I recently visited the shop as a walk in customer while I was waiting my shift as a Stage Manager for the Dublin Irish Days to start. I asked for a head and facial straight razor shave. I was fortunate enough to have Victoria as my barber. She was a very sweet woman to work with. She also took the time to replace the blade on her straight razor to ensure the best possible shave she could give. We had a very nice conversation and she was all around a pleasure to talk with. I will make it a point to go again and be “pampered” (as she put it) again will make sure I get Victoria again. Yes, the place is higher in the price range, but the service you get makes it fully worth it in the end. So, moral of the story, go visit Victoria at Bates and Brown in Dublin and you will get your monies worth. My wife definitely thinks I did!

The stylist I had was amazing! Tristan did everything perfect. Beard trim, facial, shoulder massage. It was amazing. It was rather inconvenient though to have to leave the salon to find a bathroom to use. Im not exactly sure what the issue was but the bathroom was closed. At first the ambience was wonderful. I overheard an employee complaining about the fact that the honoring of 9/11 victims was holding up the big football game preshow. At first it felt like a high end salon and then it became a Lady Janes Sports Clips.

Tristan was absolutely fantastic! So professional and I felt like a king being pampered. 5 out of 5 good stars.Two employees were a bit loud over a football game though, and then got annoyed that 9/11 memorials cut into the precious game. Thats incredibly insulting and didnt know football trumps American lives lost.The bathroom was closed, looked like not temp either. So my husband with a disability was told to go to Gallos... They were not open yet. He had to get in his car and drive somewhere to use the bathroom and come back. Really? ADA, all Ill say.

Got a below average haircut, and you could tell that the licensed cosmetologist just rushed right through it. I’m not going to throw this person under the bus because this person tried to be nice, and attempted to be pleasant, but the haircut was definitely not worth $37 plus tip and the experience was not becoming of the experiences I’ve had there the past. I wasn’t even offered a drink like I’ve always had in the past. Getting one of their nice heavy poured whiskeys always kind of took the the sting off of the expensiveness of this salon. Not today. Before you ask yourself, “Why didn’t you say something?” I didn’t want to be that guy to cause a scene and be like I’m not happy with my haircut, and you need to fix it or else! I just paid and left at that point and cut my losses. It’s just hair, it will grow back. Right? You live and learn. Maybe this will help somebody else make an informed decision. Oh well…

I started going here a few months ago. My barber Josh is amazing. He does really great cuts with a lot of attention to detail. He is professional and down to Earth which I really appreciate. I always leave the shop feeling like the sexiest man alive. Thanks Josh!

Bates and Brown was more than a barbershop. It was an experience. I’m a bald guy so I haven’t been to a barbershop in awhile (12 years). I scheduled an appointment for a shave and decided when I arrived that I wanted to splurge and get a facial as well. Everyone was great and accommodating. The decor is super cool and one of a kind. If you’re looking for a barbershop for yourself or just want to get a gift card for a bald guy to get a shave and a facial I highly recommend Bates and Brown.

Great people and atmosphere. You are treated well the minute you walk in the door. This is the place for men.

I hate leaving a bad review because I’ve had a lot of good experiences with bates and brown but today was disappointing to say the least. I couldn’t give 1 star because typically it’s great. Hair cut was very rushed. Every time I’ve been there it has been “can I offer you anything else?”. Today was either I got the hair clippings washed out of my hair and the rest of the services offered or rushed beard trim. I understand I didn’t notify them that I’d like a beard trim but also didn’t expect at the 25mim mark to make a choice as I see this as an experience and not a turn and burn establishment .... all in all very disappointing. Get to the desk and with the total figured they didn’t add the beard which I appreciated.... got a call 15mins later to return and pay for the beard trim.... disappointing because I know what they have to offer

Very over priced $52.00 for a trim and trim beard - also barber dont listen to what you want they pretty much do what they know. Told them not to use trimmers and not to take much off but of course she took the clippers instead of the scissors like I asked. Just felt like a Great Clips experience. Better take advantage of the drinks the owner offers cause your paying for it regardless you have one or not.

This is definitely an upscale establishment with a really nice classic barbershop feel. Liz is the best stylist Ive seen in Columbus and its always a blast talking movies and shows with her. 100% would recommend Liz and Bates and Brown.

Great haircut, and relaxing shave. Still had to touch up a few areas of the shave when I got home.The price did not match the quality for the cut I got. That said it was just a medium fade to skin, which is pretty simple. Maybe if I had asked for a more complex cut the price would have been worth it.Overall a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere but you pay for it.

I went there for the first time today and it was amazing, the service and the people are really nice.As soon as I checked in I was offered something to drink (no charge) and 5 minutes later I was offered a complementary massage as well(again free) it felt really good, the lady who gave me the massage Dajia knows what she is doing, and when the time came for me to get my hair cut, Madison the lady at Bates and Brown she asked me what i was looking for? And she gave me her own suggestions as well, then we both agree in one haircut style, she rinsed my hair and even styled it for me, it was really a great experience, I truly recommend this place if you are looking for a unique experience and I definitely will go back for another haircut or massage.

Bates and Brown provided me with an amazing experience! Madison knew exactly what I wanted and she knew how to execute it; not to mention the quality of the service and conversation she and the entire staff provided. This was my first time having my haircut there and I can say without a doubt this is the only place I will be getting my hair cut from now on. The atmosphere and the aesthetic is as if you’ve taken a step into the 50’s. Truly a gentleman’s experience.

I have been coming here for a while now and I love it. I followed my stylist, Madison, from her previous job and am glad I did. She does an amazing job with my hair and is very personable. I have not worked with anyone else but everyone seems very nice. It may not be the cheapest place but Madisons cuts are definitely worth it.

I went to Bates and Brown expecting a great hair cut at this price. I loved the atmosphere. It felt like a classic gentlemens banner shop. I had an appointment but got in early in hopes of moving it forward. They were able to accommodate me and I sat down for the expected good haircut. The barber asked how I wanted my hair cut. I stated a face with the to long enough to lay down. He started cutting and as he finished cutting her instantly started applying predict and styling my hair. I never asked for styling nor was asked how I like my hair. He then washed my hair and restyled it. Not once from the time the clippers touched my hair until I walked out the door did I see my haircut my regular, non-product hair. So I come home, way my hair, to find there too barely looks cut.Highly disappointed

Absolutely phenominal job! I had long shaggy blonde hair and John sculpted it into a work of art. Will absolutely be coming back for cuts! I got the Brown harcut service and dont regret a thing. They also offer drinks and other nice ammenities. Thank you so much for the great service!

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, but the prices always threw me off a little and I always ended up going back to the same place since it was about half the price.In this case, you definitely get what you pay for. They have a great group of staff and the place is amazing. During the colder months, they have a wood burning fireplace in one corner which is just amazing. There are leather sofas and chairs around the room if there is a wait, and the giant leather barber chairs are awesome and comfortable.I had been wanting a new style since I had the same haircut for about 10 years or so, and I just couldnt quite express what I wanted at the previous place I had been going. I let the hair stylist know kind of what I wanted and ultimately left it up to her to cut my hair and trim my beard. She did a an amazing job and I havent looked back since.Ill absolutely continue going here for the foreseeable future. The experience is difficult to put into words, but I highly recommend a visit if youre on the fence like I was.

I was given a gift card and had a fantastic cut/shave. However, you need to make sure to NEVER give them your email. They do not abide by the CAN-SPAM Act; they do not include an unsubscribe link on their marketing emails, and multiple attempts to address this have been unsuccessful.TL;DR great shop, just give them a fake name and/or email.

To be honest i love this kind of barbershops, they are traditional and have amazing atmosphere.The place is not cheap but also not at all expensive for the amazing and detailed service they offer. Since you enter they are offering drinks and taking care of you, even when your waiting. I recommend this very highly.Just try it and you wont regret it.Nice afternoon my fellow brothers.

Seeyu is the best hairdresser I have ever seen. She is a very friendly and humorous person, and we get along very well throughout the process. I really like the hairstyle she designed for me. I think I will come back next time.

This is a special place. Its has a timeless masculine style which I could only describe as if Ron Swanson himself owned it. If you can book a Bates haircut with Chris, their master barber, youll not be disappointed.

Exceeded any and all expectations!!! Highly recommend. Was in and out in 45 minutes with an addictive experience. From the time you open the door you will realize that this place is different. From the old fashion brick and classic wood floors to the Perfectly placed big screen televisions, this place exudes class. Great list of services and plain old great service from the staff. It really feels like a step back in time when the barber shop was a place for a guy to experience spa like treatment with hot face towels, hot neck shave and great after shave tonic. You have to experience it for yourself.

Get a free cocktail. Every time u have been there the barber/stylist has been very knowledgeable about thier craft. Havent had a. Ad haircut yet. A little pricey but get a free cocktail or 2

I made an appointment there for my husband last week for the first time since weve just moved to the area! Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and super great job! John felt right away what my husband wanted and need ( should say he is very picky about his hair and people who do it) and the result was just awesome! Definitely coming back!

Went in earlier and couldn’t have been more pleased with the job that John did with my hair. He was very quick while still being precise and the razor used for detailing felt very smooth. I would highly recommend him and this place in general to anyone.

Worst “barber” I’ve ever been to. The “barber” that cut my hair wasn’t a barber at all! Couldn’t even line my beard or cut. Had to wait for another person to do it. My cut looks like a great clips cut lolol. Oh and to top it off my hair cut and beard trim was 60 dollars. I’ve been to barbers that do a much better job for less than half of that! The place is fancy and all but the haircuts don’t match at all! Go somewhere else!

Was In desperate need of a REAL barber and when I walked into Bates &Brown thats exactly what got. I was treated like royalty by the entire staff. I was really impressed with the atmosphere and the 20th century feel of the traditional barbershop. John, my new barber, is hands down the best in the area In my opinion.
