I was in the area on business and needed a haircut. Stopped by Scotts and he gave me a great haircut at a great price! He threw in some terrific stories about his life for free! I highly recommend this barbershop.

First time I came in I wanted to fix up a bad cut I got from another shop and without even having to explain further, Scott said, I see what you mean... straightened up the mess I had and told me, Im not gonna charge ya for a cut you already paid for, thanks for coming inI tried to negotiate paying the guy, but we settled on a handshake. Cant beat that.I dont really post reviews much, but I figured Scott deserved a good word 👍 he treats his customers well

I was in town for work and looking and feeling a little shaggy because my haircuts have been few and far between during COVID. I stopped by Scotts and although it was near closing time, he opened the door for me and gave me the best haircut Ive had in a while, at a very reasonable price. Hes an attentive, experienced barber who will ask you what you want, and then give it to you. Ill be back when work brings me to The Hook again. My wife, never shy about telling me when she doesnt like a cut, complimented this one as soon as she saw it.

The shop was clean, the barber wore a mask and my husband felt comfortable the whole time. Hubby said it was the best cut - fade, that he’s had in a long time. Scott listened to him and cut his hair exactly how he wanted him to.

Unprofessional is best way to describe my experience at this barber shop. I would recommend going anywhere else, unless you enjoy a side of derision with your hopefully completed haircut.Based on the good reviews my partner and I went to this barber shop for a haircut. We got there, the shop was completely empty and the music had been turned off, but it was the middle of a workday so I figured it might be a slow time. As mentioned in other reviews the prices were inexpensive, with a $14 cash price for a haircut and a $16 charge price.The problems started almost as soon as my partner sat down, and he couldnt immediately remember how short he usually got his bangs cut to, or what setting the clippers should be at. the guy (who I presume is the owner) started berating him for not knowing how you get your hair cut. Not that he didnt know what style (short on the sides and back, longer in the top due to cowlick) but because he didnt know the exact length he wanted right from the start. It hadnt occurred to either of us to ask his normal stylist what setting he uses on the clippers before we moved. That would have been bad enough, but my partner has anxiety and as most people know, if someone with anxiety is having trouble explaining something, and then they get mocked for that difficulty, it just makes the situation worse. Then my partner asks me to pull up a picture of what his haircut normally looks like, and the barber immediately states I dont do pictures, you need to tell me what you want done, how do you not know how you want your hair cut. So then my partner asked if the barber could clip it to what my partner thought was the right length, and then just take more off if that was too long. The barbers response was well if I have to keep clipping and clipping it takes longer and I need to charge more, at which point he starts constantly deriding my partner for not knowing the settings on the clippers.Now, I can understand being frustrated when a client doesnt know exactly what they want, but mocking someone for it is incredibly unprofessional. I could also understand rushing someone if they had been there a while, or if people had been waiting. However the shop was still completely empty at this point, and my partner had been in the barbers chair for less than 10 minutes. So the barber was constantly mocking someone for not remember the exact measurements of something while refusing to look at a picture of it. At the same time he was talking about how low his haircuts were while simultaneously saying hed have to charge more if he had to cut more than once. At that point I was really fed up with his derogatory attitude and was texting my partner to check if I could just tell the guy wed go elsewhere and pay him for the partial haircut he did, when the guy declares he wont charge us for the haircut but were going to have to go somewhere else. At which point I said thank you to whatever deity got us out of there before I called him out on being incredibly insulting and rude while he still had my partner in the chair. We ended up going to a Hair Cuttery (chain) where they had no problem using a picture as a reference and working with my partner to salvage his haircut.In all fairness, the barber didnt force us to pay for the half-done haircut when he told us to leave. That said, I highly, highly recommend going there or really anywhere else; Id rather pay more for a finished product than pay a few bucks less for something left unfinished.TLDR: The barber was really insulting when my partner didnt remember the clipper settings or bang length, refused to look at pictures for reference, tell you he will have to charge you more if he needs to clip or cut more than once. He may also kick you out if you dont know exactly what you want or take more than 10 minutes, even if the establishment is completely empty. He does have low prices though, so if you know exactly what you want and youre willing to risk that he does it right the first time, this place might be a good deal for you.

I am very picky when it comes to haircut. Moving to UVA for a year from Rhode Island, I never have a haircut in Charlottesville. I rather go home in Rhode Island to get a haircut. For the first time since I moved to Charlottesville in 2017, I decided to have a try at Scotts Barber shop. And it turned out that he is one of the best barbers.You cannot deny the greatness.100% Recommend.
