I took my RV here to Gregs Truck, Tire and Auto Repair on 8/2/2021 due to the good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was not positive like the other reviews. Greg told me he was not going to give me a price, he would just knock it out. Because of the glowing reviews I said ok and dropped off my RV on 8/2/2021 and picked it up 8/5/2021. He did not do the work I asked him to do except for one thing - replace a tire - and he hired that out. For the rest he made notes about each broken item, either that it was needing repair or that it was working fine and for that he charged me an additional $300. One thing I asked him to fix (a torn rubber bushing - see picture) he never addressed. One other item - a tail light - he did not fix and sounded very frustrated because he could not find the part because it was an RV part, not a car part. I found similar tail lights online, so I will be replacing that myself. To his credit he was quite helpful pointing out what to look for. Total bill was over $500 and I paid him. I took the RV home and fixed a couple things myself - replaced a fuse ($6 from Napa) and fixed the landing gear ($20 in parts plus several hours figuring it out). In addition to the creative billing and not doing what I asked, he sounded bothered whenever I called or asked questions and was sometimes even quite short with me, despite the fact that I was always polite in return.

Great place very cool owner. We had a blowout on our travel trailer. We wanted to just get 4 new tires. We called Gregs and he found us the correct tires and installed them and pretty much saved our trip. He and his staff are super nice to deal with. Highly recommend. Thanks Greg !

Greg is the man! After calling several places for help with my boat trailer and no luck, I was happy to find him by searching Champaign trailer repair on Google. He met me at 7 a.m. the next morning after a call with a cup of coffee in his hand ready to get started. A couple hours later I was on the road and back to fishing! Price was fair, and he was honest from my initial phone call until I paid the bill. He even worked with me and used some parts I had bought back when I thought I was handy enough to do the work myself 🤣 Ill be back again when my vehicles or toys need help. Thanks Greg!

I have used Gregs for years - with many different cars and have had nothing but amazing service - Even when they misdiagnosed, he willingly met me half way. The guys and lady in office have always been nice and respectful and willing to explain further. I would recommend them to anyone at any time!

DO NOT GO HERE. They ruined my vehicle to the point where it didn’t run anymore. If you want to throw money away this is the place. They will make you order your own parts, lose the parts, and break them and also make you pay for them again! Gregs truck and auto destroy is really a graveyard for your wallet and car. Please do yourself a favor and do not go here you will be better off fixing your car on your own.

We highly recommend Greg’s! We were so lucky to have found his shop after having a late night blowout on our 5th wheel travel trailer. He did a great job repairing some major axle/tire/brake damage and kept us in the loop through the process. He even kept the trailer plugged in so our food didn’t spoil in the fridge. Kind, efficient and thorough. We feel fortunate to have found him!

While traveling through Illinois, our wheel broke off our 5th wheel on the interstate. Limped it into Gregs. Greg took care of us, ordered the parts he didnt have and got them in the next day. Parts came in and he continued to complete the repairs. Greg got us out of there before noon and we were back on the road. Greg was very accommodating, did a great job, prices were fair and took care of us as if were were family. Highly recommend and if we lived in the area, this would be where I would be bringing my cars/RV.

Ive been satisfied with the other mechanic I’ve been to in town, but sometimes they could take days before they would be able to look at it, diagnose the problem, and fix it...their work was good but I started to delay service to my car because going days without it could be a hassle. Had a car issue last week that I was really hoping to get taken care of quickly so I decided to try Greg’s as they had helped a friend of mine recently with very quick service. Called on Monday, brought it in day of and they figured out what was wrong immediately. Drove it home and came back Wednesday after they had ordered the part and it was ready within a few hours. Extremely convenient for me. A few days and a couple of long drives later and the problem hasn’t resurfaced. Couldn’t be happier with the speed, the price, and quality of work. Definitely will be back for my service needs in the future!edit: forgot to mention Greg offered me a choice between the parts he ordered and was very honest about the differences between the two...never had someone do that before. That and a couple other things would leave me to believe this is an honest business with integrity!

I took my pickup truck to Greg after abortively trying to find an affordable mechanic (who would actually call me back) for an inner axle seal and wheel bearing. When he got it apart, he noted that I also needed new U-joints and brake pads/rotors (the brake parts didnt shock me, as I knew it was long due).I was even quoted at least $1300 for the same repair from other local shops -- and that didnt include the brake parts or U-joints.Greg & his mechanics did a great job getting my pickups repair completed in a quick and affordable manner. This was the first time I had to personally use his service and I will always recommend him to people looking for a good shop. My truck is a business asset and very important to my work, so its great to have a mechanic who can get it in and out (instead of waiting 2 weeks just to look at it)!

Wanted a trailer hitch repair. Parts no longer made. Found a guy in Texas who fixes this type of hitch. Told Greg about it and he told me to take a hike. He is not business friendly. He Flys the POW flag but just for show. Signed a USAFVet.

Superb service! Had a tires lug nut studs ALL shear off fully loaded 24 foot trailer. Lost the rim, lost the tire, and 3 hours from destination. Definitely desperate. Greg went over and beyond great service. He knew exactly what parts we needed and actually had them in stock. Made sure we were back on the road safely with correct parts and in record time. His pricing was great. I would definitely recommend this company.

I have had nothing but great experiences with Greg and his shop!He did a pre-purchase inspection on a vehicle for me in 2018 and he was able to quickly steer me away from a horrible purchase decision.Just recently, after putting my vehicle into the ditch during bad weather, I took it to Greg to have it checked out. He brought me into the shop and showed me all of the debris that had been forced into the brakes along with the normal wear and tear that indicated it was time for a full brake job.After making an appointment and showing up on time I was in and out quickly with new brakes and an overall safer vehicle thanks to Greg and his crew.

Got me right in! By the time I was pulling in my driveway they were calling to tell me what they found. The guys had my repairs done the same day! The price wasn’t bad at all. I’d recommend them to everyone!!!!

Stressed and with bad damage to the rear passenger side of my hatchback, I showed up and these guys helped. Id kissed a dumpster with my brand new (to me) car without collision insurance. Two windows, their frames and the quarter panel took a crunch. Gregs kindly cleaned up the glass and patched it until a salvage door could arrive; the patch lasted through a 10 inch snowfall. The replacement door (I ordered and they installed) is watertight and functions well. My bad week ended to an unexpected positive experience-- authentically pleasant. Already went back for new tires; Greg also helped me sort things out with my retired ride. The works good, personable, honest and affordable. Mechanics here are really into it: expect to see semi trailers, trucks, cars, motorcycles and classics.

Not going back. Took my vehicle in for vibration in the front. Was told they had the tires balanced and test drove it up to 70 mph. As soon as I got on the interstate the next day the vibration was still there. Ended up being a tire that was separating. The irritating part is that when I called to discuss resolving my complaint Greg hung up on me.

Terrible place to go, told them to diagnose the problem let us know the problem and the cost before they fixed it, they fixed without calling, and couldnt be more rude when we dropped the vehicle off, unprofessional

My truck had a hard to diagnose repair. It took a week of figuring out what was wrong. Yet he drove me to work, loaned me a car, and showed me the replaced parts. For all he did and the time involved the price tag was nowhere near what I expected. And the truck runs great! You dont get all the dealership glamour and glitz; what you get is quality service at a reasonable price.

Greg and Barbie were incredibly helpful and understanding of our situation. My husband and I were passing through Champaign in our old 96 International bus and had been having problems with overheating and leaking coolant. Rush Truck is one of the only places we knew of that deal with our particular vehicle but they are always reluctant to give us straight answers, part numbers, reasonably priced service, etc. Obviously this can pose a problem when youre traveling cross country in a less-than-reliable bus. Greg and Barbie were more than happy to answer our questions, identified the problem almost immediately (weve had this issue looked at several times since Oregon state), were very reasonably priced, and had us on our way in much less time than expected. We are very grateful to have found them!Happy customers

I will just say; I am big on professionalism, rapport, and quality work, and this shop lacked this! Bottom line, dont try to get over on people (no matter their race, gender, or economic status); treat everyone fairly.I took my car (thermostat was overheating) to this shop based on my mother feeling like she received good work from them (keep in mind she never met the mechanics, and she did not have a diagnostic run), but come to find out later, she was informed by a few other shops that she was overcharged for her work. However that is neither here nor there; people charge how they like in their place of business.I however did not have a good encounter at all. The rapport with the staff was very lack luster/non existent, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. The receptionist was on the phone the whole time arguing with someone when I arrived; she was talking to me in regard to what I needed, but more so in tune to whomever she was on the phone with. Seemed like a personal call that should have been handled when she was not on the clock (she kept referencing an account of some sort that seemingly had nothing to do with the shop).A couple of the mechanics came in and out of work area, but never acknowledged my presence when seeing me sitting in the waiting area. There was a dog there in a dog pen that was more in tune to me then the staff (Im kind of joking, but its the truth).My mom was outside waiting, just in case I had to leave the car there for a few hours. Greg went out to get the car, and my mom spoke to him a bit outside (I was on the phone with her, so I could hear them). She said that he moved the car to their back lot area, but never seen him pop the hood, and then he drove it down the street and came back and said; shes dead, shes got a blown head gasket. (I should have took that as a hint, and been suspicious then). I came outside after that, and he told me the same thing, and then told me about about around how much that would cost, but he would not advise spending that much, but he would take my money if that is what I wanted to do. He then proceeded to tell me about someone he knew that was selling a car. I just smiled and said that I was not interested in spending that much on fixing my old 2003 car.I planned to leave after that, but he said that he would like to keep it overnight to further look at it; this is not something I requested. I said ok, and my mom took me back to work. The next day I called during my lunch break to inquire about my car, since I had received no calls from the shop. The receptionist answered, and very lack luster said that she believes he had not even looked at my car yet. I asked when I should expect to receive a call from them this time, since they are the ones that would know when my car would be diagnosed, so I am not playing phone tag. She then proceeded to yawn in my ear, said excuse me, and then said; yeah, well call you when he has looked at it.I got a call around 3-something, and she said Greg had completed his diagnostic; advised of the same diagnosis he provided the day prior. She told me what he said the parts and labor would cost, and then told me I would owe $80 for the diagnostic. I did not think anything of the price of the diagnostic at the time of the call, because I was still thinking about my car having a blow head gasket.To sum it up. I came back a couple of days later to get the car, and the staff was unprofessional again, and tried to make us look stupid because I did not notice their pricing signs amidst other papers on the counter, and then I was later told to get my car, leave and dont come back. Come to find out, my antifreeze reservoir just was not full enough from when I had poured some in a couple of days prior, and I needed some more oil. But supposedly they ran a diagnostic; if he opened the hood, he would have seen the antifreeze was gone, but I thought maybe he had done that, but failed to mention this to me before I left; or that it was a symptom of a blown head gasket.

I went to Gregs in June 2018 to get an estimate to replace motor mounts on my 97 Blazer. I also got quotes for this work from three other repair shops in Champaign-Urbana. Gregs was the lowest cost and they completed the work the next day. Their customer service was great and I would definitely recommend them.

Im extremely happy with the quality of repair at Gregs. My 2004 Toyota Sienna AWD was having disturbing issues with the steering - it was a high pitch squealing sound when I turned the wheel. I also had issues with the check engine and VSC light being constantly lit on my dash. Ive brought this car to the Toyota dealer and they didnt have a solution for it, Greg was able to fix this issue! The customer service and communication was good. Barbie let me know what was going on after the diagnostic and what needed to be repaired. The final repair ended up being higher than quoted originally but I understand that mechanical automobile issues can take more labor than anticipated. Most importantly, the issue I brought my car in for was fixed. I am happy that they provide a 2-year / 24,000 mile warranty with the parts they install as well! Would recommend Gregs to anyone!

Straight scam

Swift, honest and fair. Had timing belt, water pump, fan clutch, idlers, tensioner and drive belts replaced. They delivered spot-on to estimate. Will use them again and recommend them highly.

I sure wish I could figure out how to put no stars or negative stars cause thats about what these guys deserve. Horrible at diagnosing a problem. All they done was throw parts at it hoping that fixed the problem or hoping it would magically go away itself. Dont take your automobile to this shop if you want it back repaired. Also it took over a month and a half to get it back with NOTHING fixed and several thousand dollars down the drain. This kind of aggravation is really bad for people that use their trucks to make money and provide for their families. Anyways, negative 5 stars for them.

This is the worst mechanic you will ever find. Had my truck 2 months, charged over $6000 and tried to send me away three times with it. Truck still is not fixed at all and I am out over $10,000 in repair and lost wages; and I have to take it elsewhere and start over!!! He just throws parts at problems and triple over chargers for said parts. DO NOT take you vehicle here!!! He threatened me with physical violence when I expressed unhappiness in service (or lack of) received. Just a terrible little man and even worse mechanic!!!

I recommend Gregs auto for any mechanical needs. I had my car break down on the side of the interstate due to my motor seizing up, so i had my car towed to gregs auto and i explained to him my situation and asked if there was anyway possible that if i bought a motor for my vehicle if he could have it done by March 14th, now remind you my car broke down on the March 7th which was a thursday and the following day gregs auto was calling me to let me know they found a motor for my vehicle at a very reasonable price and so was the labor. I stressed all weekend long whether or not my car would be done when i needed it to be and gregs auto made that happen. They installed my engine and did more in 3 business day. So if u have any mechanical needs and are looking for a business that is going to make you happy and fullfill your needs well gregs auto is the place to go. Not only is the mechanics top notch but so is the owner.

Awesome place great environment

Brought my car in due to a noise around the engine. First fixes did not work but Greg stood by it and fixed the root cause of the issue after I brought it back for no additional cost. Honestly probably means more that he stood his work then that the issue was revolved the first time due to the complexity of the issue. I would recommend them. Only thing I dont like is they use Auto Zone parts which I have had horrible luck with but you cannot win them all I suppose.

Had my issue diagnosed and fixed for a super reasonable price in about 30 minutes flat. As a walk-in with no appointment, no less.

He gave estimate it was exactly what Greg said. I would recommend his shop for all repairs.

Went in for new exhaust work. The only thing that was right were the mufflers installed. Other than that it looked like a 10 year old did the work. So I payed $400 for garbage work and he didnt even finish the job.

This guys are not working with napa auto parts, even if u been told so ( thats what happened to me) I hed my hydraulic pump replaced and it was fast and cheap, but I been told that they are napa partners, and I one week later my pump broke up again (thats happens with new parts) so I have to pay for pump again.
