This is one of the best organizations for the homeless in the US. They not only give you a place to sleep, feed well, and treat you with respect. They go out of their way to make a person feel like theres hope for the future. I would recommend people needing help to go there and people that can donate to help. As a Veteran they really show how grateful they are for our service. Their staff will do all they can to help.
They do good work in the community. I donated some things. The actual services side needs flip flops, towels and pillows
Please hire more knowledgeable staff. They have no knowledge of local programs that help with different problems. What a joke. I asked a specific question and the lady said “our shelter is full” I didn’t ask about shelter. But thanks for nothing.
Same old their difinetly not giving any direction to get off the streets lady was rude and defensive.....basically Pinellas county homeless foundations are all scans been trying to get direction on how 2 disabled very sick people can get help they all say 211 my roommate is literally going to die on Pinellas county streets has lab result saying death.....we have a animal thats our kid we need help severe case of being ran around by all these supposed help the homeless programs........very disappointed 7 months of holy hell out here....2 non drinkers or drugs....kiss my as all of u..
If youre serious about getting off the street and making positive decisions that will change the way you live for your future, then this is a great step in the right direction.
Need help working mornings and afternoons but cant keep giving all my money to hotels keep calling around they all say there full and a shelter no good cause of work hours suggestions have looked from renting rooms staying at a hotel but wasting money on that
As a resident of the program I find HEP offers a good launching pad for staying focused on making the changes that matter. Case managers, wellness staff and others can only help those who are taking steps to help themselves. If you dont care and lack responsibility & respect, you cant expect it from others. The quality of your life depends on you, on your thinking & your actions. It is a team effort and your attitude can definitely make your stay a positive or negative one. And if youre willing to change your habits and move forward, theyre here to help.It only works if you work it! You can get ahead if you actively participate in your program. If youre serious about what youre working towards, your progress will be evident.
HEP is the very best kind of shelter. They offer services to Veterans and other homeless people and help them to help themselves. They offer housing for people who have an active plan to get on their feet. The excellence these social workers embody cannot be topped. The residents of the HEP program receive 3 daily meals, access to fax and copy machines through their assigned SW, dental, medical, and bus fares. There are too many aspects to list. I cannot say enough good things about this place. 5 *s
Ive had the pleasure of touring the facility and volunteering in the kitchen. This is an A-1 first class facility providing a much needed service for those who have served our country! Thank you for your heart for veterans and for doing something about it!
HEP is a fantastic program! I work for Solace Insurance and we have been involved several times, volunteering and helping out. Keep up the good work!!
Very helpful, kind people and personal. Willing to help those less fortunate, never making you feel bad about yourself. Makes me leave with a positive attitude and feeling. Thank you 😊
I started here for 45 days and some of the nicest people Ive ever met..I was there last November. The chefs r incredible so the food was great. I just cant say enough great things..They r the greatest.
Interviewed for a job with them but they never notified me of my status or called me back like they said they would. Glad they didnt because this is very unprofessional to leave people hanging. It sheds a light on the culture of the workplace there.
Nice and friendly staff.
Absolutely terrible
1 yr ago me and my 10 yr old was homeless. hep and their employees went out of their way to help us. we are now in a nice safe apartment. I was hopeless and deterred. they gave me hope and with a little time we are now self sufficient. I thank all the staff for caring. I mean it. so people just dont realize how one can become depressed and sad. thank you guys for giving us hope
I am really impressed with the assistance available for the homeless community. I really enjoyed volunteering.
Great help for those of us in need. I had been there as a homeless veteran for 8 months and left in August 2018 and its a nice place to get back on your feet. Im now back in California with my son.
If you’re in need of rebuilding your life and need a safe place to stay this is your place. Wonderful staff and the opportunities to take back control of your life and stay on a positive track. I’ve seen people do more with their life in 2 weeks than they had in 10 years because of the help and encouragement of HEP.
I am trying to get into the hep 30 day program. What is the turnover rate?Im using the bus for transportation and also day labor and basic resources so would I be able to get in or would I have to be on site when I call at 8:30 so I can be there to take the opening?
Excellent staff, very helpful. They helped me get to where I am today. Thanks HEP!! 💕💕They give you 30 days to help yourself but they also give you another 30 days depending on your situation. I was given 2 months total & that was extra helpful. Thanks to their help over 2 yrs ago, I now own a home and great car 😁
This is definitely one of the largest thrift stores in the area. They have a pretty good variety. Prices for Bric-a-brac and furniture are very reasonable though furniture quality is maybe slightly below average for a thrift store in the area. Clothing is above average compared to other thrift stores around. The one complaint I have is pricing for clothing. First there are no prices on the clothes and no sign on the racks indicating prices. They also dont seem to have discount days though on all three of my only visits I went on a Monday. The first visit I found a nice long sleeve mens shirt. I bought it because I liked it and the price was a reasonable $5. On my third visit I found a similarly nice long sleeve mens shirt as well as a nice T-shirt. Remember, there are no marked prices on the clothing. The price of the long sleeve shirt was $10. The T-shirt was $4. They said the reason for the high price was it was a name brand shirt. I have been buying my own clothes since 1977. I dont ever remember ever seeing any shirt anywhere that didnt have some sort of a brand name on it. Even Walmart has brands. The shirt I bought weeks earlier had a brand name on it. I had never heard the name but it certainly wasnt a luxury name. As for the T-shirt, the quality and condition was good but not brand new. The reason I got to thrift stores is to save money over what I would normally pay at a retail place not to pay about the same. I have since been to Walmart and found brand new never worn T-shirts for less than $4 each and found a nicer brand new long sleeve shirt for $12. Yesterday I found two really nice long sleeve shirts at the Salvation Army thrift store priced at $6.99 each. It was half price senior day so I got them for $3.50 each. I also bought several T-shirts marked $1.99 and got them for a dollar each. I mention this only as a point of comparison. I got the over all impression that HEP is attempting to get every possible cent for their clothing rather than trying to move the merchandise. There was only one other customer looking in the clothes rack that day whereas at the Salvation army store on the same day there were over two dozen customers and not all older like me. Normally Id have given this place three stars but the proceeds go to charity and they have enough bargains in the other departments to convince me to still rate this place 4 stars.
Hep a.k.a. homeless empowerment program is a highly orchestrated front for using as much government money and funding for each individual to put as much money as they can in their coffers. Simply put, you laying your head on their pillow is worth thousands of dollars to them, all funded by our government. I think hep lost itself years ago by actually really helping people, for starters, finding out what event/s led someone to be homeless would be a good start. It takes more than 30 days to become homeless and thus any person in their right mind would know it will take you more than 30 days to find permanent stability and foundation so you do not ever become homeless again. This is what this PLACE gives you, 30 days, they repeat that to you about 40 times in your first day of getting their, it has all come down to money with this organization. I saw countless people come from other shelters and after 30 days shipped right back to the shelter they came from, but hep made their money for their 30 day stay, all fleeced with tax payer money. This is hardly what I call empowering??? The first day I arrived I had one of their counselors practically yelling at me, repeated that I only had 30 days, and also telling me I was not going to be offered some programs like longer term transitional housing that other clients received, even though I worked and was qualified to receive and eligible to be enrolled in, but due to the blatant unlawful discrimination I was not even offered. I saw this with many clients I documented and made note of. Some with the same disability amounts were helped and some were overlooked on purpose, something I am sure HUD would not approve of. At the end of the day this is a highly orchestrated scheme to defraud people, ie: taxpayers, of huge sums of money, in which a place doesnt even address the basic problem that left an individual or family homeless in the first place. It is a yet another symptom of what is wrong with our society today, where a place like hep is in the business to make money off homeless and unfortunate people instead of genuinely actually caring and helping them. Shame on this place. Your simply another body who they profited from. Its FRAUD PLAIN AND SIMPLE
I WAS. VERY. BLESSED TO BE PLACED AT H.E.P. GOD IS. DOING MANY GREAT THINGS. IN MY LIFE TODAY..YES THE STREETS ARE NO PLACE I WANT. TO BE ..I PUT GOD FIRST. AND PRAY DAILY FOR HIS GUIDANCE...I DO KNOW THIS THE CASEMANAGERS WILL DO ALL THEY CAN FOR YOU.. IF THEY SEE YOU ARE TRYING TO GET YOUR KIFE TOGETHER. IM SOOO GRATEFUL TO. BE HERE
I love this place because of the idea behind this place. Volunteers and probationees (some are paid employees) who are striving to help others in need while helping themselves in the process. Godbless HEP & those they help.---But who does that secretary think she is? Her attitude alone should get her fired. She was unbelievably rude and isnt afraid to be cruel in her own entitled way. Ive seen her be mean to the homeless who are just looking for simple answers and receive no manners from the secretary. Its a shame, it puts a stain on their good reputation.
Awesome program for homeless people. Great program for homeless veterans. A credit to the community. I am proud to have once been associated with this organization! Sempre Fi!
Great little place that not only helps single people down on their luck but also families and veterans......the staff is dedicated to making a difference and so am I...thats is why I have this place a 5 star...because they are worth it.
Outstanding help in many many areas for the homeless. 10 stars in my book.
Very helpful, the help, contacts, support plus food .What a place,And they are working with schools and the city. They will be helping more people with Jobs and houseing. God bless all. What you put out towards goals comes back double in the long haul. Forward allways forward.🌄😊😊😉
Great ministry and service to the community. Residents feel like guests, not homeless people. Lots of good hearted people involved.
Advertised help and when called N/A
This is a FANTASTIC place to go if you need help. They not only help singles; veterans, males, women of all walks, they also help families. If you are accepted into their homeless program, they have medical help, dental help (particularly if you dont have medicaid or other insurance), as well as psychological, budgeting, and other kinds of financial need help.Yes, there are rules you need to follow, but they arent unreasonable, and if you are willing to work with the people who are your case managers and others there, they are more than willing to work with you. However, if there has been what can be construed as a miscommunication, then clear it up as soon as possible. If one is willing to swallow a bit of pride and suck things up, whatever has been misunderstood can be resolved to at least a modicum of satisfaction for both parties.I really do highly recommend this place . . . especially if you have nowhere else to go, because they will do their best to help you if indeed they can.
Very clean facility that help, house, and reach out to the homeless and helpless. Case Managers Sonja Maxi and Dana Slaughter are the best. These women truly care for the population they serve! Its a pleasure to work with this agency to end homelessness and restore hope to our communities.
Food, they help vets, all types of services, always looking for volunteers, Bible study, great people, presidents have walked there Hall, a church
Great homeless outreach program. We volunteer here as a family and we enjoy the atmosphere.
H.E.P. is a God send to the community. Absolutely dedicated to helping those in need. The staff give themselves to the program. They are incredible people.
Amazing place. Give tons of help to homeless
I’m going over there tomorrow to get a place to stay and hopefully they can get me a job.I’m not really sure from reading some of the negative reviews but I hope they’re as good as they say they are.
Temporarily closed to the public 😷
Easy to make donations, with bay door and helpers to unload your items. Tax deductible receipt given at the end. Staff was very helpful.
I volunteer here cleaning teeth and sometimes serving meals. Such a well-run place doing so much good for so many wonderful people who deserve the best when they need it the most.
This place is fantastic its working with women men and veterans finding temporary housing Solutions and the staff is kind considerate and very helpful
Ive called this place and gone there over a dozen times and they will never help. My fiance is disabled for 16 years and weve only gotten help from an agency one time. WHY advertise to help if you wont.
A charity work for the homeless. A Veterans org. Impressive Service
Im so thankful for HEP! Their thrift store is my Macys, plus the programs they have helps so many people and families. I pray that people who are very well off donate money to this program to help people who are suffering in every way you can imagine.
Good people, cant say enough nice things to say .Gloria the staff and kitchen workers and volunteers .wonderful .Thank You for helping me and others. And the Pastor
They do a great job there and feed you good too.
Bless this place, and all that have come through it. Like me.
This organization is very important part of Clearwater. It provides an opportunity for displaced individuals to get on the right direction in their lives, and provides critical services not available to them while homeless. HEP is the only Organization working in the front lines helping veterans .
My sister is homeless, went there for help, thinking they would help with shelter, and possibly job training, to get her on her feet, so she could become independent once again, and she was turned down. They just looked at her, with tears in her eyes and said the only way she could get in there, is if she happened to be found wondering around the streets.
My son received help at this programIm grateful to them.
Homeless Exploitation Project HEP = HEPocrites PLEASE! Soooo many SCAM reviews by people who, based on their other reviews, have never been homeless in their lives. Ive got plenty of photos and videos of *life* at HEP--smoke-filled apartment, exploding eggs and TV on full blast at 3 AM. Thanks HEP for your help with my PTSD. LOL!Read Jeffry Goods review--you can fool some of the people some of the time HEP--Jeffery and I are not fools. Some of these glowing reviews are totally suspect. Look at the other things these people have reviewed--mostly volunteers, donors and friends of the regime Look at the nicest building. Is it for the people they are supposed to serve, or for themselves? The Copper Building is not to house the homeless, thats for sure. This is nothing more or less than a little fiefdom for the likes of Barbara Green, Zachary White and Lauren DeLisi. When I was there Lauren DeLisi (Case Manager) and Zachary White (Top Administrator) forced people to attend a weekly course on Anger Management. Several of us were victims of violence, not perpetrators. I had severe PTSD as a result of years of domestic abuse and violence. Why would Lauren DeLisi and Zachary White psychologically harm those who they say they are there to help by forcing victims to take classes as though they were perpetrators of a crime? The courses that we were forced to take were run by a Clearwater group called Ex-Offender, none other than Zachary Whites former employer. In other words, this was nothing more than a kick-back scheme through contracts to help out Zacharys buddies at Ex-Offender. (Think about how crazy it is to put victims of crime into programs run by an ex-offender program as though we were the criminals.)Forcing people to take courses is an outright violation of HUD guidelines for receiving supportive housing funds and psychologically abusive.Next on my list is they gave me a roommate (again I had severe PTSD) who used crack, meth and opiates. He kept the TV on 24-7-365 and pooped all over the bathroom and didnt clean it up. Hed start cooking in the middle of the night, then leave the apartment--Id wake up to a smoke-filled apartment. Did the smoke detectors work? Nope! Did they do anything about any of these problems? Nope!We would all get UAs to be tested for drugs but when it came to my roommate he would say he ...couldnt pee... and they wouldnt do anything to him. LOL!They had another program through a federal grant that was supposed to help us but it was nothing but coercion. I went to contact the program manager, Gustavo Martinez, DSW and I found out that his Texas social work license had been revoked and that he was being questioned by the FBI. Of course when I reported this to the people at HEP they were not happy with me.BTW SAMHSA didnt extend the HEP grant--maybe the interview I gave to the FBI had something to do with it. LOL!What happened after I left HEP and moved to another state thanks to a friend? I received real help for my PTSD and fully recovered. I now work in the global security division of a major U.S. Company. If I would have stayed at HEP my PTSD would have continued to get worse and I would have ended-up disabled for life.HEP--some people have no morality--exploiting the homeless for their personal gain. Disgusting!RESPONSE FROM OWNER--File a complaint? Its telling that you didnt address a single specific issue that was raised--because you cant.PS: Its not luck that people need in their endeavors from HEP--its best practices help and empowerment, not funds going to the administration building and to kick-back grant money. Get real!
Helps you get back on your feet had many programs from shelter to transitional housing for individuals and families had a thrift store on site Janova was my saving grace at many times shes wonderful along with Gloria who helped me get into transitional housing for 2 years
I wish I could say no stars!! I have been in my apartment for almost 3 years and it was sold and my family and I had 30 days to get out I work full time and went and asked for help wit a deposit and they told me I made to much. Well thanks to u now my family and I are homeless. Good job hep!!!!!
Great place if homeless and got a job they will help alot if ypur willing to help yourself to a clean and sober life
We have so many homeless and hungry people in our community. all my publix bogos get dropped off here or at RCS
Great place. Gloria and staff were very caring
This is the place where you can find the best food and a good nights sleep the programs that they offer are really good but you have to work the programs if you want be successful in society.
I have been delivering donated bread from Publix to this facility for over 8 years now and they have continued to improve their buildings and programs over the years, always striving to feed and support those in need.
Wonderful place, helping people get back on their feet. They also provide medical and dental for their clients?!!
So much supporrt and oppurtinty here for people who have hit a rough time and life and need some recources to better there situation. Has a gre at thrift store for most of your needs, and always grateful for the donations. The staff and vounteers are all here for the right reasons and give you the same commitment and dedication you put in. I have been able to move my 5 year old son and i into an apartment for 7 months now since i was evicted and moved into HEP homeless shelter a year and a half ago. I have had support from the HEP family every step of the way.
I lived at HEP in 2004-2005 and it has grown tremendously since then, but the commitment to help individuals experiencing homelessness has never waned. I return as a volunteer with my therapy dog in 2010 and now am Wellness Program Manager there.
Really only seems effective if your a veteran, but a GREAT PLACE to get on your feet again, if youre serious about it, that is.
Great things going on here!
Very nice shelter and by far the cleanest one in Pinellas County. The food is good but only Improvement would be a different everyday instead of continental breakfast. They provided a voucher to help ppl get back on their feet. Just ask for the voucher right away or they will give it you it 1 week before you have to leave. My wife is pregant and the nurse at HEP wouldnt give my wife prenatal vitimins which was free and the nurse said she needed a rx. Very disappointed with some ppl that work there
A great place for vets and family and HOMELESS people to
Kind and helpful people, God bless them for their service to the homeless.
Much better than alternatives and staff is nice and helpful.
Would LOVE to go back..but mainly for veterans ..God Bless them
They do a great job for people in need, and all the people are so appreciative.
Helping Veterans! Thank you.
They helped me when I needed it!! The employees are good and made some good friends.
They are very helpful this is the only place I would recommend someone to go to for help

Beautiful! Looks like they really care!
Best shelter in Pinellas co.
The food alone is worth the stay. But keep in mind that it is a homeless shelter.
Amazed by all they do to help the homeless
THEY HELP WHO THEY WANT TO HELP. MINUS 1000 STARS
Best place for homeless veterans
Good food and nice employees.
Doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves.
Helping homeless get stable
Good luck getting in....
I was treated very well, here. And i made the mistake of returning west for a, hoped for, relationship.
