We had to bring our very sick pup in on a Saturday. The emergency vet who saw our baby had the hard job of telling us that our little love was at the end of her life. It was very traumatic for me to hear and I cried so hard. The vet was so gentle and kind. We felt she was thorough in her diagnostic which was more than our regular vet ever did for us. We were well informed and supported by this clinic. We decided to take our baby home with some fluids and tummy meds and enjoy our last few days together. Now that everything is settled from the turbulence, I didnt want to miss this opportunity to praise this facility for helping us out kindly during a very difficult time.

Today was one of our family’s hardest days. The wonderful people here made us feel so safe and comforted. We didn’t make it to them in time to save our cat Ruby, but they took us in and walked us through everything as far as next steps. They were extremely respectful and loving. Thank you thank you thank you! We are forever indebted.

One of the absolute worst. I agree, they only want money. Time management was absolutely awful. Was there 5 hours for a very simple procedure.

Fantastic experience with this vet. We were fortunate to have come when they werent terribly busy and they got us in right away. The vet called shortly after and gave her assessment, then performed a small surgical procedure to clean out a swollen bite wound. The techs were also very helpful and friendly. I was also pleasantly surprised at the cost of the visit. Would definitely come here again.

They saved my dogs life. Thats the bottom line.We rushed here when our dog had very serious issues with labored breathing. The staff took our dog in immediately and gave us regular updates. It was scary and nerve-racking, but everyone was helpful and understanding. Our dog is in the middle of his recovery and everyone at Carolina Veterinary Specialist has been incredibly helpful. Im very grateful to the surgeons, specialists, nurses and everyone here!

We arrived at 6:27 6/4. At almost 8 they came out, checked her in, and got dog. At 10:30 I called and was told our dog was next. At 11:00 doctor called and said she was dehydrated and they were doing procedure and would have her out in 20 minutes and that receptionist would call me for payment. At almost 11:30, dog was brought out and I was told to call and pay. Told at checkin I suspected tick iordehydration. Lots of sorry, sorry, sorry, but worst time management I have ever seen. Will ask vet for another recommendation should we need after hours visit.

Our beloved Gingetsnap had been fighting an autoimmune disease for about a year and a half. When we were out of town they helped her immediately and we were able to love her for an additional 2 months. When the time came to say goodbye, they were fantastic in how they handled it and helped us make a very difficult decision. Thank you for helping us do what was right for our beloved Gingetsnap.

I wouldn’t say everyone here is heartless, I’m sure some specialists are more caring than others, but if you want your fur baby to stay alive and not be given random medication because the specialist isn’t sure what’s wrong, but she doesn’t want to get a certain test done to see if she has that certain illness and won’t give you a reason why, then I do NOT recommended the specialist Kathleen Bonawandt. My parents and I took one of our fur babies to see this woman, because the previous vet had suspicions that our baby, Winter, may have either cancer, lymphoma or Leukemia. They did blood work, and found that she had a low white blood cell count, and they started to suspect that it was Leukemia, but weren’t totally sure. She didn’t recommended us getting a bone marrow test. She said it would be painful. We were fully aware that it would be, but it sounded like she wasn’t telling us everything. So she sends us off with some Doxycycline and tells us to come back 10 days later. We come back, and tell her that Winter had started to limp on all four legs, and she said that her joints are hurting from whatever was infecting her joints, so she takes more blood, and sends us home with Prednisone for her joints, and told us that this medication will make her slightly pant, drink a lot more, and be hungry. She calls us back and says that she is giving Winter another prescription called Cirofloxcacin, which helps with stubborn bacteria, because at this point she believed it was some sort of infectious disease, and may I remind you, the bone marrow test was not done. She’s been on this medication for almost a month now, and she had been getting worse. She had begun to breath very heavily, back legs were going out on her, her belly looked like a pot belly, and she was losing hair on her nose. My dad tried calling Winters specialist, but was told by a receptionist that the specialist had gone on vacation, and that she’ll leave a voicemail for her when she gets back. Unbelievable. She never bothered telling her pateints that she was going on vacation, and she didn’t even give us a substitute specialist to work with while she was gone. Very irresponsible of her. The day she was supposed to come back, she was supposed to call us, but she didn’t call us until 2 days later. When we get a hold of her, she confirms that Winter has Leukemia, and the reason for all the heavy breathing, hair loss, enlarged stomach and losing control of her back legs, was because of the Prednisone. She only told us that it would make her pant, drink alot and eat a lot, not have more servere side effects. By this time, it was too late to do anything. Chemo would have killed Winter faster because of the condition she was in. So we made her as comfy as we could, and gave her all of her favorite foods. On January 10, 2019, we lost our baby to Leukemia. The prednisone killed her faster. This woman killed our baby. We lost a piece of our family and our hearts are broken. We will never come back to this place. I hope that woman reads this too. You should be ashamed of how you perform your practice.
