I have been a member here for about a year now! The trainers are AMAZING! They are willing to go above and beyond to help you with fitness, form, and nutrition. They are super motivating and willing to listen. Even during the pandemic they have been running virtual live workouts and are always focused on helping you reach your goal! The workouts are 30 minutes but they are no joke! I highly recommend anyone to join this gym! The community is great, people and coaches alike!!
I worked out here for over a year. Due to pregnancy complications I am having to take a hiatus and I miss it. However, really like the short, high- intensity workouts. Fitness instructors are great. They keep it fun and interesting - theme days, special classes, etc. Also, people who workout here are health conscious but normal which I appreciate.
I was a member for about 2 and half years. The turnover of staff is very high, by the time you know someones name they are already leaving. There was one gym manager that was helping me and other members reach our goals by really having us commit to measurements at the gym and gave us recipes on how to eat better. He encouraged me when he had not seen me in a week or so and made an effort. The owners on the other hand did not. They would get to know you by knowing your facebook. It became impersonal and not a family like they sold it to me.The workouts are amazing! The trainers are amazing! The price really really high for the lack of commitment on the owners end.
Chicago Fit Body Boot Camp is a phenomenal choice for your health and fitness. From absolute beginners to more advanced enthusiasts, they deliver the motivation, guidance, education and most importantly, the results! And all in 30 minutes!
I have been going to classes at Fit Body since they opened 2 1/2 years ago and cannot imagine going to another gym. The staff is wonderful: owners Dave and Kristen pay great attention to every member, making sure to celebrate each members growth, and the trainers Gino, Dennis, and Marcus are incredibly encouraging and attentive, making sure to always correct peoples form to prevent injury and motivate the members to work harder. The members are wonderful and encouraging, making Fit Body feel like a family. The workouts are constantly challenging but go by quickly. I have seen myself go from an uncoordinated mess who could barely do a push up to someone who loves to work out. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a challenging but effective workout.
30 minutes of high intensity and accessible workouts! I was a beginner when I started and the coaches supported me at my own pace! I feel stronger and healthier than ever, it’s my favorite class in the city! I attend 3-4 times a week and have seen some awesome results!
The entire Fit Body Boot Camp team works hard to provide a fitness experience that is second to none! Not only does the entire team help clients attain their goals through challenging 30-minute workouts, but they provide support when youre not at the facility through various means like Facebook, texts, calls, newsletters, and more. In addition, they check-in on people who havent been into the gym in a few days. The people you meet at the facility are awesome! Youre not just another number at this facility, youre part of a Fit Family, which makes it so much easier to get in shape and stay on track. Not only do they help clients reach my fitness goals, but also its clear that they want to create a positive shift in the local communities and throughout the world. In the fall, the team and members collected over 3,000 canned goods and donated it all to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. They also do a toy drive every holiday season for Toys for Tots. Great workout and great people that support a great cause!
Please note the two reviews with last name Bostik are the owners of the gym. Please discount their reviews for that reason.I had been a member of this gym for a few years. I should have noticed the writing on the wall shortly after I joined, that the owners were negligent in running a business. When a current member refers a new member they are supposed to receive a $60 referral bonus. I was encouraged to join by my wife who had been a member for over a year before I joined. However, the owners decided that she was not entitled to the referral bonus after we had been informed that we would receive it. I was willing to overlook that, based on the fact that the trainers were so great (Gino, Tim and Marcus at that time and Dennis later). After being a member for a few months I noticed a lot of members asking for more equipment, to try and push themselves harder during the workouts (heavier dumbbells etc). It took months and months of begging before any new equipment was added, meanwhile the other gyms owned by the same people had gotten equipment better than Northcenter. The other gyms wouldnt exist if it wasnt for Northcenter. The same was true for broken equipment, it would sit in the office for months before being replaced, which made getting a good workout in, nearly impossible when you were handicapped by broken and insufficient equipment. I believe the heavy bags are still not hanging in the gym, for several YEARS now. It was clear at that point the only thing the owners cared about was the monthly fees coming out of my bank account. The only reason I stayed as long as I did was the connections I made to the trainers and other members. The owners became more and more removed from the gym; which was very evident when they fired the one original trainer left, Gino. The owners created a lie about Gino wanting to move out of Chicago so they were going to help him. The only people they were helping was themselves. The response they received after firing Gino was far more negative than they thought, showing their ignorance towards the members at the gym. Gino was the main reason people came to the gym and stayed at the gym.Save your money for a gym that cares about their staff and members; and have prudent owners that understand the happiness and atmosphere of the gym is why people will keep coming back. There are plenty of gyms that are not nearly as restrictive with hours and classes being taught. God forbid you would have to work after 5 PM. They had a great gym, but they decided to ruin it with lies and carelessness.
I was a member for three years. I was extremely involved, brought friends in and got my husband to sign up too. We attended at least three times a week, typically more and cannot express how much we adore Trish (past admin) Tim, Gino and Dennis (past trainers). They were genuine, caring and kind in addition to kicking my butt at every workout. The members and trainers became my family. It was my happy place. If I could choose to be anywhere, Id be there. However, weird things started happening. I won a challenge and my gift was an expired gift card to a place that was only open during the weekday from 9-5 so even if it wasnt expired, there was no way anyone with a job could use it. When I mentioned this to the owners. Nothing. When I won another challenge it took months to get my prize and I only got the one I did is because one of the trainers put up a huge fight about it because I had been screwed over before. The prizes aside, the owners were rude and inappropriate. I was in the best shape of my life, a size 0, toned and gaining muscle but as I was, my weight was going up. One night I came in and Kristen told me to weigh in. My weight was up from the previous week by two pounds. Her response was, is this your way of telling us youre pregnant? Yup. A fitness professional, and I use that term lightly because she had no formal experience or certifications, told me that I must be pregnant because a size 0 weighed in at 128 lbs. I was upset, hurt and angry. That is so inappropriate and unprofessional. Every time Dave and Kristen were there, the mood was awful. Then, as all of my favorite people started leaving a long time member became a trainer. He was great at what he did and a fabulous sales person. He was let go for no good reason and now, just recently, the same thing with the most dedicated, kind person, Gino. Its complete BS. I was actually considering rejoining last week for a few months to get back on track since I heard that Dave and Kristen were not around anymore but when they let Gino go, forget it. They then lied to members telling them that he wanted to leave to move to Miami when he JUST got an apartment in Chicago and is by no means considering moving. Then after members got upset for them letting Gino go, Dave posted the most unprofessional thing on the member website whining about how the members werent being fair to him. What kind of business owner, or adult with any job for that matter, thinks that it an appropriate way to handle the situation? Im so disgusted by how this business is run and frustrated that a place that I loved so much is somewhere I would never return to again. If you want a good trainer, check out Tim at Orange Theory, Dennis at FFC or Gino who is working out of his apartment in CHICAGO.
Community, badass 30 minute workouts so Im in and out, nutrition. They got it all! Love this place! Staff and trainers are awesome, know what they are taking about, and actually care about their members. Come join for the fun, leave with results like me!
The staff is awesome (props to Mike and Gino), the workouts are always interesting and challenging (smurf jacks...), and the nutrition coaching has been super helpful. I just finished my six-week back-to-school challenge, and I think that instead of calling it a back-to-school challenge, it should be a called back-to-life challenge, because the gains Ive made in six weeks have made me feel like I have my life back.
I want to start off by saying Ive been at FBBC North Center for 16 months. I absolutely love the members and the trainers and have always felt welcomed by them. That being said I have never come across two owners who are more out of touch with the daily operations of their business and their clients.Shortly after I joined it became clear from veteran members that many of them disliked the owners but loved the trainers. Since the Dave and Kristen rarely came in I didnt think to much of it because I personally didnt have to deal with them. As time went on and different challenges or contests happened I noticed many members complaining about how rules werent clear and prizes werent awarded. Being that members pay a fee on top of their membership to participate in the challenge you would think the rules would be very clear and prizes would go out immediately. I have heard multiple members complain about equipment needing to be replaced but again my experience out weighed little things like that so I didnt mind.now lets get to the sticky part.......Summer 2018 a trainer approached me about coaching a run club they have during the summer months. I happily accepted the opportunity to spend more time with my new fitness community and share my passion for running. Fast forward to February 2019 one of their higher ups approaches me about becoming a trainer. After a few conversations I was on board. I was told I needed to get certified as a personal trainer and that I needed to do some shadowing, it all sounded pretty legit. I did what was asked of me and by the time Run club season rolled around I was coaching Run Club every other weekend and shadowing on the opposite weekends. I posted regularly on FB which is something they require of trainers and was doing my best to personally introduce myself to every member. I hosted Run club from multiple locations to create and promote the sense of community they wanted. I believe Kristen one of the owners calls it our Fitbody family. My certification cost me about $1500 and shadowing took several hours of valuable time with my family, I am a single mother and time with my kids is important. June 2019 a part-time female trainer is hired which I thought was odd because after multiple conversations about my career path with the company an actual hire date still hadnt been set. I tried to reach Dan Ward the person I was told was in charge of trainers but hes an incredibly difficult person to nail down. It was another trainer who finally told me what I needed to hear which he got straight from the source that was avoiding me, they had no intention of hiring me. This was a big blow considering only days before Dave (owner) had come in while I was leading a class and complimented me on my work. This is a man whom I sent a very lengthly message to expressing my commitment to the members and Fitbodys vision.July 2019 Dave and Kristen fire a head trainer and higher up and to everyones surprise actually make up a lie about the trainer moving. The amount of controversy that has come from this decision makes my head spin. The reaction of Dave and Kristen however is so much worse. In a video made for the members only page Dave states that he feels attacked. Perhaps if he and Kristen had spent more time over the years listening to their members concerns and requests they wouldnt lash out in such a way (beach workout disaster). From someone that got a glimpse of both sides can honestly say Dave and Kristen are not people people and it makes me sad to know Ill never see some of the members again (because I refuse to set foot in any of their facilities again) but I think its time for myself and several other members to move on.I hope this experience teaches them not to illegally work people again and to listen to your members! Theyve been trying to reach you for much longer than even I know.
Fit Body Boot Camp is AWESOME! Since they opened their doors, I have attended several workout sessions (actually 2 on the first day because I loved it so much). None of the workouts have been the same; however, each workout has two things in common: a highly energetic fitness instructor as well as a high level of intensity. They do an amazing job differentiating workouts. If you have any ailments, they modify your workout accordingly, but still push you to give it your all. The activities range from box jumps to lunges to free weights to TRX to medicine balls and more! What I really like is how a warm up (active stretching), the workout, and the cool down (yoga and pilates positions) are all included in the 35-40 minute sessions. Workout sessions are well rounded, and because of it, I feel great after every session!Another thing I like about Fit Body is the accountability. Upon beginning, the owner, David Bostik and his staff, not just told me about the importance of consistently attending sessions, but also eating well. They set everyone up in a system where you can log your weight and body fat percentage weekly, write your goal(s), as well as what you will do for yourself as a reward when you attain your goal or what you will do if you dont (for example, do 75-100 burpees). This has forced me to be more conscious about what and how much Im eating. The Fit Body team also gives you a journal where you can track your activity and eating. They are committed to helping you while you are here as well as encouraging you to maintain healthy habits when you are not.Additionally, I love the sense of camaraderie. I am getting to know the other people in the session I attend. We often laugh throughout the sessions. Fit Body is a high energy and fun atmosphere for both males and females of all ages and sizes. I greatly enjoy hearing other people encourage each other to push through the workouts.I am addicted. Come check it out and see for yourself and youll become a Fit Body addict too!
