I’ve always had an amazing experience at Gold’s everyone there is there to help you out in your fitness journey. Majority of those who go to Gold’s are very friendly as well and have no problem giving you advice or simply having a good chat.
Took my first class there this am. Dietrich, I think that was his name was a great instructor and the others in the class made me feel welcomed. It was a doozie GRIT class... Looking forward to tomorrow
The only Golds Gym in area. Service seems so far great as in staff. Could use a little more TLC as in child care and needs a little modern to date uplift. Ive been a member through time in different locations cause of travel and this ones needs to be revamped just because this business has obviously been a huge dedication and service to the pubic. Considering that this seems to be the only Golds there should be a dry sauna for their patrons.
Had several issues, but Jon Wolfe is by far the most professional person there. Wonderful manager. Katelyn (I think) was also very professional and handles my situation with class.
Cheap gym membership..lots of equipment and not to crowded..
Friendly, very clean gym! I will recommend to all who love fitness. :)
Really great experience so far!
Why are the toilets always clogged with human waste to the brim and seats covered in urine while the front desk has people standing around? At least put Lysol in the stalls to make it less of a biohazard.
Good place I recommend this place great price of 10 a month you cant beat it.
Place always busy. Little free weights. Free weights always taken. Get there super early for best weights.or super late. Would not recommend if you don’t like waiting . Good food and place is clean though.
Love this gym. Staff is very professional and the smaller store inside has good post workout products for most everyone. The gym is always clean and if a machine is broken its back up in no time. Definitely the best gym in clarksville. I will bounce from E-Step on post and this place from time to time.
Great staff.
Covid guidelines are not being enforced. In the state with the highest cases, masks aren’t being enforced, social distancing isn’t being enforced, and they aren’t allowing their customers to choose not to come without charge (and cancel their membership) due to this negligence. If people aren’t comfortable going to the gym because of this, they shouldn’t have to pay for a membership they aren’t able to use.
I am actually an employee here or I was and then without any notice just was never contacted to teach any more classes. The communication is terrible and has been from the start. Jen Colon gave me a Sunday barre class without even telling me I was hired first or any sort of acknowledgement that she would love to have me join the staff. I just saw my name on the schedule and was shocked. Then after one month of teaching, covid hit and classes were slowed. When classes returned the other barre instructor who also has many other classes to teach throughout the week has been given every opportunity to teach while I have patiently waited for 9 months to be given a class back. I’m told that “members don’t like new faces” but then the members themselves are asking where I’ve been and why I’m not teaching and that they miss me and loved taking my class. Which also, if this were the case and you wanted me to team teach then why did you already give me my own class back when I first started? Then I’m told that older staff members get priority on classes, but I see new instructors on the schedule in other places. There was obviously favoritism going on with putting her “friends” on the schedule the most. Jen had no professionalism or communication with up coming schedules/class needs. I’m very confused by this gyms process for handling employees. I subbed quite often for Courtney’s barre class when she needed it which some months was almost every week. I worked hard and was very good at my job. I deserved atleast a conversation before deciding I wasn’t going to be on the schedule anymore. I would advise anyone thinking of working here to find another gym. It is not a pleasant experience.
Worst gym in Clarksville. Old equipment and small. They refuse to cancel membership after calling, emailing, and showing up in person. Had to cancel credit card and set up all reoccurring payments again. Wasted a day of my life.
Its a decent gym, a lot of the equipment is old or outdated. And lots of people like using several pieces of equipment at once. The childcare is advertised wrong, we came in with our baby and signed up for a membership, holding the baby, in workout clothes. Then went to turn baby in at the childcare and they were like ooh sorry we dont take babies, even though the website says we doTrying to cancel the membership after giving them several months in spite of that first experience is an ordeal. So far I have called once, they said I needed to come in person. I came on the weekend and they said I needed to show up on a weekday during business hours. If your business model doesnt involve being competitive with other gyms in the area, and instead involves trapping people into your business... it needs to be adjusted.
Great place to workout.
Gym is nice but there was some strange guy taking photos of a woman he doesnt know. Not sure if u can identify him. Anu nak amun-ra is his name on Facebook. I posted the photo here in the review
The member ship to this gym is definitely worth it. Lots of equipment and different areas and sections you can go to. Your not confined to one area like planet fitness. There’s plenty to do lots and lots of weights. There are also more experienced lifters here so if you need help or something of that manner people here would be glad to help.
Great gym, unfortunately they don’t open on time. A lot of people come at 5am for a reason. I’ve been sitting here waiting for them to open and a lot of people that pay for their memberships had to leave because they couldn’t wait. I’ll be more than happy to change my review when I know this was fixed.
An amazing place for beginners and advanced a like. Many of the trainers are so encouraging and easy going. If you dont know where to start on your fitness journey I highly recommend Golds gym.
Always a great experience and plenty of equipment for an excellent workout!
Staff is very nice and the gym is always clean. The only thing i wish they had was more room. I feel like everything is close together. For one person basic membership is $16 a month to use their equipment classes arent included.
Poor management.
If youre serious about GAINS you will go to Golds Gym.
Horrible experience. Paid the rest of my membership and was told that I can’t cancel ahead of time, even though my membership was paid off. (Canceling because I am PCSing with the Army). I was told to come back in March to cancel. COVID-19 struck and they won’t let you cancel over the phone. So I’ve been paying $30 a month for a service I don’t use. They gym FINALLY opened back up...I went in to cancel, and was told I have to pay for the ENTIRE next month. I’ve been paying for 4 months for a service where my contract should have ended. They’ve made zero accommodations because of the pandemic. Extremely disappointed since I was told all I had to do was walk in and cancel. No one told me anything about having to pay for an entire additional month. I will never use golds again.
Cancelled my membership and they continued to charge me. Worst gym Ive ever been a member of. I will never recommend this place.
Some of the equipment could be replaced with better quality stuff. Great atmosphere for getting after it!
The manager is super nice here. All of the employees have great attitudes as well. During the day its very busy, but at night there are plenty of machines to use for working out.
Very disappointed lately. Staff is very unprofessional when their friends come in. Allowing extremely vulgar language and inappropriate conversations in the lobby. Dress code is never enforced. Definitely gone down hill over the last year or so.
So Gold’s charged people during Covid despite being closed, said they’d stop charging until Covid subsided and keep members informed. Yet the minute Golds Clarksville opened members were charged again without even being informed. Want to cancel your membership online? Good luck, website won’t let you. Want to cancel over the phone? Well Gold’s Clarksville’s number goes straight to an inactive voicemail. I’ve been a member for almost 3 years now, but I’ll no longer be patronizing any Gold’s establishment.
Terrible customer service. Advertised price is higher then the actual cost. When asked about the numbers I was told I dont know, thats just the price. Good crowd in the gym.
Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of my questions.
I canceled my membership with them when I moved away but they randomly started charging me again a few months later.
You know that we are suffering from Covid. The kids area is closed, my husband is in Korea and therefore I have no way to utilize my membership. They still charge me and because I refuse to pay for a membership I am unable to use, not of my own volition, theyve sent up for collections on me. That is so unethical. They are crooks.
I liked it. especially for there deal right now, 10 a month for a year contract and 20 for a month to month payment (no contract).
The gym itself is great, most people working are great, but there’s a female employee that was behind the counter as i was trying to tan and sat on her phone completely ignoring me for 5 or more minutes when i asked to tan. Then when another male employee came and asked if i needed help, she jumped up and said “i can help”.
This is my friends experience - Paid for trainer services and membership at Golds Gym in Clarksville Tennessee. Gym closed immediately after pre-paying for classes due to the Covid 19. I requested a refund for all pre- payments because I never had the opportunity to use their services and I no longer live in the area. The owner John Cuthill denied my request for refund because he says no refunds will be given for paid services.
Can be crowded and douchey at times but this is the best Golds gym in Tennessee hands down. Staff is excellent, clean facilities and management is attentive.
I just joined this gym a few weeks ago. The instructors I’ve come across have been super nice! The location is great for me which is why I chose it over CAC. However, every time I have attempted to bring my son I have had to wait 30 minutes to an HOUR! If childcare is a deciding factor for you, don’t join.
Great place to train and the staff, they are 100 percent legit
Staff is horrible I wouldn’t recommend this gym .
The customer service is awful and the employees are full of excuses. Its over crowded leaving no parking spots at their peak times and no child care available even when the club isnt busy because they only have 2 employees in the child care room making capacity easily reachable. The gym itself has everything you need but its not very clean. If your not a fitness junkie you will feel out of place. We canceled and were rudely told best of luck to you. There are better gyms in clarksville, make the drive.
I only stay because I signed up back in 2017 when they had a special going on that gave me a membership for $10 a month, but if not for that I would have left long ago. Bathrooms looks just the same as a middle school one that is never cleaned. There’s never a toilet to use. When things break they stay broken for months at a time. 4 stair steppers in the entire gym and one broke back in March. Told the guy on shift and they didn’t finally put an out of order sign on it until some time in April. Now into May and still has the out of order sign. Seems they don’t care about enforcing a single rule that they have posted all around the gym period. When there isn’t a special going on they try to charge $45 a month for the basic membership. For that price this place isn’t even close to worth it considering they close early on the weekends as well. Do yourself a favor and go find one of the 24/7 gyms around here that actually care about themselves for the price this place wants to charge. I’ll be leaving soon despite the special pricing I had.
Gym is ok but I joined a couple weeks ago and you would think that I would he treated appropriately. Instead one of the “managers” and her name is Sonia was unbelievably rude and wouldn’t even try to rectify the situation. I would recommend finding another gym, if possible. I’m still reaching out to another manager to see how much this gym actually cares about their members. Luckily, I have another membership... So, I can just cancel this one
Excellent, clean, well organised, well appointed, and staffed. It’s an inexpensive and great gym.
Terrible service and they dont clean very often. If you do sign up and move later, it is painfully, timewastfully, difficult to cancel your membership. A family member tryed cancellation of his membership, but they said he had to come in the the gym... What part did you not get? We moved dude.
Overall I liked the gym.. equipment was sufficient for my fitness goals. The only two issues I had were the people crowding the benches where the dumbells and mirror are at, and the way they charge you.. I didn’t sign a contract so it was month to month, yet I was always charged twice a month which was unnecessary. I have since moved and left the gym and when I went to cancel, I was charged a cancellation fee plus the following months bill... it’s a great gym but I think with it being in a military town, they try their best to nickel and dime you.
Do NOT TRUST!! cancelled in person to Britney, moved out of state and still got charged. There customer service is absolutely HORRIBLE!! Im not the only one this has happened to. I googled it and hundreds of others had this happen with no way to resolve it but to sue them. They have no cooperate number or manager with the authorization to help you. They PREY on people and screw them over!! DO NOT USE THESE PPL!
Been going for about 8 months now. Below are improvements in priority I believe could help maximize the gym:1. Too many treadmills. Needs more cable machines and stair masters. That could be accomplished by removing two-thirds of the treadmills in the cable room; they’re severely under-utilized.2. Staff is slow to repair inoperable machines. This becomes frustrating during times of peak attendance (usually 90% of the time).3. Filters on water fountains sometimes go weeks on red before being changed.4. Men’s bathrooms are consistently over flowing with trash and in a state of foul smells.5. Saunas would be a nice addition. I would pay an extra small membership fee for that.
I called and canceled my subscription back in October of 2018, to this day the still call me saying my bill is past due. What great staff who can’t even cancel a subscription when asked to. Not paying for services not rendered. Wish I could rate 0 stars.
I have been a member of this gym for over a year. The only reasons why I have continued to stay is the location and most importantly the hot yoga program. The hot yoga is now closing. Members were informed about this in class and were given very little explanation. I have emailed the manager twice with no response. It is a huge disappointment that they are closing the hot yoga program. The other issue I have is that this gym only has 3 stairmasters and one is consistently broken.
The location and equipment are fine, besides the overabundance of people in the free weight section. My main problem was the complete lack of respect that I received from the manager and the poor customer service. If you try to find someone higher up than the completely rude manager here youll be on a wild goose chase. There are no other numbers to call and youll have to deal with the manager here if you have a problem. She made a mistake and handled the situation completely disrespectfully and Im surprised no one else has felt the same. Decent gym with decent staff but a lackluster manager who need to be taught how to talk to customers.
Great place for a workout, equipment is clean and has a large selection. Juice bar is great as well, I would give 5 stars if there was a sauna.
Golds Gym promises more than it has to offer. I have spoken to other members who feel the same way. We were offered amenities that were never delivered. It seems like Hendersonville is the golden child (pardon the pun) of the owners. Money seems to be thrown more their way than Clarksville. With all of that said, I primarily go to Golds for the hot yoga. We were recently informed that the program would be discontinued which is just another way in which Golds Gym is pulling the rug out from under its customers. We are definitely overpaying for what we are getting.
Great place. Staff member Austin was very helpful and professional.
The environment and vast amount of equipment make your workout very productive and enjoyable. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. Overall it is just an awesome gym.
This would be a 4 star if the cost matched the quality of the gym. Its over crowded with medium to poor quality equipment. Most of the equipment and benches are cracked and torn. I immediately regretted buying a summer pass for 100$ it may have been worth it if it was 10$ a month with no hidden fees (which if you get a membership theres plenty of)
They not care about the customers. DO NOT SUPPORT GOLDS GYM.
Had a great visit .
I tried several times to cancel my membership that had been up for a year. I went there 3 times they always said I had to come at a certain time to cancel but you don’t have to sign up at a certain time. The girl at the front desk is incompetent. They want you to write a letter and go to the post office to get it certified. This is the worst gym experience I’ve ever had!!!!!
I love the gym its affordable with kid care, I go because I have kids, the gym is clean and opened the staff are amazing especially the child care staff. Would highly recommend it.
Good setup. Good Exercise equipment. People there act like high school kids. A lot of talking and flirting. Workout and gtfo!
Lots of machines and classes to choose from. I love zoning out in the movie room on the stair mill or tread mill. Im not usually a fan of the music in the main area but headphones fix that easily. Employees at the front desk are always nice. Parking can be difficult at times.
Decent facilities but the locker rooms are pretty trash.
While I am grateful for the daycare service provided. The wait time is ridiculously long whenever I go. Seriously...always a long wait. Do not waste your time if youre looking for daycare service! Minimum of 15 kids is just ridiculous and unrealistic. Unfortunately, Im going to have to end my membership and take my business elsewhere!
Be wary of the contract you’re signing, and especially read through it’s cancellation policy. They do offer day pass, unless you have a friend with the the +1 option. You can’t beat the price for the equipment they have available and hours. The staff is great and have available a ‘Steere’s Nutrition Shop’ if you find yourself without any protein, pre-workout, etc.
The gym itself is well stocked but the management of the gym and their ethics are terrible. I have repeatedly told them to cancel my membership and to stop changing me, but even during their mandatory shutdown they still never missed a single opportunity to charge me and flat out refuse to cancel my membership.
Hours and price are great and the staff is pretty friendly, but I was overcharged on my membership fees for several months and wasnt offered any type of refund or compensation, which is annoying since I was charged nearly double what I was supposed to pay. The machines are way too crowded together which could probably be improved by getting rid of some of the treadmills as there are a ton of them that are hardly used. Also, its not very clean. I saw the same mess (some large hunk of white crumbly stuff that looked like deodorant) for several days. Its in a pretty conspicuous spot, so you can tell theyre not doing very thorough daily cleaning. All in all, its ok. Theres a decent amount of options, the classes Ive taken were good, and its cheap. Theres definitely room for improvement though.
If I could give this gym 0 stars I would. They have a company there called lighthouse fitness and they have been stealing money out of my account for over a year now. I did a 6 mouth contract with them. Started in October2017 stopped going around the end of December bc I had to do training in another state then I did a pcs move to korea in June 112018... which is past 6 months they were still charging me. My husband then went over with a copy of my orders to change it and nothing happened it is now july 5th 2019 and they are still stealing money out of my account.Golds gym would be way better off without them. They are awful. Please if you go to golds gym do not get involved with lighthouse fitness!
Ok at best. The Golds staff is pretty nice. The gym is really nothing special, lots of people standing around setting up cameras to put trash on the internet, and the breakfast club atmosphere.
The staff here are rude and very immature. Even complained to management which was a total waste of my time. The gym is also cluttered and dirty which made my experience even more unpleasant. I do NOT recommend this facility.
Absolute horrible experience!!After canceling our account they kept charging us for over a year after and refuse to do anything about it.
I chose this gym over Clarksville Athletic and the YMCA due to the advertised childcare option. I also paid a premium rate for this option. Please resist the urge to do the same!Your chances of getting childcare availability when you need it is very slim. Ive been a member for almost a year and I have had to cancel personal training sessions or miss classes because slots are filled. Save your headache and frustration by making alternate plans. Do not sign up only because of their advertised childcare, space is extremely limited. Finally, the filter for the water fountain on the floor is usually blanking red, which means that it needs to be replaced. It lingers for about 2 weeks prior to replacement. So, a majority of us typically bring our own water as a result.
Currently as of may 2020The hours are:M-F 5am-10pmSaturday - Sunday 7am-7pm
Best gym I have found in clarksville. The theatre in cardio room is great but has been down for past week and very limited on movies which is a huge downfall. Also be prepared to be incredibly annoyed by some of the people that work out there on their cell phones while on machines or even chatting with each other taking up 2 and 3 machines at a time, its always annoying to have to wait 15 to 20 min for the people with no gym ethics to get off a freaking machine. Its not a freaking cross fit gym Jesus. Outside of running into the dummies that work out there that like to do fifty things not including actually working out the place is good and mostly friendly staff, some regulars are culprits of being in the way
Its an ok gym, but damn does it get packed. If your used to the original then youll be disappointed. Has more of a planet fitness vibe with a crossfit section slapped in it
Giving a two strictly based on the childcare .Childcare was the only reason for us choosing Golds gym . Last week I spent everyday waiting 20-45 mins to get my children in there which I dealt with, I tried understanding its still the beginning of the year and people are high on working on their new year goals. However when I went in yesterday February 27th and walked in the door, asked how long the wait was and the girl said 1.5hr at the earliest I could not stay to wait . Please please please do something about the childcare situation ! My husband works two jobs and we live very busy lives, as do many others . I can handle the packed gym environment . I will fight for a parking spot and even a bench, but I cant fight for a 1.5hr wait when thats all the time I have by the time I can make it to the gym .
This wasnt my favorite gym, but was in a contract and now that Im out, I attempt to cancel (which now puts me out of my way since I moved) but Im annoyed that they have set times for when you can cancel. It makes it extremely inconvenient and gives me no reason to want to stay with this gym among other things.
I rate it a 2 because the daycare staff arent very friendly. I drop off my child before my workouts and there are 2 employees there. One is mainly on her phone most of the time, while the other interacts with the kids. I came in on a hectic day and the lady that was up at the counter came across very rude. If it wasnt for my contract, I would move to a different gym mainly because of the poor customer service in the daycare center. However the trainers are friendly and the equipment is great
Love going to this Golds! Staff are super nice and the gym is clean and plenty of room!!
Im a nerd, so the cinema room did it for me. Great selection of equipment.
If you’re thinking about joining this gym... DON’T!!!. The month to month advertisement is a LIE!!! You will be charged bi-weekly and there will be a cancellation fee THIEVES!!!. The one hour trainer is with a outside company that is very expensive. How this location still has 4 stars is beyond me.
Its a damn gym not a day care, shut up. Its an ok gym for the price, and its practical. Opening up on time is the only reason it doesnt get 5 stars.
They have a cardio room, free weights, hot yoga, and cycling classes. Everything you can ask for is at Golds Gym. The staff makes me feel comfortable enough to approach and are always willing to help if I dont understand how to use a machine.
Wish I could give this damned place 0 stars.....they must be incompetent when it comes to non-renewing contracts and canceling subscriptions when they are supposed to. I called 1 month and 22 days ago to take my account off auto draft so that it would NOT automatically renew, and spoke with the manager herself DIRECTLY....wouldnt ya know, it drafted my account and renewed....so unbelievable. These people are a rip off...and they DO NOT keep up their end of the contract. Needless to say itll be a battle getting all of this straight, but its worth it just for the principle of the matter......
Great overall experience at this club!I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to accomplish their fitness goals.
The only reason I went here was for Hot Yoga.
Worst golds gym location Ive been to. They never have child care available no matter what time you go. The managers and some of the staff members are rude. They give you the run around about cancelling your membership. According to the contract, you have a 3 day period to cancel your membership without penalty. Of course, they do not cancel it and avoid your phone calls about the issue. Terrible business!
Horrible customer service! Read the contract carefully. If you ever want to cancel you have to write a letter to the corporate office, it dont matter if you are going to deploy or have to move for work. Its not like most places where you can just call and cancel. And if this is not inconvenient enough, the GM will treat you like an idiot when you call and basically tell you good luck!Ive called in twice now and both times I was told my membership was canceled, I have now been charged 2 months in a row, and when I called today to see what is going on I was treated like I havent been a solid member for the past 2 years!Strongly recommend Clarksville athletic club off of Wilma Rudolph or Anytime fitness off of tiny town.I currently live in Miami FL and anytime fitness has been an extremely professional gym!
Great clean facility. Has nutrition shop thag is amazing. Not to expensive.
I’m not a member, but my friend is. She had been seeing advertisements to bring a friend on Friday’s. She brought me today, and we were under the impression that I could bring my son too. I’m a SAHM and my husband is currently gone right now due to the Army, so finding childcare is pretty difficult. So when we came in, we were told by the guy at the front desk he wasn’t sure if my son could go into the childcare, and he’d grab his manager. She conviently walked up and he asked her and were greeted with a rude “no, only members have access to our childcare, it’s a liability issue” no apology, nothing. This woman was older, had short hair, glasses. I understand the liability part, but being rude when it isn’t even advertised that this promotion is solely for friends, and you can’t bring your children. She acted like we should have known.I’ll never get a membership here.
Great gym, love the hot yoga
Good gym
Great atmosphere. Plenty of equipment. Clean facility. Child care. Awesome hours. Friendly staff.
