Even with an 8:30 am appointment, waited in the exam room for 30 minutes until the doctor came. She was accompanied by a P.A. who did not introduce herself but just began talking. Exam was fine.

Terrible billing practices - I was referred to this office by my primary care doctor and saw Dr. Sanchez-Palacios over 3 years ago for a skin rash.She diagnosed the rash and prescribed a cream. Whilethere, she noticed a scab from when I cut myself shaving -unrelated to the issue I was referred to this office for. She claimedit was a mole and offered to freeze it off. She never told me itwas going to cost $200. It wasnt even a mole, it was a scab. Atthe end of the appointment, I paid the $75 copay I was told I oweand left. Years later theyre trying to claim I consented to theadditional $200 procedure and threatening to turn me over tocollections, for an issue I did not ask for help with and was nottold I would be charged for. Ive asked numerous times to disputethe charge and they always say I need to talk to the billingmanager who is never available. I dont know what else to do toget rid of this unjust charge (that insurance even paid them aportion of! Just take what you got paid and stop coming after me!)

I have been a patient here since 2016. Dr Sanchez-Palacios has been incredibly amazing and has helped me get rid of my cystic hormonal acne. Thanks to her I was able to get my confidence back and feel beautiful again. Today, after a long time I returned to the office to address another issue and the whole staff was very welcoming and friendly. Liz was the sweetest. Always look forward to appointments here.

Updating patient information at check-in was straightforward and clear. Dr. Sanchez made clear assessment of spots on my face, offered immediate cryotherapy or some and provided direction for follow-up. Very professional yet personal treatment.

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Berk was efficient, listened to my concerns, and offered sound advice.My concern and complaint is I waited 1 hour and fifteen minutes past my appointment time before Dr. Berk saw, spoke, or examined me. The cost of parking is not cheap and I value my time.

Office visit was fine. I had an old mole removed just to be safe. I have a low-deductible, in-network PPO plan. Thus far I have received 3 separate bills to go along with 2 separate copays. 1 bill was for the procedure and the other 2 were from different labs. The bills are indecipherable to people who dont work in medical billing, so I cannot discern why my tissue sample needed so many eyes on it. No one at Skin Care Center has a clue about how many labs fees I will be responsible for. Talk to the lab. The labs both said it was for the biopsy.Before the 3-minute procedure I inquired as to how much it might cost and more or less got a should be covered shrug from the nurse. Im up over $300 at this point. Patients deserve respect, basic transparency and compassion throughout these intensely personal processes - billing included. Skin Care Center has been very disappointing in that regard and still very much part of the problem. Nice waiting room, though.

I saw Dr. Sanchez-Palacios today and was very happy with my visit! I expected a wait (just typical at all doctors offices) but it was a very quick experience. I wanted a small mole looked at and she ended up removing it during that visit, which was great. I found her and her staff to be extremely friendly!

I recently had a procedure done at the Skin Care Center. While my experience within the actual office was fine, I have received multiple bills, including charges from a separate pathology lab, and I have been unable to to obtain a consistent explanation from the Skin Care Center as to what the charges are for. I was never informed that my samples would be sent an external pathology lab nor that I would be held responsible for hundreds of dollars worth of charges from that lab.I spoke with multiple people in their billing department (Patty and Juliet). They provided contradictory explanations for why I received bills from the external lab, and I am still not sure exactly what was done. I also found both Patty and Juliet to be condescending and combative.I will not be returning to the Skin Care Center and would not recommend it to anyone.

Met with Dr Burke initially who made a thorough examination to ensure that what I thought was an irregular wart was benign. He then asked what other concerns i might have. Based on the information he assured me that they could all be addressed the same date. Brittany Dr Burke’s asst. addressed my additional concerns and she was great in explaining what was going to happen step by step for very minimal discomfort. Lastly while speaking with Brittany we started discussing other future potential enhancements. Same day she made the introductions. I met Liz R. From the office who explained the pro’s and con’s of what I was considering. Long story short I was even able to have that done. I walked away very happy and more confident, will be coming back!

Dr Burk treating me since 2001,. Very professional & academician & his experience in one visit I start feeling better..it doesnt matter I have to drive longer to get his expert advice. .

Dr. Dillig was great. She did a Mohs surgery near my temple for a basal cell carcinoma and it barely hurt. My only complaint was the wait for the results of the surgery, which was supposed to have taken an hour or hour-and-a-half but took closer to two-and-a-half hours. If Id known in advance it was going to take that long, I would have prepared better for the long wait.

Dr. Was a great listener and explained what he believes was happening in my legs after I was given a biopsy. I was given an injection and was scheduled for a return visit in 10 days.

Staff was very friendly! Appointment was quick and helpful, not needlessly long since I didn’t have concerning things and it was only a routine skin check. Will definitely visit again in a couple years for another skin check. Highly recommend

I recently moved to Chicago and this was my first visit to the Skin Care Center. I felt that the staff was courteous and friendly. The doctor was professional in her exam and helped me understand what to look for in terms of potential skin cancers (I had had a small basal cell carcinoma removed in 2020). Overall, it was a very pleasant and informative visit.

Everyone was super nice! Only complaint is i had to wait over my appointment time. I had an appointment for my son at 2pm but didnt get called back into a room until 2.20pm. Otherwise, everything was great!

I always feel confident in Dr. Berks judgement and expertise. Only complaint is I had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time to be seen by the doctors assistant and then eventually Dr. Berk.

Dr. Berk is a very kind, gentle, compassionate and generous physician. He Was not rushed or in a hurry, he spent a lot of time with me. He addressed all of my concerns and he was very thorough. His nurse practitioner and assistant were amazing as well! I highly recommend Dr. Berk. This was the second time I’ve seen him. I definitely chose the right dermatologist.

Every single person I spoke to was helpful. Dr Berk was very thorough and kind which I appreciated. My only small issue was with the online portal, I couldn’t log in at first after trying multiple times. It was busy, so expect to wait at least 20 minutes in addition to the time you wait in the waiting room.

I followed here for a few years with a few different dermatologists. I had double checked at the last appointment that when I changed insurances they were still in network, and was explicit about asking at the appointment to clarify the cost would be in network. Dr Berk proceeded to order biopsies and labs that were processed externally without clarifying whether this would be in or out of network even after I had explicitly stated I was asking to make sure regarding the cost.Additionally an old address of mine was provided to the external lab so all of those bills have been going to an outdated address and didn’t catch up with me until I had 900$ of bills in collections. I am working to pay this off incrementally because it’s equivalent to my rent and was insanely unexpected 8 months after the appointment.I have called the office multiple times in an attempt to speak about this billing and have yet to resolve anything. I have multiple times asked to speak with Dr Berk or someone else who would be able to explain to me how they let this happen after I was so clear about the financial concerns I had and my interest in keeping the process in network. I am more than frustrated at this point and have decided to write about my experience here for others to be aware of the disconnect that is happening at this particular practice.

I had a very amazing first visit with Elizabeth Russeau the nurse practitioner. I have struggled with acne and acne scarring for years. The plan she came up with for me has significantly made my skin better in a short period of time. She was very attentive and reassuring along with her bedside manner. Thanks so much Elizabeth!!

I have been going to Dr Berk for many years. He always asks if I have any concerns and checks the areas on my skin that worry me in addition to doing a full body check for problems that I might not have noticed.

This was my first time ever seeing a dermatologist. I was greeted by several staff members who checked me in and took my insurance information. While waiting for my turn to be called back to see the doctor I overheard the receptionist answering calls and she was extremely rude to the individuals on the other line (raising her voice and curt language). When meeting with Dr. Berk another individual came into the room with him but was never introduced. I expressed to Dr. Berk that this was my first time seeing a dermatologist. He looked me over so quickly and brushed past my questions. His demeanor was aloof and felt as if I was an annoying patient for coming in with no set skin issue. Dr. Berk left the room and the unknown individual was still there. She gave me an outdated pamphlet and told me I could leave once I got dressed. Today (appointment was in October) I receive my first invoice via email stating that I have a past due balance...where was my first invoice sent? Disappointed in my experience and the lack of bedside manner.

Ive been going to Skin Care Center for about 4 months now and its always a positive experience for me. The staff is always super friendly; they make the visits fly by! I see Dr. Sanchez and she is great! Shes very knowledgeable and really cares about my skin. I definitely recommend the Skin Care Center!

Dr Sanchez is amazing; very compassionate, knowledgeable and professional. Too bad you have to deal with the unpleasantness that is Stella in order to get to anyone else. Stella lacks any semblance of compassion for people seeking medical care. If you are looking for help or care from this clinic, hopefully you dont run into Stella, shell just leave a sour taste in your mouth and have you looking into other clinics.

It was easy to make an appointment. At the visit, the wait was only 10 minutes and the paper work took 2 minutes. The doctor and his nursing staff were thorough and had a pleasant demeanor. They asked questions beyond the scope of the exam, in oarticular about other skin problems.

Waited for an hour to be seen. This was during COVID, so they could only have 6 patients in the waiting room at once. They were so overbooked that I had to wait in the downstairs lobby for 10 minutes and then wait in a full waiting area for the other 50 minutes. All the while, Im listening to the receptionist (who was very nice and professional) book more appointments on the phone. Dr. Berk was nice, but Id rather go somewhere that isnt going to show such total disregard for my time.

Wait times are always too long; otherwise, I have no complaints. The support staff is excellent, and the doctor seems to know what he is doing.

Everyone there is professional and friendly. Place is immaculate and covid-smart.

I wish this office would schedule visits more realistically. Almost every visit, there is a substantial wait, generally more than 1/2 hour after the scheduled visit time, to see Dr. Berk.

Dr Sanchez-Palacio has pursued a winning strategy for keeping my very much sun damaged skin from developing into basal and squamous cell growths requiring invasive removal with less certain results. Although cryo is not a pleasant experience, we agreed that she would aggressively treat actinic keratoses (often two or three applications on the worst ones). My skin has greatly improved, and I have not required a surgical removal of a skin cancer in about a year. A big improvement for me. Anyone dealing with the results of prolonged and excessive sun exposure early in life would be well advised to consult with Dr Sanchez-Palacio about an intervention strategy that minimizes the progression of skin issues to serious problems. In addition, the doctor and her staff handle treatments in very professional and supportive manner.

Bit of a wait past my scheduled appointment, but everything else was quite professional and covid aware.

Don’t come here unless you want to pay hundreds of dollars for a single visit. Even if you’re “covered” by insurance. I’ve walked away twice now with insane bills. This has to be fraudulent.

Doctor told me to call back anytime to get this prescription refilled (a steroid cream for $7). A very rude lady over rhe phone informed me that doctor was no longer here and I needed to schedule a $150 appointment to get that cream, otherwise (even mid pandemic ) i would not be getting my medicine.

Awful customer service from the front desk to the medical professionals themselves. Rude and shady billing staff. Ridiculous pricing. Dr. Berk doesnt seem to care about anything else other than conducting unnecessary tests and making extra money off of that. Would not reccomend to anyone.

Unbelievable. I went in because of a rash and the doctor said it would probably go away in a few weeks. She asked if I wanted a biopsy done to be sure and I said sure. Of course now I have $165 added onto my bill (already $100) for this procedure. So a 10 minute doctors appointment turned into a $265 bill clearly because the doctor feels like it’s more important to bill for whatever she can than to actually share potential costs with patients and help them avoid unnecessary care. Avoid!

My primary doctor has recommended seeing Dr. Mark Berk. When I scheduled on Oct.1st someone has assigned me to be with another dermatologist which I was fine with since they were accommodating me to their schedule as early as possible. I have give all my information and finally the oct .9 set date as early as 945. Upon arrival, I was so disappointed. I check in and RECEPTIONIST asks for my info ID AND INSURANCE, turns out they do not take my insurance. There is the difference between blue cross mmi vs my Medicaid blue cross community health plan. Whoever took my information the first time fail to tell me that. Its amazing you come or travel so far and all you got is very less sympathy on your arrival and mistake they had made. Have they done this and took the time from the beginning thoroughly but instead the reception took information in a hurry. I would never be in this position. Thank to you facilities given advocate hospital and Dr.Mark Berk a bad name. Thanks receptionist for unpleasant work ethics!

It was my first (and last) visit here. I was made to wait 45 minutes in the exam room - in my underwear - until Dr. Berk came in only after I had put all of my clothes back on. Unbelievable.

The best practice Ive ever experienced. I have never had a billing issue of any kind, which makes this place already incredibly unique. Dr. Carqueville is wonderful. She is lovely to speak with, and has expertly performed everything from cosmetic treatments to surgical biopsies on me over the years and does better work than a plastic surgeon.

**AVOID THIS FRAUDULENT PRACTICE**They told my insurance company I had a procedure when it was only a 5 minute routine check up and now I need to deal with their office and insurance to clear billing. Avoid this place.Update - Ive had to call several times over the last 2 weeks, each time explaining the issue and waiting on them to resolve it. There is no progress and their patient services are terrible. Again, avoid this place at all costs.2nd Update - They are saying there were 2 ppl in the room who signed off on some freezing procedure. This is 100% a lie and they are trying to commit fraud which I will be reporting to my health insurance company. AVOID THIS SCAM CENTER.

I see Lisa at the Lake Forest office for psoriasis treatment. She has been instrumental in the improvement of my skin. She is very knowledgeable and gives clear cut explanation of what is happening. And - shes very friendly!

After a bumpy start with Dr. Sanchez- Palacios I was able to see Dr. Carqueville and loved her. The reason for a 2 star review is the office staff. On repeated occasions I have called in to request a refill or to follow up on testing. The office staff fails to send messages to the proper nurse or doctor and doesnt call back. When I call and complain office manager Stella will take over and get things done, promising things will change. To make the story short they dont change. I found out today Dr. Carqueville will be away for at least a year and therefore I will not be returning to The Skin Care Center. I must also mention the reception staff arent very friendly and it seems as though the nursing staff and reception staff do not get a long and it is visible with their cold demeanor toward each other.

I went into the office to get a check up after years of sun exposure as a Lifeguard. While I was there I asked about the cost of getting a skin tag removed. I know what my sisters doctor charges, but its a little bit out of the way to go there. They specifically told me they wouldnt charge me for one skin tag removal. They didnt even hesitate and pulled out the equipment. They have now been hounding me for months to pay $125 for the skin tag removal. This is completely unacceptable and the office staff calling refused to listen to me. The woman literally laughed at me when I tried to explain.

Never assume anything will ever run on time. Ive had 3 appointments here over the past 2 years. I have never seen a doctor until at least 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment. On one occassion it was 1 hour and 20 minutes. What a great way to waste your day sitting and waiting all this time for a 10 minute consultation. Id recommend going elsewhere.

I had an extremely poor experience with this practice. I came in early for my 8:00 am appointment to fill out paperwork and provide insurance information (I was a new patient). A woman let me in and I sat in the waiting room. She then proceeded to go to the back where her and another woman began talking about me. They made snide remarks about me and said they refused to help me or check me in because I was early. One of them kept saying she would be nice and let me in, which was confusing because I was already in the waiting room and could in fact hear them. It was embarrassing and insulting. At almost 8:00 one of them came to the desk and asked if I was helped or checked-in, which I of course hadnt been because they refused.When I finally did see Dr. Sanchez-Palacios, she was only with me for about 5 minutes during which she interrupted and spoke over me the entire time. She didnt listen to what I had to say about my condition or treatment. I often had to correct her about my own treatment and goals because she wasnt listening to what I was saying. I was in and out of the examination room in 10 minutes.I will not be returning to this practice and would never recommend it to anyone. I was appalled at the lack of professionalism and care demonstrated by Dr. Sanchez-Palacios and the staff.

I chose Skin Care Center because they had good reviews, took my insurance, and were in a convenient location off public transit. Unfortunately, I left my appointment extremely disappointed.The front office team was polite and professional when I arrived. I had to wait a bit to be seen, but thats never bothered me.After I was called in, I explained my laundry list of skin issues and detailed what I had been doing so far to address them as the assistant/nurse practitioner/not really sure took down my information. Then I waited for the doctor, which was not a terribly long wait. Before the doctor entered I could hear she and the assistant discussing me in the hall outside the door. It seemed rather unprofessional and made me feel very uncomfortable.In total Dr. Palacios spent about 5 minutes with me. As I tried to talk with her about some of the issues Id been having she repeatedly cut me off and made little effort to listen to anything I had to say. She listed several prescriptions and didnt even attempt to address my other concerns before she left the room. The entire interaction I had with her left me feeling frustrated and unheard. She also forgot about one of the prescriptions and the assistant had to chase her down. I wasnt even given information about what I was even being prescribed or directions on how everything should be used- I had to ASK for that information.By the time I left the office I was so upset I wanted to either scream or cry. I will research and try some of the prescriptions, but I WILL NOT be making a follow-up appointment and will be looking for another dermatologist.When I make an appointment with a medical specialist I expect that they will take the time to listen and discuss my concerns with me like a human being- not rudely cut me off, speak over me, and rush through the visit. Based on the way I was treated, I would NOT RECOMMEND Dr. Palacios (I cannot attest to any of the other doctors in this practice) and honestly felt like I wasted my time and money. Never again.
