The new owners are Great! Thais is one of new owners from Belgium speaks French and she is a great Chef and loves to create something special. It is a cozy restaurant and has a European feel . Thais creates everything from scratch and uses healthy ingredients. Pizza is yum and not heavy dough or over salted. We loved the lasagna the other day took it home for dinner. They have a small menu and that makes it special. They can create something special for you. My wife loves the egg plant parmesan. We are regulars and fans of this nice local place. Lunch or dinner and they have nice music on too.!
Great restaurant. Nice outside seating. Fantastic pizza and great glass of wine. Also had great service. Really a relaxing environment. Its now called tharios kitchen which threw us off a little in locating the restaurant which is on santa Claus lane. Highly recommend this place!
Charming restaurant visited with family and friends. We all loved our pizza and pasta choices; the waiter and chef were very personable and took great care of us. I highly recommend you visit for a lovely evening.
Delicious! The best thing crust pizza in SB. So yummy. Don t miss out, this place is a 10. Very family friendly. Small but well curated wine menu.
I remember visiting here a year or two ago and it was not as decorated as it is now. After a day of surfing I convinced my friend to get a pizza with me here. I had just come off the beach so I had jeans and my bathing suit top on, however I had an oversized jacket to cover. Right when I walk into the empty restaurant the server gestures for me to button my jacket as he said I need to cover up. This made me slightly uncomfortable seeing as I was not dressed inappropriately and the restaurant was on the beach, I figured they would get a lot of beach goers and surfers. After we were seated we were one of 3 tables in the entire place on a weekend. The service was just terrible. We were brought bread that was so burned it was black. When we received our appetizer I found a hair in it. It took me about 5 minutes to flag someone down because the server or host wouldnt even look in our direction. When I told them there was a hair his response was Oh, okay. He then took the food to the back where he told the chef and pointed at our table while they both looked at us and talked. This was moderately off putting. He then comes back and hurriedly says The chef apologizes and walked away. We were then brought our pizza which we didnt have any complaints about. It was overpriced but we were too hungry to care. No one came once during the entire time we were there to ask how anything was. After our pizza was finished for 15 minutes the host came back and asked us if we want dessert. I said no just the check. Our server then comes over and said he was sorry for the hair in the appetizer and said he wasnt going to charge us for our meal. I greatly appreciated that and told him thank you and even wound up leaving $11 for the pizza we ate. I was very disappointed with the service and lack of professionalism here. I hope our experience wasnt an example of their typical service. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
The best Italian food ever. We loved the lasagna and theres always something delicious on the specials the food is top-notch and the desert is worth every single calorie. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and just downright nice. This will be my stop anytime Im in the Carpinteria area
New team, really delicious authentic Italian food. Lasagna was delicious. I usually do lot care for bolognese and it really impressed me. Salads and pizza were also really high quality and really good.Really worth it.
Really authentic Italian food and delicious! Staff were lovely and very attentive. If u love Italian food, youll love this place!
Very Rude. They were not open for another 15 minutes so we were drinking coffee from the market next door. They woman came out angrily demanding we leave her porch so she could set up her restaurant for her customers not people from next door! Geez, good luck with that attitude lady. We might have actually ate lunch if you gave us a minute to enjoy the coffee from the people you share a building with.
The eggplant parmesan and the lasagna are great. Order a salad to eat while you wait. Portions are almost too generous.
Had Lasange and Pizza which was both very very good and authentic Italian food. Lasagna took 30 mins which means it was freshly made - awesome! Service was good too. Lovely place.
Horrible service. 2 out of 9 meals were incorrect. One of our party simply got a salad because she was on a time limit of an hour and she didnt even get her food. Then the rest of us waited almost 2 hours for our food. When the two lasagnas and the one pizza they came out burnt. Two of the three Alfredos had hardly any sauce at all. Our drinks were never refilled with out being asked and it always took forever to flag down our server. Extremely dissatisfied, especially for the inflated prices we paid.
Horrible Service from the waitress but Delicious Calzones. We walked in and felt like the place was closed. The waitress was behind the bar talking to a guy sitting at the bar and not even acknowledging us as we walked up. We waited about 5 minutes just standing in front of her and finally she responded to us until we said excuse me. We asked for menus and she pointed that they were up at the front host stand and for us to go get them. We went up back to the front and the menus werent even there. We went back and she had them at the bar the whole time. We told her we were going to be seated outside. We waited and waited and waited.. we werent sure what was taking so long since there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant. The entire time we were there we had to wait for her to stop talking to other people and kept having to remind her to give us service. She would always talk to a person at the bar and forget about us and just make us wait. Food was good but the service was just horrible. If she actually did a decent job then I would of given this place a better review. I even saw the other couple next to us walk away from how horrible the service was.
Good food and service. The name of the restaurant has changed.
Local place. Dark inside, and a but getting but pretty full on a Sat night. Prices so so...$17.50 for spaghetti and meatballs. Wait staff is pleasant. One of 3 places to eat on Santa Claus Lane.... And frankly the only one that feels like a real restaurant.
We dont come here as often as we should. This is a family run, Italian restaurant, and let me tell you, they have some old family style secrets when it comes to pizza. This is a family friendly restaurant, with a wide variety of menu items for the kids to the adults. Today we split a basic pepperoni pizza (excellent), but in the past weve hada variety of pastas. This place is clean (bathrooms too), and friendly. Definitely worth coming to. ✔️
Its not Borellos any more. Its Tharias. Food was just ok. They got the order wrong twice and it took a long time to get our food. Then, the bill was calculated wrong, twice! Will need to find a new Italian spot in Carpenteria!
THE SLICE, and Spaghetti with Sausage, had fresh Basil. Garlic toast, oh and the salad fantastic the food was absolutely fantastic. Location, right on the beach. The walls had the hole in the wall Look. Very nice. Prices were very good. :)
Food was good and really inexpensive; we are from out of town and the main reason we always come back is the friendly atmosphere and awesome service. Im assuming its a family run business and they definitely make you feel like one of their own! Highly recommend!
Five stars from us... we happened upon this restaurant and were very pleased. The food was awesome, fresh and authentic Italian. We met the owner who was very inviting. Anyone traveling through Carpentaria or living there they must give it a try. We will definitely be back.
The restaurant changed NAME. in Decembe 2019It is now THARIOs kitchen. but its same new ownership since june 2019.
New owners. Excellent meal! Generous portions.
Awesome food, and an all around fun little place. We randomly stopped in on a drive up the coast, shortly before closing, and the staff was super accommodating! I would definitely stop again!
Terrible experience. Will never go back. So many great places around, not sure how this place got good reviews.
We loved this place. A quick stop on the way to southern California.
Loved the casual atmosphere. The restaurant was filled with family pictures dating back 100 years and the owners treated us like family. The food was made to order and the service was great. The clam chowder and lasagna were fabulous!
Great food. Super authentic and tasty
😒 sooo disappointing. Borrellos closed down!
I love this place its nice tha food its so good everything its home made and the owners are amazing nice people this place its a place for everyone kids love to be there and go inside the kitchen they also have board games to play its like a perfect place to be with anyone family friends love it 🥰😘
Absolutely Wonderful place, the owners make you feel welcome, and the homemade fresh food is to die for.
Nice place for a quick stop on a long trip up Hwy 101. Calzone was great, and the staff was so friendly. We will make this a return-to place.
Food was nice sometimes slightly burnt otherwise very nice
Love their food dishes. Good-sized portions with very friendly staff. Most likely to stop by again when Im in the area.
If youre like me, a business traveler who rarely risks a local place anymore because so many are just awful; this is the exception. Nice people, prompt service, relaxed place and excellent food. Seriously considering getting a meal to go for tomorrow because theyre closed.
I had the burgwr, was pretty good. There is a nice outdoor area. This place feels like a vacation spot.
Best food in the central coast and the owners who personally see to it you are beyond happy cant be beat ! The chef is amazing. She should be at the Ritz Carlton !
Best gluten free pizza I have ever had!! Service is excellent. A must while you are Carpinteria, or passing through.
Great food, friendly service, and its dog friendly. Our waitress was so nice, the atmosphere was relaxed and very welcoming.
This place was Soooo good! Food, service environment everything was perfect! If ever in the area I would definitely recommend to everyone.
Friendly, excellent service. A1 place to eat and have a beer or a nice bottle of wine with dinner.
Really good Italian food. The Margarita pizza is the bomb
Love the food and service. I always sit outside. Nice atmosphere and reasonably priced.
Was ok, now awful local spot. When it first opened there was hope for decent Italian food in Carpinteria. Sadly, Borrellos is falling apart at the seams. Service is atrocious, food is consistently terrible, and overpriced. Lately, they are refusing to honor a Groupon discount (buy one entree, get second free) claiming they never authorized it. Why not just honor it instead of making customers mad???? Really poorly run business. Locals keep you alive in winter time...have you forgotten that or dont you care? Presto Pasta in Ventura is worth the drive for higher quality food at half the price.
Nice place. Good food. Cozy service.
Some of the best pasta Ive ever had! Nice mix of Italian and Mexican flavors
The clam chowder was delicious, and the Ahi tuna was tasty. Food has a lot of flavor. The atmosphere is laid back and the workers are very friendly.
Great food. The banana cream pie is awesome but one slice costs almost as much as an entree.
Wonderful, friendly little spot that has delicious food and treats you like family! The homemade banana cream pie is a must.
Our favorite place!! The food is great, good personable service and were treated like family. And we can bring our dog.
Carpinteria is lucky to have Borrellos! The service is exceptional, feels like home. Food is delicious and reasonably priced for the quality served. Thank you, Borrellos!
Excellent food; we had salad, pizza, sandwiches and chicken strips. The service was amazing too!
Yummy thin crust pizza, nice seating outside, will definitely be back.
A truly horrible experience. Yes, we were part of a very large group - but we made reservations days in advance and were told that they could handle us. Spoiler alert - they couldn’t!The biggest issue was that the staff just didn’t care. No apologies, no explanations, just three hours of waiting and poor quality food.
Dont go late night....The southwestern spicy chicken sandwich which is supposed tobe a full chicken breast, was chopped up. The Garlic? Nickel size pieces...tough to eat...Guy who took our order also cooked our foood. Definetly needs more training. Sad cuz i love this place. Go during mid day!
Best happy accident. Had to use the restroom and was hungry. Huge portions and gave daddy a 10% discount for being a Marine!
Great pizza and food! Dog friendly patio and theyll bring a water bowl for your pup
Friendly, family style, delicious Italian food!
Love the food spaghetti and meatballs.... Kid friendly... pizza is fire....
This was my very first visit and it was excellent, The service was great, they let us sample the wine, the pizza was very good. This is not Arnold but, Ill be back.
Safe spot and good! Look for a 20% off large pizza coupon if you park at Santa Claus lane. 90 min. parking. Come early or come later.
Food was decent, unfortunately not up to the standards its former brand had set for itself though. Service was very nice, friendly and professional, just a bit slow.
Family environment, great food, awesome choices of local brews-7 on draft😍 friendly welcoming services.
Decided to stop on our way up to Pismo. Glad we stopped here. Worth every penny and every bite. Food is excellent... Fresh.. And absolutely delicious. The Futtucine Primavera was soooo good! The pizza was great! On our way back from Pismo we shopped again and picked up pizza to go.. My girls and I absolutely loved it.
The sandwiches are amazing but service is a little slow.
Family-owned, really nice, welcoming people. The pizza was delicious!
We come here for the impossible Burger, but the pizza is unreal and they have the best beers.
Huge selection of true Italian style sandwiches, pizza, and calzones too! Our waitress was very nice and made us feel super welcome!
Awesome pizza and a slice deal! Great from scratch taste.
Best place ever!!! Family, fun and amazing food!!!! 💗
