We LOVE Lee’s Martial Arts in Cary! GM Lee and Master Ken are wonderful instructors. My son and I have fun, get a great workout (I’ve lost 15 lbs, so far!), and we always feel like family here. Lee’s is also really involved with our community and our kids’ educations, which is a great bonus! I could seriously go on and on about how lucky we are to have started Taekwondo with Lee’s this year.

My daughter has been attending for about a year now. We cannot say enough good things about Lees Martial Arts Academy. Grand Master Lee as well as John and Kenneth are all so nice and provide such positive energy, good feedback to the students and a fun and friendly environment that both holds the attention of our 6 year old, and also inspires her to stick with it and do her best. She has already acheived her orange belt.My only one drawback is that the sitting area gets filled up with parents/watchers and becomes really difficult to get in and out of especially on testing days. Not sure what could be done about this, but it wont prevent us from continuing to attend. We love Grand Master Lee!

Grand Master Lee and his staff are PHENOMENAL! I am so impressed with the time that they took with my boys. My boys were brand new to martial arts and a little wigged out / overwhelmed in a new place (ages 3 and 5). Grand Master Lee was so sweet - he came over and worked with my sons, one-on-one. If you are looking for a martial arts studio that cares, will take time, is knowledgeable and passionate, and will teach discipline, look no further!! It is everything you would expect from a local Cary business.

Lee’s Martial Arts is a great place for everyone who has interest in Martial Arts. Grand Master Lee and Master Ken are AWESOME! My son has learned so much in such a short period of time & I even joined! They treat you like family & welcomed us with open arms. I highly recommend this dojang. We will be using this facility forever.

My daughter started with Lee’s Martial Arts when she was 5 years old. Tonight, 4 years later, at the age of 9, she received (earned) her black belt. During her speech, she said, “I love them all.” She was referring to Grand Master Lee, Master John and Master Ken. She stood tall and proud and spoke clearly and with a strong voice saying she has a goal of someday opening her own do jang. I don’t think a review could get better than that.

Starting my children at Lees Martial Arts Academy is one of the best things I have ever done for my kids. They have grown not only in their martial arts skills, but in their self-confidence as well. The instructors here are Phenomenal! Master John and all the instructors here clearly love what they do. It takes a special group of people to make kids feel good about themselves while they learn to do something new and every instructor here manages to keep it fun while working on improving the kids skills. I could not ask for a better place for my kids to learn Taekwondo. As to the review regarding the construction dust, I feel differently. We also were here during that time and found it to be much cleaner than I would have expected considering the amount of construction that had just been completed. Grand Master Lee and Master John were always extremely careful with the childrens safety and construction was completed very quickly. It was a couple of weeks of inconvenience that was totally worth it. Lees Martial Arts Academy is now a beautiful, clean, bright, open and airy space and I am so glad we have the extra room!

I could not be happier with the experience we have had with this facility. I can honestly say I had my reservations about my son ( at the time 6 years old) committing to a year long program. However now my son has proudly earned his Blue belt with no signs of stopping. In fact my 4 year old daughter was inspired, and is now member. We originally signed our son up because he showed a lack of focus and confidence, and like many moms of boys I am sure can agree, he had an infinite amount of energy! Within a couple of months we noticed he was more respectful, focused, and CONFIDENT! He thoroughly enjoys the program, and wont stop practicing... he is proud of his accomplishments and is looking forward to earning his black belt! He even expressed interest in becoming an instructor! Our daughter begged to join and again my reluctance set in... especially with a 4 year old!! Her experience has been very special for us, we recently had conferences at her school, and her teachers had mentioned they noticed a sudden change in her. She started to try, no longer shy, and she started paying closer attention. She has completely excelled in school. ABCs, shapes, etc.... my husband noticed that the time frame the teachers were referring to was right around the time she started at Lees. Her goal now is to become a Black belt. The instructors here are near and dear to our hearts. It takes a village to raise children, and we are thankful that Lees instructors are in our corner! They take such time, and truly make our children feel special!Such a great place!!Thank you!!!!

I have been a student of Grand Master Lee’s for over 3 years. I take Tae Kwon Do with my 4, 6 & 7 year old grandsons & granddaughter two nights a week. These classes have been a great experience for all of us. I recently earned my deputy black belt and my grandchildren have earned their yellow, blue and brown belts. All of us are getting a lot out of these lessons: I am more flexible than I’ve been in 20 years (I’m almost 66) and am stronger and in better shape. Recently I began taking private lessons with Master Ken and now can confidently say I plan to get my black belt in 2018. My grandchildren are improving their focus and showing more discipline and coordination - skills which will serve them well in school and sports. These lessons continue to be a great investment in my own health and in the overall well being of my grandchildren..

BEWARE!!We signed up our son for a year long program - after a few months he began complaining about leg pain every night. He was experiencing growing pains. This went on for a few months, and he no longer could attend physically. We tried to get our money back (for unused time, of course) - and they WILL NOT give anything back - citing breach of contract. Also - WE ARE MOVING OUT OF STATE....still no partial refund, and will NOT release us from the contract!! Repeated attempts to resolve this with Lees, and their billing agency, have gone UNRESPONSIVE. Once they have your money - they dont care about you!I would expect this type I response from a big chain place, but our family was very shocked to receive this type of treatment from a family owned/operated establishment. We are very disappointed - as they were so nice to us while were there. Proceed with caution @ Lees!

Dear (Dave Muller)Hi, (after 5 months of this comment online, i finally see it and i am in shock!)In my(business owner)efforts to contact you discreetly deemed impossible, and I am forced to write my own review(s)I fully apologize for the inconvenience that the expansion of the building was on you and your child. We did talk in person with many concerned parents and offered many resolutions and we saw nothing but smiles when we talked. We also did our part in keeping the place safe, please ask John about that personally, and he can give you his full 2 hour ramble on that because it was his above and beyond goal.In response to your concerns that we spoke to an attorney about.(1) We apologize about the dust, we fully understand that you had concern, and we did our part in cleaning after all the construction workers. Even they went overtime and cleaned more than their job description and we were thankful for that. But more importantly, we also did our part in cleaning 2 hours prior to opening up the mats everyday after 2 months because (you were right) it was dusty. We sweat, broomed, swept, wet vacuumed, squeegeed, dry vacuumed, clean mopped, and hand toweled the whole place and you can ask my doctor bill on my back for that.(2) We are fully aware of your letter to the village and the local governing offices. We were notified, and we talked to them about it after you had. But the important thing is that we were notified before you sent your letter that we were deemed safe to open for business. And after pressure from easily more than 100 students that they wanted to practice, we met that demand. We still went out of our way to set up aide to walk kids in the hallways simply because we did not have tiles on the floors. We went over to make sure that nothing like this would happen. I thought we went above and beyond to make it more safe then what was expected. Again, we were okayed by the local governing offices. And still,We appreciate your business, without you we could not have expanded and met the real reason for asking in hearing the local governing offices for a permit, and ironically, it was because we felt that we needed to spend more money and pay double in lease so that we can provide more space to keep it safe for all of our students.I fully apologize and please contact me or master john.Thank You!

My 4 year old has some developmental delays and I signed him up for Tae kwon do (just to try) to see if maybe it would help him with focus and discipline and obviously to find an activity he could continue and enjoy. When I signed him up, I signed up for a monthly membership. Master Lee reassured me, that at any time, I could cancel my membership if it didnt work out. My son had recently started school and was also starting therapy for speech/PT/OT and going straight from these programs and school to tae kwon do. His 1 year old brother also began experiencing health problems that involved hospitalizations and so we had to miss quite a few classes. My son started becoming very anxious before tae kwon do and it became very stressful for him. I made him stick with it, as I thought maybe this would improve with time, but after about a month and a half, it didnt resolve. I let Master Lee know this via email, with no response. I was concerned maybe he didnt receive my email, so I emailed the secretary for Lees and also called. I received an email from the secretary stating she would take care of this. I was charged two months following this correspondence and tried to have it resolved. When I call Lees, they tell me Master Lee isnt there and nobody can help me. When I call the billing company, Im told Master Lee signed me up for a 1 year contract and it cannot be canceled. This is absolutely not what Master Lee and I discussed and could not be misunderstood. When my husband finally got a hold of Master Lee, he told him he would do it when he got around to it, yet never respond to emails, phone calls, or voicemails. Once they have your money, they dont care about much else. I was hoping once my son was older, I would sign him and his brothers back up and try again. I would absolutely never return back to Lees. Like the man below, I thought a small local business would be the right route, but this time that was not the case. Do not sign up unless you want to pay thousands of dollars a year and obligated to be all in from day one. If you have a child, I would definitely make sure they 100% want to commit to it a few days a week without absence/illness/injury, because if not, they will not work with you.
