Hands down, best haircut Ive EVER had. Pete did my hair before my engagement photos and my wedding and I couldnt have asked for better.Pete does such a wonderful job of creating a relaxing atmosphere in his barbershop, it was probably the most relaxed Ive ever been while getting a haircut. $36 plus tip is a little expensive for a haircut, but believe me its worth every penny.After my haircut my Fiancee just kept staring at me and she could not stop telling me how good I looked. Trust me guys, your Wives/Girlfriends will definitely appreciate it.

Great location and gets really busy. They dont take appointments, however. They have a sign in sheet so you can pick any barber that works there!

Came in for the first time back in december. he gave me on of the best shaving jobs I’ve ever seen, and gave me a great haircut. Also gave me tips on how to get the best, painless shave for my thick hair and sensitive skin. Shaving had always been something I hated doing, but now, it’s basically painless with the ways he showed me how to shave. Would recommend for teens with bad beards.

Theres even a couch to hang out on with coffee table books on the history of punk rock. Any guy would enjoy his time here.But the important thing: the haircut. It looks great, and when Pete is doing his work, you can just sense his attention to detail and precision. The guy takes pride in his work. He is also now taking on apprentices, and I can see that hes an excellent teacher. This is going to be Columbias haircut and barber Mecca for years to come. Highly recommend.

I’ve been Pete’s customer for almost a year now and I think it’s pass due to write in a review for him. Not only is he awesomely trained in his practice, he is also one of the coolest barbers and people you would encounter. I can definitely imagine going to his shop for years to come.Recounting a personal experience, I mistakenly went to his shop thinking that I had scheduled an appointment with him on that day. Later that night, Pete texted me and slotted me into a time the following day, almost two weeks before I requested my original appointment.(I am writing this review while the pandemic is still going on and even months after not visiting his shop, Pete has been consistent with the review I had written above.)

Driving up to Halfpennys and seeing warehouse buildings-- youre not entirely sure what to expect. Step inside however, and youre greeted with an old-school setting that somehow oozes a sense of relaxation. Ive been going to Pete for 5 years now and Ive followed him to both of his past locations. I was ecstatic when he told me that he was opening his own shop and for good measure-- Pete is not just a barber, he is a masterful artist. He has never let me down and is extremely precise with his tools. His holistic measure of style and classic clipper-over-comb techniques add to the authenticity of Halfpennys.Pete offers a ton of services, from barbers massages to haircuts and shaves to facial services. Ive had his shampoo, haircut, massage, and shave services. Pete is a barber who pushes himself and has been getting better over time-- a great quality to have. His services dont come cheap, with a mens haircut ringing in at $36. If there is any room for improvement, it would be the value proposition of Halfpennys. The price is too high in my opinion and though the quality of the haircut is there, a haircut for $36 in suburban Columbia should warrant a few additional services like a hot towel treatment or quick barbers shoulder massage. Other shops charge hefty prices as well but because they deliver a full luxury experience, from the services to the shop itself. Halfpennys is getting there, as the shop continues to become better renovated but it still has a ways to go. I believe that developing a more cohesive interior design and including more features in each service will really make the steep price worth it. Still, I come to Pete time and time again because no one can cut my hair like he can. I highly recommend trying his facial and shampoo services, they are simply amazing and Pete even concocts his own shampoo.Long story short, definitely come see Pete. Hell work with you to style you just the way you want and will pay crazy attention to detail.

I’v been coming to Pete over the past 5 years and have never left his chair disappointed. He is extremely skilled with the clippers, scissors, straight razor and his work shows. This new shop in Columbia is inviting and spacious. I highly recommend Pete to anyone looking for a not-your-average grooming experience. People will definitely ask you where you got your haircut!
