Rented online which was very easy. The whole process was smooth. I liked that. When I went to the storage unit, the gate opened with no problems. I was impressed. Driving on the property, I noticed it seemed clean. Then I turned the corner towards my building. The trash was extremely full. There was a box of trash in front of my building. Gross! Then I went up the stairs to my unit. The lights didn’t work. I used my phone light. Many of the units were open and filled with trash. Leftover furniture and it looked like people were living in the units. Totally spooky! I ran out of there. I called and the gal on the phone was really nice. Refunded my money. I asked how long it’s been since someone was checking on the place. She since COVID. Well, you guys better open your office and clean it up before something serious happens in that place. Too bad it’s a dump because it’s in a great location.
College students or anyone interested, its not worth it.I put my belongings into my unit in September 2020 and did not come to the site until August 2021. In between these dates, management changed. This caused multiple issues when I arrived in Colorado in August to pick up my things. When I arrived on site, there was another lock on my door(which I was not given the code for) and my own lock hanging with the latch broken. This became an issue due to my limited access to a vehicle which would only be there for two days before I needed to move in my belongings on campus and the person driving the car would leave.There were no staff on site due to the storage units becoming contactless in the period between September 2020 and August 2021. I was also not told that another lock had been placed on the door to begin with, so I was unprepared when I arrived. I had arrived at the storage center at 10:30am. I had to call their call center which did the best they could according to the circumstances. I had to contact the call center five times throughout a period of two days (of which they were only able to send emails to the management of the company). They did not have the code on hand within my files (that the call center could reach and notify me with) and they were not sure why an additional lock was placed in the first place. They were not able to give me any updates to my situation even though I reached out to them early in the day.My payments were automatic and I had never missed a payment. This was confirmed by the call center. When I finally got in contact with the management, it was right before I needed to move in. I suspect this timing was due to my insistent calls and assistance with the call center as they repeatedly conveyed my urgent situation to management(four times, one time with the manager of the call center being CCd, through email as that was the only way they were able to reach them). After giving them the serial number on the lock, I was given a code. When I opened my storage unit, all of my boxes were opened. When asking the management why that happened, I was told that my lock was found missing and that they were in the process of reaching out to me.That is unacceptable to me. I should have been reached out to immediately. They then stated that was why the additional lock was placed. When I went to my unit however, my original lock(given to me by the company during September before the change) was not missing and was still on the unit. The only thing wrong with my unit was that the latch was broken. While I was able to get my things on time and it does not look like much was stolen (I am still in the process of looking over my belongings), this experience produced a large amount of stress during a process that should have simple.The one star is solely for the call center who did their best. I will not be using this service again.
Otter Storage gets an F from me. I have been through several owners over the last 18 years and Otter Storage is the WORST! Otter Storage knows how to post signs and restrictions but to fix anything that they said they fix because they cut not my lock but the slidebar to get my lock off. Rent increases every 3months and told me thatthey would not honor my senior discount rate anymore. Its all about them folks and I would never rent from Otter Storage again. Trashy place also!
I will never eva eva eva not never use this storage units again poor customer service the facilities are severely under maintained and people are living in the units it took them a month to see I left before the next month even after I informed the company I was vacating the unit and still charged me so dont waste your time.
Awesome storage place if you like continuous rent increases. Now only did it jump up 20 dollars upon new ownership several years, but now due to another new ownership takeover its jumped up again another 20 dollars since then and as I would guess will continue to increase. My initial rent was 68 dollars when I first had a unit in 2012. Now its over $120 bucks. This is a enclosed space made of wood. Its insane what theyre charging. And what for? Where is this money going? They always tell you its operational costs. You know its just a scam to rip you off that goes in the owners pocket. I am also forced upon renters insurance which is mandatory. Not to mention since otters take over, this is a no contact, no person facility. No one on site. No one in the office. No one living there to look after the building. You cant even operate the lift by yourself. You have to get permission. Ridiculous.
I have had nothing but issues since your company took over ownership of our storage facility. I have had to make several phone calls to confirm you have information/payment/insurance certificates/etc. on hand after receiving threatening letters saying you did not. Each time, you had to confess you indeed DID have what you need, but never bothered to let me know. I had to chase YOU down for answers. Nor was there any kind of apology for my time & trouble to get answers. You are very unorganized and unprofessional ... and now are raising our rates? Not my idea of customer service. I would give you zero stars, but I am not able to do that on this platform.
Really good snow removal team in February 2021. Very nice to see people who care that others have safe walk ways & do not get hurt. Thanks Otter Self Storage for making sure to have a good crew taking care of things that are important like snow removal on your grounds! 👌
Otter Storage should NOT even get 1 star!!! RENTER BEWARE!!!On 11/28/2020 my husband and I took a large load up to our second floor Unit # E0068, to our surprise we found a second lock had been put on our unit. When we called it was confirmed that our account was current and they weren’t sure why a lock was placed and that there were no notes as to why we had a lock on our unit in the system. We were then told they would send an urgent message to management requesting they call us back. On 11/28/2020 after much frustration with the facility and then the lock I advised the person who took my call we were giving our notice to vacate. So we not only needed a phone call back but also needed the lock taken off so that we could vacate before 12/1/2020We received no phone call so I followed up 12/4/2020 only to be told the same thing and they were sending an urgent message to call us. We were told that management is very good at calling back… Now fast forward to 12/14/2020 we go to call again only to find Otter is now charging a $20.00 late fee on top of rent that never should have been billed in the first place. Keep in mind we gave our notice 11/28/2020 and as of today no phone call and we are now locked out of the storage facility all together.I can’t understand how this is even legal because for #1 our account was current when a second lock was placed on our unit and #2 Why should we owe anything because of poor management that has refused to call us back after 23 days from our initial call on 11/28/2020.My advice to any one that is looking to rent from Otter Storage DO NOT, they are an absolute rip off!!!! There is NO reason to be FORCED to pay rent on a unit we have had NO ACCESS to since 11/28/2020.
There seems to be subfloors only. Half the units were open and accessible so there was trash everywhere. Hallway lights were on a timer and dark. There are lifts for units on the 2nd floor but marked as Staff Only use, but staff on site.
Not very impressed with this facility. I did not get a lock that I was promised, my locker was broken into and my personal lock stolen, no lights in the hallways for several weeks, no on-site personnel, hard to get in contact a real person and get a call-back, no cameras monitoring the facility that I know of.
Horrible experience. I rented a storage unit online and arrived happy it was easy and quick (WRONG) it had a lock on it . I call so they said they get me a new one . They try increasing rates and take away promos . Then I call again and some very rude I don’t care kind of lady gets on and says pretty much we don’t care about our customers. Stay away go somewhere else

I am only giving 2 stars because I dont know anything about Otter Self Storage. I would give the Previous company 5 stars.If you keep raising the rates, I will be forced to find another storage unit. Perhaps you should consider those that have rented there for over 10 years to be reconsidered to lower rates. On another topic, the grounds are looking like a trash heap and nobody is personally walking over the grounds.
Management skills very bad they say they close at 10:00 and theyre closing way early close at 9:00 or before you hit the call button for helping the manager he does not answer I would not recommend the self storage to anybody I want my money back Im also filing a lawsuit
We had our stuff in the Colorado Springs storage for a year almost and absolutely loved it it was safe secure and Michelle that was on site always did what she could to help then it switched to otter storage no more person on-site with the interest of the customers, the upstairs apartment thats supposed to be for an on site manager is rented out to what looks like mostly children now that isn’t the issue it’s the issue of them hanging out of the windows and screaming as customers as we’re trying to get into our storage units. The gate always seems to not work anymore and when you call customer service all they say is sorry can’t help you with the most sniveling attitude. Their phone system never seems to get to an actual person unless you attempt to call them four or five times. We finally receive our new agreement from them and after being up charged for insurance the agreement states that the insurance doesn’t cover anything if something was to happen to the storage. They’re a complete joke and the absolute worst storage unit place. I wish I could give less then 1 star

Terrible customer service! These people are so rude they made a mistake and cant even fix there mistake without charging you more money. I feel taken advantage of thinking they can just charge me more when i signed up online and they assigned a already occupied unit to me and they want to charge me double and not fix there own problem . And for them to sit there and just keep telling me that I can just go online to get the rates I want. Spend your money elsewhere not with rude, unprofessional people that have no customer service !
DANGER DONT DO IT . The staff doesnt seem to care for the customer. A company that makes a mistake would take care of the customer and not leave them helpless . A friend of mine loaded up his truck got a unit went down to unload and was meet with lies, unprofessional rude people, and was treated poorly . Not only did they waste his time but gas money and much more . And it takes a lot for him be upset about anything . Companies like this must be know about .

Ive never storage unit here for over 4 years I have some love this place the managers wonderful people they have new owners did raise the rates a little bit but thats just par for the course its an older place but its very well taken care of I love it here I wont ever leave my storage and if I have to keep one item in there Im keeping my storage unit I love Rachel thank you

Great experience renting a 40x20 storage unit from these nice people. I needed a large space for short term. They were very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. Highly Recommend to anyone in need of storage.
Customer service was perfect. I received the grand tour of walking through two of the buildings and all seemed very safe and secure. I checked out multiple other storage complexs. This one blows away the other ones. Recommend it to everyone
Excellent facility (very secure), customer service is amazing! The staff is friendly and Im forgetful and when I missed my payment they worked with me to do anything to avoid auctioning my unit, and great price! I highly recommend to anyone!

Horrible service. My brother had a unit with them and his phone was shut off so instead of calling the back up phone # for 2.5 months which they know works because Ive spoke to them multiple times. they finally call on the day before the auction. I call them on the day of the auction and they said I called one hour too late and all his belongings are going out of state. So I tell them that I will be contacting an attorney about the situation.I call them back to see if my brother can at least get his identification that was in the storage and they said that I threatened them and that I can never call them again or go there and that if I call again they will call the police!!!! The guy was very confrontational and refused to tell me what the threat I made was! I only said I would contact an attorney. How is that a threat???!!! HOW RIDICULOUS!!!i say I want to consult with an attorney and suddenly thats me threatening them and cause for the police to be involved?Will never do business with these people again and will definitely make sure everyone I know stays away. I dont appreciate being treated like that for simply stating I want to consult an attorney. Horrible way to do business.

Definitely the people who answer the calls have no idea what they are talking about .. in the facilities they have absolutely no one who can answer a single question, the units have no light, they are super dark, it is a big problem to go up and down things without light to a second floor
