This review is long over due. I have been blessed with Sam Twiford, Jimmy Altmeyer, Chris Sisler and the staff. After having a serious operation, I loss my oldest son. I cant tell you how lost I was. I couldnt even think straight, after all you are not suppose to bury your children they are suppose to bury you. Working with Sam was not new to me BUT working with him during a time when I felt my life was totally out of control!! Sam helped me get through that awful time. He also helped me make choices that were perfect for me. Chris Sisler with his very busy schedule still managed to be at the funeral home on the day I was coming in to make arrangements to help and comfort me. This wonderful act of kindness I will never forget!!. Jimmy Altmeyer was in the background but also very busy trying to help and provide for me. Thank you is just 2 simple words but they hold so much love and gratitude that I have for Sam, Chris and Jimmy. God bless them all

Altmeyers attention to detail and compassion with the pre-planning and final planning for my mother-in-laws funeral was most excellent. Nick Ivey;s expert assistance in all areas was truly helpful and on the mark. He, and the Altmeyer crew, made this difficult process a good closing for the life of Mary Grace Murphy. Thanks to you all.

We lost my dad in July of 2016 and as his baby girl and daddys girl I owed it to him to honor him in every way possible. He was a Navy Veteran for 26 years and an amazing father and husband. I had no idea how to plan a funeral or how to go about honoring him for his service to our country.Nick Ivey was our funeral director and was so wonderful about letting us know he would handle everything. I truly expected our first meeting would be him trying to sell me the most expensive thing for dads cremation but he was completely the opposite! There was no selling aspect to any of the planning. All of his focus was on us and making our wishes come true. He spent time getting the obituary exactly right and made sure we reviewed it as many times as it took to make sure it was perfect. He handled getting it in the paper and online along with up on the Altmeyer site. He had us get pictures of dad with family and friends and created a movie of them for the reception along with a large collage of all the pictures that was displayed at the funeral. Everything was taken care of and done in an incredibly detailed manner. Everything was handled as if it were his dad, down to the most upmost of details. The military honors was a huge part of what we wanted to do because of my dads service and his incredible love for our country. Nick went above and beyond to make sure it was done in the most honorable way....a memory I will hold in my heart forever! At the end of the day, I saw a bag with my name on it with the funeral homes name on the side. I had no idea what it was, but after getting home I looked and saw the prayer cards I didnt know were given out, thank you cards with a mice message for us to send out, a candle with dads picture on it and the prayers we told him dad liked. It was all seamless! Done in a way that made you know he cared.Nick was amazing and made a very tough day memorable. His communication through the whole thing was great. If he had a question or thought he wasnt sure, he asked! We didnt have to do anything. Just gave him what he needed to get started and showed up on the funeral day. I am so glad Altmeyer and Nick were the ones we chose for my beloved dad!Fast forward to March of this year. We lost my mom. Another hard blow to our hearts. When she passed, it was devastating and when they asked if we had a funeral home in mind, Nick and Altmeyer wasnt a second thought in my mind.I asked for Nick to be our funeral director and he gladly accepted. He had been working out of the Virginia Beach office but made special arrangements to meet us at the Chesapeake location close to our house. Our first meeting was sad but a huge relief as well. We knew he would take excellent care of my mom and her funeral. Because we worked with him for my dad, there was already paperwork prefilled out so we didnt have to go through all that again. We asked him to duplicate Dads funeral and he did.Mom was a retired RN of 40 years and also was in the Navy where she met my dad. Nick took all the things we said and incorporated it into the most beautiful obituary. He highlighted her career as a nurse but also added that she served as a military wife for 26 years. We didnt ask him to do that, he just heard everything we said about mom and incorporated it in. It was perfect! We got pictures together as we did for dad and he made the collage with all the pictures. Because mom served a few years in the Navy, we wanted military honors for her too. He already knew about it and had it all in place for when we set the day.Everything went great for Mom as it did for dad but with some additional special touches. He did so many special things for her funeral there are too many to type.Moms favorite color was red, so Nick had his team wear Red ties! Again, his attention to the special details go far above and beyond. I could go on but there is a limit to the amount of words so I will close by saying.....Nick, we are forever grateful for all you did for us!
