MORTAR forced us to take a step back from day to day operations to really focus on building into our business. I was selected for an incubator program with MORTAR a couple years ago. I had a lot of the resources and skill I needed on the creative end of my business, but close to 0 knowledge when it came to actually getting up and running from a marketing/business perspective. The people behind MORTAR are some of the most passionate, kind and genuinely helpful people I know. Even though its been almost two years since I graduated their program, they still are in contact often with opportunities for my photo business, motivation and general checking in to see how things are going. Im so thankful I had the opportunity to go through this program. Going through the Mortar Cincinnati program I was introduced to PROVIDOM for my business and personal finances. Candice has been so patient, breaking things down to help me build and structure in my finances in all areas of my life.She even deals with my psychology with in regards to money. I graduated from MORTAR Class 3 in December 2015. Allen Woods was our facilitator and I met him when we he spoke at Unpolished earlier that year. I was instantly attracted to the energy of MORTAR and their focus on aiding minority owned businesses. I was accepted a few months after applying and the 9 week cohort provided us with the resources and confidence to move forward with launching a BBQ Food Truck. We ordered our custom trailer mid way through the class with full support of the Co-founders, our classmates and resources introduced through the class, such as our SCORE Mentor & UC ECDC at College of Law representation. MORTAR is also our Trustee for our first small business loan with Kiva. Were extremely thankful for the commitment of the MORTAR team and thrilled to be a part of the #weareMORTAR family.
