Run, run as fast as you can from this business. The owner of this business is in it for wealth, not health. There is a fee for everything. This place was recommended by a well known hospital that really cares nothing about mental illness. The parent of an adult bipolar patient realized that the patient was being charged for each visit and not receiving all services. The owner called the parent of the patient basically to see if a law suit was possible. Shortly after, a letter was received stating that services could no longer be rendered. Ain’t that a blimp. The owner is also too cheap to place literature in sitting area.
We are still attending this office, because we simply did not understand at first that there are other full service mental health practices that offer a better continuum of healthcare experiences. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services(CMS) would be happy to know that out of three aims for healthcare (Triple Aim: Improving the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction); Improving the health of populations; and reducing the per capita cost of health care). Simply put, quality, access and cost-wise are the aims. In our opinion they got one right out of the expected three healthcare initiative. With us the patient quality of care has been a hit and miss. They have plenty of appointment available for the population to access. However, for the medicine consult and the counseling visits they charge for two separate fees. If you miss an appointment you pay about $80.00. The front end staff does not practice privacy of patients sensitive information. I pray that they secure private protected information (PPI). Nor are they savvy concerning basic information such as medical records handling for timely care. They do not fill out some forms. The atmosphere is surprisingly very straightforward but no depth in cultural competency (needs work). Or it depends upon where you are seeking help. This just my opinion, nor do I own the rights to any of this information.
Im extremely disappointed in this facility. Billing your insurance and collecting your co-pay are the priority here. I started going here for grief counseling after my mom passed away in February. I started going during the pandemic. My first visit I notice that the front office staff was unfriendly, unprofessional and clearly had no dress code. But I was here to gain help with my loss. I had 5 or 6 scheduled sessions and showed up for what would be my last appointment on November 16th. I arrived on time and waited 10 minuets for the counselor. We go into his office and he takes the first few minuets to tell me that he has been out for a week with a high fever. I ask him did you get a covid19 test he responds NO! I put my mask back on and I advise the doctor that I can not remain comfortably knowing hes had a recent fever and that my appointment should have been canceled by his office. Instead of a yes youre right the counselor says well we are on the clock now. That response surprised me. I went on to say we spent 3 minutes for you to tell me youre sick and Im leaving and I expect my co pay back. I go to the desk and advise them of what just happened she tells me she needs management ok to refund back my $50...what? They try to get me to reschedule that day and I decline. November 30th I get a message at 9:06am that I need to call them for missing my appointment this morning at 9am. WHAT? I NEVER BOOKED THIS APPOINTMENT!! I called and was advised that Im being charged a no show fee for not showing up to an appointment I never booked. I will never use this facility patient care is not the priority. I should have read the reviews first.
I started out with a doctor that I enjoyed seeing but now I have someone who doesn’t take the time to pronounce my name correctly no matter how many times I’ve tried to correct her. I also feel as if they don’t take the time to get to know their patients and their background information. My last visit was with someone completely new (they didn’t tell me I’d have a new person when they made the reminder call). She spent five minutes asking me about my medication, changed a few, then sent me home. My appointment lasted less than 20 minutes. I recommend finding another place.
I have been coming to CEH for over a year now. I have always had the upmost respect from all faculty and the most understanding about my feelings/what is going on in my personal life. Sure, any place involving medicine and insurance can be frustrating, but to find a place that understands is outstanding! I’ve gone to 4 different places prior for therapy and medication but this place wants you to succeed! When I didn’t have insurance, the billing department worked with the location to help me as much as they could. If you are in need of a place to receive services for your personal needs, this is the spot!
The Center for emotional health on University in Charlotte is by far the best doctors office in town! Today I went with my wife to her appointment it was her first visit. We were very pleased with the service! The front desk receptionst (Michelle) was very nice polite and helpful! She was very warming and understanding very positive attitude! From the time my wife first called to make her appointment she just cared and understood exactly what we we going through! It’s hard to find a good doctor office that makes you feel right at home and in good hands and here is a place that has made us feel all those things! We got turned around on the directions and she took the time to guide us straight to the door!
This is a business not a clinic. They just want your money and are impossible to get in touch with or get paperwork from. The people on the phone almost always have an attitude and many nurses just say that something isnt their problem so they dont have to deal with it. Dont go here under any reason.
Extremely hard to get a hold of. Lazy with paperwork. Front can be a bit short with you at times. Waited on getting pre-authorization for medication for 2 weeks because it had to be redone and a nurse never told the doctor and no one knew until I went in for my meds check (meds I couldnt get) and they still wanted to make me pay my copay...
GO AT YOUR OWN RISKHello, my name is Ebony and I was a patient at Center for Emotional health (university location). On June 25 2018, I had my 2nd appointment there for med management. I work 3rd shift so after returning to work without the proper meds, without the proper sleep I was in a very bad place. I called the office to let them know that I would be 10 minutes late. I was notified by the office manager (I believe her name was Kim) that you all have a 7 min policy. I told her I understood that and tried to make her understand how important this appointment was to me in hopes that you all could wait an extra 3 minutes for my arrival. She was extremely dismissive and eventually did state she could schedule another appointment for me. I explained that medicine was not working, I still felt bad (depressed) and I did not know if I could make it to the next appointment. She continued to speak over me never letting me finish my statement, what she didnt know is that when I said “I dont know if I’ll make it to the next appointment,” I was speaking of contemplating suicide. I was having a manic episode and the reason why I was referred to CFEH wasn’t being addressed and I was scared for my safety. Because she kept cutting me off, I ended up yelling, “B*tch, stop talking over me and cutting me off. I’m a regular person, I’m just going through something and I need help. I dont want you to keep cutting me off. I’ll just come up there so I can speak with someone face to face,” the entire time I was talking I could still hear her trying to interject and finally she said she had totally discharged me from the office because I threatened her. I NEVER THREATENED HER. Me saying I was coming up there must had made her feel that way but never did I issue a threat. At that time, I asked for her supervisors info and she hung up on me. I called back, she answered and I asked for her supervisors info again she only repeatedly yelled over me, “You’ve been discharged from the office!” I told her I didnt care (curse words were involved) because at this point I still want to speak with her supervisor. She then gave me the supervisors name, I thanked her and then asked for the supervisors contact info, she hung up again. I called back and without a greeting I was transferred to her supervisor who told me she doesnt handle those kinds of things and sent me to another womans voicemail, I left a message requesting a call back because of how I was treated. That was on June 25th, I have yet to receive a call back.I want you all to know that many of your patients who are going through things already feel invisible, the office manager made that feeling even worse. Her actions could had sent me over the edge to hurt myself. I cried the rest of that day and had to take FMLA because trying to work while going through this pain was unbearable. I want you all to know that after suffering bipolar and depression traits from an abusive childhood, I still continued to treat my customers at my job the right way. I had a customer once tell me he hates me because of his billing and called me multiple slurs. By the end of that call he apologized for what he said BECAUSE I REMAINED PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. I work in health insurance... no reason why I should necessarily have to tolerate that behavior but as an office manager of a facility who assists people with their psychological/mental health, she SHOULD KNOW HOW to handle people being in a manic state. My ONLY support system, my bestfriend, died just 1.5 weeks before June 25th in a terrible car accident at 30 years old. It sent me into a depression I couldnt get out of. A depression so deep that I went to the hospital asking for help because my primary care physician wasn’t open yet.THESE are the things real people experience that your office manager Kim Gwen (or Glen) at the university location obviously needs to be trained on handling with CARE and CONCERN and PROFESSIONALISM.
I was running late for an appointment so I called ahead to let them know lady on the phone said ok. When I show up they said they cant see me. Wasted my time.
The upper management of this company is very cheap, and does not care about their employees.
The front desk staff at this facility are very unfriendly and unprofessional.
