I know a lot of online reviews are bogus. People have axes to grind or other issues. I will start this one by just stating facts.Facts:1. Arranged pick up at noon the day before. $11 - $13 estimate for 3.5 mile journey sounded good.2. Received text confirmation shortly after and day of, several hours before noon. Very reassuring.3. At noon on specified day--no taxi.4. No taxi by 12:20 pm. Had to be somewhere at 12:30 pm. Called and was able to reach a human being (theyre big on their automated answering service.) Was told it should be about 15-20 minutes for my cab.5. 20 minutes later still no taxi.6. Taxicab arrived at 1:10 pm. 70 minutes late. Fortunately this appointment wasnt that important. Told the driver and dispatcher I didnt want the taxi service.Opinion:I can imagine that the taxi industry has been devastated by Uber and Lyft and others in Charlottesville and in most cities around the country. The companies still running taxi services are probably fighting to stay alive. This is no way to fight, however. Being unreliable and undependable will not get you customers. You should try to be the opposite. I called a couple of other cab companies and they had minimum charges of $25 and $35. $70 for a 7 mile round trip journey?? I guess that might work for them, especially as car rentals right now are ridiculously inflated. I dont know what these cab companies are going through to try to stay afloat. But I think that minimum standards of reliability and punctuality CANNOT BUT HELP THEIR CAUSE.

I set up transportation using insurance benefits for an MRI and was assigned yellow cab as provider for the trip. This was set up 3 days in advance. Pick up time was 2:55 pm. They picked up my patient at 3:55 pm. The MRI was at 3:40 pm. If you are setting up transportation through insurance benefits request to NOT be assigned to yellow cab in Charlottesville. If they cant get people to their medical appts on time I hate to see what they do for other non medical trips.I have been setting up transportation for those I serve for years. I can say without a doubt that the pandemic has nothing to do with this companys poor service.

I booked and verified a 5:30 am airport ride with this service and they failed to secure a carFor me to go to the airport. My reservation was taken and validated. They sent me a link to pre pay twice as well!! I reached their operator this morning only to get estimate of 30-45 minutes later than my booked time. I will seek $$$ in court from them if I miss my flight today.DO NOT USE THIS CAB COMPANY….

We ordered TWO cabs because we were told 6 people could not use one cab. First cab arrived, three of us left for dinner, after 30 min second cab still hadnt arrived, we made several calls and we were told it would be 90 min for the second cab!!! They finally sent another cab and after dinner we Ubered back to hotel! MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE!First driver was great though.

I ordered a cab to the station the evening before, and got a confirmation. In the morning I got a link, enabling me to pay in advance or during the ride (which I didnt). At the confirmed time, no taxi arrived, no information either. Called the operator. She regretted that she would not be able to assign a driver to me at the moment. Gladly I had planned a reserve, and was physically able to walk twenty minutes up- and downhill with a heavy suitcase, and so caught my train. What would another person have done? Dont rely on their service!UPDATE: They called me later that day, apologized and assured that they will assign the drivers to the morning tips to the airport and the station the evening before in future.

Booked this service weeks in advance of an event. I was promised by people over the phone that I had nothing to worry about, but then the day comes around and no car arrives. Called to check in and was told I was never guaranteed a ride even thought I have screenshots of this company promising said ride. Don’t waste your money on this company. With Uber being more difficult lately I thought this company might be great but it has been awful. Do not waste money.

I schedule my ride 2 weeks in advance of my Dr appointment. The day before they sent me a confirmation text, then that morning when they didnt show up I called them and the lady told me that they had not assigned a driver yet to pick me up. I asked why nobody called me and she had no answer, I asked when a driver would be assigned and she had no answer. This is not the first time this has happened, I have been late for several of my appointments and I have had to cancel a few appointments. This company is so frustrating and very unprofessional. If they just took a few moments to let you know whats going on and be honest with people Im pretty sure they would not have so many bad reviews. However when you schedule a ride Covid or not you are depending on them to show up on time or within reason not an hour or 2 hours late or not at all. I also had to call my insurance because they report that they showed up to my house and I was a no show and that is a complete lie. I have told my insurance that yellow cab is not to be assigned to me anymore.. I cant afford to keep missing or being late to appointments.

Always have loved Yellow Cab. Even when they were not as reliable as I would have hoped. No matter they always show up. And they cover hundreds of miles in either directions. All big companies will get a bad rap but I know in 15 years I’ve been riding there’s no transportation company who has accomplished more in providing rides for millions.

Recently did a call-ahead for a 5 am taxi. The booking process was easy and simple. We booked the day before around noon. We stayed outside of Charlottesville and the driver had a bit of trouble finding us but was still on time. The driver was very personable. Overall great experience.

Its been years since any of our clients called a cab, but an older gent asked us to call one and we did. Now I see why nobody calls cabs anymore. Man sat for an hour and still no cab. So I used my phone to order an Uber which arrived in exactly two minutes. I got curious and looked at their Google reviews, almost all 1 star ratings, and then I understood. Dont waste a phone call; they are terrible beyond reason...

I booked a 3:30am ride from hotel to airport. I received the text confirmation. While I slept they sent me a message that they changed my reservation. When I woke at 3am and found the message I called and found they’d changed it to “will call”. Roughly translated, no one was coming. You can’t get an Uber or Lyft at 3:30am and no one else is open. Basically I was stranded. They didn’t get someone out to get me until 5am. I missed my flight. Every time I called to get an update I got mixed messages. It could not have been a worse overall experience with the booking. The driver was very nice. I hope I succeeded in not taking my frustrations out on him.

Worthless, pitiful, waste of time. I read the reviews and decided to risk it anyway. I mean what other option is there in Charlottesville- the city of poor transportation? I received auto-confirmation that the driver would take us to the airport at 5am. He never showed up. Fortunately there was a single Uber driver available in town, so we just made our flight. No joke- yellow cab called me as I was boarding the aircraft to say that they were at our pick-up location.... One hour late for pickup. I dont understand how a service-oriented business could be so terrible and still remain in business. Go with Uber to get where you need to be faster and cheaper.

And when the driver arrived, he said to the passenger, are you sure the cops wont be called.Why would you even send a car in the first place!!!??? I called for a 345am taxi to get to an early flight at the airport. Its now past 350am with no cabs in site. I called and they claimed someone was on the way. My honest review is just to only call this cab service if you are a 10-15 minute late type of person and not punctual. CHO to Cville city is $25 fixed. This is a decent price and if there are taxis waiting at the airport I grab one. - Thats an if- sometimes there are none waiting and having Lyft or Uber option on your phone is essential. I have also used Yellow Cab to go from the city to CHO (airport). Recently I reserved a day ahead, received a confirmation but the cab was a no show. I called and they could not send a driver quickly enough so I Ubered. When it works Yellow Cab is fine, but good to have a plan B

98% of drivers are friendly, this ine from africa, has written a true life book about african under ground and diamonds, the rebels.. his own expieriences you can get the book on amazon.. these drivers for most part are very friendly, polite, respectful, and admit and aplogize if they are mistaken., dispatchers very nice, been using them for over a year.. they aim to please, nice clean cabs

One of the worst cab services in Charlottesville. We reserved a pickup online from the airport for a family member, only to find out that they dont take their reservations seriously. I called them 15min after the booking and they said the reservations at the airport are mixed up so often so its really just first come first served. Pretty awful service since other cab companies are the same price, if not cheaper, with dedicated and personalized service. In summary: avoid if possible.

Ordered an early morning ride to the airport from a close-to-airport neighborhood a few days prior to flight. Received a confirmation. Taxi didn’t show- called and the automated response said it would be 65 minutes to wait. Cancelled and scrambled to order an Uber. Would give a zero star rating if I could. A call that morning informing me of not meeting the confirmation would have been less annoying.

Picked up a cab from the airport. Driver didnt start the meter, and overcharged by 50% once we reached the destination, judging by the cost of trips I have previously taken along the same route. He refused to give a receipt and would not let me pay by credit card, even though the cab was so equipped.

I called 45 minutes ago and the dispatcher said the website times were not reliable and it would be 20 minutes. I understand that companies get busy and I would not mind waiting an hour if that was the expectation. I would not recommend this service.

After receiving two confirmations the day before my reservation, a cab did not arrive for my early morning ride to the airport (which is only 1 mile from my home). With a quick call, an automated system told me they were still trying to find a driver for me and that an estimated wait time would be 30 minutes! Needless to say, this disregards the whole purpose of taking reservations and providing confirmations. Had to scramble and drop my car off in long-term parking. Very frustrating and disappointing. Why couldnt the automated system send me a text that a driver would not be arriving on time? It has done so with past trips to tell me a driver is on its way.

Spent 5 minutes on the phone and they couldnt even answer the simple question of what their rates are. Pitiful. In response to their reply, rates are easy, you have the drop charge (what the meter starts at), the rate per mile, and the rate for waiting time. He couldnt tell me any of these. I didnt ask for an estimate. Being a cabdriver, and part time dispatcher, you cant try to blow smoke up my butt with your double talk.

Constantly late, with little knowledge of locations. I was on crutches for 6 weeks and relied on YellowCab to get me to work and the Doctors. On several occasion I was late or missed appointments entirely, even though I had called for a cab a good 45 minutes beforehand. Would not recommend to anyone.

Cab driver pulled up and wouldnt even take the guy home because he was intoxicated and just drove away. ITS YOUR JOB to take people where they need to go. Either do it or get another job. Pretty much the only show in town, unfortunately every time you call them for what they call an estimate time of arrival its off by at least double what they say. Heck, sometimes they get there early, dont announce themselves and drive off and report a no show.The tracking app they have is useless. Ive tracked a cab on the way to my house and checked google maps to make sure.... that my driver stopped at a convenience store for a 20 minute detour (one I know doesnt have a fueling station).This is probably one of the worst ran businesses Ive ever experienced. Theres no managorial change that will fix what wrong with this company. Ive had at least 15-20 different drives, and Im confirmed for myself its a company culture.Any 5 star review here is fake, it doesnt make sense. Im actually emailing google so they can make sure.Seriously, help our community and stay away from this business.

Scheduled a cab online for the airport. Booking was confirmed and then they never showed up. Dispatch said 10 minute eta when I called at the scheduled time, then when I called ten minutes later they told me they didnt actually have any cabs on the road. I had to scramble at 430 in the morning to get my car and get to the airport. Cost me an extra $30 in parking.Generally their cabs are new cars and in good shape, and decent drivers, but I wouldnt count on the online scheduling feature.

Dishonest company. I scheduled a ride for my daughter on New Years Eve. I was told by the dispatcher that the fare would be FREE because she was coming home from a party. The driver (Antonio), however, refused to honor this promise and insisted my daughter pay a $15 fare. This was a scam in which the company or the driver lied to extract a fare. Stay away. I would not trust this operation. When I tried to object by responding to the text I received, it refused to accept my texts. I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but find this outfit disreputable.

EDIT: I have since talked with Mr. Bowles, General Manager. He has apologized for the glitch (computer malfunction) and personally delivered some restitution. While I am still disappointed in what happened below, they have been a good company dealing with my complaint. Easy change to 3-star and I look forward to giving them the chance again to earn a 5. I waited for 10 minutes called back and was told they were on the way the driver tried to call but my number wasnt working. Got a call from the driver seconds later, she was in the same spot dispatch had told me over 10 minutes ago!!!! Scrambled quickly to my car and called dispatch again who asked if I wanted another cab sent. Had to use long term parking, $70, and I almost missed my flight. Sent an email on Monday from the tarmac and I still have yet to hear from them. If you need reliable transportation, I would definitely choose someone else! Too bad Google doesnt allow zero stars.

It is 1:30 am and I have been waiting for an hour so far for a cab at the Charlottesville Airport. This happens to me every time I come into Charlottesville in a flight. I will be using Uber from now on. Interesting that you have a contract to have taxis here but often they are not here. Not very honorable in up holding your pledge.

Never use yellow cab of Charlottesville, never! I ordered a cab to bring me to the airport for a morning flight one day in a advance. When at the scheduled time the car did not show up, I called the company and they promised that the car will be at my house in 7 minutes. The lady explained me that they are busy and do not have enough drivers - the order was placed one day in advance! After 10 minutes passed I called them again and spoke directly to the driver, he ensured me that he will be there in 5 minutes and he is driving people for five years and he will make sure that I will make the flight. Guess what, the cab never showed up and I missed my flight, when I called the customer service again, they lied that the driver did not find me. Just lies lies and more lies, I waited on the street and not a single car passed by that early in the morning (confirmation message had the correct address). No apologies, no concern, not trying to solve the situation, nothing at all. Save yourself a lot of hassle and do not ever use this company!

Horrible. Booked through online and also called the evening before to confirm that they had my booking correct for taxi to airport. Never received a text to tell me that they were on the way so had to call the dispatcher who told me they didnt have any drivers available (this was 10 minutes before my scheduled pick up time!) Finally had a driver show up 20 minutes late, was late to airport, couldnt check in luggage, and almost missed my flight. Never use this service if you want to make your flight.

Really bad service. I booked online a day in advance and was given a confirmation number and sent multiple confirmation texts. The morning of the trip arrives and no taxi. When I call a robo-voice lets me know they are looking for drivers and there is no human to connect me to. I canceled the trip. Better off taking uber, which I did.

I dont use cab much, so i thought it would be best to make an appointment a day in advance to pick me up at 530am to take me to airport. At 545 am I called and they say they are looking for someone to pick me up and it would be a half hour. I told them i had a plane to catch and that i had scheduled a cab ride for 530, he says yes, we are working on it. It will be a half hour. I had to drive to airport and now i have to pay $9 a day for parking. Oh, by the way they did sow up....at 715, as we were taking off. Im just lucky I did have a car to get to airport.The moral of this story is..Yellow Taxi of Charlottesville is undependable and customer service doesnt care about their customers.

HORRIBLE CAB EXPERIENCE - THE CAB DID NOT SHOW UP TO TAKE ME TO MY JOB INTERVIEW, AND DID NOT CALL TO CANCEL. I flew in to Charlottesville for a job interview. The day before the interview, I booked a cab for the next morning at 9:05 am. I received automated calls later that day and the next morning asking me to confirm my request for a cab, which I did. At 9:09 am the morning of the interview, the cab hadn’t shown up yet. I called the cab company and received an automated message saying that they were still trying to find a driver and the approximate wait time would be 30 minutes. At that point I scrambled to find a Lyft or a Uber driver. I was fortunate enough to get a Lyft driver and barely made it to the interview on time. Ironically, I had decided to book a cab rather than try to go with Lyft or Uber because I wanted the assuredness of a driver being on time to take me to my interview. I won’t make that mistake again!

Called Yellow Cab for a 4.30 am pickup to the airport for a flight at 5.10am. Called to confirm at 12.30 am. At 4.40am, I call dispatch and my driver is no where to be found. Dispatch tells me that they will send another driver in 5 mins. No driver shows up. So I have to take my car and use long term parking, and I missed my flight. I call Yellow Cab to complain and I was told the Manager would call me. I end up paying extra for additional flight and the cost of the long term parking.If you need a ride use someone else, or just call the driver directly!! There is no accountability.

Absolutely horrible experience. I attended the Chris Stapleton concert at JPJ. I left early and walked to the Inn at Darden to avoid traffic and confusion when getting picked up. I called the number, have the automated system the address and got a confirmation text with a tracking link that updated the cabs location every 30 seconds. The estimated time was 6 minuets. I then watched the yellow cab drive by me, and continue down the road. The driver didn’t even try to turn into the Inn at Darden. I looked at the tracker and sure enough, the driver had gone by my location and got stuck in the one way traffic. I then called the cab company and got connected with the driver. He told me he got stuck in the traffic and he would be there in a few minutes. I confirmed my location and he then told me he would call me when he was pulling in. I waited another half hour watching him on the tracker in traffic. Then all of the sudden the ride was no longer active. They had canceled. I called back and the estimated time for a ride was 60 minuets. I cannot even begin to explain my fustration at this point. I made sure I was in a location that was accessible. I waited 40 minuets to not get a ride. I LITERALLY SAW MY DRIVER GO PAST MY LOCATION 10 MINUETS AFTER ORDERING THE RIDE. THEN PROCEED TO GET STUCK IN TRAFFIC. This is absolutely unacceptable. I will never be recommending or calling yellow cab again. I had to call my mother and wake her up to call me an Uber because my phone was on 1% and I did not have the Uber app. The Uber got there in 3 minuets and the driver was a pleasure. DO NOT EVER USE YELLOW CAB.

I was flying out relatively early, so I scheduled the cab the day in advance to avoid the potential of not being able to get an Uber when I needed it. Cab wasn’t there at the pickup time. I called the office and they told me they would “dispatch” one as soon as possible and then got rude with me. That’s why I scheduled it ahead of time - so you could “dispatch” it ahead of time. I called an Uber, which got there before the cab they “dispatched” and was cheaper. I’ll just plan on that next time - thanks Yellow Cab!

Surprisinglt pleasant. Called at 4:30am to go to the airport desperate since there were no Ubers or lyfts available. Phone dispatch is automated and I was weirded out by the fact that you verbally state your address and they confirm it, without an estimated pickup time. Reserved online as well since I wasnt sure it went through. Phone reservation came 18 minutes later and the online reservation arrived after I left.

Will keep you waiting with no regards to you as a customer. Will quote you an inaccurate time for pick up then catch an attitude for calling back asking for an update. Cab drivers are rude and expect mega tips and if you dont then they will continue on with their rude attitude. TERRIBLE COMPANY.

Doesnt even deserve one star. Horrible service!!! I scheduled the day before for a 445 am pickup. At 5 am they still were a no show. I call again and she says theu are one minute away. The cab driver says he didnt get a call for he didnt get a call to pick me up until 454 am. DO NOT use yellow cab. Uber or private driver strongly suggested. You will be late if you depend on yellow cab!

This past weekend, I had a reservation with Yellow Cab for a 5am pick-up going to the airport. This reservation was made 48 hours in advance. By 4:55am I had yet to receive a confirmation text so I called the dispatcher only to be told that all available cabs were currently on their way to the airport with other customers but that one of them could pick me up afterwards (this would have meant that they would be at least 30 minutes late, if not more, which is no good for someone with a flight to catch). To quote Seinfeld, this company knows how to take reservations, but they just dont know how to hold reservations. And thats really the most important part of the reservation: the holding. I ended up cancelling my reservation and calling an Uber. For anyone thats worried, apparently there are typically around four or so Ubers available near the UVA campus early on Sat/Sun mornings.

By far the most dysfunctional company in existence. They are understaffed and rude ..instead of fixing the issue they allow CONSTANT turnover and treat their employees like DIRT!! Also some drivers need training because they are driving RECKLESSLY. Who ever is in charge here... needs a reality check.Save your time. Save your money. Respect people and take an uber or a lyft.

Most unreliable cab service ever. Ive missed two trains thanks to this cab company, despite reserving a ride the night before with plenty of time to spare. I got a free ride the first time, didnt even hear back from them the second time. Cabs have taken an hour+ to arrive. I will be using ride share apps from now on.

Not honest!On Oct 10, I ordered a taxi to be at the university at 11:15h. I ordered teh taxi one hour ahead. The cab wasnt there on time so I called back. A ladey told me 7-8minutes. Well again, nothing happened. 15 minutes later I called again. They said it was en route and due scheduling difficulties it was late. It should be there in 5 minutes. After half an hour I gave up. I missed my apointment across town.This is is totally ridiculous. They should just honestly tell me, Sorry, we dont have a taxi. Instead they want to have just the business. You create total customer dissatisfacion and I will never use this company again!
