Worked with Marcus to lease a tripe for 2020 summer. Despite COVID hitting and my not ultimately staying at the Buckingham that summer, my experience with them was great, very accommodating and professional. Would highly recommend them for any student with an internship. Speaking with my peers and co-workers, Buckingham was always the first name mentioned for great housing in Chicago.

Is it possible to give ratings in the minus? cause thats exactly what I would do. This was literally the worst housing experience I have ever had! They did not accomodate any requests during the pandemic and I was forced to leave with nowhere to go. They also never refunded part of my security deposit that was left after they deducted the last months rent, which they still owe me. Its been almost a year since I left the place and I have been writing emails. This place is a huge scam and I still feel so angry while writing this review even though its been a year. Stay away if you can, Chicago has many other residential options. I would rather go homeless than rent with these frauds ever again.

My friend had a hard time living here with a medical condition, they did not approve an accommodation for 3 months and it declined her health a lot in serious ways. Definitely needs some improvement on prioritizing communication, but in the end they were able to come up with a reasonable accommodation, just not fast enough.

Last summer we met with Marcus for a tour of the building, he was very nice and informative. He showed us the amenities and a beautiful apartment with an amazing view. I couldnt believe this was student housing. They have a washer and dryer in every apartment! Colette helped with all the documents and patiently answered my million questions, she was very helpful during the move-in process. The management is super responsive if you need anything. The security guards are all very nice, its a safe environment in a perfect location.

I was going to give it 3 stars instead of 4 because the leasing process was so tedious and stressful and just such a huge hassle for me. For someone who is wanting to pay up, they sure do make it really difficult to do so. The website is super buggy and I experienced a lot of issues with it and as an international student had some trouble settling the issue with Guarantors. But my experience working with the leasing office staff there was what made me give it a 4. I worked with Colette and she was super quick to respond to all of my queries via email and was open to Skype (since I had to call internationally) and that really helped eased the worry. The Buck really needs to work on simplifying the leasing process... if it were not for the super prompt support that I got from Colette all the time I would definitely have given up and looked elsewhere to rent.

The Buckingham has been a great place to live as a summer intern! They offer a 3 month lease for the summer, which is hard to find when looking for summer housing. It is fully furnished and maintenance responds to requests quickly. There are also fun weekly events that Colette puts on to encourage community throughout the building with free food and fun activities. The security at the front desk is always friendly and helpful as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer at The Buckingham. I had the opportunity to live with good friends in a five person apartment and could not be happier. The management staff, especially Colette Green cater to any and all needs. They put on great events every week that bring together The Buckingham community. The building is located within manageable walking distance from many restaurants, the L train, and Millennium and Grant Parks. The cost of living is comparable to any other living facility in the area and the quality of rooms and amenities justifies the price. Highly recommend living at The Buckingham!

The buck is great! I have lived there for the past few years and I really enjoy it. Although it has some quirks and flaws, things like the amazing staff and the community events they hold are really amazing. In particular, Marcus and Gale have done a great job at making the Buckingham an amazing place to live. Marcus has always been on top of helping me out and communicating with me about leases; he really wants to help his returning customers out as much as he can. In addition, Gale is such a sweet, friendly, and helpful face to see at the security desk. She is constantly aiming to get to know my friends and family better and really knows how to maintain a great attitude on the job! They are truly some of my favorite employees at the buck by far!!!

UPDATE: Finally got a response from a nice young man who discovered they’d been sending the form to the wrong email address. See, that’s all it took. Thank you for finally responding.ORIGINAL: My son is planning to live at the Buckingham this summer. But if I am to judge the Buckingham based on its helpfulness and responsiveness, my experience so far is horrific. My calls go to an answering service. (I even called a special number given by a manager in response to a disgruntled customer in these very same reviews. Guess who answered? Yes, the very same answering service.) Their website messaging app is broken: Fill out a form only to get an error message each and every time. Send a text and it’s dead air. And this isn’t a day. This is weeks of trying: By my son who is calling from Spain, and me, right here in the US. My son is already committed. All we need is a form for the parents to sign. It was supposed to have been sent to us weeks ago. It hasn’t. You had one job. So is this quality of service he can expect when he moves in?

The Buckingham is amazing! Great central location to Chicago monuments, the lakefront and the business district. Being right next to the L, transportation to any part of the city is convenient and efficient. The apartments are bigger than expected and the rooms are more than expected from what we are paying. All utilities are included AND the apartment is fully furnished. I am pretty sure I can do kart wheels in both of our bathrooms they are so big. Great vibe if you want to be with the 19-23 year old crowd. Sky lounge has one of the coolest views in the city. Would not have wanted to live anywhere else.

Though my living experience at the Buckingham this summer was generally positive, my overall experience started out very negatively. The studio apartment I put down a $300 registration fee for was listed at $1219 a month. A good deal, I thought, almost too good to be true. But I went for it anyway. I called management to confirm another detail, and he adds, Oh, and we listed the wrong price for the studio on the website, its actually $1500 a month. I responded that I no longer was interested in the apartment, obviously, and that I wanted my registration fee back. He refused to give me back my registration fee and the rent I had agreed to. I thought I was trapped in a scam, but eventually after a month of calling and eventually threatening them with suit, I was able to get the apartment at $1219 a month. So based on this experience, I had low expectations for my summer at the Buckingham. However, it turned out to be fine. I enjoyed the several events for residents and the apartment was mostly functioning (the sink faucet sprayed everywhere). It was easy to get ahold of management when needed, the security guards were friendly, 24 hour package pickup, etc. I should say that the area is extremely loud; the above-ground L train has an intersection at the end of the block the Buckingham is on. Sometimes I would wake up to the screeches of it at 5am, and I was way up on the 22nd floor.

I highly recommend The Buckingham for any collegiate or post-graduate student for summer or year round leasing. Living here for a week has been simply delightful. Move in day was made simple with large cardboard boxes on rollers you can take in the elevators to transport all luggage in the easiest way possible. The security system requiring each guest swipe in and out makes me feel comfortable walking around the Buckingham 24/7. The washer and dryer in our room makes the chore of laundry easy and effortless. Our room felt fairly warm the first day of our move in, and after calling for management assistance to get our AC system to work, we were greeted by the kindest handyman within the hour to solve the problem. Every employee Ive come into contact with has gone above and beyond to answer any questions and assist my roomate and I in all ways possible. I am more than pleased with the Buckinghams amenities, security, and staff. After visiting my friends student living residences nearby, I realized the Buckingham surpassed those places on all levels. My mom couldnt be happier with my choice to live here as well. All in all, the Buckingham exemplifies a place of superior cleanliness, customer service, quality amenities, and safety. I give this place 5 stars.

Dont believe in these ratings. Management ask to write reviews mentioning their name before you leave. They are ripping you off. First they let you book two bedroom apartment. Then says that is not available and offer four bedroom apartment for same price. Four roommates, each paying $1399 per month in addition to $300 application fee. They even dont let you stay for 3 months in summer. You can find much cheaper places from facebook groups near the Loop. Airbnb is another option. STAY AWAY!!

I am living in a nightmare here! First, I moved-in to a very dirty apartment and then was matched with a roommate who brought her boyfriend to live with us and her loud friends are over most of the time. Not to mention that, aside from washing their dishes, she does ZERO cleaning!! o_o for example, she does not clean the sink or wipes off the tables after they cook or eat and never cleans the bathroom as if they don’t use it. This is extremely annoying to me. My past experience at this place was really great, because I was matched with the right people and the place was thoroughly cleaned before I moved in. This housing used to be good and it is why I returned a year later.I complained to the new management and still waiting for a solution. If you need a clean and quiet place to study and live and can’t take risks, look else where. I am not sure this is the place for you. It’s so arbitrary here- meaning your experience will entirely be dependent on your luck. I believe this inconsistency stems from not taking the “roommate matching” aspect seriously when it is the most important factor in student housings. It could make your experience great, but it could also make it a nightmare and the management won’t necessarily be of any help at this point.Unless they professionally clean the apartments for the new tenants and match them with compatible roommates, I do not recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a peaceful and clean place to live and study. On the positive side, the security and maintenance people are really nice and professional. The location is excellent but you can also find other student housings in the area.

This place is in a great location for downtown students or interns but vastly over priced. Management is terrible. It took them three months and dozens of ignored emails to tell us we had a spot. During our stay workers came into our apartment without notice to me or any of my roommates, completely replaced the counters and took out our garbage disposal. Absolutely terrible communicators. I am terrified that workers just have access to the apartments and management fails to ever give notice. In response: After interviewing several residents, no one was notified. Just today I talked to a female resident and she was woken up by workers knocking. She figured if it was one of her roommates they would text her if they needed to get in and then workers just unlocked the door and walked in. Frightened, why they were there because she again received no email notification (in spam, trash or resident portal) she confronted them through the door and they refused to leave because they had to finish. Absolutely horrendous!

The lease is about as all-inclusive as it gets for an apartment in the city; one of the best (and most convenient) amenities that the apartments offer are the in-unit washer and dryers. Along with a great apartment, you get access to a lot of common areas at the Buckingham such as the top floor penthouse, which is a great place to hang out at night and meet fellow residents. The Bucks location is also very convenient. Rent is expensive, but it’s honestly worth it because you get the best amenities, location, and apartment you can for the price for the summer. Highly recommend spending the extra buck!

The Buckingham is an exceptional place to live. While the gym is somewhat lackluster, the Sky Lounge and Student Lounge areas make tenant interaction easier. I stayed in the largest unit and the views were spectacular while the rooms are very large. For those staying in other rooms I felt at time they were left with little space. But with its superb location inside the chicago loop, next to millenium park/grant park (Lollapalooza Location); Its only a 20 minute walk to most of the big 4 firm offices, the price cant be beat. Recommend requesting above floor 14 if you want a lake/decent city skyline view.
