They recently changed management and it has me missing the old crew. During the most recent visit I found out that theyve changed how they charge for diagnostics + repairs. It use to be that if you got the diagnostics AND repairs done there the cost of diagnostics would be credited towards the repair. If no repair was done then just the diagnostics was paid for. Now they are charging for both the diagnostics AND repair, even when completed the same day. No more credit. Ok. Thats different than their old way and most other mechanics. Then their new manager took a condescending tone with me when going over his recommendations. He suggested a new engine air filter, serpentine belt, and front inner tie rods with the oil change. When I told him my engine air filter had just been cleaned out he got snarky and said thats not how it works. I have a K&N engine air filter, thats exactly how it works for it. The inner tie rods had just been changed out earlier in the year, so I called that mechanic for its warranty. I took it in the the installing mechanic to get checked out and they showed me how they were still good. No issues with the tie rods. Same with the serpentine belt. I confirmed with a third mechanic to be sure. So, this Pep Boys new management tried to get me to change out unnecessary things, were rude and unprofessional. As a woman this is nothing new. I just expected better from this location.

Got a four wheel alignment done on a Volvo 850, and was told that the rear end needed to slide over. There are only a few bolts on the DS arm that get loosened, then the arm can be pulled from a mounted bushing on the other trailing arm to slide over. Was told it needs to stay for 4 days for parts from Volvo, and would have a separate labor cost, which I refused. I called later to ask for clarity, then was told it needs a camber kit, which camber isnt adjustable on the rear end of this model, as the hub bolts straight into the trailing arm which is inserted into a bushing and mounted at the opposite end to the other arm. I spoke to a manager named Miguel, who assured me if it doesnt require any major part removal and can be done on the lift, then it will get done. I have yet to return, if my experience is good I am inclined to change this review, but I feel bad for anyone who simply doesnt know better as unnecessary parts and labor can really break the bank.

I went inside and asked if they could change a turn signal bulb for me as it’s under my bumper and I was told I’d have to leave my car there for two to three hours as there is cars ahead of me even though I drove around the building and saw two men sitting down in the empty garage. Really not tryna sound entitled here but I’ve never heard of leaving a car for two to three house for a turn signal bulb replacement.

I called in to have my a/c checked out and the service man told me to come the next day at 12:30pm. I arrived at 12:20pm and a different service man told me that they cant check it out ... It has to be dropped off by 10am. Poor customer service!

Even though its a little pricey to get your vehicle serviced here, you can trust Nick. Hes a great guy. He explains everything that needs to be done on your car very well. I highly recommend them if you need any auto work done by service technicians.

These guys are the best. They are doing everything the Donlen suggest they do to maintain my vehicle in top of the line shape. I vouch for them. They even showed me pics of a gouge in the right passenger side tire. They are currently looking for a replacement tire now. They are speedy and very approachable. They showed me the upmost respect and I would definitely recommend this place. 7

My black rims got damage when installing the new/correct set of tires. The first time the installed the wrong size tires. They tried to hide the damage by applying a thick layer of white grease. It was a very disappointment surprise after scrubbing the rims and tires for and hour.

I bring in a battery that they sell and its is dead. I try to return it without the receipt. Its been since November and I didnt keep the receipt. So now I have to wait for the manager who is no where in the building. Ive been waiting almost an hour just to have them give me a new one which warranty says 30 months.the tag says 11/20well its way in the warranty.

Just called 03/27 at 3:45pm to ask for a certain tire. And the person who answer was terribly rude, hung up on me and when I called back he would leave me on hold. He got mad because he said the size for my tire didnt exist: 145/65R15Which I understand is not common but Ive bought from other Pep Boys before.Dont recommend going to this location, lack of customer service

Approximately 2 weeks ago I had to replace a flat tire and the mechanic who did the job failed to put the star lug nut lock key back into my car which I didn’t realize until I took it to my regular mechanic to get brake work done last week. After finding out how complicated it is to replace a lug nut lock key, I stopped back into Pep Boys and was lucky to meet Phill who knows what customer service is all about. As a manager, Phill immediately took responsibility for what happened even though he was not there on the day the lug nut lock wasn’t put back into my car and immediately rectified the situation by ordering lug nuts to replace the star key lock nuts and had them replaced free of charge. Phill’s professional behavior as a store manager dedicated to resolving the problem represented the highest level of effective customer service any organization can hope for from an employee. The 5 star rating is specifically meant for Phill and he is definitely someone Pep Boys should find a way to keep around.

Good service and a good working team... I just cannot condone employees talking to customers and not wearing their masks properly. One employee, Sergio, was wearing his mask down to his lower lip. Another employee, I didnt catch his name but he was wearing an orange UT hat, was wearing his mask down to his chin and talking to customers between a break in the plexiglass they had set up at the main counter. Ive had covid. Someone close me got covid. Its nothing to blow off. I feel employees should take this seriously, especially if Im trusting them to get into my car.

I called in the day before to get an oil change. I gave them the year make and model. I was told my oil change would be $40. I set the appointment for 11:00am. I didn’t leave until a little after 2:00pm!!! 3 hrs of waiting for an oil change is excessive!! When I went to pay, I was charged $61.05 because the car only takes synthetic oil. I wasn’t told this yesterday! I could’ve went to my dealership for this and they would’ve charged me $52, $10 less! Not impressed and won’t be back.

I was pleasantly surprised with their service level . I had gone to them for years but the distance (for longer repairs ) was not conducive to me when winter came. I wanted to check another repair shop ( mine had failed me) and all the reviews for repair shops in the area screamed $$ . Pep boys was upfront explaining what needed to be done and $$$ it would cost ( not nearly what I was used to seeing) . No its not a BMW dealership but it is simple, honest, and fair pricing by knowledgeable people. Not once was a catastrophic scene in the explanation of the repair ( elimination of a whining rattle) which was repaired. The previous shop had told me there was no noise. I went to Ohio with my wife pointing out Everytime ! It rattled. He explained where the rattle was and fixed. The service advisor was clear on pricing and any eventualities that might happen. You lose 1 star for the waiting area ( too small ).Part 2!. Today Bert made sure my car was ready.despite it being a dealer.only partThe employee waited 1 hr on a Saturday for Dodge to cough up the part. Bert has always been my go to person ( but all are helpful ) My daughters Charger is ready for her moveThanks again.

I love this place. Ive had nothing but good things happen here. I use to go to Rubin the service writer that use to work there, but he got transferred out to another location; Rubin was fantastic, always going out of his way to help me. Now that Rubin has been gone for a couple of years, Ive been going to Burt the service writer. Talk about extremely excellent customer service. Burt is amazing, I like his customer service skills, always helpful and polite. Burt even helped me by giving me advice on how to save a couple of dollars on repairs too (especially with this economy). I wont go to anyone else but Burt, because the other service writers dont seem to have the empathy and customer service skills that Burt seems to have with his customers. I say great job to this Pep Boys, and thank you.

The prices here are not competitive. I went in to get my radiator leak checked and was told that I had a crack in it and that it would be $1400.00. I thought that at worst I would be out of about $600.00. After I declined to get the work done I was told to pay $40.00 for the diagnostic check. When I find a good place that takes care of their customers I always tell everyone that I know, in addition to frequenting the place myself. I was really hoping that they were going to be my new mechanic since I lived nearby and drive an older car. However, I found out that they are just like the rest of them.

The only way I could do a review was to give them 1 star but really they deserve a minus 5. After hitting a pot hole I brought thy he car over there. They said the rim was damaged and they would not know if the tire was till after they took it off. They quoted me $ 325 for a used rim from the junk yard from a car that was in an accident or something. $ 1,000 plus if I got a new rim and of course more if i needed a new tire. Called the Hyundai dealer and for a new rim he quoted me $ 450.00 half of what pep boys quoted. I cant say for sure but I think because it was me and my daughter only he thought he could RIP us off. Have to check pieces and compared with an expense that big. Never again will I go there. BEWARE they are either over priced or ripping off the customers.

When I came in, for 10 minutes there was nobody working the desk or answering phones.Took 4 hours for a Lyft vehicle inspection that took like 20 minutes at a friggin Jiffy Lube.One person who came in after me, and was having actual work done, left before me and then came back a few minutes later saying some kind of cap was missing.I am woefully unimpressed.

Do not bring your car here, not managed well. I just paid over $1,100 on brakes. They dont care about customers. They inspected my brakes at 40000 and said no issues should be good to 65000, then said I waited to long at 48000 to have work done. Please avoid.

I was charged $450 to not fix my car. It drove the same way both before and after I dropped it off. It wasnt usable to drive 25 miles to and from work every day. I took it somewhere else and he fixed it for $120. The car was back to normal leaving his shop. Brought the receipt back to pep boys and they tell me the other guy didnt do anything and theres nothing they can do about the $450 they robbed from me

This pep boys refused to plug my tire because the screw I ran over was “too close to the edge”. The salesman then proceeded to try and sell me a 60 dollar tire. Oh and let’s not forget that he asked me for my number after trying to sell me an overpriced tire. I ended up going to a different place where they were able to fix my tire for 15 dollars.

I have owned my 2002 ranger for 10 years, it always has been shakey on the highway over 60 mph, I took it in to be checked before a 1000 mile ride worried I may not make it and they did find a few things that needed repair including tire balancing and some front suspension parts, they went through everything as I told them of the trip, it did take overnight for parts new bolts tires etc. When they finished and returned my truck it seemed much better, and on the trip a few days later it was like a whole new truck, we were able to hit 90 without any issues at all, it has never ran or drove smoother in the 10 years ive owned it, definitely like driving a whole new truck all together, easily made my trip with no issues at all, overall my wife and I were extremely happy with the work done, absolutely perfect, we were considering selling for it being almost 20 yrs old and the issues we have had that other mechanics could not find but will definitely keep it now as it runs and drives better than the day we bought it ! Thank you pep boys, I love my truck now more than ever!

Went there to have some work done on my car, said it would take an hour and a half. Two and a half hours later, no phone call at all. I call over there, no one answers. I go there, the guy goes in the back to look comes out 7 minutes later saying oh yeah your car is done. Well thanks for making me wait. Car was fixed, then they came up with a couple other things that was wrong that needed to be done, to the tune of $1,000. Im like no thanks not right now. EDITED: I also had to take back a house key I had made on that day. Wow, it didnt even fit in the door! The guy processing my return said he wasnt sure I can get a refund. Im like huh? Yeah I can, because you guys made the key and I cant use it! No joking, I literally waited 5 minutes for him to do this because he said the computer is not letting him do the refund. I told him the manager made the key. He finally said ok heres your $4.50 back. I said what about tax?? Again, said the computer isnt showing it. Screw them, not going back. 👎

I own a 2006 Cadillac DTS. I tried this location some years ago for another car and received good service. Thought I would give them another try. Took car in for alignment, Mr. Washington answered my concerns very professionally and made me feel quite comfortable. Service was done in a timely manner and the best part was my drive home. Ive taken my car to this Pep Boys a couple of times, for new shocks and struts and a blown timing belt. Each time Ive taken it there theyve been helpful, honest about what I needed done and able to fix my problems. Theyre also good about pointing out any current specials or coupons Pep Boys has available to save you money on the repairs you need done. Highly recommended.

I just came from this location because I needed an oil change and for them to check my trunk release, which is not working. I made the appointment over a week ago and indicated these services, yet when I arrived there this morning, the agent told me that I would need to schedule a separate appointment for the truck release check. No one told me this ahead of time, but why would it take two different days for this? It is a trunk release issue, not a problem with the engine. I did not even let them do my oil change for wasting my time like that.

Pepboys, Your assistant manager at the service center is the reason why Ill never have work done at this location, ever. I came here to have my tire patched which was covered by the road hazard protection plan. I had previous work done and tires replaced at the Darien location prior to this visit, I chose this location out of convenience. The assistant manager requested my info that showed I was protected under warranty, which I then provided. I gave him the keys to my car and took a seat in their waiting area. after noticing my car hadnt made its way into the shop, I asked for a rough estimate on the wait time. Weekends are busy for me and I would have gladly come back later that day. He was rude in his response and said he couldnt give me a rough estimate. He then showed me a printed invoice for $160!! He only gave me the option to purchase two brand new tires and REFUSED to honor my warranty!! I was upset that he had wasted my time so I left. The next day I went to the previous location where I had work done and they fixed my tire without any problems. How that man got a manager position within the company is beyond me.

Retail wise they have a good variety of products, staff are reasonably helpful. On the service side I have had about 25 interactions there and eventually stopped going. Majority of the time service was acceptable, rather slow (waited 2+ hours for oil change several times) and a few times the interaction with the service staff just left me with a bad impression.

Basically scammers dishonest management, they meet you with a smile but thats where it ends, I went for a simple Lyft inspection which they advertise for $13.50 so it took over 1 1/2 hour and they said you need new tires and brakes .... Wow!! Nice one I am a mechanic by trade and its a 2015 Camry with tires replaced less than 3 months ago and I just passed Uber inspection 2 days before... I was upset because they lie to my face, I refused to pay anything I took my keys and I gave them a good lecture for lying and wasting my time, I will never go back again I advice you to read the reviews of others not just mine definitely this location is not recommended

Car has been there over 24 hours for 4 new tires and to fix 1 stud. Was supposed to take it home last night and hring it back first thing in morning but they didnt even leave it outside. Called 3 times today to see when it would be done. Couldnt even give me an estimated time and now i still dont have it and have work in a hour and a half. Never bringing my car here ever again!!!
