I will never in my life book with them again. The rental I received was horrible it was a 2017 Ford fiesta. It was dirty, dog hair, spilled stains, and buttons missing. I asked to be accommodate and they keep offering me a coupon. I think telling them I don’t want a coupon if i never want to book with you again. Apply the coupon to this rental service now. They never once told me I had to go on website and say the rental was not clean. I wish I could give them no stars. How is my car that I have a home better than the rental I’m paying for. I’m still wanting on a manger to call me. I have pictures and everything about this car. I went out of town and basically drove a busted vehicle very disappointed.

Very, very poor services! Was double charged. Prepaid for car in Orlando, waiting 2 hours and 54 minutes to pick up car. Charged me again for the car, called customer services and customer services couldnt answer any of my questions! Was to get a call from a manager within 48 hours, NOTHING!! DO NOT RENT FROM THRIFTY!! Horrible, horrible, just absolutely horrible!!!!
Do not ever rent from thrifty. They are hands down one of the the worst experiences you’ll have in your life. My boyfriend rented from them twice in 6 months and BOTH cars blew a flat tire requiring HOURS added on to trips and safety concerns where the tires both blew on fast highways. Twice. They do not take care of their cars clearly because it is not random chance that that happened twice. To top it off they have a blatant disregard for human life and their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Will not be renting from them ever again and I will be sure to dissuade anyone I come across from doing so either.
If I could give Negative -5 stars I would!! The worst car rental place ever! They will drain your bank account and not care and then say you signed a contract for them to do so!! They are the worst!!! Do not do it Im warning you! They add on extra charges and fees that are literally over 100$. Thrifty Car Rental i will never rent from you people you guys are charging me 400 for a smoking fee which i didnt even smoke because i dont smoke !! We were on a family vacation i paid everything that i had to pay and now you guys charge me 400 dollars out of my bank which was my rent money !!!!! Worst car rental company ever! Up charged everything and will not refund. Do not use! Reserved a car for our trip and upon arrival they upgraded us because they did not have the original vehicle, exciting right? Wrong! After returning the vehicle they charged us for an upgrade fee and also charged us for insurance and gas fees that we declined. Customer service was extremely rude and will not supply “signed” contract. Use a different company! #dontusethrifty #thriftyisterrible
HORRIBLE customer service. Rented a car at the Cleveland Airport location just to find out upon my arrival that this Thrifty location closes at 5pm. So all 9 groups who had reservations were forced to rent cars from the other rental car agencies who were still open. And now Thrifty is refusing to refund our reservation. GARBAGE. Will never again rent from them and will absolutely be disputing these charges with my credit card company.
My fiance and I dropped off our car here, and he has crutches due to a broken leg. The lot attendants offered to have an employee drive us in the car we rented to the airport so it was easier with the crutches and so that I didnt have to finagle with all of our luggage on my own. It was so greatly appreciated and a very nice service!

I usually book with a larger major rental company because I belong to their rewards program. However on this trip the Big Guy was so over the top expensive, I had to look for an alternative and Thrifty had a very attractive rate ( although the rate isnt my only criteria for selection) . So I booked with Thrifty. When I arrived I went to the counter and was politely directed to their Blue Chip members area. Just a short distance. When I arrived I was met by a Very nice and friendly representative . She handed me the paperwork and escorted me to my vehicle ( 10 Yards away). The care was over the top nice, clean and well appointed. I put my bags in the trunk and I was on my way. The whole experience from the time I walked in the Car Rental terminal to the time I was out of the parking lot and on the road was under 10 minutes. The return was just as easy and nice. The car was checked in and I was handed my receipt before i could get my bags out of the trunk. Very well organized with the customer in mind. Hats off to Thrifty for a quality experience!!!

My husband and I rented a mid size suv from Thrifty this past weekend and were completely satisfied with everything from the very pleasant and helpful desk agent to our extremely easy return. Even the shuttle drivers were great! The AAA rate was awesome and the Mitsubishi Outlander was excellent and immaculate! Go for it... you will not be disappointed!
Actually Dollar though they seemed to be together. Dropped off a day early and found out there is a $25 charge if you check a car in more than 24 hours before scheduled. Staff was very helpful, explaining the charge and holding the checkout long enough to save me the extra charge, which makes it more likely I would use them again. Ended up paying $36 for 1 day and 1 hour for a compact car - Ford Fiesta. Cleveland Hopkins location.
Awful, awful service. Didn’t even leave with the car. Made a reservation 2 months ago and got a confirmation email stating to pick it up tonight at 7 pm. When we got there the lady told us she was unable to rent it to us and refused to say why. She gave a fictitious number to call and couldn’t care less about our rental and satisfaction. We finally googled the thrifty company phone number and the lady gave us ANOTHER NUMBER TO CALL. The number was for the corporate office, which was closed. We ended up renting a better car at a lower price from Enterprise last minute with no problems. Enterprise has wonderful customer service and will be getting our business from now on. We got home and called customer service at Thrifty. After explaining the situation, the person hung up on us. Thrifty is a sad excuse for a company. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.
OK so where do I start? I came to Ohio to see my children and to get them back. I bought and paid for this car from thrifty two weeks ago I contacted thrifty on 27 June to make sure everything was good and that I was OK to use my bank card and two forms of ID instead of having that credit check and they said yes. I get there 28th of June at 11 o’clock at night I have my one year-old baby with me She had been up since 4 o’clock in the morning. They approved me for the car got all of my information got everything ready to go and then did the credit check and said that I couldn’t get the car even though it was already paid for she had me swipe my bank card again mind you it is a Visa bank cards she had been up since 4 o’clock in the morning. Fast Friendly and Fair. they did not have the car I reserved so I got a free upgrade. It was easy to find the return area and took minutes to finish the return. Iwas out of there and to the airport gate in a flash.
I was charged an extra day, after being told by the sales clerk that there was a 30 minute grace period. $260 for a ONE day car rental! Once I disputed it, I was told that I would receive a partial refund in 5-7 days. That NEVER happened! Worse customer service in the world! Will never use Thrifty anywhere in the world again!
Arrived from Boston for a graduation. We reserved months in advance and were going to be in town for only 1 day. Thrifty told us that they had “run out of cars” and we could wait for a car to be returned. When I asked how long of a wait we could expect, the agent said “I really don’t know, we can’t predict when people are going to return the cars” ????? How can you run a car rental company if you can’t predict with some reliability the supply of cars you will have on hand at any given time????? If it’s graduation weekend you can anticipate that you will need extra cars. Reservations should come first.
Worst rental experience Ive ever had I highly recommend choosing another rental company. The lady they had at the desk was trashy and swore at me several times then had the never to question my parenting when I yelled back at her. She then refused to grant my AAA discount after there website clearly states they offer this. I finally sucked it up and paid the full amount because I was running late. I got the car and it smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and had trash under the seats and in the back of the seats.
I made a reservation for a car at savannah airport. When I went to pick it up the girl wouldnt let me use my credit card and said if they did they would have to charge me $27 extra a day and $100 deposit. I called the phone # and they made me book another reservation. When I went back in the girl wasnt there. The guy behind the counter told me they could of took my credit card and I didnt need to make a new reservation. I made the reservation for a $135 for 4 days and when I got to my hotel and looked at the paper they charged me for a week and $279. Ive called and left message after message and no one will return my phone call or they put me on hold and leave me there. Its the worst experience I ever had and they are a complete RIP off. I will never use them again. Not worth the hassle. Hertz is the best.
I was able to get a car with only a few hours heads up. Very very affordable. Unlimited miles. And received no fines despite a pretty messy vehicle. First time renting and Im optimistic to do it again.
The representative that helped me was wonderful!!! She offered suggestions when my bank card kept declining the transaction. As I kept getting more & more frustrated she kept reassuring me that it would all work out and to call the bank. Sure enough, it was the bank not Thrifty. Thrifty was great and check in & out was superb was as easy as it gets. 5 stars all the way!!!
My son work in the car rental business and he told me the reason why car rental companies prefer a credit card over a debit card is because its easier for them to rip the customer off with extra fees and that employees get bonuses when they do this. If using your credit card and you are charged extra...immediately dispute it with your cc company and get money back. Thrifty and Dollar Car Rental is notorious for doing that to their customers.
I returned my car after using it for two days and upon return it seems my vehicle was never checked out. They were more than generous and adjusted my bill without any regard for my input. I was more than willing to pay the amount due, but they seemed to think otherwise and I am great full for their decision. Great Job Thrifty!!
Awful and horrible experience. Scam you out of money. I rented a vehicle for 1 week and I call on the day that I was supposed to bring back the car to extend the rental agreement and I was told that they could not extend it because the black dodge charger needed to come in for maintenance. I explained to the service agent that I would be leaving back out of town and would have to post pone my trip to bring the vehicle back. Nevertheless on that evening I took the vehicle back in just to find out that there were no more cars for us to switch to. I was told by an agent who worked there to just keep the car and to bring it back when we get back and to also call the manager Ray Mac and speak with him about the issue and that if I should only have an additional 16.00 dollar total increase in my total cost. The next morning I called the manager Ray Mac only to get a lady who said that she would give him a message and have him call me back when I explained to her that I was calling to ensure that everyone was on the same page and to find out what she could do to make this issue right she responded with there is nothing she could do. I waited for the return call but no response. I took my trip and came back. When I returned to reach out to Ray Mac again I was greeted by a male on the phone who informed me that I was being charged a additional 16.00 dollars a day. I explained to him the whole round of what was going on and his response was that there was nothing he could do and told me that I needed to bring the car in and hung up on me in my face. When I tried to call back there phone line kept ringing fast busy which left with no results. Luckily I recorded the call and will be reaching out to my bank and disputing and charges from thrifty, but I definitely wouldnt recommend there services to anyone if you can avoid them I would recommend that you do so. When I called customer service it is some women or male with a hard Indian accent so you can barely understand what they are saying and they act like they cant understand you either. They offer no solutions just very bad service.
The Staff at Cleveland, OH 44135 airport locaton is very friendly and very helpful. Special thanks to Emily and Kate, they went out of there way to help us locate the item that we lost and they also drove us to the airport free of charge instead of us taking the shuttle as we were running late. I recommend them strongly.
I was never treated so poorly by any other person in my entire life than I was treated with Audrey when I came to pick the car up. The whole company is confused on what type of car you get and they always try to throw in shady fees and pressure you to buy extra things. They have the most strict policy among all rental agencies. They are joined with Hertz and dollar so I would not recommend them either. If they want to stay in buisness they will have to lay off Audrey. I was very professional. She then also gave my mother an attitude even though she was being professional as well. I will be filing a complaint with this company. I recommend any other company besides this one. If you dont want to be treated terribly go somewhere else. They didnt even give me the car i payed for.

This rental has to do with a serious family matter, there was some snags, we didnt think would work out but ; The workers, did What they could to correct the snag. ( there are a couple of people taking, their job a little too.....personal ! ( Which tends to make you uncomfortable) I almost went to the next counter) another Car RentalCompany . My wife and son spent 3 hours trying to secure a rental from this place - they have no customer service!First we were told we could use a debit card and when they couldnt verify/validate my wife for using debit, they suggested a credit card. After transferring funds to cover the balance of our rental, and waiting in line again! She was told it was a $350 dollar hold, not the balance of the rental (unless you use a Visa - then there is no additional fee).If the rep would have told us the requirements, the car could have been picked up in 30 minutes - instead my wife had to wait through a long line 3 times. And on top of that we had to make multiple calls to the bank and credit card companies.Thank you Thrifty for wasting our time!
At first I was very upset with Thrifty. We reserved a car rental in New Orleans with a specific time to pick up and found that no cars were available because they had sent some of their fleet to Texas and Florida because of the storms. The only transportation we could get for our destination was limo service that was very expensive. When I wrote to Thrifty and told them how disappointed I was in their service. They made it right by re-reimbursing me the limo fare we had to pay. I will definitely book with them again the next time I need a rental car.

Be VERY careful with Thrifty. Took an on-line deal for a mystery car that was represented as a 5-passenger auto. It was in line with other deals out of the same airport. When I got to the desk, and presented the receipt for the deal, the guy behind the desk glanced at it. Told me I had rented a compact. I was too tired to argue. It just meant that I spent almost 8 hours driving in a car that hurt my backside.And then I was asked if I wanted full insurance or just the basic. Since it has been awhile since I rented a car, I had been used to either insurance or no insurance. I said, just the basic assuming that my personal insurance was all I needed. Should have checked the receipt more carefully before I paid, but like I said, I was exhausted.Then I asked for a GPS, because I had a bad experience getting a car back to the car rental return place the last time I traveled. I was given something that doubled as a phone and tablet -- like I needed that. The thing kept shuffling over to phone mode when I desperately needed it to stay in GPS mode driving around one of the USs most maddening cities. On top of that the rental car return button took me to the wrong building at the airport. Fortunately the airports signage got me back to the right place. All in all, I paid almost as much for 36 hours of car rental as I paid for my first car.My fault. Let the buyer beware. It is just too bad that car rental places operate like that.
Junk car smelled like cigarettes and a gallon of Fabreeze. Waited in line forever to get the thing. Great deal was wiped out by fees buried in the fine print of all the documents Spirit airlines presented me with. Plus one star because I cant determine whos fault the hidden fees were, Spirit or Thrifty.
Worse place to get rental car.They have charged us for extra driver and did not even add him as a official driver.We returned the car half empty and they charged us $9.90/gallon.They do not have any escalation hierarchy and they blindly refuse to cooperate with any queries.These companies often give good offers online and cheat customer by charging heavily.

Terrible experience. They offer you one price online, then sock you with a whole bunch of hidden fees. We were charged $91 extra because we added a 2nd driver to the car, and that was never explained but hidden in the terms and conditions. They also use threatening tactics to try to bully you into buying the extra insurance, gas upfront, you name it. The mid-size SUV we got wasnt that clean, and we had a hassle trying to get it off the rental lot because the customer service representative didnt write that we were getting a mid size SUV on the outside of the rental agreement. They should be called Shifty instead of Thrifty

This was a time when I rented an econo box for 1 day and I was delighted with the Mazda 3 I was able to pick. The rate was a grand bargain, the car was in great shape, and the check out and return processes were handled seamlessly with no fuss!

Once I got through reading the ten pages of fine print regarding the terrible things that will happen to you if things go wrong things went well. No nicks, scratches, dents or worse. And surprise to the car checker when it was returned with the gas tank was full and she wasnt able to charge the $10 per gallon on their pump. All in all this was a good rental. I didnt buy their extra coverage for non insurance protection (which would have silently cost just about as much as the rental price itself).All in all a good experience but not without some anxiety regarding the negative financial pummeling that could happen if there had been a scratch.
The worst experience I ever had. A nightmare for my vacation!! They offered me one price online, but I found out they charged me a whole bunch of hidden fees until I got my bank statement. We were charged $143 extra because we added a 2nd driver to the car, and that we were told no additional charge! but hidden in the terms and conditions. I said NO when they offered me to buying the extra insurance, still I found out I have to pay extra $153 for the trip. Original price: $373. Final billing: $711. A total of $296 hidden fee. Congratulation Thrifty. I would give them a negative star if I can. Never rend a car from this Co. !!!!

I would have given Thrifty a higher rating because of the friendly and patient reservation counter person. However there was only one person working for both Thrifty and Dollar rental car and we spent about 45 minutes on line.

BEWARE!!!! If I could give less than a one star I would!! I prepaid online for a car (and insurance) for my son visiting a grad school in Colorado. He has never gotten a rental car before. When he got to the counter, they not only charged him an underage fee of $28/day, they told him he had to get 2 different insurances for $28.49/day and $18.95/day. My $199.00 online prepaid deal now has cost me $600 for a four day rental car. ABSURD!!! Do Not Trust the online deal. Very disappointed in this kind of business.
I will NEVER rent from Thrifty/Dollar/Hertz EVER again. Customer service is AWFUL!! The last 3 times Ive rented and being a Blue Chip member, my car was not ready when I arrived in Cleveland. Additionally, I was charged a $25 early return fee (1 day), despite never being informed about this upfront...and when I called to inquire about the charge, I was told that we dont need to tell you ahead of time...we can change the agreement or policy at anytime.... Not even a one time consideration for a Blue Chip member...just thats the actual rules...Im sorry.
I rent cars multiple times per year and this location is, hands down, the absolute WORST place that Ive ever had to deal with. Their cars have mechanical issues, were dirty and smelled so strongly of Febreeze it was nauseating. When I went to exchange a car with a dying transmission, they gave me a car that WREAKED. When I refused it and asked for another, the manager, Ray, got rude and was completely unhelpful. I will NEVER use Thrifty again because these people dont know how to maintain their vehicles and have the most sorry excuse for customer service that Ive ever witnessed. PAY A LITTLE MORE AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!!

RIP-OFF ALERT....Complete SCAM. Did a Pre-Paid rental, than was charged EXTRA at time of rental. Got a bunch of mumbo-jumbo about extra fees and taxes that were not disclosed during Pre-Paid payment. Rep on the phone actually said, You pre-paid for the rental but not all of the rental What kind of BS is that? How do you tell a customer charge is X than charge them Y when they pick up the car. Thrifty car rental in Cleveland Hopkins Airport is a RIP OFF!!!!...charged me 300.00 for smoking in the car!!! I DID NOT SMOKE IN THAT CAR!! I got the car and it had a gallon of FA-BREEZE in it, couldnt even breath for it. Then they want to bill me for smoking in the car!! All I got was a run around between billing and so called supervisors about how they can do nothing until a higher supervisor comes in at NOON! Wish I had a job where I didnt work unit noon! So I called after I made my reservation and also asked when I picked up the car if I could do a cash and card payment. Was told yes, do it when you turn it in. Go to turn it in and was told no I cannot do that. That is not the main issue, the issue is, make sure your staff know what the heck they are talking about, and when I asked upon turn it, the staff were very rude about it. So, no more Thrifty for me.
