They Do their job of getting you through the case but that is all. They only care about getting paid, they dont care to help you. They dont provide you with much information unless its about making your payments. I do not feel helped at all just played around with. They only helpful thing is that they have a call back system but offer little help or information. Emails are left ignored. I would not recommend them to any friends again.

I began my bankruptcy in April 2015 in and it just ended late March 2021. I was told my bankrupt would be about 4 years and it was extended and not one lawyer or paralegal contacted me about any changes or whenever I was getting new lawyers. I would call about updates and not get responses. I was told bankruptcy wasnt to exceed 5 years but mine went to 6 years without an explanation from the lawyer. The only time lawyer contacted me was when they needed me for something other than that I would never know anything unless I inquired. It was as if they say forget the client after they get your money. I had out in several request asking to be notified with updates and changes in my case and they never did. I wish I had never done a bankruptcy because its been pure hell with this company. I wish I could give them zero stars.

I was briefed and not explained in detail. After finalizing the chapter 7 . I get a letter from the IRS stating I owe them after being told I will have a clean slate. I trusted the lawyers there in what was told to me to come to being in the same place I started after finally paying them for there services. My word to whomever is reading this dont conduct anything with them via phone or video.. also be clear to ask questions of all there lines for clarity even the ones you think is clear to you. Have them explain EVERYTHING BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO USE THEM FOR WHATEVER REASON YOUR SEEKING.

I had used Debstoppers a few years ago to file bankruptcy. That time they were professional, courteous, efficient and most of all patient. Ever heard the saying if it’s too good to be true don’t do it.... this is one of them... complete waist of time... they don’t believe in communication skills unless you owe them money..... the judge threw out or case after giving Debt Stoppers 3 chances and we had no clue! they charged us $2500, we made 4 payments, only to find out the case got dismissed by Com-Ed 20 days later (we didn’t even find out from them!!!).... they never called us they never said there was a problem... Asked for a refund because the job wasn’t done... they told us not a chance.look I get it, if you’re going bankrupt 99% of the time you don’t have $1000 laying around for a retainer... all I’m saying is this isn’t the company to go with.... I had to file BK CHAPTER 7 again with new ATTY my credit got hit twice because of it....

I went there to get help from this law firm. Service was respectful and courteous but they fail in notifying people that their service wasnt for everybody. Im in the process of adjusting my legal situation in this Great Country. I was told that they dont work with people lacking a social security number. I found another law firm that worked with me.

Was one of the most terrible experiences ever. They seem to care more about their money than about you.I was in the process of an eviction, unemployment AND a bankruptcy and they refused to help in any sort of way for me to get through the process without losing it all. But I did at the time, ALL thanks to them wanting their monthly payments for their services.And then theres the harrassing phone calls for money AND their lack of care when you ARE homeless.... and did I mention that my father died as well, and Ive been struggling to deal with that as well? Theres a pandemic going on and Im working part time time trying to survive, pay rent. AND mourn... and all you care about is your money? Heartless and disgusting is what your company is.It was all money, money, money. Terrible. No apology will fix what theyve ever done to me.

I started my bankruptcy in 2015, I have made all schedule payments I compiled with all the courses never missed not one payment in fact I have over paid they owe me money back. So I received a letter saying they our dismissing my case due to a bankruptcy I had in 2011, and it hasn’t been 4 years in between the two, my thing is y’all run my credit and y’all look up all debt before taking our case I’m pretty sure it’s on my credit and some of debts that was listed states they where in a chapter 7 and I also informed them in my initial meeting that I had previously filed on top of that they did not clear all my parking tickets only in my married name I still have 3,000 worth of parking tickets in my maiden name which is also there fault that I just paid a1,000 to get on a payment for cause I couldn’t add that on tothis case I have spent the past 4 in half years paying and working on my credit and paid them over 4,000 to still end up with this result no one has returned any of my calls I been calling for over a week since I received the letter I have a court date for the 16 to dismiss my case I will be in court to the let the judge know what they have done just messed up my whole life that I was trying to get back together and an operator going to say refilling is the only option I would never do business with them at all ever again and they act like they can’t return no calls

Do not go to them!!! I paid off my case in February, and wasnt notified of a closing counseling class I had to take until June when I called. I took the claas and here it is almost January and I still dont have discharge paperwork. Here is a list of other problems I have been facing over the past 2 and a half years,- my attorney was fired or quit or some other circumstance that he was no longer over my case and had originally filed my case wrong.- They raised my payments almost triple by the next year and when I called they basically hinted around about something wrong and that the attorney did. then they put my payments back to a reasonable amount but then I got a letter later that year that says they were going to dismiss my case for lack of payments. When I called they said its because I had not been making the full amount, which was adjusted from when the first time I called, they just never made the adjustments in the system.- then I paid my case off early and I still have not received any discharge paperwork and no one can tell me where its at. (I made the last payment in February)- got garnished by the IRS for money that should have been included in my bankruptcy but according to them it was not and it was because the attorney for debt stoppers filed the case past the deadline. I filed and March 2017, the IRS didnt know until January 2018 the deadline was December 2017 and now Im getting garnished.-also every year I have to give them my tax returns at least three times because they continue to lose them in their office. One attorney will email me for it, I will email it back, the next day another attorney will email me for it Ill email them back and then the third day and a representative will email me for it or call me for it and by that time Im irrate . Why do you keep losing my important documentsCurrently speaking with the legal team and waiting on a resolution which I dont think will be resolved because of their lack of work. Do not go here!!!!!

I originally thought that I would walk in here and feel judged from the moment that I walked through the door. That was completely NOT the case! I hired this firm to do my Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The entire process was fast, easy and painless. Their fee was realistic for the services I received. So far my experience has been pleasant. The receptionist were very professional. My paralegal Sully was very attentive, professional and answered all my questions and concerns. I had my first appointment this morning and Sully said she would call me back before the end of the day regarding some documents and she was willing to stay later then her scheduled end time, if I would be able to take the documents back today. I am only giving 4- stars because as I mentioned, today was my first appointment only. I will rate it again once my chapter 7 is complete 👍 By the way no money down was required to file 👍👍

This is an agency that has the ability and willingness to exceed your service expectations.I have filed bankruptcy numerous times, with different law groups and this group was the best at handling my questions and providing the most appropriate total solution. They even provided financial suggestions i hadnt anticipated for the future.This group of bankruptcy lawyers are the best to work with.Had I went to Debtstoppers initially, I would have already successfully completed bankruptcy and been at 700 credit score. Wow. My case just closed in October and it appears I have a ton of tickets on a car that was not repossessed which I filed under Chapter 7. Im irrate, considering I paid $1585 for the entire fee. Because of negligence on the part of this company I didnt received the proper paper work until 3 months after I began to wonder why my vehicle hadnt been picked up. The response from the office was its not in our control, yet did not tell the customer that they would have to contact the finance company themselves in the initial meeting. But they surly got paid every cent on time. Never a late payment. The car was finally repossessed in November, I filed in June. Also, get this I now had some odd $700-800 bucks to be paid in tickets that have accrued for expired plates, stickers etc. I would not recommend. They seem nice but once you sign to pay them they are horrible with keeping in contact or informing new clients of the processes. Very unhappy. I would never recommend them. Had I not called it may have possibly been a higher amount to be paid. I also have emails that correspond too my issue mentioned above.

If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Do not spend your money here! Run! They treat you like a Queen as theyre coaxing you to sign a contract with them. Then, as soon as they get that money deducted from your pay check it all changes. I filed a bankruptcy in 2013. I needed to contact my attorney Jaime Torres to send an approval to buy a used car to get to work. I could not contact him or his office. The gas company turned my gas off a year after the bankruptcy was filed, I called my lawyer again. He told me to call the gas company and give them my case number. I thought that was his job but I wound up having to do all the legwork myself. He did nothing!!! The trustee threatened to dismiss my case, I could not contact my lawyer again. Their lawyers are useless. If you have to file bankruptcy, do it yourself. Youll save money.

The complaints are true. Just had another not so good experience with them while trying to reach my attorney who hasnt responded to my email or calls in probably over 5 months. I dont believe those positive comments are real, if so why is there a drastic difference in peoples experiences with the same company. As well I see the law office posted thanks to customers with positive reviews but I see no comments addressing negative posts, or asking how there customers can be won over by correcting what issues may be mentioned. Just doesnt read as though they value the customer and the time and money they put in for choosing to do business with them. Shame.

I used them back in May 2016 they dismissed my case because of a discrepancy with my payroll department however the funds were being sent to the trustee but not applied to my account. I had to refile today and pay $500 and they have $500 of my money thats not applied to anything yet I havent gotten it back. Then to top it off I filed today at 9am the lady says Ill send you your email and proof by 2pm so I can send it my creditors Ive been calling since 1:15pm cant get through to anyone and no return calls so they took my $500 and I have no proof I even filed today!!!!! This is not professionalism!

Its one thing to come to work just to get paid, its another to come to work because you love your job. Jasmine Kimbrough does that, she loves her job, her personality is warm and caring. I would call her for every little thing, when a creditor is harassing me or when I get those robo calls, she always gives me that reassure that everything is fine and that I dont have to worry about anything. She always gives me that follow-up call to let me know that she reached out to those creditors/robo callers (if they gave a real number)and that I should not have to worry about them calling me again. I have had the same paralegal since I filed. She always gets back to me with with an answer no matter how many times I call. Kenya helped me stay in my case when I was laid off. She knows how to break things down so you can understand and make your next move. Hopefully I will never have to file again but I do Im at debtstoppers.

Absolutely terrible. Once theyve received their money, Theyll never respond to calls or return calls. The Joliet office is worse as theyre never open and when they are, they treat you as if you are somehow bothering them. They loose paperwork, provide no support for motions. More than often, I find myself addressing issues with the Trustee on my own. My trustee actually recommend that I sue this organization for mal-practice, which Im pursuing. WARNING, STAY CLEAR OF THIS FIRM AT ALL COSTS. Theyll simply make a bad situation worse.

I agree 200% with those who commented they treat you very well while in the process of filing, but once you pay and become a client you can forget about it!!! They are very unprofessional from the time you walk through the front door/receptionist. Ive went through this place Chicago/Western Ave and have dealt with several attorneys/assistants etc., all the same and when you call them YES they act like youre bothering them and they treat you like their the debt collectors!! Ive called to discuss a late payment (s) and they could careless they dont bother to suggest modification etc., This place is horrible and I write this from a professional standpoint & not an angry client view. I would never ever refer them.

Things were really great last year and got really bad really fast this year...filing this put the breaks on what would have been an even longer harder drop. My overall process with this bankruptcy has been stressful, but what I will say is Elise Mims & Betty Szwab did respond to emails with important information, and I must say that you guys ROCK! Had it not been for you two I dont think I would have made it thus far because both of you at least kept me afloat! Before I was able to get in contact with someone direct it was very hard to get updated information about my case and going into the office on 111th & western was a pure waist of time. Im so happy that I finally have been discharged after a lengthy 3 years. In my honest opinion I would not recommend debt stoppers. It seems in the beginning theyre so helpful to get you signed up but after that if you dont do your own leg & ground work it seems that youre setting yourself up for failure. Also if you miss any important steps like submitting your yearly tax return,debt exit class, or anything of importance regarding your bankruptcy they will send a letter saying that your case will be dismissed. People do your research before you sign up for bankruptcy.K.Ross
