Fun gym. Lots of space and they change the set up often.
Great climbing gym, change the routes often, friendly staff. Only has bouldering and a small gym, but worth checking out!
This place is amazing. The staff is very friendly. Our first time he was great in explaining how things work and how to be safe. Great place and they did a great job with following masking and social distancing recommendations.
It’s all relative and as cville’s only rock gym you can’t be too picky. It’s small and they do ok with what they have. Don’t go in with big expectations and you’ll enjoy the laid back, at times cramped, student heavy atmosphere.
Very good place. I enjoyed the experience, I would highly recommend!
Super friendly staff, great walls that are constantly redone so you never can get bored, and a great gym attached to it for lifting. Totally fantastic and the price is great.
Great gym with a very welcoming and friendly staff. Awesome bouldering rooms with walls that are regularly changed, set with problems for all skill levels. Small gym with limited top rope possibilities, but the reasonably priced membership rates make it well worth it for any Charlottesville resident trying to get into climbing.
The staff here are super nice and the sets are awesome. Check it out!
Great bouldering gym with excellent setting and wide variety of styles! I was impressed with the variety of training equipment for a smaller gym
They are great! Staff are helpful, and they change climbing layout frequently so that regular customers can keep enjoying.
We went here yesterday because my 6 year old daughter has been asking to go rock climbing. After comparing a few places we decided to to here. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. They showed us around and explained how things worked. They make a small space really work well here! No space seems wasted. My daughter had a lot of fun climbing and we will definitely visit again.
1st ever visit to a climbing gym. Very impressed with facility and staff. 1q
Awesome bouldering gym, support your local gym!
This is the best gym I have ever been to. The route setting is topnotch and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Wonderful facilities with everything you could ask for in a bouldering gym.
If you love to climb, this is the place! I had a good time and the staff was really cool. I usually climb for fun, but youll find all levels of challenge here. A day pass is only $15! And theres a gym too (if thats your thing). Check it out!
Wonderful, clean space, with friendly supportive climbers!
Great climbing and atmosphere!
Great Rock climbing gym. There are a few roped climbs, but most of the gym is boldering: climbing under 15ft high. There are super thick mats to cushion your fall from the limit. Really fun, kid friendly, (for better or worse) happy to host parties.
A great alternative and trending activity to stay fit. I would not recommend this place for children under the age of 10 due to high heights, older people, and difficulty of the rockwall. I would also not recommend older folks for similar reasons. The place is pretty expensive, with a one time pass, rental shoes, and chalkbag being close to $20, 11 time pass being a little over $100 and a monthly membership being $64. So not cheap, but very thrilling, very fun and exciting, and great music to go along with you climbing experience. I cam here with my cousin Max and every time we would climb a wall we would fist bump. It was our first bonding moment since we had never truly spent time with each other before. So definitely a great place to experience more than just climbing up a wall. Very friendly staff, and an even more friendly community. I myself was climbing up a difficult wall, and had Max, and three strangers cheering me on. Sure enough I got that fist bump! The cost is worth is, and the 11 time pass never expires, so although Max is all the way in California, he can still come back and climb with me!
A lot of fun and very supportive atmosphere. Ive been told it is easy for a climbing place there is a decent range from easy to difficult. There is also a small gym you can use.
I climb here regularly, but this is no huge gym for anyone looking to top rope or get in some sport route training. But its an excellent and growing bouldering gym with challenging and creative route setters. Plus they offer weights, cardio equipment, a single racquetball court. Also offers a small selection of climbing shoes and accessories. Great if you love the small hole in the wall kind of gyms. Id love to see more kid sized routes for my kids though.
I started climbing here with zero experience, the staff was super helpful and the people that climb here tend to be friendly and offer help and encouragement to new climbers. They also constantly change the routes to keep it fun and interesting; Im nearing a year of climbing here, and every week I find something new to work on. I wish I knew of this place sooner during my time in cville.
They have a great bouldering room that is set up to work on your dynamic movements.
Great place to climb, the staff are really nice and gave me a run down my first time bouldering. They have various difficulties and are always creating new courses. The people who frequent here are friendly and supportive, theres no pressure to be perfect and no judgement if you mess up.
If youre into rock climbing and you live in or around the Charlottesville area you should visit this place. Excellent facility for training experienced climbers as well as people who want to get into climbing. Also as a bonus they do an excellent kids birthday party for boys or girls. One thing to note if you call them they are slow to respond but very eager to help
Great place to everyone who wanna learn or practice the climbing, you will love this place
Had a good time. I dont care for rock climbing but the racquetball is always great fun. Bit over priced for just racquetball though
Rocky top is rad. The member base is super welcoming and the staff are friendly. The route setting is creative and high quality. The space is small, but they pack into it everything youd need to either have fun climbing (if climbings not your regular thing) or to make training progress (if it is).
This place has done some serious renovation work in the last 2-3 years. Theyve added more climbing space and generally increased the niceness level. Its focused on bouldering because its just not that tall but there is a good mix of skill ratings on the climbs. There are a few top rope climbs but most people boulder. Theyve also added some nice programming like after school kids clubs and adult competitive leagues. It is on the smaller side of climbing gyms Ive been to, but its not the smallest! This gym also has showers and some lockers, some cardio machines and a decent but smallish weight room. I like that they have things like olympic rings and kettle bells and other functional training stuff in addition to more pedestrian weight equipment. It can be a little crowded on a rainy afternoon/evening but its kind of fun to hang out with the climbing crowd.
Climbing/bouldering is great exercise. Enjoyed going while visiting my friend.
Always have good bouldering, walls are updated regularly with challenges for every skill level.
Fantastic indoor climbing gym. Has a great community.
Small, yet fun.
Mainly a bouldering gym but have top ropes if interested. Staff and patrons were all very friendly.
Decent people all around. Not always sure what their policies are and neither are they.
Laid back friendly bouldering gym.had some top route problems, but not very long ones.
This place is very small with only a couple problems but the staff seems friendly. The top area with the cave/upside down problems was very musty and the mats were kind of gross.
Its great and super cheap
Great climbing experience
Challenging.
Great bouldering!
Very cool place,
