I took my brand new boots into Hobdy praying they could put an elastic piece on the side so that the boot would go up my big leg and I wouldnt have to send them back.Well, not only did they but the piece on the boot but in the back and I swear they did such a Fantastic job! I thought I bought them like that.The shoe repairer even looked into putting patent leather on the boot but the vendor didnt sale the size I needed. But all in all, I have no complaints.Thank you Hobdy you saved my fashion😁

Great work and nice folks. I had my soles partially resoled and the quality is clear. Although I didn’t need them to be shined up (I prefer a matte look) I know it’s just a reflection of customer service. I’m sure if I mentioned that I didn’t want it they would have obliged. I wore them a few hours after receiving them and so far so good. I’ll definitely be back.

Dropped off two purses and one pair of sandals the repair guy explained everything he would do to repair my items. He and the lady at the counter was very personable, they indicated all Items will be ready for pick-upIn one week. Pricing reasonable.

Its unfortunate that I have to leave this review but this is the second issue Im having with this business.During my first experience I was more understanding, and rather than leave a negative review for that experience, I decided to overlook it.So back in November, two orders were dropped of at the shop. We told the owner there wasnt really a rush as we understood the holidays were coming around and they were probably busy. Fast forward to February of this year (3 months later), I called the shop inquiring about one of the orders. I was told by the owners Mother that she would call me back. A week passed, no call back. Called a second time, was promised by the Mother that I would get a call back this time. 3 days later, still no call back. I called a third time and was told that my boots were being cleaned and shined and I would have to wait for them to dry. Why my order had been there for 3 months and my boots were just now being cleaned and shined is beyond me. I truly believe my shoes hadnt got worked on until I called and they were trying to buy time. As a side note, Id like to add that while I was dropping off, there was another customer who came in to pick up and was upset because their order was supposed to be ready that day and was not. The shoes were to be worn that evening.Even after the first unsatisfactory experience, I thought Id give them another try. So here we are today (5 months after the initial drop off) and I am taking in another pair of shoes to get worked on. I thought why not pick up the second order from November while dropping off this new order. Get to the shop, inquire about the November order, and of course, the Mother says she has to call me later. I explained my concern as the last time I was told Id get a call back, I had to call three times over a span of two weeks before getting any service. And as before, she promised shed call me around one oclock. Yea right is exactly what I said to her. Then she explains that the shoes are probably at her Sons house because he works there too, he works alone, hes really busy...blah, blah, blah. Still doesnt explain why after 5 months my order is not in the shop waiting to be picked up. If you cant keep up with the volume of work 1) hire more hands and/or 2) stop taking in new business until you catch up with your current work load. Anyway, I decided NOT leave the new order there because at this point, theyre unprofessionalism cannot be overlooked.The call I was supposed to get by 1pm today never came (like I said it wouldnt). I waited until 2pm before calling back. Mother gave more excuses of why she hasnt called back. She then proceeds to say that she spoke to her Son about the order but doesnt know when hes coming in because hes working at home and I may have to wait until Tuesday to pick up the order. WHAT?!?! Then she says her Son can probably meet me somewhere because I had mentioned earlier that I live far from the shop. WHAT?!?!Again, why after 5 months is my order not in the shop ready to be picked up?!?! Why would I have to meet a strange man somewhere to get that order?!?!Its now 4pm and I have yet to receive an update call. Just give me my shoes so I can be done with this! I will NEVER do business with Hobdy Shoe Repair again!

I WISH I TOOK BEFORE PICS!!My raggedy favorite ankle boots needed a new zipper and cleaning, done like new...my 1st black classic Uggs...salt soaked...looks BRAND NEW....my knee high brown leather Ugg riding boots...looked like a cat attacked them....now...polished and like new!!! Thank you!! Great customer service as well, they called to me let me know they were ready!!

I took in one shoes that had the sole coming apart and needed to be glued back. I agreed to picking it up in three days, but I needed to get in two days. I called and requested the earlier pickup. I was graciously accommodated.

We usually bring my sons Jordans here. And believe me, Hobdy turns them from rags to riches. I recently brought in a pair of old beat up boots that were in need of new heels among other things. The heels were out of the ordinary style wise and needed reconstruction all the way down to the soul. Well Hobdy fixed them and got me styling again in my favorite pair of boots. The price was surprisingly very low for the service.

Try to support Black business but I was very disappointed initially. I prepaid for heels to be cut down on 3 pairs of very expensive boots. Dropped off 10/16 pick was for 10/23 and did I say I PREPAID !!!! Came on 10/23 boots were not ready. But first the owner tried to give me the wrong boots. I was very pleasant and understanding. Am sitting here now 10/26 waiting on boots to be repaired so basically the boots were not even touched until now. Just got the boots back and the work is excellent. And they gave me a 15.00 credit. The owner does need an assistant. I will come back but not prepay

I had heel taps replaced on a pair of shoes and boots. They polished the shoes and removed salt from the boots. My shoes and boots look better than before. I was wondering if the boots were worth another repair, but Im so glad I made the small investment. Im sure Ill get many more years wear.I definitely will continue to do business with this shop.

Im so grateful I found Hobdy Shoe Repair. I took four pairs of boots to be repaired, all heels: two pairs needed minor heel scuff repairs (from driving in them); one pair needed a full makeover (I was prepared to throw away), and the the fourth needed a special zipper replaced and shine. Ive received Three out of the four pairs back so far and Im super pleased with the results. The pair that need a zipper is taking a little while longer. But Im confident I will be happy when I get that boot back. If youre looking for a place to go, I highly recommend. Note - I do not know the owner or staff and was not asked to write this review. This is my to go to for my shoe repair needs. Its a father and son generation establishment. I need my high heels cut down.. And didnt know it could be done with perfection... Awesome service. The owner goes out of his way to make sure youre taken care of. Hell go the extra mile (literally) for his customers. Drove over 30 miles to hand deliver me my item when I wouldnt be able to pick it up in time. Now thats great service.

I took my uggs in but was very nervous because they were basically new but had a liquor stain on one. When I picked them up I was very happy. He did a good job without damaging them. Hes also very friendly and respectful!

Hobdy Shoe Repair is one of the last black-owned shoe repair stores in Chicago. For over 50 years Mr. Hobdy and his family have provided excellent service to their customers! This shop does it all--ranging from repairing mens and womens boots and shoes to purses and bags. They are also better priced compared to other repair stores in the area. If you have an issue these are the people to go to!

Really good shoe repair is done here, especially on UGG and Bear Claw boot reconditioning. And the proprietor charges fair prices. Busy intersection and parking is sometimes hard to find, but definitely worth it!
