My son is 11 years old and has been attending Movimento gym for 2 going on 3 years now. From the start we were welcomed and treated like family. My son has became stronger mentally and physically. He has learned and grown so much that it is beyond words to explain. The gym owner (Israel) is an amazing Professor and has hired amazing coaches (Jacky and Matt) to train the kid classes . We are 2 years in and are not planning on going anywhere. Once my son ages out of the kid classes he will move on to the adult classes and kick boxing will also be an option for him. I have already added my nephew who is 9 years old to the kid classes and my niece who is 13 years old to the adult classes and they love it. I could not have been happier for them to join the Movimento family!!
Best place to train in Chicago! World class jiu jitsu, top-notch infraestructure and the warmest team!
Movimento BJJ is a really fantastic school that offers some of the best BJJ training you can find in Chicago. Israel Reyes is a phenomenal jiu-jitsu competitor and an even better instructor: one of those people with a real gift for coaching, who can consistently get you to push yourself beyond what you thought were your limits. Thanks to this training, I have gone from borderline-overweight and struggling seriously with exercise-induced asthma, to being in the best shape I have ever experienced and even winning tournaments while hardly touching my inhaler. Seriously--awesome--workouts! Classes are designed to be tough for everyone, so that no matter where you are fitness-wise, you are always being pushed to the next level. Expect hard cardio, lots of drills, and sparring to end every class. Everyone is welcome, so come try out a class for free!
This is a phenomenal gym run by a world class Bjj practitioner/teacher. Clean, high quality equipment and instruction for all levels - definitely check it out.
I have been training with Professor Israel Reyes and Movimento BJJ since 2013. Before that, I had trained at various gyms in different martial arts. This academy has a family vibe to go along with exceptional training and instruction. I highly recommend that you stop in to see what Movimento BJJ is all about if youre interested in getting a great workout in while learning self-defense!
Love the folks at this place. Been going there for 8 years and so grateful for the training.
I started going to Movimento back in June 2017 when I found a Groupon for kickboxing, something I had always wanted to try. The kickboxing classes were amazing, and I was hooked after my first class. Herc, the kickboxing instructor was very patient with me as a beginner, and also a great motivator; I had never pushed myself as hard as I did in kickboxing class. After a few months, I began to have an interest in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes that began just as the kickboxing class ended. I had never imagined it would be something I would be interested in, but as someone who was very interested in self-defense, it seemed like something I should definitely try. After months of kickboxing, I finally decided to give BJJ a try in November 2017. As I mentioned before, BJJ was not something I ever imagined I would find myself doing, but I truly fell in love with it after my first few classes. Isreal, the BJJ professor and owner, was extremely patient with me and the other beginners and immediately made me feel welcome, along with the rest of the team. BJJ was the most amazingly unexpected thing to come into my life, and I look forward to many more years of learning and training!
This local hidden gem is amazing. The owner and trainer, Israel (Iszy) is probably one of the hardest working instructors in the industry, yet hes the nicest and most humble guy ever. For anyone looking to either get in shape, stay in shape or simply try something new - this is the place to be. The entire team is very welcoming from the very first time stepping into the gym. Jiu Jistu had helped me learn so much about myself, pushing my limitations and overcoming fears and owe it all to Iszy and the amazing teammates at Movimento.
Amazing techniques, great workouts, solid training partners, and one of the best instructors around. Went there under a highly reviewed recommendation from a friend, and I have to concur.
Came in through a Groupon, and was hooked. I tried out the Brazilian Jujitsu classes first, but rolling around on the ground doing a contact sport wasnt quite my thing, so I tried the Muay Thai kickboxing. Five months later, Im pretty much hooked. Izao and Herc are both great instructors, and really patient and encouraging. The kickboxing classes are five days a week, Sunday-Thursday, 5:30-6:30 PM on the weekdays and 9:15-10:15 AM on Sunday.
