Its been a year since I purchased a vacuum from Himebaughs and I am still thrilled with my purchase and the customer service experience I received. It literally is the best retail experience in my 15 years in Charlotte. This is a small town shopping experience in a big city. They are knowledgeable, took the time to thoroughly demonstrate their products, and sold me exactly what I needed. Dont waste your time trying to save a few bucks at a big box store. Just go to Himebaughs for your new vacuum. Youll be glad you did!

Norm is the awesome! I wish I had words to describe how I felt. His customer service is the BEST I have seen. Very passionate, very caring about his work. I decided to purchase my next machine from him. The BEST decision I have made. He walked me through every concern I had and took the time to show me the features of my new machine. He didnt let me walk out the door without knowing the features of my machine. You can tell just from talking to him, he knows his sewing machines. If you want someone you can trust, you can count on Norm. In fact, I trust him so much, I may get my vacuum from him. 5 stars is not enough. You WILL NOT go wrong.

I needed a new vacuum, and my peers recommended Himebaughs. The owner (Norm) is very knowledgeable about his products and industry, and gave me a thorough product demonstration. He recommended I purchase an upright for carpets as well as a different vacuum for hardwoods, because they perform the best. I did not like the idea of having to use 2 different vacuums, so I purchased an all-in-one, as well as a broom (small vacuum for quick clean-ups). As soon as I started using my purchases in my home, I second guessed my decision. Norm has an easy return policy. (You can return the item, even if you’ve used it, with receipt, within 14 days.) Since this is an item I use constantly in my home, and it is a long-term purchase (my previous vacuum lasted 20 years) purchasing the right one is valuable to me. So I went back to Himebaughs and purchased 2 more vacuums (the upright for carpets and the other for hardwoods). I “test-drove” all 4 of my vacuums for about a week. I noticed my tendency was to grab the vacuum that worked the best (upright for carpets and other for hardwoods). Noise level and convenience of an all-in-one or broom apparently did not make a difference to me, as I had previously thought. I returned the all-in-one and broom. The return was easy. Norm takes pride in his business and industry, and had a lot of enthusiasm for me taking this approach to purchasing vacuums. I have now had my vacuums for almost 2 months, and am so happy with them, and without having had the opportunity to really “test-drive” these items, I probably would have ended up with something else.

I bought my new Husqvarna Viking sewing machine from Norm at Himebaughs Sewing and Vacuum a short while before the lockdown for COVID-19 happened in March of 2020. My machine arrived at the shop the last afternoon that the shop was open. I was working and couldn’t get over to the shop before closing, so Norm offered to BRING MY NEW MACHINE OUT TO MY HOUSE, so that I could have it during the lockdown! This was customer service above and beyond the call of duty, and Himebaughs has a customer for life in me. I love my machine as well! Norm helped me to find exactly what I needed.

About 2 months ago I bought Norms video on sewing machine repair. I was thoroughly impressed with Norms teaching ability and style. His video is incredibly thorough so that whether youre new to repairing sewing machines or have been in the business for years there is something everyone can take away from it. It is clear, interesting, to the point and takes you through explaining step-by-step not just how to fix or adjust a machine but more importantly WHY to make that repair/adjustment. Norms philosophy is to try to get the student to see how the various systems in a machine work independently so that one can see how they all ultimately work together. Norms video was worth every penny and made me a better tech as a result. In addition to the video, Norm has become a true friend. I felt moved to call him from the excitement I felt after watching his video. It just so happened at the time I was having a great difficulty with one machine in particular. He spent several hours (total) talking with me on the phone, exchanging texts, etc. helping me get the machine fixed. He didnt have to, Norm simply loves to talk machines and help others and in the end didnt charge me a dime for all of his time.Sincerely humbled and thankful for his attitude and willingness to teach others. After getting to know Norm he will always shoot you straight and if he fixes a machine he truly goes the extra step to make sure not only that your machine can sew, but so that the machine sews freely and the most efficiently as possible.Highly recommend!!!

Just writing to say Norm is awesome. I am new to the area, a professional quilter and I own many many machines. I experienced issues with my Viking designer diamond on Saturday night. As luck would have it I am in the middle of preparing for a craft show and can not afford any significant down time with my machine. I searched the area and read reviews praising Norm. I called Monday morning, right as they opened, to discuss my problem and see what kind of down time I could expect to get service. Norm spent at least a half hour in the phone with me in two separate calls and was able to get me fixed over the phone!!!! He is truly a professional. At no benefit to himself he has got me up and running with better results than I had prior to the issue arising. He may not have made any money off of me today but all my Viking needs will go through him in the future.Patricia HarshmanLakeside quilts and crafts

This past February I brought my 24 yr old Elnita to Himebaughs Sewing Center as it was not sewing correctly. I had recently moved to Charlotte so this was my first experience with this store. Norm identified and showed me problems my machine was having and they ALL made sense and explained why it was not sewing well. He couldnt promise me he could find new feed dogs but he said he would look and said how much the repairs would be. At that point my eyes turned to the new Elna machines they had in the store! Judy demonstrated the one I was interested in and that was it! I purchased an Elna 340 and love to sew with this machine. I took my old machine and wooden cabinet (which was from my original Singer over 40 years ago) and delivered it to Goodwill. Elna 340 is a simple machine and similar to my former one, but I am looking forward to being with Norm and Judy to take some lessons and learn to use my machine to the fullest. Grateful for this shop to be so near to me!

My vacuum was at least 17 years old, and I unexpectedly needed to replace it. They gave me time to get used to the idea, as we looked at options. Based on the vacuum I had brought in, and my description of my house, Norm was able to advise me on a replacement. Judy demonstrated the different models and was as friendly as Norm was. I had taken my Brand X machine to every shop I could find, including the one I had used for the past 20+ years, and no one would touch it. Most places just berated the machine as junk and tried to sell me a new one. When I got the referral to try Himebaughs I thought Here we go again. But glad I tried one more time. I hit the jackpot!Norm was familiar with my machine, but was not an authorized center for that brand. However he gave me honest advice about what was likely wrong and best/worst case scenario. While I was in the shop, I began chatting with a long time customer who essentially sold me on Himebaughs and their Viking priducts. I asked a few questions and Norm showed me a machine within my price range. Not pushy sale, just informative. Before we left an hour later, my husband and I bought a machine. That is not the best part. Norm called 2 days later letting me know of the west coast strike and delay in getting machine. He knew I had no working machine and his exact words were I want to make this right for you. He actually made me a deal on his floor model and went without a display model for several weeks so I could have a machine. The lifetime classes are true. Sure, the one on one time means interruptions when customers come in, but the personalized lessons are wonderful. I have been sewing for 40 years and taught computer classes, but Judy and Norm are so knowledgeable that I get a full mindful every lesson. And either Norm or Judy are available if I have questions...and I have tested that assertion!Bottom line: I love my Viking and Judy and Norm are the best! They are highly ethical craftsmen and master technicians; they treat their customers like family. I have purchased a Riccar sewing machine and three Sanitaire vacuum cleaners over the years, all of which have been extremely high quality with no problems ever. I have taken old vacuum cleaners to them and they fixed them like new. I have stopped in with questions or advice, which were answered promptly and with a smile. Norm is an amazing person. He is super knowledgeable and very meticulous. He’s also fun to talk sewing machines with. Norm knows sewing machines like no other! From the very first phone call to his company to the very last call he and Judy were a delight.I live in Georgia and had witnessed on 2 different occasions complaints about repairs to one of the local dealers. I had also heard from some customers about repairs taking weeks longer than expected, and when picked up from being serviced / repaired they were still not working correctly. I was even told by one of the sales staff at that store, “this poor lady had just purchased a lemon” a very expensive one might I add. Sad for her that she was unable to get her machine repaired properly. Per Norm there is no such thing as a lemon… just bad repair people. I agree after reading many stories on the Internet about bad repairs.I then began my search for the best sewing machine repair person that I could possibly find. After inquiring around and doing a few Internet searches I ran across one place that stood out… Himebaughs Sewing and Vacuum in North Carolina. I knew after just one conversation with Norm the owner, that he was the right person and the one that I would trust with my machine. I have a top of line Husqvarna Sewing / Embroidery that was super expensive when I purchased it, so I was not going to trust just any shop with the repair of it. With Norm’s instruction I shipped my sewing machine to North Carolina. When I received it back the machine runs flawlessly and sounds quieter than it did the day I purchased it. Norm did an amazing job and I have enjoyed sewing on it since it returned home. He is the best!!!!I definitely recommend Himebaughs to anyone who is having an issues with their sewing machine and wants it fixed correctly / meticulously. Hope Norm never retires. Thank you Norm and Judy!

Recently I took a serger repair class with Norm at Himebaughs Sewing & Vacuum Center. Norm is an incredibly knowledgeable person with nearly four decades of experience. He has a true passion for sewing machines that he wants to share with others. He teaches, not mere mechanical settings of the machine, but also from a perspective an understanding of the very principles of what makes the sewing machine work - an understanding essential to making proper diagnosis and repair. He has (and teaches) an eye to detail...not just so the machine sews but so that it sews properly and at optimum performance. After spending time with Norm I not only feel more confident servicing sergers but know that my customers will have a machine that is performing at its best. For anyone wanting to learn serger repair I would highly recommend the class. The frustration I no longer have when working on these machines was worth the price alone.

I can go into the store and get a lesson from Judy. Not only are they willing to help me whenever I go in, but they truly love what they do. I, as a customer, can see that. When someone genuinely loves what they do, it shows.Since Ive gotten such great customer service there in regards to my sewing machine, I have also brought in my vacuums. Norm is so generous and always helps me figure out whats wrong. Its the extra mile that he goes to that makes such a difference. It makes me want to go back and have my friends and neighbors go there too. Norm knows what hes talking about and as a customer, it feels so good to know that hes going to fix a problem and make it right. He just doesnt sell you a vacuum belt or a piece that you need; he makes sure everything is in working order before you leave the store.Norm & Judy have spent so much time with me. They never make me feel Im bothering them or coming in at a bad time. Once, Norm even opened up his shop for me when he was closed because I really wanted to look at a sewing machine and was in the area.
