Excellent trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Mostly wooded trails with some meadow and large streams. Find the maps online and plan on spending several hours to finish all the trails. There are some outhouses and a few picnic tables, but please bring bags so you can clean up after yourself.
Great mountain bike trails. Very challenging in some spots and smooth riding in other places. If you are feeling brave, try the technical trail.
Wow! What a wonderful place to mountain bike. Trails meander through endless forests with various difficulties. My family rides here and we keep coming back for more.
Its unusual for a park designed solely with trails for bikes, hikers, & horses. Preddy Trail Park is located near Barboursville near Charlottesville. The network of trails is quite expansive and well marked at intersections. I took the outer Preddy Creek Loop with a few inner trails to add distance. The Loop is 4.3 miles. The experience is basically a walk thru the woods w very little to view. I saw deer twice; an abandoned, rusting car; and glimpses of a shallow creek. The trails are moderately difficult with a lot of elevation change. Additionally, the trails were made smooth by bike traffic, making it easier to walk over.
This is a wonderful park its located in a rural portion of Albemarle county. The park is wooded making it a great place to hike on sunny days. There are hard packed dirt trails.Mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking and running is allowed at the park.
Trails are awesome for walking with sciatic nerve issue. Loosens the leg up
Great hike, dogs are welcome! Many trails to choose. Water play, nice facility.
Great nature trail! Took a loop that was about four miles, great exercise. There were many more interlocking trails, Im sure I could hike this place 40 times and take a different route everytime. Bike trail with obstacle course for experts. The trails seemed somewhat uneven and rocky for running but there were a few runners out there, just mind your step. Had a great family bonding experience and will be back.
An exploration of roads to get there and trails to walk make a great day event.Power walk, bike, bring your horse to ride or simply enjoy the walk and the day as I did.Great example for other communities to create their own adventure areas.
Great park. Pedestrian suspension bridge is cool. Fun paths to explore.
Nice park with plenty of trails for biking, walking, and horse back riding. Some more advanced trails for mountain biking available as well.
Nothing much to see. Nice trail for a walk in nature.
Awesome trails and landscape for hiking biking and horseback riding!.... GREAT for the grandkids too!
Preddy Creek has mt biking trails for all riders. They are extremely well maintained and in better condition than many bike parks that require a pass! 10/10. Recommend to all my friends!
I love the trails. Its a great place to unwind and relax.
Great trail for beginers or if you want to do a simple hike with your dog.
We had spent a few days in Shenandoah hiking. We wanted one last hike in, mostly to tire out our dogs for the ride home.It was a good little, easy hike. Facilities were well maintained and the locals were friendly. More importantly the dogs slept all the way to Roanoke.
Cute little trail for your kids and dogs. no real challenge
Fun place to go with the family
Nice park, good hikes for families of all ages.
The trails are very well groomed, plenty of parking and the other trail users have been very respectful
The trails were beautiful and well maintained. Unfortunately our car and another were broken into and my wife’s purse and phone were stolen. The police indicated that a similar incident occurred last week. Both were in the middle day. Please be aware and leave your valuables at home.
Great park with miles of well-maintained trails. However, we also had my wife’s car broken into during broad daylight in May 2020. Her purse was stolen and credit cards immediately used by the crook. Police were notified. Do leave valuables at home or at least in trunk.
Lovely forested trails of varying lengths. Easy to moderate in difficulty. Multi-use: hiking, biking and horseback. Creek harbours fish, frogs and salamanders. Saw families picnicking on the sandy bank and splashing in the shallow clear water.
Nice local park and trail for moderate hikes, without the crowds of Shenandoah.
Nice place to hike, especially with a toddler.
Nice trails horse friendly
This park is open during COVID! Great, well maintained trails and ample parking. Dogs also welcome
Very beginner friendly place to ride.
This public park has miles of beautiful trails, with plenty of shortcuts to allow for flexible mileage. In the woods, there are mountain biking courses, so feel free to bring a bike. There is also a place for horse trailers and a few small enclosed riding areas. The trails are well maintained, but be careful when they are icy or wet as there are some rocks and roots that could throw you if you arent paying attention. Great place to visit, five out of five.
Great walking, bike riding, horse back riding trails! The Preddy Creek loop is around 3+ miles long with some elevation change. Nice walk in the woods and always a few friendly people to say hello to along the way.
My husband and I have been coming here since before we were married (back when the parking lot wasnt paved, but there was always plenty of parking). We love the trails for hiking. Weve always talked about getting our bikes out there, but still havent done it (the bike trail looks like a blast!). I just recently took my kids... the 3 year old loved it. He took one of the paper maps that they provide at the trailhead and tried to keep us from getting lost during our hike in the deep dark woods. :)The only downside is that now it is a popular Park, and sometimes the parking lot is full to capacity.
Lovely trail to ride your horses on. River crossing is amazing. Maintained well and free of litter as well. Awesome place to spend the day with your horse and friends.
Nice place to hike (place is badass)
Needs more signs up because some trail signs were not there
Excellent way to get back into the woods without having to drive too far. All of the trails are relatively gentle, making this a great place to take new mountain bikers or simply take a hike after work. Watch out for mud pits though as most of the trail can be dry, while there are still small sections of very wet mud.
Great hiking trail!!! Lots of bikers but they were respectful. Really easy-going hike, 3.5 mile loop but with cutoffs and such you could make it shorter or longer. Definitely glad I went!
Fantastic trail system. Great for beginner to advanced mountain biking. Great easy hiking trails. LOVE THIS PLACE......
I didnt really say long
Excellent biking and walking trails. Definitely watch for horse poop but otherwise the trails are beautiful and well maintained. Highly recommend!
Great walk
This park has fantastic, well marked trails. You have the ability to choose how far you want to go on the fly because of all of the trail connections. Be aware of other trail users; dogs, mountain bikes, and horses are allowed on many of the trails.
Nice, easy trails to go on. Even after a light rain the trails can still be relatively soft and muddy so pay attention to the warning for using them on the etiquette board. Also these trails do allow horseback riding dont be startled by the poop!
Enjoyed the trails and the scenery
I love all the trails at Preddy Creek. They are very well maintained. The people that use the trails follow the leash law requirements. And this is rare at other Albemarle County Parks.
Great place flat, hilly, wooded, open its all here. The area is very well kept. If you do trail running or slower trail biking with lots of winding this is the place. Im in the area about twice a year for training but when i come i make sure to come here at least a couple times.
For biking I would highly recommend the far side of the creek, much better and less muddy trails over there.
Great experience hiking the 3+ mile Preddy Creek Loop. My wife and I spend the better part of 2 hours easily hiking through the beautiful forest. Trails are very well marked and clear. Only saw a few mountain bikers the entire hike. Very clean and well managed. Will come back.
Its always great! Love riding its trails with my kids...
Nice trails for two legs, four legs, or two tires.
A small drive out of Charlottesville takes you to a very well maintained hiking, biking and equestrian trail system. Trails were very well marked and very well maintained. Gates dont open until 7 sharp and the park closes at 9. Good variety of trails with nothing too terribly technical. No big jumps that I saw. The advanced loop is not quite as bad as the sign at the entrance to the trail would lead you to believe. Of course difficulty is subjective. Ive been riding with thought of improving my skills for 1 year. There are no impassable trail obstacles. Overall a total blast with some wooden bridges and one long wooden skinny on the other side of the creek. If youre a pro youll probably be bored here, if youre like the rest of us youll enjoy this hidden gem.
The trail is beautiful 😍 I would visit it every day if I could.
Great variety of trails. Fun for any level of bike rider as well as walkers, trail runners, and equestrians.
Awesome place to mountain bike.. rain has done a lot of damage to the trails. I helped CAMBC for the first time today work on the trails I was very happy to help out they do a lot for all trail users thanks for the opportunity to help give back a little.. seems as they do A LOT!!!Also see people bird watching hiking running and horse back riding there as well on other outings thereThanks to Albemarle county parks for such a great place to spend the day with the kids
Really love these trails! I go running and mountain biking here on a regular basis. My kids like to hang out on the suspension bridge over the river.
Hidden gem of Albermarle county!Short drive from Cville to enjoy hour long trails! Totally worth it! Life is short!
Great place to mountain bike or walk dog! Cool suspension bridge over Preddy Creek. New trails still in progress.
This park has become an amazing trail area for mountain biking. The trails mostly consist of easy XC style single track.
Preddy Creek is a great place to ride for all levels. The trails are well maintained and continue to expand.
Always fun place to walk. Great for kids, dogs and horses. Mostly shaded forest trails and a place for the animals to cool off and drink at the creek.
People need to keep their dogs on a leash!!!! Thats the only thing wrong with this place. People will ride their bikes and let their dogs run free. Its dangerous!!! There are people riding horses, dogs that do not do well with other dogs and children. PLEASE PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOGS ON A LEASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Busy trail on a Saturday afternoon. Went here because my original choice didnt allow dogs. The trail names were well marked but there were no distances on the signs and they need to better clarify how to get to the parking lot from the trails (I did the loop). The bikers were curtious.
Great place for hiking and biking
Nice equestrian trails that are well marked. Easy trailer parking, too.
Great hiking trails to take your dog on.
We had an enjoyable early spring hike around the perimeter trail. It was a little muddy in a few places. The dogwoods, redbuds, and wildflowers are beautiful! The suspension bridge over Preddy Creek looks great! There are lots of fallen trees, mostly pines that have died.
Nice mountain bike trails
Nice easy trails. Good for any activity. Just watch out for the road apples
Great trails for biking with friends or young family members. The extension across the creek is very well done. Deffinitly adds to the experience
Great place for a hike, lots of parking, well marked trails and varying terrain. The bridge is really awesome.
This place is gorgeous and so quiet. Perfect place to walk.
Great flowy trails built for mountain biking. Good outer loop for beginners and experts alike that is fast and fun. The advanced loop had more advanced terrain and features but isnt all that bad for intermediate riders either. Rumors of a pump track coming soon? Thanks CAMBC!!
Parking is great. Lots of people here to meet with similar interests. Mountain biking is good for the area. Great for running, biking, or hiking.
Great easy hike with young children on an overcast day. We would have stayed longer if I hadnt forgotten bug spray.
Miles of beautiful leisure trails
Great trails, kids love the creek. Open to hikers, trail runners, horseback riding, mountain biking. Ive seen dogs being walked on leashes, too.
This is a wonderful park with miles of trails. Its just hilly enough to be interesting . In every season its fascinating and beautiful.
I almost loose my mind in there, my son and I walked into the woods following the trail is NOT signposted I thought I was walking back to the exit and I guess I was walking backwards my GPS Was not responding I my 9 years old son and I were getting very scare because It was getting dark MY PHONE WAS DYING and I called 911 thanks God I found a house AFTER 46 minutes with the 911 on the phone, but I was nobody there I give the operator the house number and they found us after almost an hour and a half later because they said that I walked into Orange county. Im a very smart women and I never thought that something like that will ever happen to me but I spoke with the police officer and apparently Im not the first person getting lost into this park.
If you are new to the park bring a map with you. Easy to get lost.Lots of trail options to explore on foot, bike, or horse.
Preddy Creek Loop is our favorite bike trail in Charlottesville so far. Not difficult but has some challenges to keep you engaged, long enough, and we saw a deer. Amazing!
One of my favorite Albemarle county parks. Miles of trails, a lovely creek, great for hiking, dog walking and completely wooded
Nice place to walk bike or ride.
Great place for a walk in the woods. Also nice for mountain biking and trail riding with your horse.
One of the best MTB trail systems around Charlottesville.
