Petes went above and beyond what I was expecting! Pete himself gave me my cut, looks super sharp! The shop is super welcoming and is loaded with cool stuff. I know where Ill be going for my next haircut. Awesome that one can get such great service from a place that excels at their craft.

I was in a desperate search for a new barber, I had tried many places but was having trouble finding a place that had a good vibe as well as good cuts.Thankfully, I found Petes. From the moment I walked it the vibe was great, great music, interesting decorations, and a welcoming, and funny staff. As far as the actual cut, the first time I went there we went through a complete overhaul of my hair, talking about what products I should be using, among other things. I am so happy I found this place, and you should find it too. If youre looking for a great cut and an equally great atmosphere, theres only one place and thats Petes.

Pete is amazing at his craft. Great atmosphere and conversation. The shop is covered with old movies posters, masks, and music memorabilia. It the kind of place you wanna hang out in even if you dont need a cut.He takes my homeless looking beard and turns me into a dapper dude. Now he takes appointments too which will definitely cut down the wait time. They have great products to enhance your fussy follicles and they know their stuff.

They are great at what they do, the wait can be long but hanging out in the shop is part of the whole experience in my opinion. I got a great haircut hair. The barber fit me in even though it was right before closing time. The only reason for 4 stars is that it was $26. Not too expensive but definitely not the most affordable place.

Always solid! It was the first place that actually seemed to take a haircut seriously. One size does not fit all and its cool that they actually want to help you figure it out! Did you know that your part can change sides as you age? Did you know that you should pretty much only use conditioner and use shampoo only on occasion? Thanks to Pete, Ive got plenty of healthy head in my life! ;) A note about the bad reviews: Any time that all of the complaints center around long wait times and too much hype- it just means that its a popular place! I can see how the popularity of a place has annoying side effects. Not grounds for a bad review though! This place is too popular is not the same as this is a bad place for a haircut Just like the popular restaurants in town- avoid the busy times or expect a wait! Ive walked in on weekday afternoons and sat right down. If you do catch a wait- you can always put your name on the list and go run some errands ;)

Visited Petes shop after reading amazing testimonials on several sites. The place is great for guys to hangout while waiting your turn for a haircut. Wait can be more than couple of hours depending on what time you visit during the day. Pete is a very knowledgeable guy and will often share tips about how to take good care of your hair. Its easy to find street parking and if you are planning to visit, try to go early in the day and make sure you add your name to the list as soon as you arrive.

I live about a block away from Petes so I finally decided to check it out the other day. Petes a great guy that started up his own business after working for larger chains for most of his life. As soon as you walk in youre greeted by the artwork of local artist that he changes up every week. As youre getting your haircut you can enjoy a beer and he provides the guest with entertaining conversation, the haircut was a really good haircut also. Definitely recommend this spot

Ive been frequenting Petes Barber Shop since I moved to Chicago 3 about three years ago. I knew this was spot from the first time I went in. The guys have done a great job at creating an awesome environment and youre always in for a great cut, some good laughs, nice tunes and last but not least a beverage with every haircut.

Decent barbers (good people) and very knowledgeable about what they do, but nothing spectacular like the reviews say. Price for a haircut isnt bad if youre willing to wait over 2-3 hours for an average haircut. Ive had to fix my hair and beard every time after coming home because they try and sell a natural look even if you ask for a high maintenance/sharp look. Why did I give it a 2/5? I took off 1 star for the horrendous wait time (they only have 2 barbers!). The second star was taken off because they do an average job with their fades/parts and the edge ups. The third was taken off for the overall experience isnt for someone whos looking for a cleaner/more professional environment (somewhere where they actually respect their clients and not put them down/make fun of them in front of everybody), look elsewhere. If you have the time to spend an entire freaking day waiting for your turn for an average haircut at a barbershop then this place is for you! I am new to the area so I gave them 3 chances and came away with a well below average haircut every single time. Sorry but I will not be going back.

The barbers are very knowledgeable about hair and hair maintenance, but I did not get what I wanted at all. The barber told me to trust him and I left disappointed. My hair is incredibly uneven, all my lining is jacked up and nothing was blended well. The barber may seem knowledgeable but did not understand how to cut my hair. Please just go somewhere else.

Pete was a very thoughtful and talked me through the haircut. He gave me tips throughout the haircut on how to take care of it and what works best for me. He took care in my haircut and the amount of time it needed. Also has a cool waiting room if you need to wait. Coming back!

The banter is awesome, the service is exceptional and the atmosphere is that of an old school barbershop mixed with a horror-esque type of theme. Plus my tip was turned down. This is the place to get a hair cut or beard trim. Pete and Johnny are always busy, but never to busy to engage with clients, provide beer and laughs (sometimes at your expense). Be ready to talk music, comics, movies, and odd-ball trivia. They will get your hair looking right AND teach you how to keep it that way.

You cannot find a better barber shop in Chicago. You walk in and youre instantly greeted by Mike and Pete(the owner). Pete asks you to put your name on the board and then offers your a beer. YES A BEER. Once seated theyll go through all your options and decide on a hairstyle that you like. Once theyre done performing their magic, theyll ask you if you like it. I wanted to make a couple adjustments and Mike had no problem accomodating all my stylisitic choices. After almost and hour getting my haircut(not in a bad way these guys are thorough) all I had to pay was 19 for a bomb haircut.

Espresso, beer, Xbox, cool dudes, and great cuts. Mikes a good guy and knows way more than your average barber about hair care. Totally worth the 1.5 hour wait. I could do without the naked women all over the bathroom but other than that, check it out!
