A friend had her oil changed in her Dodge a week ago. Today I noticed an oil puddle under her car. I found that oil drain plug was stripped and had blue sealant on it from technician. Thankfully it didnt come out completely and lose all oil. Tried calling the manager on her behalf today and kept being put in automated phone loop. Shes a teacher assistant and in a leg cast so has a lot on her plate so I dont know if shell complain, so Im complaining for her.
Had an awesome experience with Pep Boys. My Toyota truck needed a new rack pinion installed and they had my truck back to me ahead of schedule. All the employees were very professional, nice, and took the time to answer any questions I had. I will definitely be coming back for all my automotive needs! Its rare to find good customer service these days.
Had a great experience at the Pep Boys Location in Clayton, NC. I had a blow-out and was leaving to return to TN. On Sunday afternoon, I went to Pep Boys to find that there were 40, yes 40 appointments ahead of me. The owner/manager offered to mount and balance a new tire on my rim so I could install it myself; not an issue since I can change a tire. It was so helpful to me. He didnt have to offer that, but Im grateful that he did. Because of his care for his customers and potential customers, he and his staff found a way to help me. Thank you Pep Boys! Would definitely return if Im ever in need of tires and in the area!

Walkin service looking for tires. Did online search first to insure had what I was looking for. Spent 2 hrs waiting for service to be finished. They were done sooner than estimated. Was able to watch work in progress and ask questions of certain procedures with explanation provided. Very professional technicians.

Excellent service all way around. Took my car in with check engine light on. They quickly diagnosed my problem and determined I needed a purge valve. Completed maintenance quickly & efficiently. This will b my “go to” car maintenance shop. They are busy so don’t go in expecting immediate service but you will receive excellent maintenance on your car. Highly recommend.
Staff have a good work ethic and are personable. They were understaffed at the time of my appointment and called to update me on the slower than usual progress; the staff are very straightforward and dont try to sell you unnecessary services.

I’ve used this Pepboys for years. I usually call to make an apt and drop my vehicle off. Never had any problem. I’ve popped in unannounced because I heard something and they have always worked me in without a fuss. They have gone out of their way more than once to fix my car. The manger is great and the techs are knowledgeable. Most importantly, I trust them!!
Had a 9AM appointment. First told me they didnt think they had the tires in stock. After 15 minutes they found them then I was told it would be a 2 to 3 hour wait because they were behind. They had one car in the bay and there mechanics standing around. They said they appointment only means you have a spot. Doesnt mean thats when they take you. Very very poor service.
I would NEVER recommend this location or anything with Pepboys! Corporate is almost worse than the service at this location. Went in for a radiator over a year ago and at their expense they had to replace my engine due to their mistake. They replaced it alright and after many visits back to check on issues with the replaced engine, after 1 year the replaced engine is dead. I never asked for a engine-I went in for a radiator. Now my daughters car has sat at that location for over 5 weeks, no estimates, no return calls from the manager, no return calls from the regional or corporate office. I am AMAZED a corporation operates this way and can’t even return my call when my car with no working engine occupies their space. They are 100% in the wrong and taking advantage of me as a woman, consumer, and someone with little knowledge of automobiles. Look at the BB for Pepboys website-they have a horrible reputation. Add in a horrible local management team that can’t keep their word. Well I would never recommend any Pepboys store and especially Clayton. There will be more to come for them-I will not roll over on their mistake

The RUDEST people I have ever been to when it comes to having my car serviced. They tried to take advantage of me and charge and arm and a leg for what was needed. The man at the front was very rude, dismissive and would not answer my questions directly. I went across the street to Just Tires who gave EXCEPTIONAL service and helped me right away. A fraction of the cost this place was going to charge. Do yourself a favor and go across the street to Just Tires! If there was an option for negative stars I would chose it. Unfortunately I have to chose 1 star due to being able to post this review.

Pep boys is the worst business I have ever interacted with and do not recommend whatsoever. I have never visited a location where the staff was friendly or helpful, and they don’t care if you make appointments. They do not value their customers and could car even less about their jobs. You can call and make an appointment, but when you show up they won’t have anyone there to do the job.
If I could give negative stars I would... Took vehicle in to get valve stem fixed. Got told I could not use the air at a gas station because the chuck is too big.. called customer service and got laughed at cause my problem won’t fixed. They also incorrectly service tpms sensors.
Saved $30 with coupon on an oil change and inspection. Yes you will likely have to wait but the service is very good and they are always very friendly.
So this used to be a great place. I guess there are new people now. If you do not want to work on something, just tell a person up front, rather than causing a week of down time for the customer. Maybe it was just I caught them at a bad time. My car had sit for several days (because according to the manager all the techs, save one, were off) and they said they would get it on a lift Monday and check it out. Well I went up that Sunday to get my garage door opener out of the car. I noticed the mud marks on the tires where it had rained and puddled where the vehicle was parked. Well Monday they called and said they looked at the vehicle on the lift and said I needed to take it to a body shop. I told them there had been no impact but the manager insisted I was incorrect. So I decided just to go get the car. Well when I got there the car was parked in the same place as Sunday with the same mud marks on the car in the same position! Why lie? Anyway, took the car somewhere else to get fixed and get tires. Maybe it was just a bad week, but I will never go back.

Ive tried to get service done here twice and it hasnt worked out both times. Each time I booked an appointment online and within an hour or so received a call saying that they dont have time despite the appointment being booked. Then you get an Email saying that you missed your appointment which I can only assume is so the store doesnt get hit for missing appointments. Most recently when I tried to make an appointment online I got that call and was asked to reschedule. I agreed and made an appointment for 2 weeks from then. On the day of I called to confirm the time of the appointment and was told I wasnt on the schedule but he could get me in at 3. This was fine since it was my day off anyway. I get there at 3 and tell them I have an appointment for 3 and was told Its not your day, man, which is just a real professional way to deal with the situation. I asked him what the point of making the reservation was and all he said was there is nothing on the sheet in front of him without offering any type of solution. Needless to say, I wont be attempting to do business with this place again.
This is by far the best car care business in the area. I lived in Clayton when this shop fist opened and the staff cant be any better. I didnt want to wait around and the manager drove me 5 miles home and was super nice about it.If you go to the shop ask for Gregory he will take good care of you and do you right. These guys dont rip you off and they bend over backwards to make you happy. We ended up moving to Raleigh and I still drive all the way to Clayton for service.They take care of all my vehicles1) Tesla Model S2) Jeep Wrangler3) Audi SQ54) Kia Soul (daughters)5) BMW (sons)Dont take your car anywhere else, this is the only shop Ill go to in the area period!

I would not do business with this location my appointment for 1230 was pushed back to 3 due to a late delivery of the tires I requested which is understandable. The associate I spoke with then told me they “should be able to get my tires changed by closing” They close at 7. I informed her that did not work for me due to time constraints on my transportation and would need the car back by 6. She snapped back at me that was not going to be likely. I told her I would take my business elsewhere.4 hours to change 4 tires?! Come on.

Had an appointment at 8:30 Saturday 12-12-2020. This got confirmed and booked. Then yesterday they ended up changing my time to 6pm and the guy I spoke to said well oh idk what happened but we can reschedule you when would you like and I named off Saturday which he said he was book full, then I said Sunday and he said it was booked full and then he goes what about Tuesday. I shouldn’t have to wait 5 days to get seen when I was suppose to be seen on Saturday. Unprofessional, this business shouldn’t be in business if that’s how they do their practices. I have the photos to prove it but they won’t let me up load them.
Tried to have balance on 2 loose wheels checked and was told it would take a day to do this. Really? Not thefthe time they cant accommodate simple service, but will not make the mistake of ever going there again. 0 stars if I could.

They did a good job but it took well over an hour and a half to get a set of tires installed. Other places I have been to can do it in less than 45 minutes. Prices are good and service was good, but its very slow. Would have been nice to have some free wifi and a tv if waiting so long.
Every time I try to schedule any service here it’s a hassle. Either they can’t do it or refuse to assist me. The lady suggested I change my own oil since I’m already able to did it because I was taught 20 years ago. I will never work with this pep boys again this makes a hassle 5 years in a row.

The staff are amazingly polite and deliberate in caring for the customer, and if the only thing they were being graded on was hospitality Id gladly give a 5. But Im not. This is an auto shop. They fixed my leaking rear tire- great! They brought to my attention that my brakes were shot- thank you! They failed to bring it to my attention that the front drive wheel they had to remove had a dangerous busted wheel bearing- oh dear. They went uninvited into my glovebox to retrieve a lug nut key that they failed to return- uh oh. When asked for it, they could not find it- oh boy. When they offered to replace it and took down my phone number (which they had already asked for and allegedly entered multiple times), they never got back to me and crushed my faith in the brand- done.You managed to make a terrible day feel a little brighter, but every day since has been like a toothache.
Second visit was better than the first, my car was left with grease on several places. The manager gived me a discount towards my next service which made me very happy
I went there for change and rotate tires and balance tires I had a air leak asked them to check it they founded a nail in two of my tires. I ask if they could fixed he said yes . Then they came back and said of them they couldnt the nailed was going side that it was leaking fast. He said I needed to replace the tire. I have Firestone tires on my truck .Now I have to buy a new tire cause if they couldnt fix they should have never said they could. I would at least had my tires set matching now Im using my spare. I have lost the confidence in pep boys that i once had. Them tires are expensive. Im so disappointed
They denied me service because my tie rod had “too much play” when I just wanted an alignment, then wanted to charge me $750 for tie rod replacement, an alignment price I did not ask for (they were going to charge me $120 when I wanted the $99 one), and charge me for 2 new rear tires.
I was traveling to see my son in the hospital in Raleigh up from the coast of North Carolina, when my alternator and battery died. I was towed to this Pep Boys by my road side service provider. I was nervous about getting my vehicle looked at today, knowing most quality garages are booked days in advance. Upon my arrival they listened to what happened, had a good idea what the problem was, confirmed it and had me back on the road in less than 1.5 hours from the time I arrived. They changed out my alternator, battery and kept me informed every step of the way. Thank you to the entire team at Clayton Pep Boys. They made a tough trip much easier.
Tires were a very good price, but I can never get the free rotation and balance service. They are always too busy with $ business to get you in. I wont buy tires there again
My partners van started making a terrible grinding noise late one Saturday night. It was no small feat finding a repair shop open on a Sunday. We made an appointment online and dropped the vehicle off an hour before we were scheduled. They called, explained what the issue was and made the repairs within an hour and a half for a more than reasonable rate. The clerk inside wasnt overly chatty, but I wasnt there for pleasantries. Well definitely be back for future service.

Hands down, the best customer service I have ever had when dealing with my car. The staff at Pep Boys were knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The pricing was competitive and they offer price matching as well! They were able to perform an oil change, inspection, install 4 new tires, and do an alignment in an hour and a half! From now on, it is the only place I will bring my car!
Highly recommend this place! I stopped here an “emergency“ situation. I don’t live in Clayton, but was passing through. Started to rain heavily and my wipers were not functioning. This issue is not something that they had the parts to complete here. Nevertheless, they went the extra mile and applied rain X to my windshield so that we could get home safely. Very friendly service! On top of all this... the service person didn’t want to charge anything, just wanted us to get home safe. This level of caring is rare! Please shop here... this place is an asset to the community!
I scheduled an appointment to have an oil change. My appointment was for 7am...so i dropped it off the night before. I have to call around 2pm to check on my car...they had not even touched it. Finally around 5pm they call to say my car is ready, there was one guy working another texting and no one helping me. When I finally am noticed tell them about my car...guess what no oil change. I bring all my vehicles to pepboys but this was my first time at this location. I will be traveling to Raleigh going forward

Dropped off the camper tire to be fixed in the morning and four hours later I show up and 3 the “mechanics” are standing outside. I’m like OK ... go inside and my tires sitting exactly the same place where It was where I dropped it off. Still flat. I talked to one of the other customers inside and he said that he’s been waiting all day for just an oil change. Fail . i’ll pick another business next time

I believe in commending folks for a job well done. We had a very pleasant experience at the local Clayton store today. We noticed our check oil message was on when we started the car. We had just had our oil changed a month ago by Pep Boys so we werent too worried but decided to let them check it out. A nice young man, Chris, greeted us immediately & explained perhaps all that was required was a reset. He took the time to personally reset it for us. Within less than 5 minutes, we were on our way. It was a relief to know there was nothing seriously wrong and no dreaded major expense since we had just replaced our tires on both vehicles recently. I brought my truck to Pep Boys to get a second opinion on some work that needed to be done to my truck. I was told by the other shop that my bearings needed to be replaced. After the Pep Boys team inspected my truck they confirmed that NO work needed to be done! Saving me about $600.00+. I just want to thank Jimmy and his team for being so honest and professional. I highly recommend this shop and I will be returning in the future.
Clayton has long needed an Honest, reliable good service shop since Goodyear just past 42 East closed 5+ years ago. Ive got multiple vehicles from 5 - 16 years old and these guys do a GREAT job helping me keep them running. I appreciate Chris, Greg and all the technicians that do my service right the first time and for a fair price. Dont let my review sway you, just look at how full the parking lot is with repeat customers bringing more work to them and telling their friends!

Completely hacked up my wheel alignment, it was suppose to be a 4 wheel alignment the only thing they adjusted was the toe. Dont be deceived it is easy to cheat the equipment so they can give you a piece of paper showing all is good. It was far from. Took it to a reputable alignment shop and the got great humor out of it. It came with a 3 month warranty, who are they kidding
I want to fix my A/C, they took 5 hours to see whats wrong. After 5 hours they denied service saying that they are busy. This is the second time I am going. They didnt take the plastic that they use as a seat cover.I didnt get fixed my A/C. As a common man by looking in to it I can say compressor is bad. because my relays are good, heater is working, it has a refrigerant as they check 1st time. There is no power to compressor. Any one with little knowledge on car can say that the compressor is bad. I never go back and they took 5 hours.
I used to always come to this one when I needed an alignment. The past two times I have been I was told it would be atleast three days from a young girl. Well, my friend works at this one and I trust him with alignments. Since, most people never get them right. He saw me as I was walking out again for the last time. He told me that he had nothing to do. Yet, it was going to be three days for a 20 min alignment. Needless to say the I dont care attitude from the female service writer has steered me away from the Clayton store. I called the Garner store and Jason up there said 30 min wait so I brought it there. Like every other time Clayton has pushed me away.

Im consistently more and more disappointed with this company the more I visit their different locations, I typically go to a location that is closer to my home but stopped as I got tired of the repeated issues I was having with that particular location and hoped it was an isolated situation, This time I bought 4 tires off of Amazon and paid for the ship to store installation service, With a 4 oclock appointment I showed up 10 minutes early, After waiting in the lobby for an hour and a 1/2 my vehicle still had not been touched, After speaking with them and finding out that they had no idea when they would get to it I went ahead and told them to just go ahead keep it overnight and finish it in the morning because I had to go, Keep in mind this was a commercial vehicle, I call them the following morning about 10 minutes till 9 and said that it was and I on the racks right now getting worked on and was told that it would probably only take about an hour, Fast forward to one oclock and I still had not heard anything from them about my vehicle, When ahead gave them a call and was told it was ready, Professionalism would have dictated a phone call expresly considering the circumstances and that I had an appointment the day before that I was on time for, Went to go pick up my vehicle only to discover that they had lost one of my hubcaps, I have been going to Pep Boys in this city with myWork vehicles for the last 3 years every single time I have made an appointment and every single time I have been on time for my appointment and have never manage to get in-and-out in any time that is ever reasonable
The lady at the counter is so rude, its hard to politely describe my experience. So Ill just leave it at that. I am relatively certain I will never attempt to use this service location ever again. After Further consideration, this location deserves nothing less than 1 star. Congratulations.

I have been bringing my vehicles here for service for the past 3 years. I have always got prompt and through service. They always tell you they might not be able to get to your vehicle right away. Then end up contacting you with an estimate a few hours later. I had some work done on a problematic issue, and it wasnt done fully to my satisfaction. So Pep Boys redid the whole job on their ticket, and earned my satisfaction. Im waiting right now for the call that my van, which I dropped off late yesterday is done and ready to roll. I think they are very fair on their pricing. Auto repair is hard work, try doing it yourself, you will gladly pay for someone else to do it quickly and correctly.Dave ONan
Booked a online Appointment for Saturday on Monday and by Wednesday I was called stating they were over booked. DO NOT USE THE ONLINE APPOINTMENT. I cancelled and went somewhere else.
Took my 03 Corvette there this morning. Had an appointment and had taken it there previously. Now the acting manager says they dont do Corvettes. Something about needing a drive on lift. News to me. Why didnt they call me? They sent me notices about my upcoming appointment. So, never again. Avoid this place.
My Alternator died on a Saturday evening with nobody open to look at it. I had it towed to my local Pep Boys and left it for early bird check in. They opened at 9 am Sunday morning (one of the few places that do). I called around 9:30 to make sure they got the SUV and would be able to work on it. Being a Ford Escape 6 cylinder the alternator replacement was a difficult job. There is no easy way to get to it, and it best removed from under the vehicle. I was quickly told what the estimated cost might be and how long the work should take. They thought that they could get it done before the end of the day (at 4 pm). I called back around 3:15 to check on the progress and Greg told me they had already finished it. I hailed an Uber to get there before closing and pay my bill. The cost was exactly what they said it would be, and the work was done well. My truck was also inspected for other problems (its 13 yrs old) that I wasnt aware of. But there was no pressure to get it all fixed. Ill bring it back again when I got more money. Overall they did a fast and good job fixing a major problem for me, and now I can relax and make my commitments without having to rely on other transportation. Thank-you Greg and team for turning a huge problem into a small molehill.
I went in for my appt and was told i had to wait another 1hr to 45 min. It was a simple state inspection. I made the appt a day before. I asked why. They said they had other people in front of me. I do not understand the purpose of having a appt if you have to wait extended amount of time to be seen.i ended up going somewhere else. It only took them 10 mins.Horrible service
Had a nail in my car tire. I removed the tire and rim and brought it to the Walmart on 42 and told me they werent taking anymore customers at 11 am this morning. Went to Walmart on 70 in Clayton and they told me they were short handed. Stopped at the Pep boys on 70 in Clayton and Andrew told me they were booked up. I let him know that the tire was purchased in his shop. He told me he couldnt do it right away but would have done for me by days end. Came back at 4:30 and he had it completed like he said he would. Thanks Andrew, you are the man. I appreciate you keeping your word. Nice talking with you today...

Overall, a great experience. A few days ago I went in for a price on tires. When I walked into the store I was greeted right away. I dealt with Andrew and Chris, both were very helpful, they answered all of my questions without making me feel like I was inconveniencing them. The rest of the staff was also courteous and professional.
There was a miscommunication on work to be performed and overall pricing, they went above and beyond to meet me in the middle and work it out. I left very happy with their customer service and professionalism.
I enjoy going to this Pep Boys and I just had my second visit to put tires on my second car. Service is good, people are great. Price was what I expected tried to up sell me to a different tire but my choice was set in stone from reading reviews on certain tires and also getting a referral. Tried to quote me on new rotors and brakes which I had already known about and was going to be replacing that week which I had previously told them. Other then that the management is good, and looks like a smooth running shop.
I just left this establishment and was quoted a price of $573 for changing spark plugs. I said no thank a d walked out. Price ridiculous!

I have been to this Pep Boys twice and had a wonderful experience both times. I set up the appointment both times online and was in and out of the store in 30-45 minutes. The first time I got new tires (2) and the second time I had my break fluid changed and my air/engine filters changed. They provided fast and professional service. The front desk customer service person was very pleasant and they never tried to sale me something extra or something I didnt need. I will also come here for my car needs.
Showed up 10 minutes before they opened needing a simple tire plug. Employees didnt come in until 8:57. Milled about for 5 minutes before unlocking the door late. Then when they unlocked the door, they pushed it open then slammed it in our face and rushed inside to the back instead of holding it open for us. Finally after they played around on computers for a bit longer, they were ready to help us. We were the only people there, yet was told it they couldnt do the plug unless we wanted a really long wait because they had other things ahead of us. Absolutely zero customer service.
About a month ago my girlfriend went to have her car repaired. I believe the mechanic that helped her was named Tom or Tim ? Long hair young man she said. She said he was very nice and knowledgeable about what exactly had to be done. She found him to be quite honest and willing to help her immediately. Car is running great and we will continue to use this place in the future. I do not understand when I read other reviews that say the place is dishonest! Maybe they go to other places and those people try to put the Pep Boys down when they are the real crooks! :-)Thanks again, Tom or Tim!! You are an asset to that business .
Complete waste of time. I scheduled an oil change and NC inspection the week prior, and received a phone call from the store the night before the appointment to confirm. I show up five minutes before my appointment time only to be told when I check in that they dont know how long it will be until we can work on your car, since we have 10 appointments at 9AM, and only 6 bays..... We get people in on a first come, first served basis. What is the point of letting customers schedule an appointment in the first place if you have no intention of honoring it? Why allow more appointments to be scheduled at a given time than you have the ability to service? I get that people might cancel, but in any other business, that is where walk-in customers fill in the gaps. The attendant at the desk then asked me if I would like to re-schedule..... Seriously? Why would I re-schedule to have my time wasted again! If the customer service is that bad, who knows what the workmanship is like in the shop itself...
I had a great experience at this shop. Cliff was very helpful with diagnosing the issues with my car and helped me make the right choices for my vehicle. He was very quick and accurate. I am very pleased with this service. Definitely recommend bringing your vehicle here.
My wife and I had the unfortunate incident of getting a flat tire, and the spare was flat as well. Had the car towed to Pepboys and Chris took great care of us. He totally understood that this car was on its last leg anyway, so we didnt want to spend a lot. We just needed something to get us back on the road safely for another year or so.He recommended a decent set of tires and found an underlying problem that caused them to go flat in the first place. Then at the end of it all, he was able to find a 10% discount code for our entire order, which helped out immensely. Overall, prices seem slightly high but they make up for it in convenience and customer service. Highly recommended!
You will not find a better mechanic in all of central/eastern NC. I was having major engine problems with my vehicle and they saw me right away. They were able to fix my engine, and the manager, Andrew, test drove it to make absolutely sure it was okay before giving it back to me. Their staff is always very polite and professional; Ive come here many times over the years and have never been disappointed. Ive even brought a few of my friends to this Pep Boys and theyve all had wonderful experiences. You and your car are in good hands here. If youre worried about prices and customer service like some of these other reviews are saying, dont be. Ive been to other mechanics around Raleigh and Clayton that have charged up to $100 more for the same issues. The staff here is much more honest as well than other mechanics Ive visited, they never try to haggle me like my previous mechanic. I drive 30 minutes to come here because I know they can be trusted.

Recommended, fast and completely service
Went in for an alignment, tried to tell me my rack and pinion was shot and needed replaced.. never lost an .oz of PS fluid of had any other issues.. took it by another shop and .... no leak.. while i was there caught the service upselling every single customer with other issues.. from lights that are out to headgasket leaks... this place is a scam shop.. they might do good work but be prepared for the inevitable upcharge.
Out of town and my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee was making a loud growling clanking noise. Called Andrew at Pep Boys and from 8am till 5pm my A/C Compressor, Cooling Fan Clutch and A/C bypass valve was repaired and ready to go from Mechanic Jimmy. They got me out of a jam and the Jeep is running great! Thanks!
