If there is any other place you can do to file your case please, do not go here. Because they did not oversee my paperwork correctly, I have had to pay even more due to their lack of professionalism or concern. Even after writing to the BBB, the manger here (Marci) called and said they would award my monies back and apologized for the mishap. I have yet to receive the money and this was over 2 months ago at this time. I think they wanted to me to withdraw my complaint. I just did not expect these types of games and misfortune from a professional company and law firm. DO NOT GO HERE! they have really messed others up as well

I am unaware if the non responsiveness, unprofessionalism, and incompetence is due to covid-19 however, something has got to give. You can never speak to a live agent, the have interns and first year law students working here, because everyone is incompetent.

Too many clients to give you the service you deserve. I filed with them April of 13’ and although the bankruptcy pay-off went 5 years long and I was 3 payments from paying it off they dismissed it. No discharge, they dismissed it!!! They don’t advise you, I’m not a lawyer and I hired them to guide me through the process which they did not do effectively. $11,000 for nothing! My creditors can still come after me! I could have taken the $11,000 and paid much of it! They hid the fact my paralegal was in another country! Not state country! Not trustworthy. I do not recommend to say the least!

I don’t know how you got a five star review from me previously. You must have mad that yourselves. You failed my case in the first year. Because your lawyers are incompetent. First of all 8 different lawyers handled my case in less than a year. Not one was professional or knew what they where doing. I was pay like $543 a month and only my car was in the bankruptcy. I’m with Geraci Law now almost 1 year and a half in case still going 1 lawyer I pay $643 and Geraci Law added my taxes I owed plus my car to the bankruptcy. My taxes was an additional $14,000 I pay $100 more a month then Debt stoppers and they added $14,000 more to my bankruptcy. I think debt stoppers was over charging me and my case fail in bankruptcy cause they didn’t add my taxes which I found out latter. One of the ladies at the front desk on western the Latino one had an attitude when I asked how the fail my case because this is what y’all do everyday. She said cause you never responded back to your last lawyer. I read through all my email and the last lawyer name she gave me I responded through email and called still have the email proof of our exchange. My case failed because they failed to add my taxes to the bankruptcy all debt is suppose to be added. A real legal firm should have known that. Plus I had 8 different lawyers handling my case in just less than a year imagine if my case went full term mi would have went through 40 different lawyers. These order are paralegals not lawyer’s and the just play hop potatoes with your case. They just pass it along each person puts there name on it so they can get paid just to say the touches your case. They only gone handle your case enough to get their legal fees then your case will fail. I advise anybody doing a bankruptcy too go to Geraci Law don’t waste your time and hard on money here just too be blamed that youThe reason your case failed instead of their own incompetence. I’m not a lawyer never went to court but yet I failed the case or these brainless individuals who call themselves lawyers and do the same job everyday failed to fully put all my debt in the bankruptcy. But charging me an arm and a leg. I repeat my bankruptcy case with Geraci law added $14,000 more debt that Debt Stoppers and I pay only $100 more. Debt stoppers pockets money these people are crooks don’t throw your money away and come here get represented by real lawyers at another bankruptcy firm do your research I did the second time around. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Initially everyone is exceedingly nice in order to gain your business. However, things did change once the process started. Communication does cease, attempted to call on multiple occasions and had to wait a hour to be connected with a live person. When you finally get someone, they aren’t able to assist and the return call take days for the follow up. Business is not handled properly and a lot of miscommunication does occur. Best perk is they offer payment plans other than that, their services I will not offer to anyone.

Went to debt stoppers 2 weeks ago. Let me tell you that the process was so easy. They told me what I needed (wasn’t much), every few days they check on me to see how I was doing and how things were going. The day I went to my actual appointment to file the lawyer Desirae Bedford was so nice and patient with everything. She walked me through it step by step, explained everything and was very nice. I really recommend her and this place. I went to 111th and western. If you’re in dept and need help these are your people and please ask to see Desirae she’s so good with people and patient. She was sweet and such a people person. I give her 5 stars. Ty Desirae for making the process so easy and for clearing my dept.

When I thought I couldnt do any better with getting out of debt with all the bills and stress I couldnt seem to fix even with trying to do payment plans it still wasnt even but after working with debt stoppers they help me to get a fresh start and release some of the worry I had of not being able to do much with the bebt I was in . I am 14 months into my ch 13 Bk I was in a car accident and not only am I having a hard time with the insurance company now I have to stay on top of ”attorney” I know I got myself into this situation to have to file in the first place but at the end of the day Im still paying money for their services I am on the verge of pulling out this Bk and pay the creditors off myself I do not receive timely responses on critical questions or issues I have I had to get up out of bed after the accident to get some questions answered the ”paralegal” called me back rushing me off the phone as though I was bothering her she should have not called me back if she didnt have time to speak with me with undivided attention after going into the office they told me they would have her to call me I had to tell them Im not paying the paralegal Im paying the attorney I know Im not their only case but its funny how now that they are getting paid Im not receiving the service I got when I was signing on with their firm money from the accident is being sent to the lien holder which I dont know how thats possible as stated I have been in this Bk for 14 months the lien holder should have received some kind of money and I had gap insurance I thought the creditors get paid .10 cent on the dollar something is not adding up

I visited the 20 S. Clark office where M. Miller handle my consultation I let Michael know if my debt, income, living arrangements we was able to break down how much I will be making payments if I file a chapter 7 likewise with the chapter 13 And the way that he broke it down for me I felt relieve just from the consultation that I’m on the verge of being free of debt I talk with two other debt free agencies But those consultations was much different and the confidence wasn’t there and I believe I’m going to go with debt stoppers for my bankruptcy thanks Mike

The desk staff are polite and could not be heard discussing clients information or even their own business. That is a plus because if they could be heard discussing their business guess what they would do with yours. Everything is handled confidential. After you are called and you go into a room the doors are closed, the windows are thick you cannot hear what is being said even if you stand in front of a closed door which i did. Each door requires a code to get in:that is major security. I loved it.My Attorney Elliott was the greatest very neat, proficient, didnt scholl at me for being late, made me feel comfortable in making this decision, Marcie appears very stern but is very warm when you talk to her she is great. The very best people i ever met especially Eric the security plus maintenance person. He made sure those with walkers that were alone got safely to their cars. I even tried to sneak out without bothering him, but he saw me and assisted me to my car. He watches over everything. You have a great crew at that office. Everybody is working with a customer and not at the coffee and water fountain talking to each other. Great flow of traffic. Great flow of service. No long lines and no Cook county emergency room waiting time lol. I am sorry that was a dig. You come in if you got got all the paperwork you need for them to complete the work, the fee if any, you can get your case filed in one day. LIARS! They say theyll work with you on a payment plan you can afford. WRONG! You will pay $350 a freaking month regardless. Some of my creditors have even put things back on my credit! Im paying $350 a month and for what?! All debt stoppers did was put another derogatory mark on my credit, a bankruptcy! I am being denied any credit at all now. I cant get a car. I cant get approved for any credit cards. I was denied a loan at a payday store. What am I paying for?! Debt stoppers is a joke!

I will never recommend this place to anyone. The phone service sucks as well as in person. They never have any answers and they disconnect your call each time they transfer. I never can get in contact with my attorney. Extremely frustrating.

I appreciated the help on my financial problems. But you cant get the problems resolve with no money down, so youre in the same position, when you walked in the door.

The overall process was painless. Great service up until I had to talk to a paralegal. We file bankruptcies because we need the help. However I don’t want and need a person with a non Chalant time attitude about my situation. Let me start by saying, Debt Stoppers...Awesome! Went to their Downtown location in Chicago. Going in their with Zero direction on how to recovery my credit. I have went to previous Bankruptcy firms but, had a hard time always getting In contact with the lawyers. The were quite inconsistent and lacked communication. After my long journey with dealing with horrible bankruptcy firms. A friend referred me to Debt Stoppers, he had filed Bankruptcy in 2013 with them. He told me the Customer service was impeccable and that hes grateful he had done it with Debt Stoppers. His great feedback about the company motivated me to head over and see what the talk was about. What I loved about Debt Stoppers is that, they tell you what are different options they have for filing bankruptcy and then tell you what fits best for your situation. They didnt force me into anything more so made me feel like I had hope for getting my credit back on track! And so I Filed Chapter 13... It was great all the way up to the filing, the guy rushed my filing because they were closing. So I didnt get any direct answers to my questions and there were some things not placed into my filing because he was moving too fast to leave.

They treat you like a Queen as theyre coaxing you to sign a contract with them. Then, as soon as they get that money deducted from your pay check it all changes. I filed a bankruptcy in 2013. I needed to contact my attorney Jaime Torres to send an approval to buy a used car to get to work. I could not contact him or his office. The gas company turned my gas off a year after the bankruptcy was filed, I called my lawyer again. He told me to call the gas company and give them my case number. I thought that was his job but I wound up having to do all the legwork myself. He did nothing!!! The trustee threatened to dismiss my case, I could not contact my lawyer again. Their lawyers are useless. If you have to file bankruptcy, do it yourself. Youll save money.

Attorney Ryan P. Crotty was great on explaining and breaking everything down for me to better understand things and he also has Amazing customer service! I wish he could have been my Attorney but unfortunately hes not.

Very ignorant dont give u plain relaxed conversations to help you to understand but rushed and rude service very sometime attitudes with staff .and they will hang up on u and says the other line is ringing .no hold a minute but click very rude....I dont reccomend no one to these people they act very nasty all of them they should close the place down period or start fresh with a new staff and people who at least act like they care --while u pay them your money every month

The WORST experience I have ever had!! Filed a chapter 13 had to call continuously because they NEVER return your calls! My Chapter 13 is finally closed and I still have a case that is still open that has not been completely paid off even though my case has been discharged? I have been calling everyday to the trustees office to try and get this situation rectified with no response as of yet! I will not be recommending Debt Stoppers’s to anyone that I know!

Debtstoppers are life savers!!!!!! I was about to lose everything and i never dreamed I had to file Bankruptcy but Debtstoppers made the whole process easy and worry free. The creditors garnished my wages. Debtstoppers was able to stop that by my next pay check. The creditors also placed a hold on my bank account which is taking more time but ASHLEY JACKSON stepped right on it and has been calling my bank and creditor to find out how to release the hold off my account. Debtstoppers is the worst place ever. I came in 3 months ago looking to file a chapter 7 and the consultation was great. Jaime Torres made me feel at ease about my situation and told me that he would follow up with me in september when I was ready to file. September came and I made my appointment. The day that I came in the ladies at the front desk had an attitude they did not explain to me the whole process. So once I did the credit counciling part I then was suppose to met with the filing attorney not the attorney that I did the consultation with but someone different. I set there for 2 in a half hours waiting to be seen. Finally get seen just for Sal to tell me That I have to reschedule. I came back on Saturday 9am appointment. Get to the front of the line and Im told that they are too busy I have to reschedule again. I get a call on monday made another appointment set again for 2 hours before I could be seen and found out that my case had been switched to someone else. Bottom line this place is a joke. Maybe they treat people like they dont matter because it is a no money down place but that isnt right or fair to people. I will never recommend debt stoppers to anyone. This was a complete waste of time. Now I will be looking else where for help.

After struggling over the last few months and taking on another job it seemed as though I was never getting caught up. So I decided to do something I never thought I would have to do...file bankruptcy!! I went in to Debtstoppers for a free consultation and was told that all my debt could be cleared up, after being explained all my options I chose to go with chapter 7. A few days later I met with my attorney, Meghan Holmes, who was very helpful and took her time with me explaining what the process consisted of. She was very patient and no question felt too dumb to ask her. At first I was a little embarrassed because I had to resort to this option, but after my meeting with Meghan I knew it was the best thing I could do for my family!!

I filed a Chapter 13 with them 4/17/13, and was 2 payments from paying it off and they dismissed my whole case. I paid them over $10,000 in 5+ years. They kept changing attorneys and paralegals. Finally they gave me a paralegal in another country, they attempted to hide that he wasn’t in any local office. They are totally overwhelmed and understaffed. They’re too many bankruptcy attorneys you can consult. The whole time they’re so nice but unscrupulous nevertheless. Walk very carefully, no go somewhere else!

I was not satisfied with the job they did. I filed a chapter 13. They left out bills, then said is was my job to check behind them. They are PAID to do a job. If I have to check behind them to make sure all the bills were included that I provided to them, I could have filed my own bankruptcy. Just poor service all the way around.

STAY AWAY! If I could give zero stars, I would. I set up an appointment and confirmed my appointment. After arriving, I was told there where no attorneys that were there. I showed my text confirming my appointment and was told that they did not know why I was given that appointment time. I told the representative that was horrible experience. She told me to wait a minute and closed the door. After waiting five minutes, the manager comes to the door to ask questions. I showed her the text, and she informed me she was going to work out, but she would stay to help me. After going through a intake, she quoted me a price that was almost $900 HIGHER, than what I was told. Needless, to say I left this was a horrible experience. STAY AWAY

Horrible Iam currently in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy and has paid on time every month. I have paid over $1000 but it has not went towards my debt. I currently owe IDOR and they are still calling and threatening to garnish my paycheck, although I am supposedly in a bankruptcy. Called and got no help. Am currently in process of filing a formal complaint.

Omg it was wonderful. When I say I came in as a Train-wreck, I was all over the place. I had been trying for months especially since I got a new job last year to get all my bills in order. But noooo it was something always happening. And on top of that the debt collector are rude as ever. I thank each and every person who work there. Because the outside world makes you think filling bankruptcy is a bad thing. Well I’m here to tell you do what best for you and your family.

I filed a chapter 7 with you all and was told that my garnishments would cease. I am still being garnished, this is the second paycheck that has been garnished. I spoke with someone last week and was told that I would not continue to be garnished, yet my checks are still being garnished.

The initial contact was pleasant and helpful. The attorney was very professional and kind. However, the persons working in accounting two different males, which were bullies. I know they have a job to do but when you raise your voice to me in a threatening manner it scares me and then I react. Yes, the manager said rude remarks and hanged the phone up I am grateful for my initial experience, but people beware what you may have to encounter when you are doing your best to make your payment. Do not think that those who file bankruptcy do not deserve dignity.
