Despite the glowing reviews here, I had bad experiences at Tom Hatem Automotive. Before I moved out of state in 2011, I went in for a thermostat service on my BMW E46. Paid top dollar for the part as I was told it was new, genuine BMW. Two years later, I noticed it was cracked and leaking from the bottom. This time I had a garage with tools and I was able to remove the thermostat myself, only to notice that it was aftermarket, not genuine. You can tell the genuine part apart from the aftermarket part because the genuine ones have the BMW logo on them. I was mad but hey at least they have done the installation correctly. So, I am back to Ohio now and needed an oil pan gasket replacement. Learned from previous experience, I brought my own genuine parts. I don’t want them to install a Victor Reinz part again that will crumble in a few years so they can make a few more bucks. I went in and there was a very young and kind gentleman at the front counter. Told him I need oil pan gasket replacement and he was happy to see the car. When we were by the car, I mentioned I brought the parts. All of a sudden, his tone changed and he said they are super busy and can’t take my car in the next 6 weeks. Well, how about that? The shop was available until the second I mentioned I brought my own parts, which have the genuine BMW logo on them. Well if you are in the business of squeezing your customers by charging them for genuine but use aftermarket, of course you will try to shoo away the one who brought in an OEM oil pan gasket. People have glowing reviews here for this place but then go on to complain that their BMW is not reliable and expensive to maintain. Well of course if shops like Tom Hatem install aftermarket poor quality parts, you will blame the car maker later on. It is not like people can tell the part is after market after it is installed. I would advise anyone against working with this company unless they have been a really long time customer and the owners know you. If you are a first timer, they won’t treat you right here.
Fantastic service. Honest folks. Genuine advice. Glad to have found a great BMW specialty shop.
Great service and great prices
Nice on the phone but would not work on Mercedes.
Tom and his guys really know there stuff.Pros:Incredibly intelligent, comprehensive and trustworthy. These guys will level with about what your car needs and will work with you on alternatives. Prices are right in between most dealerships and national chains. Willing to work on custom cars and track vehicles. Willing to install custom parts and do custom work.Cons:Because they are so thorough repairs can take a bit longer then chain stores but not nearly as long as most dealerships.
The technician is always honest and straightforward with his diagnosis of issues related to my vehicles and providing guidance in what should be addressed now and what can wait.
Tom and his team took care of my 2013 Mini Countryman which started having problems very shortly after it was out of warranty. They took the time to explain how they calculate the time to fix each issue, sent quotes via email with detailed estimates, had me call mini to make sure this was not part of a recall prior to them repairing it themselves, and guided me in the whole process. They were very honest about the time it was taking to make the repair, and even though it was lengthy due to some unforeseen issues in obtaining parts, I feel that it was done by the right people.
Expert service, on time an on budget completion
Tom and his team do great work. Ive used this shop for BMW and Porsche work. Everything from routine maintenance to preparation of my race car.
Excellent customer service and quality work at a fair price! I highly recommend.
After being in the Auto business for 25 years as a full line GM dealer in Newark Ohio, I have high expectations.I wanted a local shop that is equivalent to factory trained technicians without the added cost. Tom and his team are just that.David Chesrown
Great place where you can trust staff to be honest with you about repairs and cost. I highly recommend them. Been servicing my X5 there for years.
The Hadem family has always been good people and respected friend of the Speakman family. Took my BMW for a window repair and was in and out very quickly. Clean, organized, and honest are words Id use to describe this company.
Tom helped me with my BMW IP Spec race car. It would not start when I bought it and he helped get it going and track down some gremlins. Tom is honest and trust worthy.
Tom will be greatly missed. Ive been back here since Tom has passed away and he would be very proud of the amazing service they still provided!
