We had a tree fall and get caught up in another tree near our house after a storm. Grubb Tree service came in and was able to safely remove the fallen tree and a few other problematic tree near the house and near our fence. The team was very professional, fast, and careful. Would highly recommend if you have any difficult trees near your property.

I cant say enough about this company. I had them out to remove 2 trees and trim up 2 trees. When they came to do the walk through, they were on time, very professional and very through with what was to be completed and how much it was going to cost. They did a fantastic job with the removal and trimming.A week or so later, I contacted them when I had some felled and damaged trees due to a microburst. They came them next day to look it over and gave me the estimate, saying they would be able to get to it the next week. Lo and behold I come home the following day and job was done! They even took the leave blower and cleaned off all the debris on my deck.You need tree work? Check out this company!

The Grubb Tree crew did a wonderful job clearing my yard of problem bushes (many leatherleaf holly). One mans arms were unfortunately quite damaged by the lethal plants. It is a joy to look at and walk through the area now. The men clearly had the drive to do a good job and pushed themselves until is was done to perfection. I highly recommend this company.

Grubb Tree made a great impression from the start: their customer service representative-estimator Billy was courteous, responsive, and eager to accommodate. The job involved removing a dead pine tree and cleaning up fallen tree limps after an ice storm. The price was reasonable and included a discount for combined projects. The crew was amazing. We watched them in awe as they took down our entire tree quickly and with precision. The communication was nice and easy, too! David, the team leader answered all of my questions patiently and cheerfully and gave recommendations for further tree maintenance. They left the site cleaned up as if nothing had ever happened. We moved back to Charlottesville in June 2017 and bought our first house, which came with a small jungle in the back yard, overgrown trees, and an excess of bushes and stumps. I had two tree/landscaping companies come out to give us quotes and they came out nearly even. When I described an unusual idea to block road noise in our back yard the first guy pointed out the negatives of the plan. When I described it to Billy, of Grubb Tree Service, he was immediately supportive and gave useful suggestions to help the plan succeed. I appreciated that Billy allowed us to control the creative process and but provided positive support and professional guidance.When heavy rains delayed the start of the work at our house we rented an excavator and had fun ripping out bushes and stumps that we had initially asked Grubb Tree to take care of. They didnt complain about the change and they easily re-figured the invoice. After the rain delay they put us back on the schedule as soon as they could and were intentional about communicating possible work dates. I really like that they use digital invoices, electronic invites to schedule the job, and are easily accessible by email.I was most pleased with their flexibility. Besides doing some of the excavating work ourselves, during the two days they worked at our house we made at least two other large requests after the invoice had been paid. Billy was professional in discussing it with me and negotiating the cost. They seemed willing to do the extra work, as long as they had time for it. They did a nice job cleaning up the debris when they were finished and used a leaf blower to make the yard look tidy.The whole crew worked steadily and efficiently. Other than the expected machine noise, they were quiet, and they were polite. No loud voices, no cursing, no personal trash left in the yard, no one smoked or spit tobacco juice, that I was aware of. Their appearances were neat, professional, and modest. Having been at many construction sites where my dad worked I understand that can be hard to find the incentive to care about your appearance when you generally stay pretty dirty all day. But it really makes a difference in how others view your professionalism and whether you can be trusted with details. So, though it may sound funny, I appreciate small things like pants that arent sagging, shirts that cover stomachs and armpits, and trim haircuts/facial hair. This crew gets an A+ for all of that. Billy was good about looking me in the eye, thanking me for the work, and had a firm handshake. Small things go a long way in assuring a consumer that they picked a good team! I was very impressed with the company even before they came to do the actual job. Their knowledge of tree is amazing when I spoke on the phone. They answered my questions promptly. Their price is very affordable even I know tree service is very expensive. Communicating using e-mail was great. I questions and got answer right away. I was very satisfied how they worked on 4 trees for tree trimming and pruning. I liked it very much when I saw how they cleanup after everything was done . This part is as important as trimming job. Grubb Tree did a great job cleaning up from trees brought down in a recent storm. David and his crew were here a week ago for some trimming and pruning but returned for the storm cleanup. Both visits were efficient and timely. They did the work required and cleaned things up beautifully.

My wife and I saw Grubb Tree Service cutting down trees about 1/2 mile from our home. They appeared to doing a good job there, so we called and asked for a quote on a tree that was leaning into our neighbors yard.Since they were in the area, they came over that same afternoon and gave us a reasonable quote on removing the tree, so we also asked for a second, taller tree that was close to the road. I have cut down many trees on our property, but these had a degree of difficulty that I was not willing to accept.They came over the next day as promised and did a thoroughly professional job on both trees and even cut the trees into smaller sections, then moved them off our lawn for us, no extra charge.I try to do as much myself on our property as I can, but dont mind paying for service that is professional and reasonable.I will use them again if needed, and certainly recommend their services to anyone.

I needed a win this month and Grubb Tree WAS that win!! Billy gave me a very reasonable quote on cutting down a behemoth tulip poplar by my house, and as an added bonus was willing to trim up my mulberry and crepe myrtle. He gave me a few options for the tulip poplar and was incredibly honest about what needed to happen, he mentioned that the poplar was rotting from the inside, which was hard to see on the outside.The team came out early May (Trent, Antonio, Billy, David, I hope I didnt forget anyone! Every single team member who came to my house, was fabulous!) and it took them two, eight hour days to get that poplar down, which was indeed rotting and could have knocked out the house! Im incredibly grateful for them coming out so quickly to take care of it.The team had to sort of figuratively hold my hand with this poplar, as I loved it dearly and was a bit in denial of it needing to come down, Im sooo grateful to the whole team for their honesty, professionalism, and the incredibly good job they did.Billy was amazing at keeping me up to date on what was going on and the safety and cleanup was impeccable. Grubb Tree just completed a job to remove 6-8 large pines and a sycamore on our property. While there are other companies large and small that could have done the job, what sets Grubb Tree apart from the others is: 1) their communication is outstanding. They actually call you back promptly, follow up when appropriate and the on-site supervisor keeps you informed of progress; 2) the team (David and his crew) did an amazing amount of work in the time allotted. I hired Grubb Tree to remove a tree in my yard. I was concerned about preserving my fence located right next to this tree. They completed the job in a very professional way by making sure the pieces of the tree were dropped carefully to avoid the fence. The cleanup was impeccable. Amazing customer service.They were straightforward and honest with their pricing when they came out to cut down a tree and grind the stump. They gave me their honest opinion about what needed to happen and what could be done to save money. When they came to grind the massive stump, the wood chips that were created covered some surface roots that were supposed to be removed. I called and Grubb was out the next day and removed the roots within 3 days. They are wonderful people operating a professional business with personal service.

I would give Grubb Tree 10 stars if that were an option. I had an elephant sized poplar tree in my tiny front yard surrounded by close-by electrical wires, precious Japanese maples and a slate roof. I have used Grubb Tree twice to take down large oaks around my home. Once was for an addition and to remove a very large oak leaning over the house. The most recent time was to remove a storm damaged oak leaning over top of the new addition. Their crew showed a lot of skill and precision in deliberately removing the trees piece by piece to avoid any damage to the structure. If I could leave a 10 star review I would! Im so impressed with Grubb Tree Service! Ive known Luke personally for many years and I had NO IDEA that he could do landscaping!! I would have called him years ago.My husband and I love our home - especially the backyard -but with two busy schedules and a new baby, landscaping became low on our list of priorities. Luke came over and not only taught me about each plant but also knew exactly what everything needed. The best part is how clean everything was left. We were extremely pleased with Grubb Tree Service’s work in taking down our three 120-foot each, completely dead oak trees in our back yard. Luke and Billy were very knowledgeable and realistic in their assessment, as well as reasonable in the estimated cost of the job.Our work was initially postponed due to emergency tree work they were called to, due to the damaging storms that came thru in late August. But to me, this underlined our decision to go with them, showing that they are able to prioritize work based on safety and imminent danger to the customer. Had I been the customer who just had a tree collapse on my house, I’m glad they’d be willing make me priority.When our job was up in the schedule, they were prompt and professional, working hard while also being efficient and swift. I wouldn’t have thought I’d ever have seen the yard again beneath the debris while they worked, but I was very impressed with how well they tidied the yard and returned to as normal as possible when work was completed. And while we’re splitting what we are able in the meantime, they also provide a reasonably priced separate service of splitting and stacking the wood, which is done at a separate agreed upon time.Bottom line: We need look no further than Grubb Tree Service for any future tree needs we may have. We had two large trees fall on our house and worked with Grubb Tree to remove them. Luke and his team were phenomenal to work with and took care of everything in a timely manner. They were prompt on their service and provided us with updates. Also, they worked with our insurance company which was a huge help. I highly recommend them for any sort of tree service you may need.

Grubb Tree service did an amazing amount of work on my 2.6 acre lot in a very efficient manner. Luke was well informed and knew which trees presented a danger to my house and made very thoughtful recommendations on what should be trimmed back His crew cleaned the site thoroughly before they moved on to their next project. Would highly recommend for small or large scale tree work.

We had an extremely tall tree (about 130 feet or more) about 10 feet from our house, leaning over our house, with several very large branches (as large as normal trees!) right over the roof. Grubb Tree Service did an amazing job. It took hours, but every piece was taken down safely and when the straight trunk was thrown, it hit exactly as they planned, right between two other trees in the yard. Awesome work! We will be hiring them again in the future to take several other trees down.

Once again, Grubb did an exceptional job for me. They arrived on time, turned to after confirming what it was that I wanted them to do and, when the work was completed, cleaned up thoroughly. I have used them before and will use them again in the future.

Luke has removed large trees for me twice as well as trimmed medium sized trees. Also many limbs from trees were removed. Each time he has delivered professional service and left my property in very good condition. His communication skills are excellent and you are never in doubt or uneasy with his proposals--then he follows through as said! Delivers professional and knowledgeable service!!

This is the first time Ive hired Grubb Tree Service. The original scope of the project consisted of topping dead wood from 1 tree and removal of 2 trees. Additional services were added while service was being performed for a nominal fee. The trees were within 20 feet of the house and removal went extremely well. The team was responsive and professional, the price and quality of work was as expected. I will call on Grubbs Tree Service again for future tree service needs.

My cat somehow made it over 30 feet up a tree, and he didnt seem to have a plan on how to get back down! I called Grubb Tree Service -- they came promptly and they we able to get him out of the tree and back to the ground. it was an all around great interaction and I thank them for their wonderful service.

We hired Grubb Tree Service to remove a very large oak tree that was within 30 of our house. We were satisfied with literally all aspects of their service including initial contact, followup, safety precautions, actual removal, cleanup, and in general doing everything that was expected. Grubb trimmed two large holly bushes into a tree form. The work was well done - the trees look great and it was just what I wanted. They also did a good job in cleaning up afterwards.

I barely closed my laptop after requesting a quote when the telephone range from the office to schedule it. The person sent to estimate arrived on time and was explained what limbs could be removed while still keeping the tree healthy. The men arrived at the time scheduled and answered my questions during the work process. I cannot recommend them enough!

This company is the best Ive used. They are second generation tree experts and Luke and Billy and their team are unbelievably great to work with. They are hard working, honest, and leave your yard spotless. Honest pricing is something not often experienced in the tree business, but they are the exception. Id call them again in aa heartbeat.

The team showed up as scheduled and got to work quickly. They did a great job...and it seems like they got most of the deadwood and lightened up the trees (we have two very large elms).The process of getting a quote and scheduling was also quick and efficient. They respond to calls, text and email making it a breeze to ask a question. We are waiting now to get on the schedule for a stump removal too and are looking forward to having them back out.Two neighbors have asked for contact information as well. Great work on our driveway - 5 large Bartlett Pear Trees were splitting. These guys did a wonderful job of pruning them back. Reasonable price and cleaned up great afterwards also. Took the time to explain the best way to prune them, very helpful and nice people.
