We had a great experience with Basnight having contracted to repair and expand our paver patio that was previously done by another contractor. The level of service provided from start to finish was courteous and professional. Their consultant salesperson (Robert) provided us a number of options and ideas to consider as well as some recommendation, allowing us time to decide while providing helpful guidance along the way. Those performing the work were diligent, efficient and steadfast in their jobs and we were impressed by their hard work and impressive attention to detail. As well, each employee encountered was always polite and respectful of our family and our property. We will absolutely use them again and would highly recommend. Thanks!

A man named “Dave” in your Chesapeake City company is HIGHLY unprofessional and UNPLEASANT. I watched from my job at Planet Fitness, which was part of the Property of Collin Square, An employee get fired for False Accusation in use of equipment by his Team Leader. I later discovered the Team Leader’s name is Dave, I am highly disappointed in how he handled the misunderstanding between him and the employee. I witnessed the whole Chesapeake Crew work on the property today on my shift through our store windows. The employee was having a hard time getting the machine angled on the hill medians located around our store, as if he was attempting to get a boost on the difficult angle based on the mass of the machine. He then neatly completed his job and walked straight to the company truck, leaving no mess behind which was very appreciative on his behalf of our parking lot. Not long after, that SAME employee comes into our store to ask us if he could use our restroom, I greeted him into our store and showed him the direction of our restrooms. When he came out of the bathroom he then asked to use the company phone. In concern, I asked why? He replied that he had just gotten fired and needed to call his wife. The employee begins to tell me that his Team Leader said someone recorded him working in front of OUR store moments before he finished the property. In result, he said his Team Leader Dave showed a recording of the phones point of view on how the employee maneuvered the machine; In judgement that he was “Too Aggressive” on the machinery that it looked as if he was “Popping A Wheelie” trying to get over the curb to get onto our grass. I watched the whole thing looking out left from our store, I called and spoke to a man after I asked for Kent Basnight about how his Chesapeake Team Leader unprofessionally handled the situation and why the employee was misunderstood based on from what I actually witnessed him doing from our stores angle. In concern for the employee, his well known outstanding work ethic and manner of how he responded of the False Accusations against him, I will be keeping tabs on this situation until I have heard back from the company OR from Kent Basnight himself. This company’s Chesapeake Team Leader needs to learn how to appreciate their employees a lot better than what I have been observing the past couple of Months from this specific team. Either that or hire a new Team Leaders for your company. I hope to not witness such little misperceived confusion from the supervisor of the group again. His body language and demeanor towards the crew was extremely ignorant and unprofessional from what I witnessed and observed on the Team Leader’s behalf. Action needs to be taken, due to what my coworkers and I saw what happened today, that does not make you all seem like a respected company towards your employees.

My experience with Basnight Land and Lawn was exceptional! This company installed a paver patio and a wall seat in our back yard and their work was phenomenal! The owner, Robert, dropped off a catalog in advance for us to pick out pavers. He has been super friendly and very attentive since day one! He also worked out a custom design that would compliment our new wood deck and even let me change my mind a few times on the best placement for the wall seat. The crew was very professional and worked diligently to make sure the ground was absolutely level. The project was completed very quickly. The quality of work shows - I am beyond thrilled with the final result. I would hire them again without hesitation.

Not sure what is going on but service to The apartment complex I live in has gone from excellent to very, very poor! They used to spend more than half a day and their work was impeccable. Now we are lucky if they are here 2 hours. They only do our hedges after tenants complain constantly. Wouldn’t recommend them at all.

Not sure whats going on. They used to be very professional. I think the employees have changed. Have called 3 times to get someone to schedule an appt to come out. Never get a call back and Ive talked to the same person all three times. I think his name is John. The lady that used to be there was on top of things. Time to look for a better service now, unfortunately.

Basnight Land & Lawn is responsible for lawn care in my parents neighborhood. On July 31 while weed-eating around their house they hit a rock and it shattered the window on their patio door. No note was left (just a business card on the front porch) and glass was covering their patio and the grass beside it. I went to visit them and discovered it when we walked outside, as they were not home when it happened. We contacted the person whose name was on the card (Drew) and he said that yes, they had indeed broken the glass and would replace it. As of today (6 weeks later) they are still living with a broken door and Basnight refuses to repair it. After contacting Drew again inquiring about the delay in repairing it, he said that the owner (Kent - who will not return my calls) said to hold off because he believes it was the fault of the person who installed the patio due to some loose concrete in the grass beside it. The patio was installed 9 months ago, and Basnight had already mowed their yard approximately 15 times and never had mentioned it before. This is no excuse. If they had mentioned it I guarantee my 81 year old father, who is very particular about his lawn, would have taken care of it. I am disappointed in this local company for their lack of taking responsibility for their mistakes and the lack of compassion shown toward their customers.

This company takes care of the Riverwalk nipeighborhood in Chesapeake. They used to do such an amazing job but about a year ago it started to change, maybe new management? The neighborhood doesn’t look like it used to all of the brick crosswalks are full of weeds, grass and weeds are overgrown in the middle of the streets. I live near the corner of marina reach and creek lane and the weeds are over growing all through the bushes that were replaced. It is disappointing as they use to be very impressive.

Basnight Land & Lawn and Robert Nye = Excellent. How refreshing for a company to provide not only a quality product, but exceptional employees, and incredible customer service too. Robert met with us to discuss various options to beautifying our yard; his knowledge and good nature made the planning a very enjoyable experience. He explained everything that would be done, and also the time frame in which the job would be completed. Any questions that we had were answered promptly by both Robert and his office staff - Kristen Johnson was always so helpful and polite. We had a wonderful experience with Basnight Land & Lawn and will use them for all of our future landscaping needs.

Super lazy and completely unsatisfactory work.

I have no idea why you would be driving mulch and having your workers out on Easter Sunday @ 7:45am. Think that a great deal of your workforce is Catholic, could be wrong. Found your Sunday timing poor.

They cost me thousands in wasted dollars! Sold me grass that died within a couple months of being laid down, due to all the shade from my trees. Tried to enter into mediation with them through the BBB. They agreed at first, then became obnoxious and told me - through the BBB - that mediation was off and I could discuss it with their lawyer in court. Very arrogant. All in all, a total nightmare!In response to the owner: WOW!!!! This is NO MISTAKE!!!! You most likely did not go back far enough in your record search. The brother of the owner was the salesman. I even contacted WAVY 10 On Your Side for assistance. They praised my detailed account of events and suggested I pursue the matter via a lawyer.

I have left them emails and left phone messages and no return calls. It would be nice to hear back from them.

They did such a beautiful job on my new outside paver fireplace!! Truly amazed by how quick it was done and how perfect my backyard is now! Thanks yall!

Unprofessionalism and unknowable at its finest

Truck from Basnight Landscaping turfed the edge of our front yard on 4/3/2020 while performing work in a neighbors yard. I called them the same day to request repair and was promised that it would be done but am still waiting.

They came out to our house and gave us a quote. Quote was GREAT but the service was even better... Thanks Basnight

Overpriced quote but because of the work that they had done before I was willing to pay. This time I dealt directly with Christian Bassnight and I will say he has poor customer service. He had the team come out to do work without a set appt. The work that was completed was substandard and they did not complete a portion of my property. We tried to contact Bassnight and his office staff to correct the problem-he didnt have much to say except that someone would come out and look at my property (though this was weeks after my initial complaint). No one to date has been in contact for this visit nor have they ever finished the work.
