picture of what I wanted my hair to look like. The picture was of me with a haircut I had previously. The barber assured me they could do the cut.Spoiler alert: He could not do the cut.The barber replied with: “Well, it’s not really possible to do what you are asking for because of your hair type” or some nonsense. It was, indeed, possible given that my hair was cut by another barber *in the photo I showed them*. My haircut is not actually complicated, but I get that fades are not everyone’s forte. I think I did not originally leave a review because I thought, “Hey, it’s the first time they cut my hair. Maybe I was asking for too much.” Since then, though, I have had my hair cut by barbers in Columbus and in Manhattan, both of which left me with an amazing haircut on the first go.At the end of the haircut, my cape was removed and I asked for some additional changes to be made because I was not satisfied with the haircut. The person hastily did some additional trimming, leaving new hair all over my face and clothes.I was then assaulted with a broom (like a literal broom with the handle removed), indelicately beating the hair from my clothes. That is bananas! I distinctly remember getting in my car afterward, looking in my mirror and seeing my face, eyes, and ears covered with hair.In the end I went home to have my mom fix my hair. I just do not understand why this barbershop is so well-reviewed. My hunch is that maybe the status quo here in Columbus is just really junk haircuts and people are used to that, not knowing that things could be way better.So in the future, keep the following in mind:-The barbershop you get your hair cut should be clean. Like, very clean. Hair should be swept up between clients at a minimum and the counter tops should look like someone wiped them down that day. If it does not look very sanitary, just go elsewhere.-Your haircut should look really good the moment it is finished. This is true, at least, for people with coarser hair types (read: black and mixed folks). I don’t know where this myth of “it looks best three days later” came from. I want to look my absolute best the second I get out of the chair.-Find yourself a barber with really incredible attention to detail. Even parts, tight edge ups, expert fades, etc. should not be too much to ask for.-A handle-less broom (or any broom, really) should not be a part of your barbershop experience – unless you see it being used by a shop manager to sweep hair into a dustpan.And most importantly: If you walk into a barber and immediately see a red flag (or, in my case, several), just walk out.Sorry for the lengthy review, I just think people should know what they’re walking into. Luckily, there are better barbers in Columbus. You just don’t know to look for them if Mug & Brush is your marker of a quality haircut.

I can honestly say Ive been plagued by the Great Clips corporate prices for too long. A friend took me to Mug and Brush and Ill never look back. Mike asked me one question. How do you do your hair? I explained and he instantly had an idea of what I wanted. He made me look good. The guy is a daVinci with the trimmers. Go here, ask for Mike, and youll never want to go anywhere else.

I went to the Mug nBrush a while back when I first got to Columbus. I will never go there again. They did not give me the haircut that I asked for, and I didnt bother to ask for more because it was such a painful experience. Whatever shears/scissors they were using were dull, so the barber ended up just ripping out chunks of my hair trying to cut it. Even worse, online price is listed as $19, and that is what I had been told by a friend. The barber scalped me, so I paid more than I should have for a bad and painful haircut.

I was in desperate need for a haircut, and my usual barber was booked, so I decided to try Mug & Brush, but I wish I hadnt. I came in for a very simple medium scissor cut, and was initially impressed by the vibe of the shop, but wasnt so impressed with my barber. She seemed more interested in the music playlist she was playing, and left my half-finished haircut waiting while she switched songs. On top of that I left with what I can only describe as the most unimpressively average haircut Ive ever gotten, with much less attention to detail, layering, and texturing than other barbers Ive had in Columbus. Not the worse haircut Ive had, and I cant speak on the other barbers, but I most likely will not be coming back.
