It was terrible. We spent 300 dollars for 4 hours of a diagnostic just for them to tell me absolutely nothing. Then they asked for another 150 to keep looking but I needed to pay the 300 first before they would continue to look. They told me that if it gets too expensive then I can just bring them up the title. I paid them immediately I had it towed to another shop in town that same day and the found the problem in two hours shop time. I felt completely disrespected and belittled. I asked if it was common practice for them to ask people to pay before the job is done or before they will continue a job. They said no just when they think someone doesnt have the money to pay. I will never be played out of money by them again and I would absolutely recommend against doing business with them. That is no way to treat someone

I would definitely recommend this place! I do not write reviews regularly. In this case it was a must! These guys did a fabulous job on my Envoy Denali!!On a mini vacation to see my daughter my car decided to lay down and have a temper tantrum! I noticed my oil gauge kept bottoming out and my car began to sound rough. I asked a couple people in Columbia where I should take it to be fixed & they all said MA.The moment I walked in everyone was great! They explained what was wrong and how much it could cost. They made sure I understood the process and did not talk “at” or “down to me”. They were completely professional and friendly. They ended up having my Envoy a little longer then I hoped and I definitely was nagging them a bit... they not only stayed friendly and professional; they really surprised me when they remembered I was about to be making a long drive out west. They wanted to be sure my car would not break down again and they wanted to make sure anything wrong was fixed. I promise you not all places care or even bother to think about where a customer may be going. When my car was done I was shocked the final bill was under their original quote and they guaranteed their work! In my experiences, it’s rare for any business to give a written guarantee of their work. This really just put them over the top of places I would recommend. Not to mention, my car is running GREAT!!Regardless of what you need done to your vehicle- this should be your place ❤️

Its always a hard time for me to find local places that work on hybrids cars, but I found this shop and now my car works better then when I first got it. They fixed it in a fair amount of time and always communicated with me if something changed. The reason Im giving four stars and not five is because it sounded like communication between each mechanic wasnt quite there. Other than that, a good experience and will probably contact them if I have any future issues.

Very disappointed! We were sent to Midwest by various phone calls we had made looking for someone who could help us with our diesel truck. We had troubles getting it started, after getting it started we decided to get it checked out before we continued outer trip home to Az. They told us they could work on a diesel truck. We arrived and they then said their diesel guy wasn’t in that day. Tuesday July 30. But they could get it checked out. So they put it on the scan to see what the trouble was. After hours. They said it was running fine. They installed a new fuel filter and we were good to go. Well we were over charged terrible.! $106+ for the filter plus the cost of the scan, labor etc. We got as far as Emporia,Ks, stopped for a quick bite to eat, and the truck stalled out and would not start. Now forced to walk to the nearest motel, spent the night, had to get a tow truck the next day. Towed to another repair shop. They found that the repair from Midwest had not been done properly! All the air in the entire system had not been purged out. They had done enough to get it running! So another repair bill and delay and we were encountering to our home in Az.I called to complain about the cost and service we had received. Instead of talking to Mark, the man who had called me to check on how the truck was running on July 31, I was transferred to Nick. He said he was the manager. I have never received such rude and arrogant service from a manager. His reply was well it was running when you left apparently it’s your problem. Apparently customer service satisfaction is not his goal. Yes they had us because we were basically stranded travelers. But follow up was totally unacceptable.I would never recommend this place. Over charged, rude comments treatment from the manager in follow up phone call.

I have always had great experiences with this business. I took my vehicle to Machens and always felt ripped off after the experience, but never from Midwest Autoworx. Heres why I love this place. The bolts and clips had came out of the under carriage of my vehicle, making it flap while making this awful sound whenever the car was traveling above 40 mph. My family and I took our vehicle to Machens where we had purchased it and they wanted over a $100 for bolts and clips, plus the cost of installation. I was floored and even asked Machens if they just had parts around that they could use, no such luck. Literally left their lot and drove to Midwest Autoworx and they installed free of charge on both parts and labor. I feel like Midwest has always been honest and upfront with me and my family. Do I like paying for repairs, no. I do understand that my vehicle requires maintenance from time to time. I like this place and think its the best option in Columbia.

This was my first mechanic visit in Columbia after moving here this August, and I came to them very anxious and stressed out. I hoped they could replace my broken front license plate bracket with one I bought because Im exhausted and cant afford tools, and I also needed help for a chronic blinker issue thats trapped me in a revolving door with multiple mechanics since January. Another mechanic I called beforehand bluntly refused to replace the bracket, so I came to Midwest Autoworx due to their online reviews and their tagline no job is too small or too big. The crew here were kind and patient with me, and went out of their way to double-check what I wanted, explain what they wanted to do, and how much it would cost beforehand. They never made me feel stupid or mocked me about the bracket, and they not only cleanly replaced it, but they also fixed the underlying blinker issue that the other mechanics kept missing! They also made it abundantly clear that theyre not in this for the money (as I was actively trying to shove a cash tip at them). This is a very accessible place for low income people and people whove had bad experiences with mechanics in the past, and Im making them my new home mechanics!

First, I have received service at Midwest Autowork for about 3-4 years since I’ve been away from home, while in graduate school. The shop has provided reliable service to my vehicle during my time in Columbia!I especially want to shout out Brett who has always taken care of my needs and brought warm energy for the business. However, on several occasions, I have had less than positive customer service experiences. For example, I had repair work completed on a sensor that requires the disassembly of my middle console. The repair was successful; however, the assembly of my middle console was improperly replaced which cause me a second trip to the shop where they happily fixed the issue. There are also other attention to detail issues in management that I would like to see addressed. For example, the shop agreed, per my request, to change my oil to a heavier oil in the car. During my most recent oil change, the shop added the wrong oil to the car (I inquired first) and mentioned that the business only adds oil recommended by the manufacturer (even though my request was successfully carried out in the past). I was told that I should have informed them of the oil I wanted beforehand or should have set it up before hand with my sales representative (which I did with a representative who was absent). This response was frustrating because I feel like the business absolved responsibility for the simple mistake and an unwillingness to address what I thought was miscommunication.I’m writing this review so consumers know to ask question before and after services.I am also writing this review to challenge Midwest Auto worx to grow!I do appreciate the years of service, but I think there is room for improvement. With

First off, very friendly people and nice environment. However, they wanted to charge me almost $200 just in service (not including parts) to install a new mirror and front right headlight. To a hands on individual like myself, replacing both of these would take less than a half an hour or so and can easily be done. Maybe this is fair to others, but not personally for me. On top of this, I was given an estimate to fix a bent ball joint that was initially a reasonable price. They called me back after I had already dropped my truck off and told me there was an error in the estimate and that that the new price to fix it was nearly 45% more than the initial estimate. This is just my own personal experience, and hopefully im in the minority.

Place has great customer service. Many good, honest, mechanics out there, however, few have the ability and patience to communicate to the customer what is going on clearly. The rarity comes in finding mechanics who know both.If you are looking for an easy place to pass inspection I would recommend looking elsewhere though, these guys are very thorough and take inspections very seriously. (I think a lot of other shops look the other way.) This is a legal issue and these guys have ethical standards; I think we all wish that our mechanics had ethics when it suited us (not getting ripped off) and had didnt have them when it suits us (at inspections). If you look at the reviews though; youll notice all the 1s are from people that have failed inspection. I understand the concern as I had these guys catch a lot of stuff (sway bars I think were loose; other guys already passed me so I didnt care) the other guys didnt. I thought the same thing and was hesitant to write a review at first but getting to know them I think its just because they take their jobs seriously. A lot of mechanics will do anything to please a customer (RPL a part that doesnt need it for an unknown problem) but these guys are always gonna do the right thing which is gonna suck suck sometimes but be good most other times. If your are looking for a used car I highly recommend their pre-purchase inspection. Its about ~$100 and if there is something wrong with a vehicle I guarantee these guys are gonna find it. They give you a nifty report and talk to you about whats wrong with the car. I thought I had a clue about some things but didnt realize a lot of cars I was considering purchasing had a lot of issues I was unaware of. Although it kinda hurt my ego knowing how little I know, and kinda sucks finding out the car you had your heart set on is a piece of junk, itll save you a lot of money in the long run. Also have a cool way to present the summary.

Friend of mine took their car here and had it diagnosed. The shop didnt have the part needed for the repair and so had ordered it. They said the part would arrive a couple days after the original diagnostic and so my friend scheduled an appointment to come back and have it fixed a few days after the part would have arrived. So, the morning of the appointment my friend made the 45 minute commute only to learn the part wasnt there yet. They had to wait around for 3 hours until the truck that was supposed to deliver it arrived. There was no concern for my friends wasted time which could have been prevented if they had just called my friend earlier that morning or the day before stating why the part hadnt arrived or that they should come in a littler later when the part hopefully will be delivered. No attempts to right this wrong was made either. Poor communication and poor customer service. Friend wont be returning and I urge you to look elsewhere if you value communication and customer service.

Good customer service but has a bad habit of misdiagnosing problems, at least in my experience. I have taken two cars to them, (the ONLY reason I went back was because of the good customer service) The first car I had them work on had to be taken back THREE times until it was finally fixed properly. The second truck I took to them, I was told needed a $700 manifold replaced. $700 later the truck ran worse. They acted like there was nothing wrong with it when I took it back (but did try to upsell me new brakes several times, which I thought was tacky) Finally they admitted that it was a sensor that was bad. I also had them put new spark plugs in during the initial visit. Two weeks later the engine sounds like it is knocking, had a different mechanic check it out and was informed that a spark plug had been put in improperly! I do not recommend wasting money at this place, they are friendly and seem accommodating but I feel like it is an act to get you to trust that they know what they are talking about.
