I was always intimidated by Cross Fit style gyms but my wife got me to try Windy City and now Im hooked. By far the best and easiest way to work out regularly. They have expert workouts + stretching so everything is taken care of for you. Plus both the staff and other members are all super friendly and you just feel great going there. Highly recommend!
The staff here is really fantastic, very accommodating to your level of fitness. Its also a good deal, and classes are included in the base subscription. In the end I decided that CrossFit wasnt for me, and I ended up going to a more traditional gym. But if you are interested in CF I would recommend Windy City wholeheartedly!
Phenomenal place. Great coaches, great members, top notch facilities, plenty of class times and open gym options. Its a truly great community of all levels, shapes, sizes, and ages doing their best to take care of their body and improve their life. Ask about a 3 day pass and give classes a try. If you need a place to show up, do work, and feel great, then this is it.
Windy City is my second home! I never thought I would say that about a gym, but its been a long journey to get to a point of working out consistently.I joined back in 2019 through the 6-week challenge. My husband had been going for several months, and after a lot of convincing I decided to give Windy City a try. I was super intimidated since Ive never done any real weight training, but the coaches broke down all of the core movements and made sure we all felt comfortable and safe before joining the group classes.Fast forward and weve been through virtual/at-home workouts through the lockdown last year, modified class sizes, masks, etc. but Windy City has handled it all with grace. Theyre incredibly communicative and are quick to adapt. I love the staff, community and the workouts!
Great gym with well-structured classes, excellent instructors/staff and a welcoming community. Friendly competition is balanced with celebration of personal progress. Takes away the stress of planning challenging and engaging workouts. With the exception of elite athletes, most need only show up and try their best to progress.
My wife and I have been working out at Windy City since 2013 and have found it has made a huge impact on our fitness and overall health - more so than any other health club weve tried. The differences are the personalized training in a class setting and a varied mix of strength and cardiovascular routines. Participants ;run the gamut in terms of age, strength, and athleticism, but the atmosphere is friendly and non-competitive, and workouts can readily be scaled to suit anyones ability. Strongly recommended.
Windy City is an amazing gym! I was intimidated to join at first and didnt think I would be able to keep up with everyone else in the classes. But that nervousness went away after my first day thanks in part to the amazing coaches. They provide support, guidance on technique and motivate and encourage me to try my best. The community is also so fun and supportive. In the 8 months Ive been a member, Ive accomplished fitness goals that I never thought were possible and couldnt be happier with the results.
Best gym in the city. When you join Windy City you are joining a community of like-minded individuals and coaches who care about you. All levels of fitness are welcome here and there is no judgment and no pressure to follow anything or anyone.Highly recommended!
I have been coming here for almost two years now. I had hesitations on cross fit in general, and being part of this community has made any of those hesitations disappear. The coaches here are professional and super friendly. They did amazing during covid in keeping members informed, providing home workouts, and ensuring everyone felt safe as things opened back up.Windy City welcomes all levels of athletes as well. Whether someone is an experienced athlete or has never been to a gym, they will fit it in at windy city and feel welcome.I feel lucky that this organization is part of our community and look forward to seeing it grow!
Truly the Best place to workout. It’s big and spacious, and everyone is so friendly! So lucky I found this place. I have found some of my best friends here and I don’t think I’ll ever leave ❤️
The gym staff and community have been welcoming from my very first look into membership here. They go above and beyond to provide a quality experience and product for all members, regardless of skill or fitness level. Knowledgeable, skilled and above all else, genuine coaches and staff!
I’ve been a member at Windy City for 2 years and I’m a big fan. Having been at multiple other CrossFit gyms in Chicago, this has been my favorite. Programming is solid (I’m always improving), coaching is good and the staff/ownership is open to feedback. Plus the space is huge and there’s always enough equipment. Highly recommend.
Amazing coaches, community, and facilities. I am incredibly grateful to have found WCSC.The coaches are super encouraging and supportive of your goals. I’ve been impressed by their ability to strike the right balance of encouraging us to push our limits, while also not overdoing it at risk of injury. There’s a great focus on establishing the right foundation in movements/form, before we start increasing the weight as well.During COVID-19, I’ve really valued their approach to keeping everyone engaged as well (virtual workouts, happy hours, challenges, etc.). There has also been an emphasis on following (and even being more cautious in some cases) the guidelines set forth by the state/city as they’ve gradually reopened with each phase.Couldn’t have wished for a better place! Highly recommend to those who are looking to join a great gym with exceptional coaches, team, facilities, and community.
Walked in brand new to strength training. Felt completely welcome from the get go. From a great onboarding process to being able to now, many years later, being able to throw down with friends.
BEST gym in the city! I cant say enough about WCSC. Theyre welcoming, friendly, knowledgable, community oriented and are there to help you achieve your health & fitness goals! Whether its in or outside the gym, the staff is there to support you 100% of the time. No matter your skill level or goals, they are here to help and welcome you into part of the family! Ive been going for over 3 years! Feels like my second home
Truly a great gym. The coaches and staff are awesome, there is a great community, people are friendly and it’s huge, plenty of room for everyone.Highly recommend!
If your looking for a high quality strength training gym that has a great mix of strength and conditioning exercises... I can’t recommend WindyCity enough. Great people, great work outs.
Very welcoming and responsive staff that takes time to get to know you and provides immediate solutions to any issue you may have. Facility is very clean and stocked with everything you need to stay fit and have fun.
The coaches care and the place is just awesome. Tons of variety, tons of good energy, great way to get in shape and stay in shape.
This is a great gym. The facility is clean and the staff is awesome. The classes are challenging for anyone regardless of skill level.
WCSC has a very professional team and a great space. The equipment is perfect for what I do, and the parking/neighborhood is second to none.
This is a great, safe place for an intense work out! It is a great community with lots of support for every level of athlete.
Great team! They make you feel welcome from the start and really want to see you succeed.
Been training here for almost 2 years now and absolutely love it. Great facility and a great community!
Top notch programming and coaching -- theyre ready to meet you wherever youre at with fitness, and then help you get where you want to be.
Im having way too much fun at this place, and making good progress thanks to the dedicated, knowledgeable staff and the rest of the community.
12 year member. Its the best in the city. LOVE the staff, the programming, the facility, and the members.
The best place to do CrossFit in Chicago, this Gym is amazing and the people are friendly with beautiful energy.
Great members, friendly staff, very clean/COVID-safe protocols, tough workouts!
Great gym with friendly, knowledgeable staff and tons of space for structured class workouts or open gym
I have been going to gyms for all of my life and this is my favorite one. Fun, organized and full of knowledgeable staff.
Truly the best gym around! Such a friendly environment and coaches help with adjusting workouts to meet your needs so much!
Is there a way to give 6 stars? This is more than a gym, it’s a community! I joined almost 2 years ago now and my experience continues to be nothing but amazing.
Windy City has been great. Supportive and friendly.
Amazing gym with lots of open space, great coaches and great community!
Awesome coaches! Super friendly community!
Great team and really fun workouts.
Staff is great and always willing to help
Where to begin! I feel like I need to describe myself and what I am looking for. I am a professional Irish dancer, and I decided a year ago to add some cross training into my routine. I started out paying about $950 per month (at least) doing personal training at another gym. Something that I would highly recommended for anyone. But right now, I am not working as much and if I could barely afford it then I sure as hell couldn’t afford it now.So after moving to Chicago I decided to look into someplace where I could train on my own, but also take classes to help with my total body strength. After searching online for a few weeks and calling multiple other gyms I decided on Windy City Strength and Conditioning. I always had wanted to try CrossFit and I thought the classes in general would give me the kind of workouts I was looking for.The first two sessions you learn about basic weightlifting terminology and technique and get a feel for the gym. After that I started taking classes, and was hooked pretty quickly.Every singe instructor I have had so far... Bradley, Taylor, and Esther have been amazing. They are really knowledgeable and explain things really well. Even though I am new to CrossFit I have never felt like I was “lost” during class! They also walk around the room during the workouts and encourage everyone to work their hardest. There are many different levels of fitness for everyone who attends the classes but it always feels like a team environment and encouraging!! I have been to many different gyms/classes and have never felt a sense of comradery as strong as I feel here! Also, Am I getting results... yes! I was looking to add more upper body strength and become more explosive and sharp, and increase my endurance with my dancing! It’s only been two months and I am already seeing results in these areas, and even more excited to see my body change in the coming months/years.
Great gym and incredible community.
Great staff, community, and facility.
Since training at Windy City, I am truly excited not only about discovering what I am capable of, but the road to travel to get there. The coaches at Windy City have fostered and encouraged that and have been instrumental in that through their genuine care, guidance and friendship. I have met wonderful people and made lifelong friends who always share in the fun and banter. Everyone is always so welcome and you really feel that and I particularly notice it when we have drop ins from other cities and countries. I am a freelancer and often after a training session hang out in the lounge area and get some work done. It’s definitely my second home!!
Amazing gym! Great workouts! Super friendly and helpful staff!
AMAZING facility, expansive schedule, and GREAT people. Easy to drop in if youre traveling (which I was) but if youre local I would jump on this place in a heart beat. I was blown away by the size, equipment, and staff. If I ever get relocated to Chicago I know exactly where I will train.
Joining Windy City has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Ive been a member for just over two years and it has become my second home. The coaches are amazing and the other members are incredibly friendly and encouraging. I have been challenged to get out of my comfort zone and am never bored with the workouts. If you are looking for an amazing place to work out, meet new friends and challenge yourself daily, Windy City is the place for you.
The staff are wonderful!!
Going to the gym has always been boring to me, till I joined Windy City. The coaches are knowledgeable and encouraging. Everyone is welcoming and I have met many wonderful people there. I have been feeling the difference since I joined and I can honestly say that its been a life changing experience.
I just finished the six week challenge, and cannot recommend this place enough!! Ive really enjoyed the thoughtful patient instruction, the actual workouts, and the sense of community Ive felt since walking through their doors. I lost a significant amount of weight and body fat percentage in a short time, and gained soo much knowledge and better habits regarding diet and exercise. So glad I did this and very happy to continue on as a member. Thank you guys!!
Windy City Strength and Conditioning has been one of the best therapies in my life. The last 2 years haven’t been easy but having the help of this gym first pulled me out of my funk and later kept me going when things got tough. I’m a Happier, Healthier and Stronger individual because I’ve stuck with this group, thank you Windy City for the last couple of years. They have an array of options for all athletes and doesn’t simply focus on the sport of CrossFit, they welcome all who want a chance to feel better in anything they do in life. They have it all under one roof, from the high school student who wants get better at their sport, to the pregnant housewife, to military training, and finally to a business professional like me who just wants to feel better everyday.
I found Windy City Strength & Conditioning in March 2018 by way of the 6 week challenge. In this short program, I noticed tremendous results in terms of improved body composition but, more importantly, getting back to something I really enjoyed with healthy and fitness. Fast forward to today and I have completed two Murph’s, one CrossFit Open and continued with their exceptional nutrition program. All the benefits that come with training at WCSC, discipline, feeling of accomplishment, general sense of well-being, support system, making new friends, all helped me to achieve my fitness goals and translated into me achieving all that I am living today.Windy City, all of the coaches and members, have had such a positive impact on my life in a relatively short period of time…and I will forever be grateful for that.
WCSC was the best decision I made for my overall physical/mental health. Having been out of competitive swimming for so long, some things dont change and an aggressive appetite was one of them. I did the 6 week challenge back in May of 2018 I lost roughly 21lbs and for the first time, I knew how to confidently eat healthy through their program and was able to learn how to workout efficiently on dry-land. Throughout my journey with WCSC Ive lost a total of 31 lbs. The people there are great, the coaches are supportive and want to see you succeed. Justin has put together a great program where you learn, get in great shape and build great bonds with others who have the same goals as you. Kudos to WCSC coaches and staff! Thank you for everything!
I have been a member at WCSC for almost a year. I have really enjoyed the atmosphere and customer service. One aspect that I have always enjoyed is that it is such a large space. As a member I can go in at any time of the day and complete a workout on my own at my own convenience. Many CF gyms do not offer this opportunity, and this is what makes Windy City so unique.
Great gym!
After our old gym closed down a little over a year ago, my husband and I visited several CrossFit gyms in the city looking for a new home gym. The first time we walked into Windy City we were impressed not only by the size of the gym but also the overall vibe. Everyone we talked to that day were very friendly, and we thought this might be the gym for us. At the time I was going through treatment for breast cancer and I knew I would have to pause my membership a few times for upcoming surgeries. We had a long talk with Justin, the owner, who was so helpful and understanding. We decided Windy City was the place for us. All the coaches and staff have been so helpful and understanding about my medical issues, from scaling the workouts, to just reminding me to slow down and not push myself too hard. I think the best part about Windy City is the community. We really support and cheer each other on inside and outside of the gym. There are a lot of CrossFit gyms in Chicago, but I think Windy City is a really special place!
Ive been a member at Windy City since April 2008 and cant say enough good things about this place. I was in and out of gyms my whole life and felt lost in most gyms. Then I found Windy City. Their classes are like personal trainers who teach me all the movements and program a variety of workouts so I dont have to invent my own. I owe a lot of thanks to Justin and his team of coaches because Im in the best shape of my life (and Im not getting any younger). If youre considering joining a CrossFit gym, definitely check this place out, even if another is closer.
I have been a member of Windy City Crossfit for almost two years now, and I absolutely love it. All the coaches are fantastic, and are very good about demonstrating proper form and helping you scale a workout, if needed. For the past nine months or so, I have been taking the Olympic Lifting classes, and though I may not be very strong, nothing makes me feel like more of a bad ass then lifting a few more pounds compared to last week, or really nailing a particular technique. I definitely plan on sticking around for a while!
I joined WCSC 6 weeks ago for their 6 week challenge, with a goal to start the year right. I ended the 6 week challenge feeling healthier, stronger and committed to keep going. I feel accomplished after every workout here and cannot wait to continue do so! If you are looking for a little motivation and a push to get into shape, this is the place.
Tried several crossfit gym in the city before finding WCSCs 6 week challenge in 2017 and couldnt be happier with my decision. I feel healthier and stronger then I have in a very long time. I have kept off the 15+ Ibs 10% body fat off and continue to go 5 days a week. The coaches are great at teaching good technique and help you scale (modify) the WOD (work out of the day) . the make coming to class challenging yet fun. I highly recommend this gym!
Upon first joining WCCF in 2009 I was instantly hooked. The coaching staffs encouraging demeanor and overall knowledge makes this a great place to be a part of. The community of members is wonderful, and makes you feel like you a part of something special. Could not give this place a higher recommendation, it is just amazing!
I dropped in from Canada on vacation and it was awesome. Great facilities, friendly people, friendly and well versed coaches. Ill drop in again given the chance!
Before I joined Windy City, my life was in a big lull. I was unhappy with the way I felt emotionally and physically. I knew i needed to make a big change and then I found and fell in love with Windy City Strength and Conditioning. The workouts, the community, and everything about this facility. I finally felt like myself again and have never been happier! I absolutely love being a part of this community and looking forward to the years to come here!
I joined WCCF about 5 years ago. With the help of their excellent coaching staff.. I have become a better athlete than I ever thought possible. Ive been to several other CrossFit gyms and this is hands down my favorite.
Shout out to Windy City Strength & Conditioning! The coaching, community and facility are all top notch. It’s also the only Crossfit Gym I’ve been to in Chicago where there’s enough space for classes, olympic lifting and personal programming to be going on simultaneously. I’ve been here for 3 years now, and still lovin’ it.
After considering the switch to Crossfit for over a year, I finally took the plunge. I find it daunting to join new groups so when I saw Windy Citys ad for a 6 week challenge, I knew it was the perfect way for me to immerse myself in something new. The coaches and staff all learned my name so quickly and everyone has been encouraging and supportive. Since I joined in early January, I have lost nearly 20 lbs, but I am much more excited by what I have gained: strength and a place where it feels like it matters if I show up.
I can pretty much call Windy City my second home. Its been almost 1 year since I have signed up. I have gained many new friends who all keep you motivated and pushing for more day by day. The coaches are very helpful for everything you do. No one likes to see an injury, so there alertness to your form is always an added bonus. If your doing the normal every day mediocre lifts at your local gym and are getting bored looking for a change Windy City is your next stop. Stay fit and healthy!
I joined Windy City Crossfit two years ago, searching for a break from the same old routine at the gym. I found it and then some. Not only do you get a variety of challenging workouts, but the staff there really focuses on proper form and technique to keep things safe -- and keep you on the right path toward fitness and strength improvement. And theres no need to feel intimidated because not only is everyone incredibly supportive, but the workouts of the day are completely scalable to whatever level athlete you are. This truly feels like a family, and how often can you say that about a gym?
I am 41 years old. I have been going to Windy City for over 8 years. I am a family wellness chiropractor, and I love the way they teach function at Windy City. I send my entire staff there too. I also love their sense of community. They really focus on #LIVEBIG which essentially means you work out so you can LIVE your life. They show pictures of members having healthy trips around the world, skiing or hiking, showing the benefit of living healthy. The coaches are well versed, and whether you are a mom with 3 kids, or a single male who just wants to learn how to do a muscle up, this gym (community) is for you! Its truly a family! The owners name is Justin Marcis, and he is an excellent leader. To all at Windy City...thanks for making our lives and community better!
I love Windy City CrossFit! Ive been a member for a year and Ive lost 75 pounds. The coaches are all awesome. At Windy City I get the opportunity to constantly push myself athletically.
I have been working out at WCCF for about a year now, and it has been a great experience. The community here is fantastic. Everyone is very encouraging and welcoming, and the environment is not intimidating at all. The gym is huge compared to some other Crossfit gyms in Chicago; there is plenty of space to accommodate the number of people in each class. The coaches are knowledgeable and friendly, push you to do your best, and encourage each member to set specific goals to work towards. Overall-- great facilities, fantastic coaches, and awesome people.
Dropped in for the Saturday team WOD and would highly recommend. Fully equipped and excellent coaching. Thanks for a great workout!
Great coaches, staff, and workout partners. They have a great space and setup.
Awesome!
WCCF is the most empowering marriage of elite, thoughtful and personalized training available with a refreshingly laid back, supportive culture. Ive been a member for almost four years and am always encouraged and motivated by the freshness and creativity of the workouts, the genuine care and friendliness of the highly-skilled coaching staff and the overall welcoming demeanor of the social culture. Its a training facility, its an extension of home and its an open-armed family. I enthusiastically recommend WCCF to anyone.
Ive trained at Windy City for several years now, and it is a top notch strength and conditioning facility with terrific people. Over the years, my focus has shifted from general fitness to CrossFit to obstacle racing, and WCCF has always supported me in special ways. The physical space is terrific (and is about to be amazing with the new work they are doing), the coaches are all very knowledgeable, exceedingly friendly and approachable, and I count owner Justin Marcis as one of my go-to gurus for dialing in my training.
I joined WCCF in 2012 looking for a new competitive outlet and for a new take on fitness. Over the past two and a half years, Ive not only gotten both of those things, but Ive become part of a welcoming and dynamic community that pushes me to be better both in and out of the gym. The gym membership is comprised of people of all ages, with different athletic backgrounds and different goals, all of which are catered to by the coaching staff, who is dedicated to creating and sustaining and environment that fosters self-improvement and encourages people to challenge themselves at their own pace. Since I started at WCCF, its become a second home for me; from the actual workouts and coaching to the friendships formed and individual growth its spurred, I could not have asked for a better experience; without a doubt the best choice for those looking to embrace a health and fitness lifestyle in Chicago.
I joined the Windy City Strength & Conditioning (WCSC) since I happened to see an advertisement for the 6-week Challenge Program, a program for people who want to lose weight. The participants need to drop either 20 lbs or down 5% of body fat at the end of the 6-week period in order to refund the deposit (you can turn the deposit to membership fee if you fail in the end). During the challenge period, you need to follow the diet instruction and attend three one-hour courses per week in the gym. I am so glad that I had made the right decision to join this challenge. By the end of the challenge, I lost a total of 17 pounds and down 6% of my body fat!The part I like the WCSC most is they have professional coaches and provide an excellent training environment for weight-lifting and muscle building. No matter you are new to weight training or professional athletics, you can benefit here. Also, they never force you to join the membership but just let you decide on your own pace. Another thing impressed me is that the staffs and coaches can remember everyones name even though he/she meet you for the first time! Anyway, I like WCSC, and I will strongly recommend any my friends who want to start workout to this gym!!
The best CrossFit gym Ive ever attended; great space, fantastic programming, amazing coaches
If youre looking for a great Crossfit gym in Chicago, Windy City is the place to be. It has a HUGE space with tons of equipment, and a large variety of classes to choose from, including classic Crossfit, Olympic Lifting and conditioning. The coaches are all knowledgeable and skilled, and they genuinely take an interest in helping you achieve your goals. Its also a great community, and youre sure to make some new gym buddies. I have been a member for two years, and WCSC always makes working out enjoyable and exciting.
After trying many different gyms and workouts, I’m a big fan of Windy City CrossFit. A bit about me – I am by no means an athlete, and when I started working out here I was pretty out of shape – and now, I’m seeing great results.Pros of this gym:-you get results, period. It’s a fantastic workout. Super hard? Yes. Gets results? Yes.-the instructors. I’ve mostly had Erik (aka Doc), Tony, JP, and John, and they are all really fantastic. It’s like having a personal trainer, but way cheaper. They take the time to help you with your form, and help you scale up or scale back the workout if need be (for me, it’s usually scaling some parts back!)-the variety. Every day is different, and it keeps you interested, unlike other types of workouts I’ve done (I’m looking at you, a certain gym named after a color and a pseudo-scientific theory)-the community. The folks that attend this gym are super diverse – age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability. Yes, there’s a group of folks that are at an elite level, but as a non-athlete I don’t feel at all out of place.-the availability of classes. I have never had to leave a class because it was too full. They offer a ton of classes at different times, so you don’t have an excuse.-the staff. Annie is often at the front desk and is one of the nicest humans you’ll ever meet. Sheena was the gym manager when we joined and was super helpful.-the kids area. We have a 4 year old who we bring to the gym, and they have a great kids area where he can play and watch us workout (it’s not supervised child care, but it’s worked great for us because our son can see us and holler if he needs anything).-the little things. They have small towels for working out, bath towels if you want to shower, hair ties for dummies like me that forget to bring a hair tie – they just make it easy.Cons of this gym:-the cost. I’m a little weary to name this as a con, because I actually think it’s *more* expensive to pay $20 a month for a Planet Fitness that you never use, and you don’t cancel because it’s so cheap. CrossFit is not the least expensive option out there, but based on my experience, it’s the most effective.-the parking. It’s usually not bad and you can get a spot (the gym is right off Ravenswood by the metra tracks) but early evening it can get busy.Overall, we’re really glad that we joined and happy to be part of this community.
Great box aka gym, I love the coaching staff, great guys and gals, the encouragement you get from them to push your the end of WOD. If you cant do a workout, coach will modify for something else.
I joined Windy City in January of 2015. When I walked in the door the first time I had a mixture of feelings. I had been focused exclusively on running for the previous 8 years and was burnt out. I felt out of balance physically. I looked around and saw people lifting really heavy weights with ease. It was more than a little intimidating. It was also exactly what I needed. Every day was something new with exercises I had never done before (hang squat what?) or something I had never even thought about doing (you want me to do a handstand AND THEN a vertical push-up? Are you nuts?). I felt challenged in ways that I only realized in hindsight I had been missing. Training and exercise became fun again. The coaching staff is fantastic. In addition to being technical experts when it comes to correct form for weightlifting and gymnsatics movements, they are all excellent at teaching and giving actionable feedback. Every person has different athletic capabilities and they are able to tailor things to the individual. Every single point of feedback Ive gotten is something I can immediately take action on (and feel the difference in a given movement). In addition to their technical expertise, they are also great people and share a lot of themselves with the community at Windy City. Ive learned so much from them as individuals just from getting to know them and watching how they handle their own CrossFit journey.I can’t say enough positive things about the Windy City community. It is unlike anything I had experienced before. There is an energy that I feel the moment I walk in the door. That energy level just skyrockets for events like Murph, the Crossfit Open, or special workouts like the 12-days-of-Christmas.Windy City helped me re-discover the balance in my training that was missing. I feel like I’m in better shape than I was in my 30s (or for that matter, my 20s).
Windy City Strength and Conditioning completely transformed the idea of simply “going to the gym” for me. Thanks to the coaches, programming, and facility I no longer view the gym as a box I need to check each day, but rather an exciting part to my week that I look forward to.
During my last 4 years of attending Windy City Crossfit (WCCF) Ive felt and seen a transformation. Physically Im stronger, faster and in better shape than I have ever been but its the mental and emotional improvements that are the most rewarding. Everyday that Im attending the gym I look forward to it. Oddly enough, its the space I go when I need to relax. The social atmosphere coupled with the intensity of the workouts makes WCCF a truly unique an remarkable place.
After years of running, I had faced a number of injuries and was looking for something to vary my routine and improve my fitness. Windy City CrossFit has exceeded my expectations on every level. I’ve been a member since February 2012 and still look forward to going to class as much as I did when I started. The WODs are varied, fun and appropriately challenging regardless of your fitness level. The WCCF coaches are knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. They understand everyone’s individual capabilities, help to modify each workout (if necessary) and push you to achieve more. Not only are the coaches amazing but the entire community is supportive and friendly. I could not be happier with my decision to join Windy City CrossFit.
WCCF offers people looking to get healthy and fit a myriad of options, all of which will get you results. I have been a member since April 2010, and my fitness goals have changed several times over the past four and half years as my career and life commitments have evolved. With every change in my schedule and my goals, WCCF has had a program that works for me, motivates me, and makes me feel good about my progress. CrossFit, weightlifting, gymnastics, conditioning, nutrition, FST - the coaches offering these services are knowledgeable, talented, dedicated, and want to help you. The community of athletes at WCCF also cant be beat. I wish they offered lifetime memberships!
Starting any new process can be challenging - that being said, the coaches make it easy and simple to pick up from whatever fitness level youre on. I have been going to Windy City Crossfit for just under a year. What surprised me the most was every workout can be altered to the best of your ability. I wasnt in the best shape and really wanted to make a change in my fitness. What drew me the first month was everyone at WCCF was supportive, from the staff to other members. Everyone cheers you on (even if youre the last one finishing up a tough WOD -- and most of them are brutal...in a good way)Like all aspects of life; you get what you put in. WCCF is outstanding if youre serious about being in better shape and looking great if youre willing to put the time in.
Ive been a member at WCCF since September of 2011. Before starting crossfit in 2010 I had virtually no athletic background to speak of. Before Windy City I had been a member at 2 different boxes and this place is by far my favorite. There are crossfit boxes and there are crossfit boxes. Once I got past my initial cult-like obsession, I started realizing whats really important when it comes to the place youre going to invest your time and money into when it comes to being happy and healthy. I love our coaches and I think the general programming here is very responsible and conducive to developing an athlete for the long term with minimal injury. If a member has a specific goal they want to shoot for, whether it be pure strength, trying to be more competitive, or whatever their priority might be, there is a wealth of knowledge available by way of individual programming (as I have recently been experimenting with and love). Im the strongest and fastest Ive ever been. Between the satisfaction I get from the progress Ive made and the friendships Ive made from our awesome community, all I can say is that I really, really love this place.
Before joining this gym, Id been lifting weights at regular gyms for 5 years or so and even though my muscle mass increased, I was always stuck lifting the same weights and not getting any stronger. Ive been going to Windy City Crossfit for 15 months now and my strength, endurance and overall physical fitness have improved dramatically. The highly trained coaches from this gym taught me how to lift correctly, showed me new movements and lifts I would never think I would do (handstand push-ups, clean and jerk, snatches, etc.) and how to perform them safely, how to stretch and avoid injuries, among other very useful fitness knowledge. Apart from the typical crossfit workouts, the gym offers additional programs that you can sign-up for to improve strength and flexibility, gymnastic training, olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, go-ruck training program as well as individual programing if requested. I have benefitted from some of these programs and I am still amazed how my level of fitness keeps changing and improving. Also, the atmosphere of the gym is super friendly and supportive, which motivates me to go in on a regular basis. Highly recommend this place at whatever fitness level you are on.
I joined WCCF in February of 2013 admittedly because I walked by it on my way home from work and I figured the proximity would encourage me to go everyday. I also joined thinking that it would help me get in shape, which it undoubtedly has, but I cannot express how much WCCF has also changed my body image and my mental health, as well as my strength. Not only was the WCCF community welcoming, the workouts and coaching completely changed my view of fitness and health. I have been taught by some of the best about how to best fuel and treat my body, and as a result I feel better, look better, and have a better body image than I ever did before starting crossfit. Oh, and I can lift more than I would have ever thought possible -- all while working out with people who quickly became friends.I have rather serious back issues resulting from an accident about 15 years ago, limiting what I have been able to do physically in the past. The coaches here have been nothing short of amazing -- modifying workouts so I dont strain myself and watching closely to make sure Im not doing anything that could aggravate my injury. Its that combination of professional expertise and genuine caring that makes WCCF so different than any other place Ive worked out.Crossfit sometimes gets a bad rap for being cultish, but I dont think thats the case at all here at WCCF. They just have a happy, dedicated group of clients who keep coming back because of the great coaching and support they receive. If I could give WCCF more than 5 stars, I absolutely would.
Ive been an active crossfitter and a member of WCCF for a little over 2 years now and have loved every minute over. Crossfit has changed my life and Windy City has become like a second home to me (obvious by the fact that everyone is always asking if I actually live there). From the hands on coaching, to the outstanding programming, to the relationships youll form there, WCCF is the perfect place to crossfit.
I came to WCCF in 2009 in order to improve my fitness and quickly learned that WCCF was more than just a gym. WCCF is a place that challenges me personally and offers the opportunity to work with people who share a common goal- to live an inspired life. While Chicago provides a great deal of access to Crossfit, and fitness in general, WCCF undoubtedly ranks among the best. If you truly want to challenge yourself to become better in all aspects of your life, join up.
I have been a member of Windy City CrossFit (WCCF) since April 2010. I have never beem more motivated to work out since joining WCCF! One of my recent posts on the blog sums up how I feel about the community. I am so thrilled and honored to be Athlete of the Month this month. I cannot begin to express how the last three years at WCCF has changed my life! You have gotten me through some of my most difficult life events. WCCF isnt just a box, it is a fabulous community of amazing people. You have been there through the blood, sweat, and tears (literally and figuratively) and for that I will be forever grateful. Great coaching for Olympic Lifting, nutritional counseling, and, of course, CrossFit programming!
I have been active in fitness my entire adult life. i started experimenting with various workout routines about 15 years ago and found the combination of exercises that crossfit provides to be the most complete fitness program there is. not all crossfit gyms are the same however and i have found that windy city crossfit does a great job of getting the most out of fitness for each of its members. the instructors are active and very knowledgable. the atmosphere is very positive and the community within the gym is upbeat and helpful. the gym focuses on improving each members fitness and recognizes the challenges that the broad spectrum of members presents in obtaining a quality fitness program for each member. the gym starts its members in a foundations class which teaches the basics of crossfit and provides the new members with a solid knowedge and the ability to successfully perform crossfit routines. the staff is expert in modifying and altering programs for all levels of fitness. noone is overwhelmed with volume or load. additionally members efforts and results are constantly being positively reinforced by the staff. i have visited many crossfit gyms over the last several years and have found this gyms management and staff to be the most aware of its members needs. i highly recommend anyone looking to improve his or her fitness to stop in for a consultation and start a foundations class.
The original CrossFit gym in Chicago. Great community!
Great gym. Great coaches
