My application was denied due to delinquent rental obligations from 6 yrs ago. The rental criteria specifically states within the last 5 yrs. Then they mentioned open collections. If open collections are a determining factor, this should be mentioned in the rental criteria. My credit score still met the required threshold for approval. A complete waste of $90 for my application and co-app. Extremely disappointed...
I’ve been trying to reach this company for days to get a status update on my application. Every time I call I’m routed to the property manager Matthew line and it just rings and won’t take voicemails. The last time I called a lady name Tammy answered the call and I told her I only wanted to check the status of my application. We all know how quickly these houses can go. Who wants to sit around waiting for one house when I could be searching for others should the house become unavailable? At this point I was frustrated, yet still remained calm. She told me that she sent a message to the property manager Matthew to contact me or give her an update so she could contact me once she gets the status. Either Matthew hasn’t responded back to her or she just forgot to call because once again I never heard back from anyone. I am beginning to think this company is a scam. Why am I paying $45 fee for a application and not receiving any updates or communication from anyone and no one will assist me, not even the property manager! Then when I select the option to receive a call back no one calls. Whether I’m approved or not this not the type of property management team I want handling my the place I’m renting. I can already see how difficult it will be to get a request answered should there be a problem. There’s goes a waste of $45 in a pandemic!
Were going into our fourth year of renting through Conrex, and we couldnt be happier. The team is friendly, helpful, and quickly responds to any concerns we have. Maintenance is always fast, too. Thanks, yall!
House is extremely cold and has been since last week, I had to purchase additional heating sources to keep warm. I emailed about this issue over a week ago and no one seems to care. The outside unit is freezing over once again and is causing my light bill to soar like last year. I cant keep paying high electricity bills due to this negligence and I was promised to be reimbursed, but that never happened. It makes zero sense I am paying almost 1000 a month and they are letting me as well as my 9 month old daughter live in the cold and causing me hardship because of these outrageous electricity bills. This company needs better management and customers service! I do not recommend renting from Conrex especially in the city of Columbia and never trust a word they say because they never live up to their word.
The most frustrating rental company Ive ever had to deal with. My wife and I applied to two houses through Conrex and didnt hear a single thing back about either of them. No calls, no emails, no nothing. The only times we heard from Conrex were when we contacted them ourselves, and even then we were only met with well call you about the status of your applications tomorrow. We never received those calls and decided to apply through a different rental agency. Im astounded by Conrexs utter lack of communication and complete disregard for their customers. They must really hate making money. Look elsewhere.
During the COVID pandemic we were gifted with the option if we paid our rent before or on the first of the month we would receive $35 off. We did and still had the $35 on our account. I sent two emails with receipts and bank statements advising and received no response. I called three times and was advised they would take it off my account and still had it on there months later. I finally just paid it. I also sent in my notice to vacate and have not received an email back after a week. I have called numerous times and the wait time is outrageous. Costumer service was a lot better when we could still go to our Augusta location.
I have tried to call about a home that has been on the market for rent over a month closer to 2 months. No one has called back. Then I am blocked out and unable to look at properties due to typo I guess. Called and talked to lake who was leaving message for manager for the region and never heard from him. Called several times whit no help. Do you want to rent to people or not. I desperately need a place to rent in Prosperity or Chapin and this is the only place that has any available. Guess because they dont return or rent anything? Can someone please help. Want a home before Christmas!!!!!
Conrex has been incredible. We just renewed for another year. They have been friendly, prompt to maintenance requests despite COVID delays, and very accommodating. This is our first duty station since we moved away from our hometown. We have heard horror stories of other management companies and what some people have to deal with. Conrex has made it the most pleasant experience and we are very grateful. Highly recommend!
From the very first day that I moved into this Conrex managed home, I have had issues. When I moved in, there were roaches everywhere and several of the windows were cracked. The kitchen drawers and bathrooms were a complete mess. I moved in here as a pregnant woman, and I had to spend hours cleaning up a home that was clearly not move in ready.On top of those move in issues, I have had so many other problems with this house, so much so that the conditions are inhabitable are this point, especially for a woman who is 8 months pregnant. From the very first day that I moved in, there has been mold under the house, bugs, cracked windows and doors, unclean air, broken cupboards and horrible plumbing. All of those issues have either not been fixed at all, or have taken a lot of badgering on my end to have gotten fixed.As of today, the two toilets in this home are clogged, one of the toilets is leaking water, the shower is clogged, feces has come up from the shower drain, and the fridge has flooded the entire kitchen with water. This all happened within the same day a few days ago. Though I sent out an email to Conrex the night that it happened and have been in touch with Conrex through phone calls every day since it happened, it has not been fixed.Beyond the issues that I have had with the habitability of this home, I have had a very hard time getting Conrex fulfill their maintenance duties towards this home. There has been a strong odor since I moved into this house, and it has made me vomit nearly every time that I walk through the front door. Others have noticed it as well. After badgering Conrex about it for months, they sent several people to come find out what the cause of this odor is, and the problem still has yet to be resolved. I can only hope and pray to God that whatever is in this air will not be a problem towards me nor the baby that I am carrying.If you are considering renting a home, please do not do so through Conrex. They are, as their name suggests, a bunch of cons. My husband and I are currently in the process of trying to get out of our lease, even through hiring a lawyer. Life in this home has been miserable these last 6 months, and Conrex’s lack of professionalism and urgency in property maintenance has made it so much more unbearable. If I could give 0 stars, I would. I’m honestly convinced that every single positive review here is fake.
We are new renters and are over all happy with Conrex. In the beginning the renting process was very stressful due to applying for many houses and never hearing anything back about approval or denial but once we were approved for a home the process was super simple and Dana, the residential experience specialist was super sweet, helpful and even cared to ask how the moving process was. Overall we have had no issues so far and are loving our home!
Been with conrex for about 4 years now. They have always been friendly and helpful. They work with you for maintenance and they treat you like family.During this pandemic...theyve remained dedicated in customer service and making sure all my requests were met!
My husband and I have viewed multiple houses for rent managed by conrex, in columbia South Carolina. We applied, the wrong info was entered on their end and a completely different person with a criminal background came up in the process so we were denied. We called to put a dispute in since neither myself or my husband have a criminal background. We lost out on a house we loved due to their mistake. Since then (2 weeks ago) we have called 3x+ a day to speak with someone in regards to our application status and inquiring about a home and no one calls us back or speaks with us. No leasing agent is ever available and you cant even leave a message. This is really discouraging and unprofessional. Some families are in need of a home and since they mange a majority of the local homes for rent, youd think they would atleast call and speak with you.
My husband I toured 155 Laura Ave. Winston Salem, NC on the first day the home was available for viewing, Sunday Sep 20th. We know we were the first to view the property. The automated key was not available until after 11am (which was not told to us) and we sat waiting in the car for hours to see it. The website states you can apply after touring a home.We then applied and sent an application fee of $90.00. We then found out the home was no longer available. We were told someone may have been on a waiting list and already approved. If this was the case why were they accepting applications? Why take other folks money? I know they didnt even run our credit as we have no new inquiries. We want our money back.
Today we learned of an unexpected event stemming from the Conrex corporate offices and leadership based in North Charleston, SC. Over 500 renters in SC and several other states received a letter dated 01/22/2021 from an entity named Vinebrook Homes. Vinebrook Homes stems from a slumlord organization out of Cincinnatti, OH that manages rental homes in 5 or so states. The Vinebrook letter states that they have suddenly (and without prior notification to renters) acquired all of the Conrex rental properties and that all current active leases will be deemed expired and subject to revision based on this acquisition. We were horrified at the aspect Vinebrook becoming our landlord based on their 1 to 2-Star ratings on Google and Yelp and with the Better Business Bureau. They practically live in small claims court in every state in which they have properties. Almost all the stories and reviews were around the fact that Vinebrook never gives back proper amounts for security deposits because they acquire properties they are not familiar with and then charge the renters not only their entire deposit, but even charge the renters for anything that was ever wrong or damaged with the houses because they never get proper move-in inspection reports from the previous management company. This prospect horrified us. THEN three days later, after ClickPay had been discontinued and it was impossible to even pay our rent with Conrex, Conrex finally sends us an e-mail saying to disregard the Vinebrook letter communication. We still dont know what the exact relationship of Conrex and Vinebrook is. This is not the first time we have received false notifications from Conrex corporate out of the CEOs office in Charleston, SC. The first was about three months ago when we received a notice that all payments for utilities for the rental home MUST go through a central payment system owned by Conrex which would pay all utilities BUT came with a bevy of administrative charges and start-up costs. This would be completely unaffordable. ALL Conrex renters were sent this e-mail and it stated you MUST be on this system. As it turns out, the wording was incorrect. Renters didnt have to use this service. When we called our Conrex rental agents based in Columbia, SC about these issues, they said they had NO IDEA where either situation stemmed from nor were they aware of the communications or the e-mails/letters. The employees of Conrex are the last to know about anything, which is inexcusable. In the BVinebrook letter incidence, several Conrex employees told me that had no idea if they would still be employed with Conrex based on this acquisition letter. Hence, we have retained an attorney to deal solely with Conrex issues alone. The CEO or owner of Conrex enjoys pouncing serious threatening initiatives out there on whims, regularly involving illegal side business deals (such as Vinebrook that seek to nullify the active contracts/lease agreements of the renters) regularly without even notifying his own employees. By the time renters are notified, its too late to be able to take any action except for legal action. This company is a scam, as is anything to do with Vinebrook Homes. BEWARE! This type of thing goes on constantly with Conrex. Consumers please beware!!
They tell you a place is available when in fact others have applications already ahead of you but technically it is available I was literally told. After a few tries was told we were first in line for a rental and NEVER received any sort of call back confirming or denying after the 5 days wait. I called everyday to see about new applications we put towards other properties.I have left a message and email for a J Ritchie I believe and Joshua,was told we would get a call back and never received a call or email back. Applied to 4 or 5 properties and still havent received any denial or regret to inform you someone has already leased said property or even a call back to help find other properties that are actually available. I only wanted help finding available properties. This is a terrible management company .I am glad we found another that responded literally the second day to me applying to a property. Very disappointed in the lack of support from this property management agency. Zero stars.

Moved in this house officially a day ago and cannot even use the refrigerator due to the infestation of cockroaches. We have breast milk spoiling and food wasting due to these disgusting conditions. The house was not cleaned at all, inside the cabinets in both bathrooms kitchen and hallway closets is disgusting. No effort put in when it came to getting this house prepared for the tenants. There is rotten spoiled milk outside in our yard that smells absolutely ridiculous the neighborhood has complained about it. Is this how you all are continuing to do business?

This company is an outstanding company to be part of and I would encourage others to apply at Conrex if youre looking for a company that strives to be a leader in their market, appreciates their employees, provides the resources and support to ensure your success and where advancement is there for those that perform for it. Work for Conrex, you won;t be disappointed!
Conrex has purchased 3 houses I know of in my neighborhood in Irmo. From what Ive seen they basically buy distressed type properties that are in severe disrepair, put a few coats of paint on them, and rent them out for a bunch of money. Ive told Conrex about problems with police constantly coming out to their rentals for a variety of criminal activity and thought that they may at least be concerned about their tenants posing a threat to neighbors from a liability standpoint, but they really could care less. Conrex and companies like them are bringing crime to neighborhoods that were once safe and contributing to the deterioration of towns like Irmo and they dont care.

I wished I did and now Im counting the Days till my Lease is Up!!!Update: Today is 9/4/202 0 and I just recved a phone call back regarding a non working stove and was advised that although there are 2/7 screens on my Windows, I was fighting a lost cause and they wont be replaced. Wow.
Good evening. I rarely do reviews but after the experience my family had with the company, I felt it necessary. A tree from onne of your properties fell on my aunts car causing several thousands of dollars in damages. My family and I contacted your office multiple times and no one reached back out. I finally got a hold of Joshua, very polite man, and he stated a property manager would be in touch. That never happened. The tree covered my aunts car for three days before I call the police to expedite the City of Columbia to move the tree. What if my aunt or a member of my family had been in that car? Would the level of professionalism have changed? No one called to ask if we were okay or provided a solution to the problem. No one at your company seems to know your insurance information. A lady came the first day of the incident and took pictures. Two other people entered the house while the tree laid on the car. NOTHING WAS DONE OR ADDRESSED. The next time something like this happens, I pray no one is hurt and you all do better in solving the problem.

Ive been a tenant with Conrex for 14 months and generally speaking have been impressed with them. Everyone I speak with has been courteous and professional. The few maintenance issues Ive had were taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Im very happy with the home.However, Ive been over charged the entire time Ive been here and Conrex hasnt done anything to resolve. I had two pets when I signed my lease and paid all deposits, but one passed away before I took possession of the property. I presented evidence, signed a pet addendum, and was told I would be refunded the 2nd pet deposit fee. I never was. When I renewed my lease in July, I was informed by Joshua that Ive been paying the second pet fee each month the entire time. Now October rent is due and Im still being charged a 2nd pet fee.I expect a refund/credit for the accumulative overpayments of the 2nd pet fee, as well as the 2nd pet deposit, and a stop to charging me a 2nd pet fee. I dont believe this is an unreasonable request as there is a pet addendum on my lease. Ive called and spoken with four representatives who all agree that there is the pet addendum and I should not be charged for a second pet. It was just escalated for the 4th time. Not sure if this one will yield any results either.Anyway, if it werent for the accounting issues, I would happily have given 5 stars.

Ive been with conrex since 2016 and Ive emailed complaints after complaints in reference to the property Im Renting. One of the issues Ive had over the past 3.5 years is a water leak from under my kitchen sink that finally got fixed about 2 weeks ago. The flooring was pulled up over a month ago and we are still walking around on concrete flooring. Ive been suffering with respiratory issues since I moved into this rental and Im certain allergens from the water leak has contributed..Due to respiratory issues, Im currently out of work living in a house that Im paying 1075 for with respiratory issues and a cold concrete floor in kitchen, half of hall and living room. I pray that God keeps me and my Family safe and that he continues to make a way for me until Im freed from this ordeal.
I walked into Conrex today in complete fear after reading the reviews online and was completely surprised at how wonderfully I was treated. My first point of contact was warm, helpful and professional and my leasing agent, Joshua, went above and beyond to ensure that any concerns I had were taken care of and he answered prayers I didnt even know I had. He answered every question and though I was not rushed AT ALL, I was still able to get in and out in a timely manner. I look forward to this next year with Conrex! Thank you Joshua for a great experience.
This company has no interest of maintaining their properties. They rent a home adjacent to my property and fail to maintain it when it is vacant. Several neiy and myself have been calling for weeks for them to mow as the grass is over 2 ft tall and poses a snake risk - this is not acceptable with a neighborhood of children. Highly irresponsible business practice
I’m not sure where these bad reviews are coming from because we’ve only been with this company for two weeks and they have already exceeded my expectations. Our AC went out over the weekend, someone was here looking at it first thing Monday morning. When they realized the unit had to be replaced everyone involved at Conrex got the ball rolling. Unfortunately we are not able to get the unit replaced for another week or so but they brought over some window units and offered credits toward electricity. This is our first time renting from an actual property management company but 2 weeks in and I’m more than pleased. Keep up the good work and to everyone who helped today and did everything to make sure my family and I are comfortable in this summer South Carolina heat, thank you!
I have had a good experience with these property managers everyone there is helpful, professional & maintenance is good anytime I have a maintenance issue they come in a reasonable amount of time to fix things, the homes that they offer for rent are very Nice compared to other rental property around the metro area so if you are looking for a nice home and good customer service give Con-Rex a try. Ask for Joshua he’s awesome.
Let me start by saying I recognize looking for a new home is a stressful experience in itself. However, this company has flown their true colors high for me to see. Customer service is below a one if I could rate it a -10 I would. I applied for a home through Conrex over 1.5 week ago and still havent heard anything back not an approval or denial. Ive called over 10 times and EACH TIME I get hung up on or even worse I get pulled on hold for some woman who has more conference calls than President Trump. DO NOT USE CONREX. They dont give two damns about you as a customer or potential customer.
This was hands down, the worst service from any professional Ive ever received. Greta in the Columbia office was quite rude, indifferent and not understanding. I felt as if my Husband and I were being treated differently and discriminated against because we are an interracial couple. She was very dismissive from the first moment I spoke with her, as if shed already made the decision to deny our application without having all the information needed to proceed. She was first, not aware of the application on file and before even verifying our application process she implicated information to me that was not correct. I truly hope Conrex Corporate office knows the kind of heartless people they have working in their extended offices.
I am so pleased from the day I rented with Con-Rex last year April until now. Everything about them is wonderful. The office staff and the maintenance staff are all very pleasant and professional. I like the fact they are understanding and know that we are people. I would recommend Con-Rex to anyone looking for a great place to live and wonderful management!
If I could give negative stars for this property management company I would. It’s by far the worst I’ve ever been in business with. I’ve been trying to contact them for MONTHS now with zero responses to phone calls, messages, emails, etc. They allowed me to go without a working stove top for a month and a leaking roof for nearly 2 months. Because of these issues we sent in a notice to vacate and terminate the least early. That was a month ago and after emails and phone calls, still no response.BEWARE of this place. I’d rather live in a cardboard box than ever rent from them again.
I have been in my home for over a month and I LOVE IT!!! The maintenance personal is fast and pleasent!! Its like owning a home with some pecks!! It would be wonderful if they offer rent to own!! I Love this house and thank God I was able to find this company!!! Thank yall soooo much!!! 💖💖💖
We’ve only lived in our home for almost two weeks now, and we couldn’t be happier! We were in a hurry to move and they helped us get in ASAP! And I have to say that Melissa was always super nice and helpful with all the questions we’ve had. We would definitely recommend to others!
My home burned down and we were devastated.....Melissa, Joshua, Pat and Joe were very warm and sincere. Melissa helped us get into a beautiful home right away and They also paid for a few nights at a hotel for my kids and I..They hugged me and was very warm and caring despite my rental and their property being destroyed....Always go by the vibes you get with a person..Don’t believe all bad reviews.....This is a very caring company with great caring management and staff ❤️❤️My family and I will never forget what they did for us..My new home is beautiful and amazing!
Jenn is absolutely amazing! When I was driving around town looking at Conrex homes, I was able to text Jenn and ask for the viewing code and she would answer me right back. She also let me know of everything I needed before I was able to reserve a house.Move in day was a breeze! I went to the office and they had my entire move in packet ready for me with the keys! I then went to the house and there were only minor things that maintenance needed to fix but overall they did an excellent job “turning” the property.
Initially before covid-19 I was approved to move into a home with this rental company but due to my realtor being laid off my file was taken over by a guy named Joshua. After he received my file this moving process with Conrex went further and further downhill. Everytime we spoke I had to refresh his memory on everything we have done pertaining to my file and everything we talked about in our conversation. We communicated through email and through phone while processing my information with section 8 their office closed due to covid he notified me that I needed to hurry and move into the home or he was going to put it back on the market. Conrex and all housing authority workers were all working remotely from home.We spoke about dates within our last conversation before today and he stated to me that I had 30 days to move in and there were other people wanting to rent that were not Section 8 recipients. Well that was two weeks ago and now as of today no one in the office can recollect where my file is he doesn’t remember creating a file for me and he stated to me that there is nothing he can do for me at this time. So now at the end of the month I am working towards to move into another home by May 1st. Me being taken in circles signing documents, paying fees to this company, my file being pushed around the office, mis communication and unprofessionalism made me very stressed during this pandemic. I most definitely would not recommend this Property management company to anyone if they are interested in renting a home.
Highly deceiving pictures of their rental homes. No maintenance whatsoever, every home of theirs weve visited hasnt had any lawn work, no mowing, no cleanliness inside. I refuse to rent from this company
Conrex property management is joke mainly the maintenance department. Never in my life have I seen such poor work done by people who claim to have been doing maintenance work. Called them about my door they came twice never got that fixed let the wanna be supervisor know and he did nothing to address the issue. So I fixed the door myself the best i could without spending too much of my own money. I called them about a plumbing issue that took 3 weeks to get fixed. Now my A/C indoor fan motor has gone out and I had to call they after hours line just to get some wanna be HVAC tech who cant even get parts on the weekend, so now I have to wait on window units to be brought out and have to be uncomfortable until they get here with window units. I told the tech to tell his boss Joe to give me a call and he did and I explained to him that I am willing to get the fan motor for them if the tech will install it since they are not able to get parts on the weekend. I am a HVAC Technician and I more than capable of fixing the unit for them since they arent smart enough and have to wait until Monday to get parts. why not call another company who is able to fix the unit? I pay almost $1,000 a month for rent and you mean to tell me that a big name company cant call a third party company and have them fix what they cant this is crazy and a big inconvenience and this company should be ashamed of themselves for having such incompetent employees working for them. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. Also this isnt the first time I have had to call about the A/C and never mind the fact that I cant put a filter in my unit and the returns inside are to small for filters and the filter rack at the unit cant hold a real filter only cheap cut to fit filters and my wife and I have bad allergies and need a decent filter and we cant even have that.

I have driven twice from Charleston to West Columbia to look at their properties and both times was pretty much a waste of my time, energy and gas. I signed up the day before for the self tour only to find out when I got to the property its no longer available. No one called to say anything. I went to visit the property at 1002 Gardendale Dr and both times the key to the property was missing. I dont know if this is some kind of scam or what but what I do know is this is not good business and very unprofessional. I will take my business elsewhere.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. The first house I rented from conrex they made it look all nice with new carpet and fresh paint and not even a month into living there foundation cracks appeared everywhere. They hid the failure from us and we were stuck in a year long lease in a house that was shifting so bad the doors couldn’t shut. Also, they gave us the wrong key for move in and delayed our moving by hours.They also word things sneaky so YOU owe them money for THEM not doing their job. They are TERRIBLE at communication and will screw you over any chance they get. If you do not turn in your key, even if you’re living in another one of their property’s they will charge you for a house you haven’t even been living in. Even when visiting the office multiple times they failed to mention I needed to sign 1 sheet and hand over a key. I refused to pay for a house I was not living in and was yelled at by a worker for him not doing his job.I’ve been verbally attacked multiple times by their employees and I refuse to ever rent from them again after this lease is up.Do NOT waste your time with a company as bad as them.They act amazing to get you to sign then try to get as much money out of you as possible.A disgrace of a company.Update:After a very long battle to get my deposit back I finally received my deposit after 3 months of moving out and taking the company to court. Only way to get anyone to respond is to file a law suit then they decide they care.DO NOT RENT FROM HERE
Quite possibly one of the most helpful property management cos Ive ever had to lease from. These people genuinely CARE about your well-being and are willing to work with you as long as you can work with them. Theyve gotten me out of more than one tough situation and the staff is more than pleasant to work with. If I were a college student looking for a new place to say, Id look no further. These people will give you what youre looking for without a hefty price youd be shelling out to a student residential company (which are mostly quite sketchy when it comes to following through with provisions). I would lease from them again!

I have rented from them for the past (going on) 4 years and I can comfortably say they are the best rental company around. I will say that their contractor list is a bit spotty and I have had some really phenomenal experiences as well as some pretty poor ones. The difference is I call back, they note its they send someone out to fix it and make sure it is done right and to my liking. I have *never* had an issue with completion of a job to safety and rental regulations. Any time I have had an emergency they have been quick to respond amd even quicker to resolve the issue. Any issue I have ever had has been with their contractors and not Conrex. Joe and Josh are two of my favourite people in that office. The first handles my maintenance request the second gets me the best deal around on my lease. I challenge you to find a better rental company that provides more exceptional customer service, quality communication and overall rental experience. This was my first time ever renting a house. I chose Conrex because they had the house that I desperately wanted. Now, if you look at their qualifiers, I had a low credit score and had to put down twice the month’s rent as a deposit. Which I did. Through the whole year renting with them there’s been some problems with the house because it was an older house. But, the maintenance crew came out and fixed everything. Every single time and in a timely manner.Moving forward to the lease end inspection: if you look at their list of things they would charge you, you’ll be scared out of your mind wondering if you’ll get your deposit back. But, long story short, my house passed with flying colors and I GOT ALL MY MONEY BACK!!!So, I understand that Conrex puts these strict guidelines in place because they probably had some really bad and careless renters. If you respect them, their properties, and your contract, you will be treated back with respect.I would rent from them again if I ever decided on a house in the future.A special thank you to their maintenance manager, who gracefully talked me off the ledge every time I called with a maintenance emergency and also Mr. Stewart, the lease end manager, who has been professional and courteous throughout the lease end process.Thank you all.
Was told Id receive a credit to my rental account for months of increased power bills due to maintenance installing the WRONG thermostat. Did this happen? No. I was billed rent AND a late fee.I extended my lease a few weeks ago, and now this house is having dangerous wiring problems. Popping and burning smells coming from the breaker box, and its constantly tripping from the smallest use of power. I turned a TV on and my whole house died.Conrex is great until you have an issue. Expect to be ignored and deal with an inconsistent maintenance team. I had an instance where they showed up early and I asked them to wait for a few minutes. They left and scheduled me for the following WEEK. Pray you dont rent an older home. They will just keep putting bandaids on it until you move out. There is TAPE on the wires to my house.And getting someone on the phone who can help you? Good luck. I had to show my WHOLE ass on the phone just to get a rental credit for an issue THEY caused by installing faulty equipment. I do NOT recommend to ANYONE. Not even my worst enemy.
PLEASE SHARE!!!!!!!!! Do not rent from Conrex Property Management - Columbia RegionOn May 30, 2018 I was suppose to move in my four bedroom house until I spotted pest. I quickly notified management and they had Clark’s pest control come out and spray. He stated these are German roaches and they are the worst to get rid of because they lay 30-40 babies per female roach. Clark’s pest control member stated that “ it’s okay to move in he didn’t think it was in such bad condition that we couldn’t move in” depending on how long there were in the house it could be an infestation.I contacted the main office in Charleston and they showed no sympathy or empathy and the said if I stay in the house after the 7 day grace period to opt out my lease I would be locked into that home for 12mnths and I would not get my money back. (The pest control could not come back out to spray until after that 7day grace period because it is illegal to over spray a house) I haven’t been in the house a week yet and they told me I had to be out by June 8 2018(packing up all my stuff and find another place to move in less than a week).On June 7 2018 I had the carpets professional cleaned because I felt that the carpets was dirty! Also on this day I discovered over the stove where I was cooking food for my 3 year old daughter a nest full of bugs.I didn’t want to get a lawyer involved I was still trying to work things out with them and find another home. They are still being difficult making me get a home that’s $1225 and they only took off $75 which make $1150 and 1 month free rent(the rent in the home I was in was $1025) I now have to relocate my daughter school again, pack up everything and move again, this home is further from my job, I still paid for their carpets to be cleaned, and still not staying in a home I paid over $2000 for.
A waste of application fee. They ask u to pay the application fee and didn’t even process my application. No refund no anything no home. After telling me they’d call me back. I never received a call. Paying the application is a easy hustle for these guys. Don’t waste your time.
After a blip in the beginning, Erica and her team were extremely quick to get us into the perfect home. I would recommend her and Conrex to anyone looking for a home!
Where do I even begin...I am so disappointed with how this company handles business. It has been a nightmare since day one and seems impossible to speak with anyone on the phone who can answer a simple question. I have tried calling the Columbia office 3 different times in the span of 2 weeks, and each time someone takes a message and I never get a call back. What is the point of having a phone line if no one will answer a simple question or return your call? It is beyond ridiculous and more than an inconvenience. We have had many problems with the home we were renting, and each time Conrex sent someone out to address the issue, they simply placed a band-aid on it and that was it. This caused the same issues to occur over and over again, and each time it still was never properly fixed. (Upon entering the home for the 1st time, there was severe water damage throughout the home. The carpets in the home were completely soaked and ruined, and the entire home smelled so strongly of mildew and mold. Not to mention the house was very dirty, locks on the doors didnt work, and the windows in the home are so old you cant open them. AND, one of the windows in the home is a hard plastic/plexi-glass. Not even a REAL window!) They do not care about their renters, unless it comes to them making more money. I would NOT recommend this rental company to anyone. Save yourself the time and stress and avoid this company.
Conrex manages some pretty nice homes in the Columbia area. Unfortunately, Conrex also employs some of the most incompetent individuals in Columbia as well. My boyfriend and I attempted to rent from them, and despite loving the home, we withdrew our applications because of the staff. It takes nothing short of a miracle to get in touch with them, and when you finally get someone on the phone they have no idea what theyre doing. I was repeatedly asked to resend them parts of our application because they somehow kept going missing. I was asked to email them my ID and my offices fax number for verification; when they responded to my email they said they had received my ID photo, but not the office fax number. It was in the same email. The woman I spoke with literally told me she just hadnt scrolled through the entire (two, maybe three sentences long) email. Of course they wont refund any application fees because even though theyre hyper-incompetent and nonresponsive - they didnt *technically* do anything wrong. Garbage company. Trust your gut and dont rent from a place with CON in their name.
Conrex sucks. The lack of communication is terrible and they fail to return phone calls. They went up on my rent after over charging me all year by 60 bucks. After the new lease is up I will never do business with these people again . Only after calling the BBB on these people they started responding. it seems like children run this place or A bunch of incompetent individuals I need to give it a negative
The home was left in better condition when we moved out than when we moved in. We were still shorted our deposit refund by almost $200 after multiple attempts at trying to get an explanation. Our shorted deposit refund was more than 60 days late. If you are late (we never were) making a payment, there is a surcharge. If theyre late and short, then the answer is silence. I would not rent from them again.

Customer service could be better.Went to go look(Thursday) at a house(self-showing), key was missing from lockbox. I called the local office, and was told to wait 24hrs or to come pick up an extra key. I waited 24hrs to go back to the house expecting for a key to be in the lockbox, like the woman on the phone told me it would be, however there was no lockbox at all. On Saturday, I looked up their hours online, and went to the office while it was supposed to be open, but doors were locked and nobody was there. My husband called the main company and was told that “we don’t know why there’s nobody there, there definitely should be people there. They must’ve left early.” Monday, went to go check the house- still no lockbox, so i went back to the office just to be told that the maintenance guy completely changed the locks, and that he was the only one with a key to the house, and that we would have to wait to see it for another 48hrs, until he dropped the key off, even though he was supposed to have dropped the key off within the initial 24hrs.I honestly wish this company would get their things together. As a potential renter seeing how disorganized they are, and how many times we were told that things would be done within a timely manner, and those words weren’t followed through with action has made us not want to rent any houses through this particular company. Unfortunately, because of the lack of decent customer service, the house that we truly wanted to look at- and potentially rent, is still on the market, and we are already going through the rental process with another company who seems to be on top of things.
My husband and I applied for a property on their website. Before paying the application fee I called the company to see if the property was available, after paying my fee we called in the same day to see if our app had been received. We were told the property had been taken 10 mins before we applied. We called back to confirm the property was taken, and were told it was not so we paid a second app fee for my husband. Totaling around $90. We were then told the property was taken, and the excuse by management was that there was miscommunication between them and the call center. We were not reimbursed and our attempts to communicate with them were ignored. I would not recommend going through such a greedy company who preys on the whims of those looking to find housing fast.
Move in was prompt and professional. The house was in decent condition but needed a more thorough cleaning before I felt comfortable living there. Unfortunately, I was locked out of my home this past weekend and Conrex did not have a spare key with maintenance or in the Columbia leasing office. I called several times and used the online form to contact the leasing office; however, have not heard back. After driving across town just to learn there is no spare key, I eventually had to call a locksmith to enter the home. I am stuck with a $125 bill and a broken front door that is no longer secure. 2 Stars for the move in part, but Im really hoping they remedy the situation to earn back my trust.
Im so very upset with the service I received from this place. I looked at a property on Wednesday, applied for it that same night, paid $45 and then called them back today to check on the progress and they had already rented it out to someone else. I saw other reviews similar to this and now I wish I had stayed away. Im out $45 and my dream rental. This sucks. But at least now I know to NEVER give this place my business. Wow. Just wow.
If I could give this company a negative rating I would. I will never do business with this company again and I would highly recommend that you do not waste your time or money.Moving in was a breeze. I figured we would have no issues but I was sadly mistaken. I moved into my house in August of 2018 and the only reason we chose this house based on the others we looked at was the pool. We just located to the area and I wanted to make sure I like the area before we bought something. In October 2018 I received a letter from the HOA stating there were back HOA fees that had not been paid. I contacted the Columbia office to tell them about the letter and even sent the letter to them. These fees were from a previous person and not me. I was told it would be taken care of so I didnt think anything else about it.On opening day of the pool in May, I tried to access the pool and I was denied. When I placed a call to Conrex, the past HOA fees were never paid. I have called the office every week as well as Cedar Management and still have not gotten this issue resolved. Every time I call, I get told different information.Take my advice, DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY.
I would give them 0 stars if I could. They will charge you for things that you shouldn’t be charged for when you move out!! They are very unprofessional and rude. I DO NOT recommend anybody to rent from them!
I put in an application to rent a property despite the negative reviews that I had seen. I called several times and left a message to check on the application. The day after applying, the property was promptly taken offline. I received an email a few days later saying that I was denied. No reason was given, and these people will not answer their phone. My credit score is well above their requirement, I make more than 3x the rent amount, and I have no evictions or owe any other property money. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND/OR MONEY with this company!
They are slum lords!! I rent from them right now and we are without air all weekend in the summer time because they wont send someone out here to fix it. I have two small kids and its 90 something degrees in my house the same as outside.Update i moved out last year and had my inspection the guy Josh walked with me through the house and said everything was good they were going to take 200 from my deposit due to the grass not being cut. I said okay a couple months later I got my deposit after having to call them. Now this year in 2020 they sent me a credit paper saying I owe them money even though they gave me the deposit back I did a walk through and everything was paid. Now they put it on my credit I have disputed it and everything. But just be careful renting with them and keep all your paper work thank God I did
Don’t do business with them. 1) All of their five star reviews are family and friends of workers within the Company or they’re the workers/owners themselves, 2) hidden fees and spring boarded fees, 3) if you have a wiring problem or any maintenance problem really, their go-to is duct tape. So unless you want faulty wiring fixed with a piece of tape, you shouldn’t do business with these people.
Maddison did me and my wife the favor of taking $100 from us for a would be approved application just to tell us the house we were interested in was rented (all within the span of one day). Ive been renting for years and Im thoroughly disappointed in our experience and would not recommend this company to anyone.
I wouldnt recommend them if they were last company on earth with rentals. Full of hidden fees and ownership pretends to want to rectify situations, but actions never follow through with words. If you see a property is managed by Conrex, RUN!
If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not waste your time with this management company.Despite paying our rent on time every month, they consistently have processing errors and attempt to charge late fees.Maintenance calls take days, even more than a week to respond to.
I have been here 10 months and just signed a new lease... I love my house, maintenance is done in a flash and the leasing office is incredible!! I couldnt be happier!!
I have got to say conrex youve done a great job by having some of the best professionals managing your property and tenants! Joshua Stewart is understandably amazing! This young man goes above & beyond he seems results and does not count it robbery to answer all questions and makes sure youre taken care of! I cannot express enough how wonderful he is! I will send more of ppl to conrex for his customer service alone is outstanding!

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS I WOULD. I have never worked with such a disgrace of a company. Words can not express how terrible this company is. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. We should of listened to the horrible reviews. They are horribly disorganized, unprofessional and a horror to get in touch with. Took 3 months to get our refund back... mind you they refused to give out a number to cooperate. Try emailing them...ha! The email that they give you to receive your direct deposit back is actually blocked and unless you work for the company you can not email them. Their response is they “can’t simply write a check”, yet somehow they could “simply cash our check” DO NOT TRUST THEM. Three months later, countless of dead end phone calls, emails calls, finally received our check. Out of the 67 emails I sent I received only 3 responses and that is when I contacted the bbb/ legal action they finally answered. Look on their website and try to find a number to call cooperate or the finance department, it doesn’t exist! If they doesn’t scream problem I don’t know what does.They sent repair men that it is clear have never worked a day in their life. Our lock was broken so the guy went to the store to replace the entire lock.., left a huge gap in it and needless to say you could stick your hand in the gap he left. He said there was nothing he could do about it. I was better off doing it myself. Our fridge kept leaking water from the freezer their fix... placing a piece of word under the fridge to tilt the entire fridge to prevent water from building up... make sense? Yeah to us either. Like we said their “idea” of a repair man is a joke.Went to discuss finances about them receiving our check and never cashing it at the office. Not only would she never look up from her desk, refused to make eye contact, talked to us like a six year old told us to “call cooperate for our minescule problems,” would not help us. Her response was that cooperate deals with the money and no one else seems to have a problem getting in contact with them. The receptionist there after we left apologize profusely for how rude her collage is. If that one again does not exemplify how terrible their customer service is than I don’t know what does.I will say the one and only person who was helpful, kind and professional there was Josh! So thank you Josh for being professional.Do not rent from them. They are a disgrace of a company.
When dealing with this company, theyll either get back to you days after youve reached out to them, or simply not at all. Yet they seem to have time to reply on social media sites. Complaints mean very little to this company. they drag on dealing with any issues Ive been lucky enough to reach somebody to be able to address them. Terrible.
Ive left several messages and have yet to get a call back. I paid money for an application and its been over 4-5 business days with no response. Money wasted. Maybe youre better off going by their office and speaking to someone in person.....edited (one week later) I initially rated this company with one star because I felt ignored but once I stopped by the office I was immediately greeted. I explained my concern and was reassured the lack of response was due to the Fourth of July Holiday. Stephanie handled my lease signing after I was approved and answered all of my questions professionally and without hesitation. Im glad I stopped by the office. Had I not done so, I would have believed my initial perception was dead on. Glad I was wrong.

For the past few months, Ive been looking for a house in Columbia. I have used the trulia to look for houses and came across two houses from conrex. Before you even start, you have to pay 99 each 30 days to use the site rently they use. Then each time I applied, right after it will say the house was taken and thats 80 dollars I lost out and my app wasnt even processed!! I dont have money to loose out on like that every time I see a potential house. Wont refund my money and I think thats unacceptable. they shouldnt be able to keep the money. dont use them.Edit: I know they are first come first serve but when we have to pay 80 40 for each applicant over 18, each 30 days, thats a lot of money to be wasting. I just want to move closer to the area my parents already live in. I drive everyday from sumter and its depressing to not find a nice house and have money wasted. I work at palmetto health Baptist and just want to find someone to help me find a loving new home
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!So Im looking on Zillow and saw a house that that was theirs, that was listed as $850 a month. I Went to their website to check for the their listing for the same house just to make sure that it was still available. Because they love tell you that the listing on other websites for their houses isnt always up to date. And I see its still available for $850 a month. So I give them a call because their online see it your self wouldnt except neither of my debit cards. The lady over the phone told me there was another way to view it. She says shell text me a link and all I have to do is send by a photo copy of my ID and the house address. She then asks what house are you calling for I told her the one off of Kildare Dr. She says hold on let me see if that one is still available. So she checks and she then says yes the house on Kildare for $850 is still available, is that one it. I said yes maam. She says ok Ill text you that link I said ok. About 30 mins later I never received any text messages from them. So I call back another lady answers the phone and I told her what happened so shes going through and doing the same thing asking the same information. She then says oh the on Kildare for $950 a month I said you mean $850 a month. I said no Ive checked its $950 . She says no maam our website has it for $950, I said no maam Ive seen it and I have a screen shot. I said unless yall have changed it, it should still say $850. While Im talking to her, looking it up on their website. And then I see its changed. So then I went to Zillow and see it still listed as $850 so I tell the lady. So yall did change the listing she then says no maam we dont do that. I told her I dont want their busness when yall lie straight to my face and I have proof that they changed it. And still calling me a liar. Ugh bad business I wish I could post the screen shot. This isnt the first time theyve changed a listing price. A friend of mine said that they did the same thing to her.

Weve been staying here for about 6 months and have yet to have a month without a problem. From the beginning weve had two sinks in the house that smell like rotten eggs whenever ran(one being in the bedroom making it completely useless) and twice theyve sent someone out to look at it and say theres no problem only for it to continue smelling like rotten eggs; absolutely disgusting. Over six weeks ago our neighbors house burnt down - burning down half of our fence. We have called half a dozen times only to be told we cannot speak with anyone in Columbia and they would take a message; all of which were never returned. So I finally drove up to the office, which is confusing because they have phones on their desks - and I was greeted by the property manager and directed to speak with the maintenance guy. He then asked me to get him a fire marshal report(which is a strange request of a tenant but I took the time to get for him anyway) and again have yet to hear back from anyone in over a month. I would imagine someone renting out their property through a nationally recognized company would want to know if something major happened to it such as the fence burning completely to the ground.. I understand insurance can drag the process out but not being contacted a single time to be updated on the progress is unacceptable in my opinion.
Constantly screws us over with zero remorse for how they affect our lives. This company could end up ruining us financially with hidden fees and constant screw ups. Wording stuff to sneakily extort money from their customers. This business is disgusting and I cant wait to leave them ASAP
Smh…. never again. They treat the disabled terribly. I am a disabled amputee going through health issues. Your service manager, after hearing me say I just got out of the hospital is still trying to evict me. So, no youre not sorry; inhumane maybe. Not even 1 month late, but youre sorry? I asked to pay the rent and late fee with my next months rent with the late fees you already attached but Melissa said NO!!!! Save the excuse.

Filing a lawsuit with all of the lies told to me pertaining to the property. Lived here less than a month and half and we have emailed in over 10 maintenance request and almost everyone was half done. The house is infested and I have a newborn on the way but that didn’t/doesn’t matter to marketing or management with their empty promises. See you in court !
