Can go to a professional salon for about the same price and actually come out with what you want… came in to get my hair lighter with a shadow root and came out with looking like I went to Walmart and purchased a box of brown hair dye and saturated my entire head…! After the instructor told the student what to do, I had sent a text to a friend that my hair was going to be butchered… I wasn’t wrong. Stayed 45 minutes after close, the student had another student come over and talk to her while doing my hair which distracted her and slowed down her work. The instructor never really came over to check on the process while the student was completely distracted with the drama. Bleach sat on the back of my head for a good 3 hours. While the sides of my hair only got maybe 25 minutes to process. If that! Left with wet hair, went home and blow dried it and cried. 😑 needless to say I’ve been here many times and I’ve never left with what I’ve wanted.

They make there students feel like they are in a prison with no ways of showing the students how to be themselves and honestly they are very unprofessional as a staff. You can’t have students divulge in how they feel as a confident woman or man if you don’t let them come in as they feel. People’s skills have nothing to do with how they look, some place as “professional” as this should realize this.

I just went in for a beard trim and simple haircut. But the student I had did a fantastic job of making it so much more than that. She talked me into a complimentary shampoo and scalp message, which felt GREAT. The student had never done a beard trim before, which I certainly cant fault her for. But she did make sure her instructor came over to help, which in my opinion is a good thing. The students here never take on tasks they cant handle, and the instructors are very talented stylists. Not only that, but the whole cut/trim was only four bucks! You cant beat that. I made sure to tip the student of course, and I simply cannot recommend this place enough!

I’ve been to Capri before but this visit was so great I had to leave a review! I had gone to a salon in Iowa City called Thompson and Co. I have been a regular there for about two years. Unfortunately I had a bad experience and was left with green tinted hair. They told me that they couldn’t get me in for a week and a half to fix it after paying $185 for the service. I had a very disappointing conversation with the manager and stylist. I came to Capri and they fixed the issue and I left absolutely LOVING my hair!! Way better than before!!

I went twice years apart for a massage one was a female student and the other one was a male who they said had his License I can’t tell he wasn’t good at all. I’m done with this place I’m never satisfied period.

Had a very bad visit. The advance student I had didnt know anything. I understand they are students and are learning. But with only having r weeks left I thought the student would know a bit more I even had pictures of what I was looking for. The teacher came over explained the cut multiple times and ended up doing 90% of the cut. She did a ok job. But refused to thin my hair like I asked. Said no you dont want to do that. Im paying for the service. I feel what I ask them to do should be done. I have extremely thick hair. Unfortunately I had to go elsewhere to get my hair fixed as what I asked for her wasnt done as I asked.. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately I have to revise this review. My hair got really messed up and I asked Bailee to fix it and she just disappeared on me. Really disappointing.

Hacks!!! No common sense in direction

My mom and I went in to Capri today to get a pedicure for me and a manicure and pedicure for her. Kylen did my pedicure and she did a wonderful job. She was so friendly and attentive, and I had a great time chatting with her. Micha did my moms manicure and pedicure and it looked beautiful! I also love that you get to keep the polish! Overall it was a great experience and we will definitely be back.

Unfortunately had a horrible experience with getting hair and make up done here for a special occasion and when I sent a message sharing my feedback- not asking for anything- was brushed off rudely. So if you want to have to re-do your make up at home and pay for a wax you didn’t get, this is the place for you. I get that these are students but there’s instructors there to step in and help. No customer would be happy walking out of an appointment that took 3 times as long as it should have looking like a freaking zombie.

I have been going to Capri for years. I have not ever had a bad experience & usually its exceeded my expectations! The staff & mainly students are doing something they love and it shows! We are very lucky to have Capri right here...Keep it up! I would recommend Capri to anyone for anything you would go to a more expensive salon for: Hair (Cut, Color, Style), Nails & Make-Up/Skin. They will take the time to ensure you leave happy!

Very welcoming when I walked in. 😊I loved having Emily W. Doing my hair. She was very nice and made great Conversation. When I showed the color wanted she knew there was a possibility it would bleed with the other color so we picked something close to what I wanted. I absolutely LOVE my hair color. I definitely recommend Capri.

Absolutely love the school. Been there for a few things and love it all. I personally think this school rates tops! I see how the students are treated and taught and respected by teachers. They dont just teach they make friendships and bonds.

Ready to learn, happy to teach. The students Ive had work with me have between ready to listen, figure out what i want and fine with asking their instructors for directions and approval. The instructors are helpful and friendly. Its important to remember this a school and things may take longer.

It was my first visit to Capri, Kylie M. was a delightful young lady who gave me a great hair cut . She listened to what I wanted but was also skilled and confident enough to offer her opinion which is exactly what I am always looking for in a stylist. She was obviously committed to her practice and to providing great service . When her instructor respectfully provided her with with a small amount of corrective feedback, she was teachable and proceeded gracefully. I enjoyed the teaching atmosphere. The combination of a dedicated, talented student and excellent over sight from the instructor helped me to feel secure. I will definitely be going back.

Its really hit or miss with the hair. The girls who know what theyre doing are great.The massage therapy class is amazing, however. I highly recommend any one from that class.

I have had 2 massages from Nicole. The first was an hour to provide relaxation and assess what muscles needed more attention. My next massage was an hour and a half. Nicole was very knowledgeable and consistently checked on the pressure to ensure I was having a wonderful massage. Both massages were wonderful and I learned stretches to help ensure good mobility. Thanks you Nicole and Capri for offering a great service at good prices!

Had my daughters 10th birthday party here and all of the girls had a blast getting their nails painted and hair styled. All of the stylists did a great job! So pretty!! Definitely worth it if you have a wedding, prom or other event where you need fancy hair.

Great experience. Students are staff seem to have a really good respect for each other and have fun doing what they do! Great quality cut and product recommendation, without being high pressure.

I cant say enough about the friendliness & quality of style here. Its a VERY affordable option to consider for regular salon spa services. Youd be surprised at all of the services & products they provide. The Students, Instructors & Schedulers are amazing!

Matt T. was amazing. He was friendly and talkative but in a good way. When I asked questions he took the time to answer them for me. I am sad that after March he will be graduated but I would recommend Capris students over La James any day.

I got my hair cut on the 2nd of May, Katie Martin did a great job I was pleased. She took before and after photos from her tablet and was suppose to tag me in them I never got them. I will be coming back to Capri for future haircuts.

Hannah did a great job! She was very polite & professional and listened to me as I explained that my hair has been a bit resistant to perms in recent years. We discussed my hairs peculiarities with her supervisor before she began to roll my hair & the three of us came up with a solution we all thought would work well. I am very pleased with the results. I have never liked a perm the first few days, but Ive had them enough to know this one will be really nice in about a week - looks great for the day of! Good job, Hannah! Thanks!

I had a great sports massage with Nicole. She combined my 1.5 hour massage by not only doing the sport massage (to stretch my muscles) but left some extra time to do a Swedish massage on my back and feet. I cant wait for my next massage with Nicole in two weeks.

Best color I have ever had. I stepped out of my comfort zone and was so happy! Abby G is Ana amazing stylist and definitely knows what she is doing when it comes to color.

The students really try to do the best job they can, while the instructors oversee and assist if needed. Please be advised that you need to allow more time since this is a learning salon, but how better to help than giving someone an opportunity to better themselves.

This was my second time going to Capri for my hair and both times have been fantastic!Everyone there has a great attitude, the instructors are skilled and professional and the students are just awesome! You can save some money and help students learn, its the best! I never once feared for the wellbeing of my hair or ever questioned if the student was ready to work with my hair. :)

It was wonderful. My niece, Lizzy, received a cut and eyebrow wax. Everyone was extremely nice. It was a boost to her self esteem which was needed. She talked about it all night.

I dont trust a lot of people with my hair but my stylist did a great job. Im also usually a little uncomfortable getting a haircut since Im not great with conversation but I felt very relaxed the entire time. Best of all, the prices are simply unbeatable. The students here always do an amazing job and I wont go anywhere else now.

I had a facial with Jackie Stahle yesterday and it was the best I have ever had. She did an amazing job and gave me pointers on my future skin care. I will recommend her to my friends!

The student interacted with me and asked what I wanted. She listened and took her time. Only thing I suggest the sinks to rinse your hair hurt your neck and back. Need chairs to lift the person to correct size so your comfortable.

Love this place. Love the ladies and they instructors that are here. I got my hair and makeup done here for my wedding and it was perfect. Everyone needs to keep in mind though that this is a college and these ladies are learning!

Getting ready for my beautiful friend Madines wedding and it has been great! The gals are friendly and fun. I have short hair and Ashleigh is doing an amazing job!

I love my hair color, and the girl who did my hair was very friendly. The instructor that was monitoring her was funny and engaging. Overall I had a great experience. My only problem/complaint is that she got a large chuck of dye on my cheek and forehead. By the time it was wiped off it had dyed my skin. Nothing seems to be getting it off all the way, and I even tried covering it up with makeup for work today. You can still see it through the makeup.

This is based on the Capri College Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The student I had her name was Kat. She was absolutely horrible. The director told her to pay attention, and instead her eyes were everywhere but watching what the instructor was trying to show her. I wanted a partial perm done and she was only able to put 4 rods in my hair and was even struggling with those. The instructor ended up doing it. Kat was there for 3 months and still struggling with 4 perm rods isnt saying much for the instructors at all. Arent the students suppose to practice on mannequin heads? Then I told Kat DO NOT put nothing in my hair at all when you blow dry it. She ended up putting stuff in my hair anyways and I made her wash it out with shampoo. It ticked the student off but I didnt care. On top of that I had to tell that same student the steps of how to rinse the perm. And then she forgot to blot and I had to remind her, and said I distracted her. I will never bother to do business with the Capri College in Cedar Rapids, IA again. This particular one thoroughly stinks.

I loved the atmosphere here. Everyone was so nice. The front desk seemed very understaffed. Also the two students who worked on me were still hesitant in there work even though they knew what they were doing. After my experience today, when I go back next Saturday for my hair to get died, I dont want a student to do it because I fear for my hair. But Im not saying that they arent capable, I just would like someone with a little bit more experience working on my hair as its very finicky.I got an hour massage and it was great but it was hard to mentally relax as I could hear the people in the other rooms talking.I also got a pedicure and it was good, but like I said before, she was very unconfident with her work and took 30mins longer than it should have. Also instead of letting me sit in the chair for my toes to completely dry she had me go pay (in these little flip flops) and told me to wait like 10 minutes before putting my shoes on. I messed the paint up because I was walking around and stuff.I critique very hard but I stand by my rating of 4 stars. Overall I had a pleasant experience.

I am a Capri graduate and have been a licensed instructor at Capri College for 4 years. I chose to work at Capri because of the excellent education I received. My instructors were wonderful role models. As an instructor my main priority is my students.

Very sweet girls and guys there. They do a great job. My one less star is because of for each cup of hair color the price goes up. Lol discrimination on long hair! Lol I do recommend this place for anyone wanting to save a dime.

I went to Capri for a massage with Adam K. I have never been happier with an experience. He and the staff were very professional and offered helpful stretching tips. The massage was great, recommend ortho stretching for very sore/tight muscles!
