I have been working out at Golds Gym Tower Point for about three months. This is a great place to workout. The staff is friendly and the facility is well maintained. I tend to workout during less peak times and there is never a problem accessing machines. I saw several reviews that were critical of the facility and staff. I dont know if there has been a change in management, but I have not experienced any of the problems others have claimed. In comparison to other gyms, the membership is very affordable. I highly recommend Golds Gym Tower Point if you are looking for a great place to workout.

We signed up for a year with the stipulation of using Golds Gym with a kids club. We have 2 children and this is a MUST for us to be able to work out. Our personal trainer was awesome in the time we had him and really this is the one thing about this gym I will always have good memories of. We got a good 4 months of workouts in but then COVID-19 happened and weve not been able to come back safely. We appreciate having the ability to freeze our accounts for free but this is not a long term solution. The kids club has been closed with no future date to reopen, yet if we cancel now we get charged $100 fee per person, and if we continue using the gym (unfrozen), there is no kids club, so it wont work for us! This is very frustrating and I find it very unforgiving that there is absolutely no way for yall to waive ANY of the vast amount of fees (yearly, maintenance, cancellation, etc.) under these dire circumstances. Also, at this Tower Point location, we could not get help from the front desk people nor manager to help us in this situation. They basically said this is above my pay grade with their arms up. Service over the phone was also no help as they say its all written in our contract. We will not be using Golds Gym ever again thanks to their lack of customer response to the world pandemic.

***Update: Just called and was told the pool is now permanently closed. Here we go TruFitThe main reason I joined was to be able to swim in the lap pool for my exercise. However, its still closed! There is no covid reason why a pool that only accommodates 2 people (and maybe 2 in the hot pool) in a large space is to remain closed while everything else is open (classes etc).

Well, be aware that there are MANY people training unmasked and the Golds in not doing anything - lots of young students with masks on their chin thinking they are fooling everybody else. Also, MANY hand Sanitizer stations are empty and there is a very sparse set of disinfectant bottles in the gym. A few machines were broken as well.

Be very careful before you join this gym. The trainers and equipment are great, but the business model is a complete scam. I just received a $930 bill for 5 months of charges dating back to the beginning of the pandemic, including 8 x $20 for alleged declined credit card billings. I went personally into the gym to update my billing details and freeze my membership for months while I had a hip replacement. Nobody contacted me to let me know that they were charging me even while they were closed and nobody is answering the phone, either at the gym or at Golds Gym central billing.

Don’t waste your time, all the nice employees have left. Called at 1pm and spoke to someone that said we could come inside, got to the door and the lady told me they were closed. I let her know I had just spoke with someone that said we had made it on time and could come in and she told me “sorry we’re closed”. Those words were all she would say, repeatedly. We said we would like to cancel our membership now and she said “sorry we’re closed”. Coming from someone in customer service....just be nice and act like a human, not a robot.

My complaint is towards the Golds Gym brand and corporate company policy fees and not this direct location although; the individual who billed my account could have informed me when my payment did not go through for the month. For those of you who do not know, there is a fee of $20 when your payment does not go through, and they charged your account for the next month after cancellation of $32. In addition, I was also charged the annual fee of $52 on the second month of my membership. I was not planning on cancelling membership so soon but life happened and I had to move. Overall, I am simply informing others to be wary about companies like these who dont care about the community or have your best interest at heart. I wish I had reviewed some of this info before I signed. Go check out the reviews on BBB!

I highly encourage savvy consumers to go almost anywhere but Gold’s Gym. While the particular location I have utilized is fairly new and mostly clean, I have been ripped off for months now since trying to cancel my membership in March 2020. I have attempted online (as I was instructed during the gym’s closure due to COVID). I have spoken with them on the phone, and I have attempted to cancel my membership in person once the gym reopened. As of August 2020, I am still being charged monthly. It is unethical, unprofessional, and a great way to lose more customers. I had no contract- month by month basis only. If I had the time and money, I would get a lawyer, but it is not worth the headache that would surely ensue. Please be advised to not join the College Station Gold’s Gym on Arrington Road. You will certainly be nothing more than a number and a monthly fee to them. Try a different gym!

The gym was nice pre covid but customer service just went down hill since covid. One of the main reasons I join was for the pool but it’s closed due to covid. Golds would not work with you on a solution on membership because it’s just one amenities that is close and the rest is still open so you are still paying full price for partial gym access for who knows how much longer. Front desk person would not let you talk to a manager even when you stated you want to talk to one and there’s a manager there. This location is just a money hungry scam. They don’t care about you. Just your money.

Sat outside the gym for over 20 minutes after they were supposed to be open and the doors were still locked and nobody was answering the phone. I saw at least 5 people get fed up and just leave. If they changed their hours it should be updated but it’s not posted anywhere and there were a lot of people who showed up to workout when they were supposed to be open.

This gym (if not Golds in general) is a SCAM!! Today I was trying to pay what I owed and cancel my membership (in a non-obligation agreement). They take the money off my card then continue to tell me that it declined. I showed them proof that the money had been taken and then continued to tell me that “sometimes our system messes up”. You cannot take money and then proceed to tell me “we can’t cancel until that is payed of” but didn’t I just pay it? I’ve always heard that golds is notorious for scamming. I decided to give it a try especially because it was a non-obligation. Currently sitting in the parking lot until a manager comes in. If the manager cannot provide at a minimum documentation of my cancelation TODAY then I will be pressing charges for fraudulent practices. Let this be a final warning.

I gave them my phone number as part of the waiver necessary to take a tour of the gym. I deliberately unchecked all of the boxes that give them permission to use my email, etc...and this Saturday morning (my only day to sleep in) I was woken by an employee calling to try to convince me to join.Regardless of their facilities (which are quite nice), this kind of behavior is ridiculous.

BCS HealthCare Worker Experience with Cancellation and Management during a Pandemic. No Hero Treatment HereCurrently a Physician in B/CS treating COVID patients and athletes within the community. Have stayed away from Golds Gym since March to limit fomite/COVID exposure that I may be inadvertently spreading from daily patient contact to gym members or my family.I graciously requested for membership cancellation but Holly and Roy (Managers) cohesively decided that my situation was not good enough to avoid additional fees. Per their decision; my cancellation warrants 2 additional months of paid membership with unrestricted access to their equipment, members and staff until September. I re-iterated my situation regarding daily PATIENT CONTACT, HIGH RISK of exposure and management of patients within the community, but they seemed to find these as insignificant concerns for their gym or their members. They offered to briefly freeze my account and return at the START of Flu Season (Fall/Early Winter) when it will likely be more challenging to discern general viruses vs Influenza vs COVID. Sounds like a great plan to bring me back into the gym!To put it simply-It was NEVER a lack of a desire to workout. It is and continues to be my desire and duty to mitigate any contributions towards community spread...especially at Golds because of my line of work in the midst of a PANDEMIC! Super glad to know this is how they treat their Healthcare Workers in the Bryan/College Station community. Definitely NOT Feeling like a Hero! Will not be recommending this gym to the public or athletes and likely wont be going back.

Its a nice new gym, but the place is sort of a disorganized mess. They cancel popular group classes without notice. There is also not nearly enough squat racks / dead lift platforms for a gym with a membership of its size. There is a lot of space, so easily a couple more couple but put somewhere. Not sure why the pool was put in when it is so tiny.

Very nice gym. It is not a Planet Fittness, in fact the feeling is of a new gym. The equipment is nice but treadmills are hard on my knees, it would be nice to have a choice of a hard and a soft deck treadmill (Life Fitness soft deck works for me). Some things in this gym are only available in addition to the basic membership, this is confusing from a corporate perspective one would expect that all Golds gyms would be the same. Pool is nice and locker rooms are great. I like the separate stretch area, as well as the new Hoist machines. Overall very good gym, one missing star for lack of corporate consistency and lack of treadmill deck choices...

Very nice Gym poor management on the behalf of (Roy the manager) I was overcharged for training session that I didn’t receive they failed to refund me my money and gave me the excuse and run around they could not refund the credit card, but you definitely can do. Management also stated the only way I can get my refund for their mistake was to sign a new contract. They were trying to take advantage of me. I’ve been in management 18 years and this is a very poor service quality.Nothing but issues with billing! Manager is not good needs to not be in his position. Still have not been refunded my charge of $344, manager kept telling me 5-10 days which turned into a month and still was not resolved. I am now being charged late fee of $20. If Golds corporate cares they would reach out and resolve, next step going to KBTX!

This has been my first Golds membership, so I cant speak on any others. This one on Tower Point is VERY nice, and I enjoy working out here. They have a good variety of equipment and about 4 squat racks. Plenty of free weights and plates for the bench. HOWEVER, Im only giving it 4 stars because twice they have failed to open the doors at 5 AM, and both times it didnt open until close to 5:30. This was beyond frustrating. I spoke with the manager about it (as Im sure others did as well), and it hasnt happened since. I guess well see, but its a win to me overall.

Read your contract carefully and be mindful of when you cancel. I cancelled a membership on 5/11/18 and was billed on 5/15/18 for a month of a membership I will not be using. I was displeased with this but considering the short window between my draft date and cancellation date I understood. I received an email today (5/21/18) stating they will be billing me again on 6/15/18 because I waited until May to cancel. According to them that is how a cancellation is handled according to the terms of the contract. They have successfully squeezed another two months of membership dues from me after I submitted a cancellation notice stating that I would be moving to an area where no Golds Gym is present. So if you join a Golds Gym keep this in mind if you ever need to cancel a membership. This is a poor business practice that has spoiled the overall pleasant experience I had while at this gym.

Im a relatively new member, but have been going regularly since I joined. To put it simply the more you pay the more access you have to cool, fun, and helpful stuff at the gym like their studio sessions. And its worth it if you take advantage of it. I attended a GoldsCycle session and enjoyed it. I have the cheapest membership which just gives me basic access to nearly everything in the gym. I look forward to going every time. Its clean. They have a nice locker room. They have a sauna. They have a 2 lane pool. They have several types of high quality weight machines. They have at least 4 different kinds of elliptical machines. Everybody there pretty much minds their own business from what Ive seen. Im not very fit (trying to change that!) And I feel totally comfortable there. Its not intimidating at all.5 stars. I highly recommend Golds at Tower Point over other places like Planet Fitness. I like PF just fine, but I like Golds more.

I love golds gym specifically the one on Texas Ave but this one is absolutely horrible. Feels like a planet fitness and golds is definetly not supposed to be like that. They lock the rooms for spin and the class area when normally those are free to use when classes arent in session. They dont have the good freemotion treadmills all the other ones have and the square rubber tile flooring is horrible. If you dont care about lifting then this one is fine but if you lift at all I would highly recommend using the one on Texas.

The 2 stars are because the Tower Point gym is fairly nice. Theres plenty of equipment & its a clean evironment. Im a longtime Golds member, my primary home location is the Bryan gym, but Ill visit the Tower Point gym mainly for the pool. I sacrifice paying the expensive monthly membership fee because Im most comfortable with Golds. Im updating my previous review for the Tower Point gym because Ive seen a consistent pattern of trash customer service; with the exception of some nice & personable floor maintenance staff. I workout mainly in the late evenings, & everytime I enter the gym, the young lady at the front reception rarely lifts her head to greet. I recently called Tower Point to inquire about a free pass for my husband & they responded as though it was a hassle & kept saying that he could only attend 3 days & repeatedly explained the stipulations of the pass like Myself or My husband wouldnt understand. When I contacted my home Golds gym in Bryan, they didnt hesitate to give my husband a free pass for 7 days to visit any Golds location. I took my husband to the Tower Point gym to try out the lap pool & fitness equipment, in which he enjoyed the gym the first night, comfortably so, he considered membership. The 2nd night he visited the gym, the same young lady at the front reception walked up & turned the TVs off while my husband and I were still on the treadmills. My husband was actually watching a program as he was finishing his workout. We still had15-20 minutes before the gym closed. I felt that this was very rude & disrespectful treatment for a paying customer and a potential new customer. That new membership was lost after night 2. If I could offer one suggestion: Its important to treat EVERYONE with respect, as you never know if an undercover boss may be in your presence..
